I've followed Lucy's work since before her location at Berwyn. After thinking about it for a year, i decided to go ahead and book ombré brows with Lucy. Sadly, i am making this review so what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. I had my brows done first session in August and second in October. I was unhappy with my results, Lucy assured me to wait the 8 weeks. I did and was still unhappy. I told Lucy they were not ombré, it had been shaded to dark in the front and that they were crooked as well as looked like prison brows. Lucy said it was my skin pigmentation and to schedule a third session and pay another $150. That didn't sit right with me. I paid and consulted two other certified brow artists. Unfortunately they confirmed my concerns. One artist said "you will need a correction, As far as getting the fronts lighter, you can't. She went over them during your touch up. Unless you get them lightened up either by laser or a solution removal". "The only thing she can correct is the shape". (Uneven and crooked and not ombré) Second artist said "they're are not ombré, her pressure is too light. You could tell your artist to go over them again and not touch the front in hopes of saturating the brow more and getting the front to look lighter." I reached out to Lucy so she could correct her mistakes and I wouldn't have to go and pay another $600 to get the brows corrected elsewhere. Lucy said "You're more than welcome to get them redone by someone else". Unfortunately now i have this botched job and Lucy did not try to fix her mistake. Keep that in mind when booking. read more

I came to this place with super high hopes. Me and my sister were super excited and left completely disappointed. We initially came since we both have friends who would recommended us this place. Anyways, I knew the two girls from Instagram since they are always posting pictures and coming up in my feed since a couple of friends follow their shop. So when I walk in I wasn't sure of what to do being my first time here. I see Lucy coming from the back room and she looks at me and just says "have a seat" in the most annoyed voice ever. Like she didn't like her job. I have a seat and then Theresa does my brows. I will not lie. My eyebrows were super crooked! Not even slightly even. What's worst is that so was my sisters. I drove about 45 min to get here yo get such crappy results. My sister's bf notice right away gets were so uneven. I emailed them asking for a refund and they said no. The owner just said she will take care of me free of charge. To me this isn't fair because one, they shouldn't be so uneven with all the experience they allegedly have. I've been going to Brows By Lucy for almost 2 years now and can I just say her and her team are truly amazing and so welcoming I'm never disappointed and every time I walk out the doors I have a big smile on my face and I feel like myself again. I scheduled an appointment for today 4/23/23 at 2:05 with Stacey, I was on my way with plenty of time when an ambulance and two fire trucks cause some traffic, but that's fine, I have time to get to the location still. If any of you guys have ever loved on the north side of Berwyn, the most annoying thing is to be stuck behind a freight train. So my appointment time goes by and ima till waiting behind the train, at 2:12 I call and say I'm literally stuck behind the freight train and the reception says that I'm going to be charged for a no show fee, they have nothing to do with me being late due to the train so oh well. Umm, I have no control over traffic or a train and I honestly felt that as a business, that is located literally in an area where traffic and trains cause people to be late, they would be more understanding about this, oh but they are definitely quick to charge the no show fee. I don't write reviews much, but this was the worst experience. I am so hurt and disappointed. I understand people value their time, but I do too. I choose to drive 50+ minutes to get my eyebrows threaded. I really wanted to love this place and support their business. Today, I drove from Plainfield all the way to Berwyn to get my eyebrows threaded by what I thought was the 'best of the best'. I had a great first experience! My appointment was at 3:40 and I arrived at 3:48, stressed with trying to find parking but excited to get my brows done. I walk in and Sierra tells me that I was late and was charged a $20.00 no show fee (which was a lie, $50.00 was charged) and already has a client. To whom it may concern, First I would like to say, the shop is nice and clean. I had an eye lash lift and was very satisfied. The work that is done here is great but, unfortunately the owner and workers lack professionalism and are racist. An older lady (around 60) came in before me and was working with the Owner. The lady was confused about what she was there for and the owner was just talking her thru what she booked. Through out the conversation the lady asked how much her pricing was and Lucy let her know how much and the woman expressed that there's other places that are cheaper BUT WAS NOT RUDE ABOUT IT. When she checked out she asked the owner some more questions just out of being a curious older lady and the owner took offense to some but didn't say anything to the lady. Once the lady left, Lucy was on a call and gossiping about the older lady and then she and the coworker proceeded to say Filipinos are a hassle to work with. With no regards of what the hell came out of their mouths or the fact that costumers were inside. It made me very uncomfortable especially with Asian hate going on. I paid by dues and left. This salon is my favorite, my mom came here looking to get her eyebrows micro bladed and the technician did an an outstanding job. Since the moment we walked in we were greeted with a friendly smile and the technician took us right into the room where the appointment would be