They even had to order a part for my very old dryer, I expected it to take days to come in but he was able to get the part in less than 24 hours made it a point to let me know as soon as the part came in and squeezed me in same day, before the weekend so I could have a working dryer for weekend laundry! Tom seems like a nice guy in person. But I agree with others that he likely wants to just collect a trade call fee from your home warranty company and do little else to help you. He doesn't respond to my phone calls, texts, or voicemails. But he will pick up promptly when the home warranty company calls him on the other line. He admittedly installed a faulty control board for our built-in microwave and promised that he would recommend that the entire unit be replaced. The faulty control board was supposed to be a temporary solution so that our range light turns on. But now the problem is that it never turns off. Long story short, Tom never made this recommendation to the company and told them our problem was solved. Now, if we want someone else to look at the microwave, we'll have to pay another trade call fee. I wish more people had a conscience in this world. read more

Do not bother with this guy. He takes forever to show up, he's a no call & no show at the 2 hour appointment window that he promises, then he finally shows up after ignoring your calls and messages and is mad that you didn't spend 8 hours of the day waiting for him 2 show up. When he finally did show up, he spent 5 minutes looking at the problem and said he'd be in touch. Here we are 3 weeks later and he still hasn't reached out and is ignoring calls and messages. He was sent to me by First American Home Warranty (which is a whole different scam on its own) and he took so long to look at the problem that they're denying the claim. Im convinced that he knows that First American Home Warranty will deny the claims anyway, so he just collects on the $85 service call fee to spend 5 minutes giving a sad report to them knowing that he'll never actually have to do any work on the call. read more

My Hotpoint dryer "On/ Start" setting broke late Friday and I called Thomas to set up an appointment for Monday as it was not an emergency. He arrived on time and within a half hour he fixed my problem by moving the start knob to another opening in the front panel of my dryer! I called about an issue with my fridge after my warranty sent me to ABZ. I will admit than when I wasn't given an appt window I was a little wary. However he returned my call the next day, cAn when he said he would and was very professional. He explained my repair and what was needed to fix it. He even asked for some towels so the he wouldn't trek the dirty dust behind the fridge around my kitchen. The repair was done in 20 minutes and he made sure to leave my kitchen floor the way he found it. Despite my initial concern, I would recommend ABZ. Update- well 34 days after this call, my fridge broke again for the exact same problem. Of course my warranty company won't guarantee the work after 30 days. Had to call ABZ this time about my washing machine. All of a sudden it was leaking on the ground. They were out in a jiffy. He took apart the entire washing machine and carefully examined each and every hose/part. In the end it was user error (can you believe that). The spring didn't retract the entire way and when I was shoving blankets in, the pour spout poured outside of the bin. Unbelievable- I've been doing laundry for 40 years you would think I had the hang of it. He charged be a fair price (especially for being an idiot). I will be calling them in the future! ABZ Appliance is a scam. I called July 9, 2021 to have my oven fixed because the fan wouldn't turn on. It is now 3+ months later (10/18/21) and the oven is now in a worse place than before and doesn't even turn on. The company is only one person (Tom) and while he was always consistently bad at communication and never took the initiative to call first, he has now stopped picking up my calls and they're going straight to voicemail. He visited at least 7 times to try fixing the oven but ultimately he just yanked it in and out of the wall until it no longer worked and after wasting 3 months I now need to buy an entirely new oven. read more

Overall I was satisfied with the service that Tom provided, but the difficulty in scheduling an initial appointment kept this from being a 5-star review. I used ABZ through my home warranty provider to fix a non-functional burner on an electric stove. Tom was initially difficult to get ahold of. The first time I called he said he wasn't in the office yet so couldn't schedule anything, but said he'd call back. Several hours later I hadn't heard back, so called again. He said he was driving back to his office from a service call and would call back within 45 minutes. An hour and a half later I called again but the call went to voicemail. I had to go through my home warranty company to let them know that I had been unable to schedule. They put me on hold to call Tom and a few minutes later I had an appointment scheduled. Once I got through scheduling, the repair was fairly painless. Tom called the morning of the appointment to let me know he'd be coming by. He arrived well within the promised timeframe, completed troubleshooting quickly, explained the problem to me (bad heating element), and requested authorization to repair from my warranty company. A few weeks later he called again to let me know that the part had come in and scheduled a time to install. Again he called the day of to confirm and arrived within the scheduled timeframe. I called to setup the appointment at 1pm on my husbands day off, however, an hour passed by and he never showed up. Hubby called and asked what was going on, and was told we were scheduled for the next day - which we never would have agreed to because it was a work day for the both of us. Taking it as a simple scheduling error, we agreed to make the appointment for the next day at 3pm (after work). We have a Maytag oversize capacity top loader washing machine that I originally purchased from a Sears discount store ten years ago in 2003. When the machine went into the spin cycle, it made a very loud noise, almost sounding like it was going to explode. I phoned Tom and put the phone next to the washer so he could hear the sound. He spent the next 15 minutes with me on the phone and explained the bearings went out and costly to replace ($400). (Apparently, this is a problem with older Maytag washing machines; remember the Maytag TV commercials? They lied!) He further recommended buying a new machine and said Lowe's or Home Depot are good places to check. Regarding brands, Tom suggested SpeedQueen, which is a bit more pricey, but has a longer warranty. He said Whirlpool pretty much makes most washing machines today, and GE is expensive when replacing parts. Whoa~ Tom is legit!! Everything they say about him on here is true. Found my "minor" issue within minutes, he could of "made up" a bigger issue that would of brought him more money for the trip, but he just switched a knob, and said its good to go. Needed my washer fixed. Called this company based on a friend's recommendation. The man I spoke to was rude. Before I could explain my problem he told me my drain line was probably clogged (it wasn't) and asked if I'd checked it. When I tried to explain the problem he just kept interrupting me and saying I needed to check the drain line, and trying to explain how to check it. I wanted to say, "Dude, if I knew what to look for and how to check it I wouldn't be calling you." He finally ended the call very abruptly by telling me he'd call me right back. I think the worst thing about appliance repair, is wondering if they are trustworthy or not. I mean, they could tell you anything and charge you through the nose and how would you know? My Dryer stopped working and ABZ came out the day I called, diagnosed the problem and ordered the proper part. I was charged nothing for the diagnostic trip, which shocked me (in a good way). Had problems with my washer and dryer. Tom came out on the time slot alloted. He fixed our washer and dryer no problem. The washer still walked during spin cycle so I called him. Tom spent almost an hour on my Maytag washer breaking it down and looking for why it was frozen in the wash cycle, before declaring it officially dead. He charged me a minimum amount for the diagnosis. Followed up with advice on purchasing a new washer, and pointed out the rinse supply line should be glued in before I brought in my new washer. I was so pleased, I tipped him, (yes, people you should tip repair people if you are happy) and he told me I gave him too much. Now that's honest. Thank you, Tom. Want to add I think the owner must have sold this place, because I called them again to fix my refrigerator. I made appointments and no one showed up. I knew what part was needed and gave the info to the guy. I called again and whoever it was said he was waiting for a part. I waited a month and called again and waited for a call back. A great business to use for any appliance fixings. I have used them for dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine. They are reasonably priced and try to get there the same day. I never hesitate to call them when my appliances go down. Highly recommend this company. Once my front load washer was leaking, they gave me an option to replace a whole seal or to use an epoxy to fix the crack. I chose the epoxy and this was over four years ago, saved me a few hundred dollars and has not leaked since! I love it when businesses are ethical and don't try to rip you off. read more

