This is definitely a spot we've enjoyed visiting a couple times. A nice location and plenty of seating. We really quite like the covered patio, as it's basically like sitting inside but so nicely decorated. Parking is around and about in this area if you don't find something right out front, but not too bad of a walk. Our friend always orders the #28 dragon bowl and every time only has good things to say about it. It does have amazing color and looks delightful. This time we tried the Chefs corner items which we were all very happy about. The French Dip was a huge portion, very filling. And nice sides choices like salad, fries, or even poutine. The bread was crispy and tender! We also go the chefs corner Crispy Chicken Ramen. Beautiful! The chicken had a little spice on it but if you aren't into spice they could omit that. Broth was nice and not too spicy even for the little kids. Speaking of kids, nice big bathrooms and a change table! Plus high chairs available too. The server was super great when our son wanted to order a burger and fries even though it 'isn't on their menu' still put a kids one together and even cut it and plated it for my two boys. Our server Meagan was great, checked in with us many times. We sat in the main dining and bar area but the sunroom looks like a really nice place to dine in. Browns may have everything you're looking for: familiar food, decent service, modern decor. For me it was lacking any kind of character. It's really indiscernible from other chain restaurants like earls and moxies. The menu also didn't show a lot of imagination but if you're craving a burger it might hit the spot. We ordered the chipotle chicken and lime pepper grilled halibut street tacos. They were good but nothing special (and the fish was overdone) . I have an interesting perspective on this joint, so let's get started. First off, nice looking venue, though kinda dark on the inside. Oh well, sometimes that's what it takes. I sat at the bar. I was asked within the minute what I wanted to drink. Made the order, and she toodled away. Took a little while to get a menu. I got my beer right away but wasn't given a chance to ask for a menu. 5-10 mins later, I was asked. I received. When it was time to order, I got to order quickly. Nice save, because this was turning in to a 3/5 review. Get my food. I have to say, at first I was a bit concerned. The fries were not numerous, and the burger came in the same basic packaging as an A&W burger (sort of a wax paper half-sack). First couple bites in to the burger I ordered (it was the one with havarti cheese and bacon, I think), and I was getting A&W flashbacks. Weird. It tasted a LOT like a Mozza burger. But not in a bad way. This thing was probably close to 3 times the size of a mozza burger. When I left the place, I was full. I will say this though, what's up with the fries? They're SO GOOD, yet half (or less) the serving of most pubs, and you charge HOW much? I almost gave you guys 3/5 stars because of this, but the fries were really good and the burger itself was fantastic (and an unexpected flavour similar to A&W, but a larger burger). The serving size of the fries definitely kept you from the 5/5 stars club, considering the price of the meal. Oh, and one last thing. When the bartender laid out the serviette and utensils, she made sure the blade of the knife faced in towards the fork. I know, I know... Jeebus Robot, who CARES! Actually, I care. I know the symbolism of this, and it matters to me. I let her know as well, though I didn't elaborate on the importance, as a lot of urban legend enters in to it. Back at Browns and again, like everytime I go they missed an item. My daughter ordered poutine for lunch and after waiting 10 min for the waitress to come by to check and another 10 until it showed up. My father in law had to ask twice for the gravy for his fries. But this time they didn't come and apologize or comp us the poutine which they usually do when they miss items. I think this is now the fourth time in a row we have had someone sitting at our table with no food for more than 15min. Nice atmosphere, more of a "date night" atmosphere, food is higher end and portions are small, if you don't know your food you might not comprehend menu items. Not overly suitable for children or families. Its definitely a "social house" aka bar or lounge with gourmet food options. My wife and I just tried Brown's with excitement and was a little disappointed with our overall experience. A casual atmosphere greeted us when we entered and a three minute wait was more the acceptable. Our waitress was a little slow getting to us so the manager came and took our drink order after ten minutes. We ordered the calamari to start which was a very small portion but arrived very quickly. I ordered the spicy crispy chicken burger with fries and my wife ordered the hickory burger and fries. My chicken burger was lightly battered with a good heat and a spicy mayo, my wife's burger was acceptable but the burger patty was small which was hidden behind a ton of lettuce and tomatoes. Bothe burgers were on the small side. Overall for the price point to food ratio I would say it is unacceptable but if you are looking for a place to have a few beers and a side this would be the place. read more

My wife and I just tried this restaurant. The service was very good, casual but attentive. The food, at least what we ordered was great. Started with the fish tacos that were awesome. Then got the halibut and chips which were lightly breaded, crispy and the fish was really juicy and tasty. The fish batter wasn't greasy at all. The gravy on the side was terrible, I'd skip that next time. I ordered the pepperoni pizza which had thick pepperoni and sliced spicy pepperoncini. The crust was phenomenal and while the pizza was on the small side, it was just enough to fill me up and tasted great. All in all, a really good new restaurant in Red Deer. read more

Went to Red Deer to have a late lunch and stopped in at Browns. We had an outstanding lunch, and the service was even better. Manager came around asking if everything was OK, service was just perfect as her timing was always right on, and she really seemed to care about her customers, and carried herself in a professional manner. My parents are in there mid 80's and she took her time with them and never once looked around in announce, she was a true gem. This is the second time we have taken them there and we will be back for the third. Great place to go when in Red Deer. read more

A great place for groups, couples, singles whatever. Two seating areas. One for waiting to get in to eat, where you can get drinks or appetizers while you wait for your seat. The drinks are great, the food I would say is good. It was a nice place close to home with good food and service that I used to visit for a bite or a drink 1-2 times a week. Now it's just a huge disappointment. Food: Everything doesn't need to have cilantro in it. Why are you always out of rice to make the dynamite sushi roll? The gravy is disgusting. Why don't you give up on brunch? You should take the wings off of the menu because you don't know how to prepare those either. Drinks: You don't know not to shake my gin martini and even after I ask you to stir it you still shake it. The price of the social soda has increased and the amount of slush has decreased. The price of the social lager has increased and the quality has decreased. The only beer I would order here is a Guinness because you can't get away with watering it down or short pouring. Did I mention you don't know how to make a martini? How do you make a long island iced tea without sour mix? Plain lime juice isn't a substitute for sour mix. I could go on... read more

We went last week and were not impressed. The servers are friendly, but it's like they have zero training. So it was frustrating. The food was expensive for the portion size. They were out of ingredients for the first two appetizers that we tried to order to share. The food we did get was OK but it came out cold.
