Very happy with the service we received from Chris & this company for washer/dryer maintenance in our rental. He was very communicative, prompt and professional throughout - from scheduling, arrival timing and in person. He was very sweet to our big dog and gave him some greeting pets. I tried not to ask too many questions during his servicing, but he was very informative and gave a succinct recap of what he did and how to care for the machines before he left, and even vacuumed and tidied up some of the debris that came out from under the machines (unnecessary, but appreciated). We have happily used this appliance repair service in the past without any complaints. Today was different. Chris arrived in a bad mood, angry, sarcastic, and berated my husband for asking questions. His anger escalated from there, and kept berating us as he picked up his equipment and walked out. He got into his truck and sped off. I have never experienced anything like this with a repair company and he is the owner. The extent of his anger frightened me and I will never call them again. Needed a gas cooktop installed and the old one taken out and gotten rid of. Chris Dudenhofer did an amazing job. We had measured correctly but didn't realize our passed Dad/Father In Law, who was a contractor and installed the old cooktop had tiled around the edges to go under the old cooktop edges to make it fit seamlessly. So the measurements were correct but the cooktop could not just drop in bc of the tile. Chris was amazing. He filed the tile to reduce it then brought out the big guns to reduce the tile. He did an amazing job. After more than an hour he had it ready, dropped the new cooktop in, hooked it up and it's wonderful! We highly recommend Browne's Appliance. I never yelp or do reviews but I feel the need to today after experiencing the very very poor service I received today from this so call business. I would give it a minus if I could but 1 is the lowest I can go. This business was highly recommended to me by a friend. The technician got to my house at 1:50. To make a long story short, he was in a VERY foul mood. I heard him talking to someone else on his phone yelling at them he was not coming back out because there was nothing wrong with the appliance etc. That didn't bother me because everyone has off days. BUT when he started getting personal with me because I refused to allow him to take out his frustration(s) on me and talk to me in the manner he thought he was going to be able to, I told him I think it would be best we reschedule when he was in a better mood. He then stated "OH SO NOW YOU ARE MY MOTHER FUC***THERAPIST?" It quickly escalated down from there. He went ballistic...started cussing , dismantled my dryer and refused to put it back together. We were in the process of waiting for a quote when all this happened. So at this point I asked him to put my dryer back the way he found it and leave. He refused. He said he didn't care who I called to take care of putting it back together, F me and my neighbor who witnessed the debacle. He started cussing my neighbor out as well. He then got in his truck speed down my street doing at least 80 miles I kid you not! almost hitting parked cars. He came back into my garage without my authorization for a tool he missed picking up. I kicked him out and we exchanged words again for the last time . I called the business to find out who the owner was and was informed it was him. Imagine that. His name is Chris I was told. He is the Owner and the only Technician for the company. His aggressiveness was TOTALLY unprofessional and not called for. It is my first and last time dealing with this establishment. If he treats his customers like this I can only imagine how he treats his employees ... however few they are. PLEASE think 2 or 3 times before you consider this company. If he happens to get mad in the middle of his work he WILL walk off and not put your appliance back in the original state it was in before he came. He is extremely rude. They seem to have a history of not showing up or calling 30 minutes past their 4 hour window. If you look at previous reviews you'll see others had the same issues. The guy claimed to have called me 3 times. He didn't. I had my do not disturb off, volume to hear every notification, and my call history will tell me if he called. He didn't. I am in the middle of moving and I'm trying to get things done. I waited around for FOUR hours because of this guy. I've lost one day because of him. The last time this happened, I didn't care because I didn't have anything pressing. Now I do. I'll attach photos of call history later. read more

I called this local appliance repair place for my LG washer because it was recommended by a co-worker. Talked with Lisa and I think his name was Ron about my issues. I got the very first appt available which was about a week and a half. Lisa kept in contact with me about my appt and said please be home when Tech got here which I was. Appt was a window 12-4 Chris called about 1:00 saying he was one his way. He was a very nice gentleman and had the problem fixed in 30 min. He told us we needed to be gentle with the washer and not push buttons so hard. Operator error we got off this fairway cheap. $80.00 for service call and labor for 30 min. Would I call them again? My GE oven stopped heating and I replaced the igniter which has failed before and is fairly easy to replace. After replacing the igniter the oven still did not heat and I called Browne's. I spoke with Chris over the phone and he helped me