So grateful to have found ABZ appliance repair on Yelp. My dryer started making horrible noises and created a spark when the drum was turned. I called ABZ on a Wednesday night after the hours said they were technically closed. I spoke with a nice man who gave me a very rough estimate based on what I thought might be wrong with the dryer (I was totally wrong). He offered to come first thing Thursday morning but I told him I wouldn't be home till 4:30 so he told me he'd be at my house between 5-6. He fixed the dryer in about an hour and really tested it out to make sure it was working correctly before he left. the dryer is now quieter than ever. The technician was very polite and got right down to business. I was home alone at the time, but he didn't not make me feel uneasy at all, which I think is important for women to know...some guys can be pretty sketchy. The best part was how reasonable the price was. I was expecting to have to cancel my hair appointment next week, but luckily the price was so fair and I was able to download a coupon for 20% off my service, and he actually gave me a little more than 20% off he just rounded the cost down. My Kenmore (LG) washer stopped mid-cycle and started flashing an error code. When I looked at the manual it essentially said "call a repair person." I found ABZ from looking on Yelp for reviews. All I wanted was someone who would be honest and fix it quickly. I called ABZ and they came out the next afternoon. He looked at the washer, tried a few things, and then took a photo, saying he would do some research on the part and call me that afternoon. I did receive a call that afternoon, and unfortunately the part was out of stock and would take two weeks to get. He promised he would do whatever he could to get it here earlier. Within three days, he was back with a part that should have worked. He had tracked down the only LG control board that was available in our area. When it didn't work, he mentioned that he had done a couple hours of research on our washer and this error code, and looked over every part of the washer, trying to find another reason it wasn't working. He checked a few things, made a few adjustments and suddenly, the washer was up and running again! The problem was an obscure temperature sensor wire, and the only reason he knew to check for that was because of the research he had done. The service provided by ABZ was honest, prompt and went beyond what I would have gotten from most (if not all) appliance repair places. His rates were more than reasonable and knowing how much time he put into our issue, I anticipated the bill being higher than it was. We were referred to ABZ for a dryer fix by our home warranty company. Tom, the owner, arrived and appeared to diagnose the problem, but told us that he didn't have the part to fix it. He said that he could get it the next business day, but that he would mail it to us because he didn't want to drive back to our house to drop it off. Our newer high efficiency washing machine started leaking water all over the floor. I looked up local Appliance repair people around the East County and found ABZ. They came out within 2 hours, diagnosed the problem, and executed the repair (which was not simple I might add). Their Pricing was more than fair, and with 3 kids, 3 dogs, and lots of laundry we are happy to have our washer back in action. Service man Tom just left. Was right on time for appointment. Very courteous, greeted me and my dogs. Went right to work, found the problem quickly and had my dishwasher repaired with in 20 min. He then went on to explain what had happened, showed me the bad part, and explained how the dishwasher work because of this part. He was kind enough to explain some to the workings of the dishwasher to me and educate me on ways of energy efficiency, which I greatly appreciated. I was very impressed with this company. They were able to come a few days after I called and immediately knew what was wrong with my machine and had the part right there with him. Unfortunately he did not have enough time to run the machine to check his work, so when I returned from my trip and started using it, it was doing something new. Called ABZ to fix ice-maker on frig, I believe owner came out and installed a new part. I called back a few days later and indicated to him that the ice-maker was still not working ($250.00 repair bill).He said he would order the part and come back. After 6 weeks never heard from him, even stating he would call me, never did.I finally got a hold of him and he said he would come out Thursday between 10:00-12:00 p.m.. He never called or showed. I called again and said I was calling the BBB. He said he was going to order another part and would come back, it has been over two months.
