The Sampler

Service was fast & friendly. Food came quickly and was hot and fresh. I just was not wowed by the taste of anything. The grits were bad. The biscuit was basic. And all 4 meats on my plate were just a little off. My favorite thing was the eggs. They were delicious! And the pancakes coming out if the kitchen looked amazing so maybe that would've been a better choice.

This place is a Memphis staple and a must stop if you're visiting. It's located on Summer Ave and it's not the most prestigious neighborhood but I've never had any problems there. Bryant's is listed on Eater Nashville as one of the top 20 Essential Restaurants in Memphis. The restaurant has that neighborhood diner feel with hot coffee and freshly cooked breakfast moving about from counter to table. The service is great, fast and friendly. If you come on the weekend be prepared to stand in line. The decor is no frills, a few pics on the walls. The star is the food, beautiful pancakes and French Toast among other yummy plates. I ordered the famous Country Ham, Biscuits, Gravy, Grits and eggs plate to go. The biscuits were proper Southern biscuits light and fluffy just waiting on a slather of butter. The grits and eggs were ok not award worthy. The Ham was what I was excited about because I only eat ham on special occasions, however it was dry and overcooked. The ham was a No for me. Next time I go back I'll try the pancakes or omelette they looked delicious!

This is one of the best places to get a breakfast sandwich! I get a biscuit with bacon, egg and cheese and it's divine. I also recommend the triangle hashbrown patties for a crunchy, satisfying side. Although Bryant's typically has a line of customers, it moves quickly and the food comes out hot and fresh. The vibe is like an old school diner, serving the classics without many frills. Definitely add it to your breakfast list!

Philly Omelet with biscuits/gravy & cup of grits (not pictured). Chess Pie. French Toast breakfast.

GREAT local all-day-breakfast joint! It has a divey quick-serve cafe vibe to it. The staff is super nice & prompt. I had the Philly Omelet and it was delicious. Excellent blend of meat, cheese, & (curiously) tomatoes. It comes with a side of BnG's and grits. I tried a piece of Chess Pie at the suggestion of one of the cooks. It's like a sweet custard with a flaky top and was pretty good. Their menu has something for everyone & the service is super fast. Would absolutely recommend!

I used to work at a family owned diner on Quince growing up, and this little spot reminds me of it down to a tee! The line was wrapped around the building, which is always a good indicator! It moved quickly, and I ordered the pancake breakfast, and a chicken biscuit. You certainly get what you pay for, it was a TON of food! and it was all good. I forgot to take a picture of the pancakes, because I ate them all :( If I'm ever in town, I definitely wanna come back!!

French Toast had classic taste, I'm usually a pancake addict but this took the cake. Customer service always amazing every time I go. This would be the perfect stop for any type of breakfast lover.

It was a good but don't see the hype haha. Maybe I didn't the right things. But your average breakfast spot. You walk in order your food they give you a number and you sit down or eat in. Nothing special nothing fancy. I do like that concept. It's very fast and good comes out hot. Everybody is nice. They actually remade my food because it was a miscommunication and that was really nice of them. I would visit again because food is reasonably priced.

Menu pricing was amazing

Staff, pricing, & food was amazing! This was our 1st time in Memphis and North Carolina Double Dutch Therapy can say this will now be our breakfast spot! Awesome*Awesome*Awesome*Awesome

It was just ok! I'm not sure why people make such a fuss haha. Keep in mind, I'm not a huge breakfast person, but my friend said she wasn't feeling it either. The service was great it just tasted really bland. I had to add lots of salt to mine and I rarely use salt in anything. The French toast appealed but it looks so sweet I'm worried it'll upset my stomach. I'd be willing to try it with someone tho. To try: Cinnamon Roll French Toast Ok: - Scrambler: Pork Tenderloin

Fried Bologna with eggs and biscuits with gravy and grits

We were told by a hotel employee about Bryant's and shared about their biscuits. I'm not a biscuit person, however those with me do enjoy biscuits. I must admit that if the place were not Recommended we would Not have gone / gone in to the restaurant. From the outside it looks like there would be no seating and as if it were a dive. We almost made a decision to try it out since recommendations were that there was Great food. Once we entered we saw the large spacious dining area. The menu is above the counter for ordering. We placed our order, was given an order number and made our way to an open table. Once seated a woman came to the table with flatware. What wasn't clear was if you order coffee - it is self service. The server brought out our meals once the order was ready. And might I say we were pleasantly impressed. Our meals ordered included a veggie omelet with biscuits and gravy, fried bologna and eggs and pancakes with thick bacon (you'll see the pictures) and an order of hash brown casserole (however we didn't realize until wee were back to the hotel and thanked the employee for the recommendation. The fried bologna literally melts in your mouth was nicely crispy edges. The bacon was thick and cooked to perfection (no under cooked flaccid bacon but thick and tasty. The pancakes were more griddled cakes with lightly crispy edges and bits. They were fluffy yet light. The omelette was full of veggies, the biscuits (I was told) were light, buttery and hot. The two breakfasts were served with grits. We were satisfied and so glad we went ahead and ate there. The food was fantastic! The only thing was we did not get the hash brown casserole as ordered however we did not realize until we'd returned to the hotel. I would definitely recommend stopping in and order breakfast.