happening so I had no wait time. My mother had to lay on a table/bed and was explained the procedure how things would happen. First day she applied a topical anesthetic to try to numb my moms eyebrows up and the technician quickly got to work after the local anesthetic took a fact that she removed it all off and thoroughly clean the eyebrow. We were there for about an hour and a half and despite my mom not being able to talk much due to it being explained that if she moved it could potentially mess up the results of the micro blading, the technician was very talkative very friendly. Since that micro blading appointment my moms eyebrows have never looked better and we have a come back for touchups after a couple months the pricing is very affordable but the professionalism and overall quality of the work is unmatched I would not trust anyone else with my eyebrows or the eyebrows of my mother or any other family member with anybody else but that studio read more

At first I really liked this place, I liked how they shaped my brows. Did not hurt at all, and was a lot more pleasant with the result then waxing. They did come off a little rude but I choose to ignore it... I shouldn't have. I made an appointment but had to cancel because I got COVID.I found out the day before- I called within 24 hours to let them know. No one answered, I left a voice mail, AND messaged them on insta. No one got back to me. I then made another appointment 2 months later and they said I couldn't come in if I didn't pay the cancellation fee. Went in to have my eyebrows microbladed by Lucy and first session was ok ,I knew I needed another session so I had to wait for the finishing touch. But after my second session and final result I was not satisfied for all the money that I had payed. Some of the strokes are going against my natural hair growth making them look way off. I honestly think that if she didn't get distracted by having to deal with other clients phone calls and her personal issues she maybe would of done a better job. I see that a lot of people complaining about walk ins & i completely understand but also understand that there are people with appointments that pre-pay for their services and would be pretty pissed if they didn't get seen on time. Another 2 years later and I still love this place. Today I tried their new waxing service and I love Viridiana! She is so gentle and fast. On my first visit I was pleased with the Henna and threading service I received...The second time at Lucy's I received the same service though, I requested that they reapply the henna longer as the initial result was too light. The technician gladly fulfilled my request which lend to a desirable result. My request for a third visit was granted but I had to cancel. I had a family emergency and I was charged for the service I did not receive. The fourth visit they accepted my request for service but then they immediately canceled my appointment thereafter. I received an email stating, " I made them uncomfortable." No explanation or example was given. If I truly did something wrong, then why except my third request for service? Conclusion: I cancelled my third appointment. Moral of the story; If you go to Lucy's don't ever cancel. Or they will cancel you! Maybe Lucy's is too busy for business. read more

So I had never had my eyebrows done and for my first time I did a walk-in and was seated with Vee she was amazing very nice sweet I was so nervous but she made me feel so comfortable. She used wax which I was super happy about because I didn't think I could handle thread. But when I returned for the second time Vee was busy so I was seated with Erika I explained to her this would be my second time and I didn't want to get my eyebrows done with thread she insisted that I would be fine and that it didn't hurt much.. well I was in so much pain I told her she just rolled her eyes and pretty much said I was being dramatic. She did a great job but she's just very rude and seems to get annoyed. I returned a third time this time made an appointment with Vee for a wax since I had such a great experience with her I was actually looking forward to it. Well she had someone else in there I waited for almost 45 min past my scheduled appointment when she came out she looked at what I booked her for which she then said she didn't realize I was getting so much done. Point is they were going to close soon she just seem to be hurrying up so she could get out I had a brazilian wax and full leg wax she just kept complaining my hair wasnt coming out even though I hadn't shaved for almost a month she burned me real bad she just looked like she was anxious to finish so she could leave . It was not my fault she took so long with her last client this was my first ever brazilian wax and it was so horrible I don't think I'll get another one anytime soon. I wasn't bothered that she took so long with her other client I was bothered at the fact that she should have taken her time with me after I had to wait for so long. Brows by Lucy is my go to place!!! I've actually gotten services done by everyone that works there, full face threads and henna brows by Lucy and Erika did my brows and upper lip my first time there! I have very thin and weird shaped eyebrows, but both Erika and Lucy were able to fix them and make them look SOOOO GOOOD. They always do AMAZING JOBS and always make me feel so much better about my eyebrows, but my FAVE thing to get done are my lashes!!! Yuki has worked on my lashes many times and NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!! I started out with a lash lift just to see if I would like them, I ended up loving it so I tried lash extensions and now I can't see myself without them!!! Yuki is always so sweet and kind and is always willing to help me and answer any of my questions without making me feel dumb. And with everything going on in the world right now, they are very