troubleshoot the issue over the phone. After taking his advice on what to look for I replaced the safety control valve and that corrected the issue. In the past two years, all of my appliances in my unit began to fail and need repair or replacement. Today was the 4th time I had Kenneth from Browne come to my place for repairs to my dryer and refrigerator, and everything was repaired perfectly in less than 90 minutes. My fridge is cold again (after weeks living out of coolers and troubleshooting myself) and my dryer runs quiet. Kenneth is professional, always on time, very friendly and personable, and damn good at his job. I just want to thank Chris and Browne's Appliance Service for coming to the rescue and squeezing us in to get our install done the very next morning after I called. I killed my gas cooktop by having a boil over which in turn ruined the components of my old cooktop. I ordered my new cooktop from a big box store but wanted a professional installation, not the generic, in a hurry delivery installers, especially since we are dealing with natural gas. I called many different appliance repair companies around town and they told me they would do a repair on my cooktop, but couldn't install it... I don't understand this, but okay... I called Browne's yesterday morning and they said they would have Chris call me back by the end of the day to schedule an install. Sure enough, just a few hours later Chris, the installer, called me and said he happened to have an opening for our install the following morning. Chris was on time, professional, and fixed an unknown dangerous situation with our cooktop, it turns out the gas fitting was loose and secured with the wrong type of Teflon tape! (quick update now that I looked at the receipt and have exact numbers for cost) ******************************** TL;DR: Broken microwave, took 5 days to even schedule an appt for another 5 days later, charged $80 (Update: it was actually only $69.95) service call fee (without informing ahead of time) to spend 5 minutes to give a $650 repair estimate (Update: actually it was $594.76). Found a different GE company who showed up and had it fixed 10 minutes later for $100 to fix a simple internal switch. ******************************** I had a over-range microwave go bad (flipped breaker whenever it started cooking) on Dec 31 just before noon. My wife found this number related to GE Appliance Repair, she thought it was an official GE sanctioned company, but apparently not. They took 5 days of me calling them daily to make an appointment (semi-forgivable at first, since it was New Year's Eve, but it carried on) and they finally came out almost 2 weeks after initial call. They charged $80 (Update: it was actually only $69.95) service call fee (without informing us ahead of time) to look at our microwave for a minute and say it had a bad magnatron and capacitor, gave a $650 repair estimate (Update: actually it was $594.76), and I'm sure they would have replaced those parts and charged that (and then found it still didn't work). The tech specifically called out that "after disassembling microwave, found magnet on magnetron to be burnt up and separated". I wasn't here at the time, but my wife said all he did was pop the top cover off (not even the main panel with most of the electronics, just the top panel the vents attach through) and shone a flashlight inside, the panel was off for barely a minute. We found an actual GE sanctioned repair company by calling GE support who came with a free service call, took 5 minutes and gave an estimate that was replacing a simple switch (overpriced at $50 part cost by the manufacturer, but whatever), and fixed it in another 5 min for a total cost of around $100. He noted that he had no idea why the Browne's tech had said the magnetron was burnt up or otherwise damaged, it was in perfect shape. He also pointed out that any time he heard that a microwave was flipping a breaker, 90% of the time it was the switch, and it was the very first thing he checked and immediately found it to be faulty. He also went out of his way to verify other parts were fine, especially after hearing a previous tech had reported damage, but everything else was in good shape. If we'd have believed Browne's, we'd either have simply replaced the microwave (at a cost around their repair estimate), or had them fix it, at which point I'm sure they would have replaced the specified parts and charged the $600, had it still not work, and I'm not sure if they'd have realized the switch was the issue or not. I won't speak further to the theoretical, but I'm glad I did NOT continue with them and only wasted $70 on nothing. Maybe they are good with something, this is my only experience with them and it was extremely negative, leaving nothing but the taste of scam in my mouth. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume they were trying to be legit but were just wrong in this case, but I'd rather trust my repairs with someone who can find the easy simple answer before applying the expensive blanket response, and who is more up-front about service fees. read more

