Ill start off by saying I have not let anyone touch my brows for the last 4-5 years as I was irritated that everywhere I went to would not listen to how I wanted them and would do them either too thin or really uneven. Also, I have really sensitive skin and a lot of people I used to go to could care less. I have 2 babies and too many things to do that I stopped taking care or myself. Typical mom life, ikr. Anyways, I went in to Dorothys and Michelle took great care of me. Not only did she do an amazing job on my brows but she also listened to how I wanted my brows and especially the fact that I have sensitive skin. I have consistently came to Dorthy's for 5 years and have gained them more clients through recommending my friends to come here as well. I love getting my eyebrows done here. But, my only gripe, and why I am choosing to no longer come to Dorthy's, is that I simply do not have the time in my day to wait 25 mins + to get my eyebrows done. The service takes too long. Sometimes there will be 10 people waiting to get their eyebrows done while one person is working. This is how you frustrate and lose customers. My family members and friends have all collectively expressed the same feelings about the wait time here. With that being said, we have decided to take our business elsewhere to another new threading place nearby that is comparable and cheaper. The reason why I am leaving 3 stars is that I loved getting my eyebrows done by Helen and Karen. They are awesome!!! Never left me disappointed. read more

I went in today and Norma helped me out. Before she started I explained exactly what I wanted and asked for her professional opinion. SHE IS AMAZING. I came into Dorthy's with a knot in my stomach. I was getting a Brazilian (not my first time, but first with Dorthy). I felt anxious and nervous but as soon as she started talking she made me feel at ease. She was absolutely amazing and kind. Her personality definitely made me feel confortable and welcomed. My nerves were gone by the time she started waxing. Her work was clean and less painful than other times Ive had a Brazilian. I also got my underarms waxed, it was a bundle on her website. Brazilian and underarm for $61....very affordable in my opinion. 100% recommend this Spa and Dorthy herself. They are taking every precaution during covid. Masks are required. I just left this place with fabulous eyebrows. I have very uneven eyebrows naturally but not when I leave here.. it's like they know exactly what I need I don't have to tell them anything. I was a bit skeptical walking into this Dorthy's, as it's a "party store" too. But, I had some serious catepillars happening on my face and this place is close to my Gram's house. For the longest, I went to a spa in Glenview for my threading - but after relocating my job to the city, that was no longer an option. I've been searching for a good threader since and let me tell you, after going to Dorthy's, I won't go anywhere else. My eyebrows look amazing! I'll gladly take the $9 charge over the $18 I was paying in Glenview also. I wish I could tell you who did them though - I never got her name. Parking tip: if you're facing the storefront, do NOT park in the parking lot to the right (Payless lot) There is a very large sign that states you WILL be towed or across the street (Peaches, Radio Shack). There is a street just left of the shop that will always have available street parking (non-permited) - so you shouldn't get any tickets. read more

I love Dorthy's! It's literally MINUTES from my house. My brows rarely grow due to over plucking in high school (we can all relate haha), and so I come here every few months for a shape up. Recently started getting a tint as well and it makes ALL the difference! Tint lasts about two weeks, and just make my brows look fuller and so beautiful. I appreciate that they always listen to me, and don't Over thread my brows since they're already not super thick to begin with. Threading and a tint costs only $19! I wont be back here again. I was greeted upon arrival and asked to get a number. I waited about 20 minutes until i was called to get my brows. The girl that was doing my brows mumbled everything, i asked her a couple of times to repeat herself and i felt like she was mad because i couldn't understand what she was saying. Like, "can you please put your hand in your forehead and one in your eye PLEASE",also it wouldn't hurt if she at least greets the client. As my first time here i really expected a bit more. Really disappointed. Id rather do my brows my self than to be treated like just another customer and rushed out the door. read more

Who would have thought that the southside would have an amazing eyebrow threading place!! I've driven by this place MANY MANY MANY times in the past 5 years and have seen their sign in the window but was VERY skeptical. I previously had my eyebrows threaded by the most fabulous woman close to my old house but sadly when I moved I was tortured by having to find another place. I figured after driving by so many times I would give Dorothy a try. Well thank god I did! She's amazing. She was SO fast and did exactly what I wanted without having to explain (as I did so many times to other) what I needed. I gave this place 5 complete stars! I went here twice. My first experience was great. I got threading and tinting. The ladies were very sweet and did a great job. My second time around the lady left my eyebrows uneven one is thinner than the other and noticeable. She also made them thinner than what they originally were. I just happened to drive passed this place and I finally made it in there today. On the outside it says they have eyebrow threading and party supplies. Ummm random? One of the big reasons I don't stop at these little places is parking. There is no parking on Archer and it looks like you can park on the side streets. But I always feel a little uneasy since Chicago loves to give parking tickets. I got a pedi at the place across the street so I just parked there. Anyway, this little store is cute inside. It's decorated really brightly and clean. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is when I sat down the girl said she'd be right with me. Then for 5 minutes she was writing a list, talking with another girl and putting in a lunch order. How about you take care of all that stuff when customers aren't waiting in the chair? $8 for eyebrow thread. She missed a few hairs but it did the job. Make sure to get the stamp card. If you get it stamped 9 times, the 10th visit is free. I'll probably come back and give this place another shot. read more

This has been my eyebrow threading place for years. You get a punch card for a discount after your 10th visit so make sure to ask for one. I like to come in the mornings before peak hours, otherwise the wait can be a bit. However, I don't mind the wait. They have a TV, coffee, and tea available for you to enjoy while you wait. The staff is very friendly, hygienic, and as long as you are clear with what you want you will love the results. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! I have been going there since I was about 16yrs old (going on 4 years now). Dorthy is such a beautiful, kind woman. She has perfected my eyebrows! She even hooked me up with a good facial toner when I went through my horrible teen pimple stage. Lately she was not been in there as much but her sidekicks do an amazing job too.
