So, I originally wrote a bad review and have since taken it down. I contacted Good Guy Appliance, and Vitaliy (the owner) had a service technician come take a look at our washing machine. The problem was that the technician never got back to us with our quote for the repair, even after I called a couple of times. After a week, I just wrote a bad review, thinking they did not want our business. The owner reached out to me after that and explained his technician was new and forgot to send us the quote. He apologized profusely, and he went above and beyond to make things right. You could tell he prides himself and his company on the quality of work they do. He ended up helping us repair our drying machine that just had a belt snap a few days ago. He was honest and sincere and very knowledgeable. Made the whole experience great. I called Good Guy Appliance Service for a washer repair. Vitaliy came out for a service call the next day and was able to diagnose the issue in short order. Unfortunately the repair required uncommon parts that needed to be shipped in, so I was stuck without a washer for a few days. Once it came in, Vitaliy notified me and came out for another visit. Vitaliy is an honest and knowledgeable professional. It seems he's trying to build a long term reputation. Doing it the old school way, with good quality work, reasonable price, and word-of-mouth (this review). I liken it to "that car mechanic" that you entrust to service your car on maintenance items over the life of the vehicle. Another tip he gave me was to reach out the manufacturer about the broken part, since it was only a 2.5 year old part that should have lasted the life of machine. And the replacement part had been revised several times, so maybe a design flaw with the component. Well I took his advice and did just that, which resulted in the manufacturer offering partial compensation for the repairs. If you're looking for appliance repair job, give them a call. He doesn't seem in the business of blindly replacing components at your cost and going through volume of service calls. IMO he fixed my appliance with same perspective and considerations as if I were doing it myself: cost, inconvenience, durability. While I hope I never need another appliance repair, it's a statistical improbability that my appliances magically reach end of life without ever breaking. So I'm glad I won't have to roll the dice next time to find an appliance repairman. read more

We have an LG refrigerator with an ice maker that intermittently leaks. Marcus came out and did a thorough job of looking at the problem...which was not easy because the problem is intermittent. As it turns out he couldn't definitively figure out what the problem was and was honest about it. He could have easily said we needed a new ice maker or a new water valve, each costing about $300-350. But he didn't. He was honest, competent and timely. I first used Good Guy Appliance about a year ago to repair my dishwasher. Tim did an excellent job, and it's still running perfectly. More recently, I had an issue with my 20+ year-old Thermador gas cooktop. The extra-low simmer burners stopped working, though the regular burners still worked. I tried diagnosing it myself and suspected the simmer control board. Unfortunately, since the cooktop is so old, the part is no longer manufactured. I even sent my board to a refurbishment company, but they said it couldn't be repaired due to a proprietary chip failure. I bought a used board from a reputable eBay seller, installed it, and still no luck. At that point, I called Good Guy Appliance. Vitaliy came out, was courteous and professional, and listened to everything I'd tried. After checking the unit and doing some research, he agreed the likely culprit was the control board and confirmed the part was discontinued. He even helped me search for alternative sellers on eBay and suggested trying another board. I ordered a replacement, installed it and it worked! (Tip: if you buy parts on eBay, make sure your seller accepts returns, I was able to return the non-working board for a refund.) Thank you Vitaliy for your help! Noticed water seeping out between our stucco base and our patio concrete and realized it was our dishwasher. Called Good Guy Appliance after reading reviews (and a local!). He diagnosed the problem quickly, provided a reasonable estimate for repair but had to order the parts. However, based on the nature of the leak, he suggested I hire a mold inspection because the leak looked like it had been there for awhile. That stopped my heart $$$! But.. good advice. No mold, but half our kitchen was wet under our floor from this long term leak! After the asbestos mitigation, dry out and reconstruction, this ended up being expensive repair, but not as expensive should black mold develop. Thanks for taking the time to advise me about this, Rich! Rich returned a few days later after the received the parts and installed them, the actual repair was less expensive than the estimate! However, the reason I'm recommending Good Guy (Rich) is because he advised I install a dishwasher "drip tray" when the restoration crews put our dishwasher back together. This $20 part would've saved us a lot of money from this water damage! I had never heard of these before. He whipped out his phone and showed me examples that were for sale. Would other businesses take the time to talk to you about this? Not in my experience. Rich was responsive, on time, respectful of our home and very communicative about everything. His estimate was reasonable and our invoice ended up being a bit less than the estimate. Good vibe of an honest tradesman here with a lot of field & experience knowledge of his trade that lets him quickly diagnose, accurately estimate and get the repairs done correctly. Have had two excellent repair experiences with Good Guy Appliance. I've needed repairs on my 48 in Sub Zero refrigerator and Viking 36in Chimney Wall Mount hood. In both cases, Rich was very up front around what was involved in the service, the process to diagnose the issue, the pricing, and what was needed to complete the repair. Each repair started with sending a photo of the serial number so that he could doublecheck the specifications. I liked that he was clear about what repairs that were straightforward to work on. And we could figure a lot of that out on the phone before the visit. For example, some Viking hoods have control boards - which does mean a potentially more intensive repair effort. Both repairs were completed quickly and professionally. The Sub Zero had a problem with the "warmer" that keeps the ice chute from frosting up. Essentially, the ice maker was unusable. That repair was completed 18 months ago and is still going strong. He just repaired my Viking and the dimmer works perfectly now. He let me know that it's the same part in case I have issues with the variable speed fan. I highly recommend Good Guy Appliance. They did a great job, especially given that both Sub Zero and Viking can be more challenging to work on. read more

My washing machine was not working for a few days. i emailed Good Guys on Sunday and they responded later that day to say they had a few slots open on Monday. They called me Monday and came out between 1pm and 3pm. Rich said it's probably a clog in the machine and if not we will go from there. A++++ Rich did an outstanding job in fixing my 16 year old dryer. The belt was broke but he soursed the maintence kit all the way in San Marcos amd drove back to Poway. Now my dry is like new. I end up returning the washer and dryer that I purchased online from CostcO.com related to the delivery service (XPS) rating was horrible. Plus Rich said the my dryer was fine due to the fact that the older dryers were made so much betteR than the newer ones. But parts are sometimes are to come by.