Woke up early to head over and try this place out. Parking was easy and there weren't too many people inside. The minute you pull into this place you know it's going to be good. Old school diner vibes for sure. The inside is open with a bunch of tables and you order at the counter as soon as you walk in. I went with the sampler and my daughter got the strawberry pancakes. Our food came out pretty quick and there was a lot of it. Overall everything tasted pretty good. I thought the ham and pork tenderloin were a little dry but the biscuits were some of the best I have ever had. It was definitely worth the drive to try out and I would probably go again if I'm ever back in the area.

The service was great, the wait was minimal, and our food came out so quickly it was almost like they were waiting for us to arrive! Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

The eggs in my eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly and they used a regular house-made biscuit that soaked up the egg yolks perfectly. TLDR: Not a bad word to say about this place.

Later during the meal, he admits that Momma's is one of his spots, so that's saying a lot. It sort of looked like another bar/restaurant from the outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking an old decrepit building which is at least some scenery. Once inside, you'll quickly see it's highly decorated and has a claim to be one of the only trucker themed bars in the US. Inside is decked out to the ceilings with signs, neon, old mirrors, collectibles, and many other items. I swear it looks like it's been in business for 30+ years, but my client said only a couple of years. I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them. I think I could only eat 6-7. My colleague had a ribeye steak salad which was a protein bomb he loved, and my 2 clients ordered a big rig grilled cheese which he also loved and a fried chicken sandwich (firebird) which looked really good. With the invited experience the food was hot and fresh because we are featured guest. However, even with food togo there is a reasonable hottness that stays with fresh cooked food. I ordered a Cobb salad with fried chicken and a burger with wedge fries at a lil after 5:00p and text to pick up was 5:21p. I was there to pick up at 5:28p. I walked in and stood in the entrance, near make shift board hostess stand, not sure but to my left was a hostess counting money, a guy at a kiosk eating with an apron on and the busy bartender. The hostess saw me, smiled and finished talking with guy at kiosk, they talk briefly until he sees me then walks over. I grab the order and feel no warmth. I figure the buger on top of salad maybe but nope, sure enough I get home and it's old and the fried chicken on the cobb salad is frozen. It was dried out and reheated. The amount of blue cheese was insane the lettuce was not fresh. The cheese on the burger was two different colors, the toppings looked old as well. $45 for a salad and burger, trying to support our local spots and the inconsistency is appalling. The burger was so good and fresh at the invited event only for me to remember it, and want to go back months later. The I pay my hard earned money, use my expensive gas to drive from East Memphis to Downtown and get a frozen breaded chicken patty on a salad and an old burger. If my feelings ain't deeply hurt because why are you not cooking real chicken breast?

This was probably the worst service I've ever had. Everything except getting seated took at least four times what it should have. So why five stars? My fiancé and I agree that this is some of the absolute greatest food we've ever had in our lives. We ate well past the point of being full and (consciously and willingly) compromised our dinner because of how delicious the food was. Seven months later, I'm still thinking about this meal. We had the biscuit board, the biscuit bake, and Pioneer Pancakes. I am devastated and almost positive that unless I travel back to Sugar Grits in Memphis, I'll never have a breakfast (or meal) this utterly mind blowing again. I sincerely hope the service improves because this is what food should be. I would gladly wait twice as long as I did just to taste this food all over again. But since I hope this place stays open, I need the service to get better. If you're planning on coming, make sure you don't have plans afterwards. Not just because of the service time, but because you'll be too gleefully full to move. Without the extraordinary quality of the food we received, this would have been the easiest one star of my life. Instead, this is the easiest five star I'll ever write. Let's start with the logistics: this place is tiny, and the "system" they have going on is pure chaos. You order at the counter, they hand you a number, and then employees just aggressively shout numbers out into a crowded room. To make matters worse, people ordering to-go just hog the limited tables meant for dine-in customers while they wait. Management desperately needs to hand out table flags, text people when it's ready, or something, because the current setup is a bottleneck. Between the crowd and the open kitchen, expect to leave the building smelling straight-up like bacon grease. Because they were slammed, it took an absolute eternity for my food to hit the table. If you are on a tight schedule to get out of town, this is not the move. Now, the saving grace is the food--the kitchen definitely has soul. I ordered the fish and grits, and being hardheaded, I added a side of four shrimp just to compare. Learn from my mistake: just stick to the fish and grits! The fried catfish was seasoned to absolute perfection, piping hot, and the grits were incredibly creamy. The shrimp were okay, but not worth the extra cash. Honestly, the food is genuinely good Southern comfort food, but it is heavily overpriced for the tiny portion sizes and the chaotic, cramped experience. I'd probably only ever come back for a call-ahead to-go order, and only if I had zero time constraints.

I eventually learned from another customer that it was a seat-yourself establishment. Interesting! LOL. However, the moment I sat down, someone came right over to take my order. I guess everybody strictly stays in their lane around here! I ordered the three-piece white meat meal with coleslaw, baked beans, and a small side of mac and cheese. BABY, that chicken was GOOD! Another thing I appreciated was the cleanliness. Both the dining area and restroom were clean and well-maintained.