good at checking temps at the door and making sure everything is nice and extra clean and everyone has masks on. I have been going here for about two years now- and every single time (and I mean EVERY single time) I don't I absolutely regret it because no one can do my brows like these two ladies. There's only two problems- 1. There isn't any space for people to sit while waiting for their appointments (update from January to July : she put seating!) and 2. The owner Lucy is so rude. She will delay your appointment because she is talking to someone, or not be concentrated on you because she's gossiping. She also can be very aggressive and never answers her phone. They are talented ladies, but I must say that the owner needs a few business lessons. She misleads her customers by saying she takes walk-ins. I had such a bad experience that I will not be returning. I have been going here for quite some time. I always make appointments but decided not to make an appointment because I wasn't sure what time I was getting off work and they have a 3 hr cancelation window. I walk in at 2:45pm. There is one other person waiting and when I ask her if she's been waiting for a while she says she has an appointment at 3:30 but is early. There is one other customer being taken care of by Theresa. So they're obviously not busy. I ask if they take walk ins, they say yes. I asked how long I would have to wait and was told to take a seat, we will be with you shortly. So I sit down, knowing that I'll probably have to wait a while until they get to me. No other person walks in until 3:40. Soon after more people with appointments walk in. Now the waiting area is full with appointment. So I'm thinking ok, how are they going to take care of me if these people are here on their time slots. By this time I've been waiting well over an hour. During my whole time waiting I was never given an update by the owner on how much longer I'd have to wait. I finally got up to ask the owner how much longer do I need to wait . She says I can't take care of you, I'm fully booked but Theresa will take care of you as soon as she is available. She means Theresa, who was not busy so she went to eat her lunch. I ask how do they work-in your walk ins? She says we take them when we are not busy (which I understood as when someone hasn't booked an appointment) and she says the next available time slot...aka appointment... is at 4:20pm. So your saying that I need to make an appointment? I understand walk ins will have to wait more time, but if you are advertising your business as a walk in and by appointment business then you shouldn't have your walk in customers wait for over an hour only to be told to make an appointment. You shouldn't advertise that you take walk ins when in reality your only taking appointments. I would have rather be told upfront we're too busy today and I would have gladly left and came back another day with an appointment. I'm sure their time is as valuable as mine. Guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I hope the owner learns to appreciate her customers so she can continue in business. read more

I needed to write a review for this place because A) I am in love with my eyebrows because of Lucy and B) people who are giving low ratings due to "walk-in" discrepancies . I do not work here. Simply, another random customer who found this place and wanted to give it a try. I came here to get 3D hair strokes in combination with ombre to complete my permanent eyebrows (had to do a combination because I has very little to no hair to start). Anyway, so I came here. Since the consultation, all the way up to her finishing the first permanent makeup procedure/appointment , Lucy and her staff has been nothing, but nice to me! She did an amaaaazing job on my eyebrows. I almost could of shed a tear I was so happy with the results. Well worth the wait, time and money. She will be my go to eyebrow lady from now on and I will refer people because she definitely knows what she is doing when it comes to eyebrows. As for the low ratings regarding the discrepancies about her 'walk-in' policy. No where does it state that she takes walk-ins! People need to freaking take the time and read for pete's sake! Her old policy stated walk-ins, but that was a while ago. So before you give low ratings and ruin her Yelp rating (very inaccurate cause her business does amazing work and they are nice people) take the time to know what you are talking about. If you take the time to READ her website and social media it states that her NEW POLICY REQUIRES BOOKING APPOINTMENTS!! For example, when I was in the middle of my BOOKED appointment a walk-in came in the building asking for Lucy to do threading for her. Lucy kindly advised her that she would need to book an appointment and she doesn't take walk-ins. The customer than proceeded to walk INTO the room that I was getting my procedure done to talk to her and ask her to stop what she was doing with me to take a walk-in. Lucy kindly advised her that A) that it was extremely rude to interrupt another client in the middle of an appointment and B) she would need to book an appointment. The walk-in of course wasn't happy that they couldn't get their eyebrows done and what do they do? Say that the place isn't professional and that they would rather take their business elsewhere. Come on people, what do you expect when you don't READ a businesses policies before going there?! And then you get upset when she can't drop everything to see you? Really? Take my advice and what I just stated for all to see, Brows by Lucy is one of the best if not THE best eyebrows place in Chicago. This current rating for her business is no where near accurate or a good representation of her business. She knows what she is doing and if you don't have the patience, sensibility, or time to read policies than maybe you shouldn't be a client. Just saying! read more