My 89 year old husband tried to cook a potato in the microwave for 18 minutes! Started a fire and blew out the microwave. Referred to Browne. Didn't know if it was electrical or just the microwave. Tom told me to get on a step stool, unplug the microwave in the cabinet above and plug in a lamp. Did that, lamp worked, saved an $80 visit from electrician. He then directed me to Aztec Appliance where I ordered the same model online. Could pick it up next day (unlike Home Depot, Lowe's and Amazon which would have taken more than a week, +delivery, + installation + haul way.) Browne was able to install 2 days after I picked it up. Chris did a wonderful job with the installation, very knowledgeable, easy to work with. And hauled away the old one. And, helped find the button to reset the garbage disposal as well!! I had a problem with my refrigerator that involved a bad smell, most likely coming from the drip pan. Access to the drip pan required a service call and I used Browne's for the first time. Chris came out promptly and determined what was causing the problem. He had to order a part but cleaned the drip line well to help me get by and returned with the new part. I haven't needed any appliance repairs for years and years....until all at one time! I called Browne's thinking they were the same as years ago. Evidently, they changed ownership since the last time I had any problems, which is always a concern. In this case, the business is the same...or better! Browne's was acquired by an employee and they are as good as they ever were!! First, our refrigerator was not keeping the temperature as low as it normally did and Ken came over and checked it. He needed to order parts, but first checked everywhere locally. Within a day, he had the parts and returned asap to fix the refrigerator! He knew our refrigerator was on it's last legs and came back as soon as he could! Next, I purchased a very nice, used Maytag washing machine and I had them check and clean it, because it had not been used in a year or two. Tom looked at it and said it was a good washer and checked it out for a nominal fee and it's been working great! Then our dryer went down, so I spoke to Tom and he was more than helpful and fixed the problem in one day! I dropped it off late in the day, he worked on it the next day and it was ready the following day! It is an older model, but he came up with both new, and used parts to get it back working again....plus, with his experience, he found and corrected a couple of other minor issues. Not only did Tom and Ken do a great job, it didn't drain my bank account, their charges are very reasonable!! By the way, Browne's works on all appliances, not just Maytag, so they'll be hearing from me again soon! read more

The incident that prompted this review happened a couple of years ago. I just logged into my Yelp account and discovered that, like an idiot, I'd forgotten to finish it. Well, better late than never, and Browne's definitely deserves kudos for what they did for me. This my first review, and Browne's is a business I didn't even end up patronizing . . . despite my best efforts. Our washing machine died spectacularly, and I'm handy enough to have taken it apart and determined the bearings on the spin basket had failed. I called Browne's to order parts and ask advise. I was transferred to a technician named Tom, and over the next several days Tom made multiple calls around the country looking for my parts and a solution to my problem. Tom updated me frequently by phone and email. Ultimately, Tom determined my parts were out of production and he didn't feel confident in the substitute parts suggested by the manufacturer. Meanwhile, we found our same machine, a bit more beat up cosmetically and advertised with a water leak, in the internet classifieds. I asked Tom what he thought of buying it as a donor machine. He thought it was a great idea and walked me through how to determine the bearings were in good condition before I paid for the machine. We bought the donor machine. I swapped the spin baskets, and Voila! Like a brand new washing machine. I can't say enough good about a business that provides this kind of customer service. This was on the weekend and I received a call Monday morning.I was given a 12-4 window and was so happy to get call around noon that he was on his way. On 6/15/22 the repair man (the owner!) came to work on my washing machine. The first thing he said to me was "this is not what I had planned for the end of my day" before he even started. He then proceeded to work on the machine yelling and swearing the whole time (about 30 minutes). I had to listent to him yell, cuss out his employees (they were not there) and throw things the entire time. I stayed away from him because his behavior was so unprofessional and erratic that it was too disturbing to intervene. When he came to collect his fee he was very rude and told me "I broke my F**ng tool". I will never use this repair service again. This is our local business owner and my family and I have used them for over 40 years with the previous owner (Debbie). How sad to end an ERA like this! read more

I guess he was in a bad mood, because I said I wanted to replace our built in range oven, and he explained there was no such thing, I tried again to explain we had a separate burner / oven and wanted to replace that with one unit and I mentioned the word built in and he literally went ballistic, hung up the phone and said he was done. I figured he was in a bad mood so called back, and he just starts cursing and swearing saying how he's done with 2020 and he doesn't want my business.. We needed a glass replaced in our double oven door. We had taken the door apart in order to remove the broken glass, and had obtained a replacement glass. A that point it was like a jigsaw puzzle with the door all apart. We called Browne's and Ken came out the next business day and within an hour had it all back to together and working fine. read more
