First of all this place is PRICEY!!!! $100 per person is wildddddd however your paying for the experience for sure and to be fair I did leave comfortably full. We got the seafood upgrade and everything was flavorful and delicious. The teas were good too and everything came with all the "fixins". I wish I could buy that Lemon curd by the jar. Most of the reviews on here are for the high tea experience. Which I too have experienced, but I don't think many know of the hidden gem of the coffee bar, just tucked inside the doors. It is very tiny and easy to miss. But if you want a quick coffee and delectable pastries to go, this is your place. Coffee and pastries are two things that make me happy. I have been coming here for years. I work nearby so it's a delightful alternative to the standard Starbucks prepackaged pastries. The staff is friendly and professional. The place is tiny but clean. The Brown Palace pastries are always fresh. They have a wide variety of espresso drinks. They are made with Lavazza italian coffee, that has a deep, dark rich flavor. I have tried many of their pastries over the years and the almond croissant is my favorite. I have tried the almond croissant at many of the shops around town but Brown Palace makes it the best and the most traditional. I have also tried the Chocolate croissant which is a decadent heaven of rich, creamy chocolate. The Apple purse is a good choice, filled with a hearty amount of apples. It is a favorite in the fall when the weather changes. I tried the cupcake for the first time which was a silky vanilla icing on the moistest lemon cake. A treasure to alleviate the pains of a long day back in the grind. I saw today that they even have breakfast burritos now. I can't to try one of those. Before ordering, the waiter asked about any allergies, and when I said I had celiac disease he said that it's super common and they have great precautions put in place. My girlfriends and I each brought pastries from our favorite bakeries and went to a host's house where she served tea, it was a much more scrumptious event. The teas were ok, I have access to better green teas at home. Don't really care for English and/or fruity tea. The English finger sandwiches are delicate and refreshing. Scones are filling and desserts are dainty and pretty. Certain items were refillable so you definitely won't leave feeling hungry. There was a lot of potential here, but the only Taylor Swift-centric incorporations were some sparkly looking cookies and Taylor Swift themed trivia - which the MC took so long to get the results back we had already finished our 90-minute reservation and had to loiter in the lobby to hear the answers. Awkward. Food was tasty but no better than other afternoon tea spots around Denver. The tea selection was very disappointing. They had a decent handful of options, but you were only allowed to choose one and had to stick with it the entire time. This is not how afternoon tea should work. The building is very unique and there is a lot to look at given it's history, but be warned that parking is a bit of a nightmare - I personally took a Lyft. On the whole... Had Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace Grand Atrium room. The venue is stunning and when got there they were alittle behind schedule so we walk around, explored, and then they seated us about 20-25 minutes after our reservation. I have been to a couple of other afternoon tea events so I understood the general flow but I do think they could have done a better job of explaining. I was not aware that once you picked a tea that was the only tea you were going to get throughout the entire event. I would have thought you got to pick other teas to try later. Additionally, they just give you a little pot with tea leafs and continuously refill it with hot water so by the end your tea is very diluted which I didn't not like and for $70 I would like to not drink diluted tea. This was like a dream! We had just seen the western museum of art across the street . We had no idea tea was served daily when we stepped in looking for lunch. We have had tea at the empress Victoria annually for ten years, and locally at the tea House in Los Rios many many times. This was better! I think 4 stars is accurate. Made a reservation for a party of six, a week prior. Called a few days prior to change my reservation to two people. The concierge did not answer. I left a voice message with my updates. The host was not informed of my updates when we arrived. I wasn't surprised after briefly speaking with the concierge in person. One was nice and the other was very average. We parked across the street and spent $20 on parking. We had a 11am reservation. They had valets, but the one way roads made it difficult to get to them. The host working on 1/11/2024 was awesome. Between her and the piano player... they represented in a first class manner. They both deserve to be recognized. The service from the servers was average / par. The host deserves to level up and become a server. The ambiance was outstanding. The presentation was superb. The food and the tea were delicious. I believe the food is endless. One of the servers brought us a second plate and dropped it abruptly on top of a previous plate. The tea and food was $75 per person with the current decorations up. The price would have been more with champagne. Personally, I would never want to come back for this service. My wife however absolutely loves it. And that's why we arrived for her birthday. The piano player played her a birthday song on the piano. That was an awesome touch with a birthday cupcake and candle they brought out. I was happy to put some money in his tip jar. He was awesome. We left feeling full and they put some remaining items in a takeout container. I'm happy for the experience. We will have a cool video for our YouTube channel. I really enjoy the tea selection and the sandwiches are so tasty!!! The pastries are okay but the sandwiches really top it! The first time we went we got the food before the tea which was a little strange but nonetheless good experience. The staff is also very friendly so it's nice to just enjoy tea and order. You get choice a selected tea of your choice accompanied by homemade scones with Devoshire cream, preserves, finger sandwiches & an exquisite selection of classic tea pastries. Fine dining and a splash of something you would ordinarily not do! A very nice treat yourself too! We went to the Ship bar after relaxing a bit. Nice place but bartender was a bit rude, but also overwhelmed with the customers. So that was only ding. We did return to the same bar before midnight for a night cap and it was a whole better experience. This is definitely a must visit to do list for anyone. There are two tea options, the standard which comes with one pot of tea and a tea set and the champagne option for $5 more which includes a glass of bubbly and a truffle. We opted for the OG and enjoyed everything-- my friend ordered blue jasmine green which is a fragrant jasmine green colored a pretty blue with pea flower. I tried the pu'er bordeoux which was flavored with subtle hints of fig and blackberry The tea set was lovely, including a bright tart lemon curd to go with the scones. The sandwiches were-- the egg salad and cream cheese were better than the cucumber and tuna as the latter two were somewhat dry. The desserts included a cinnamon numteg custard tart, a raspberry pistachio cheesecake, a raspberry thumbprint cookie and a peppermint cheesecake. I've had the chance to do afternoon tea at the Brown Palace twice. I recently went back after a decade (ahh!) and it was just as good as I remember. I ordered just the tea and food (no add on's), but trust me, this left me completely satisfied and full. I have been here several times over the last 8years and almost didn't book it due to a review saying that they bought low quality stuff from a grocery store. Last I'd gone, they clearly baked their own scones and made their sandwiches. I worried post covid the quality had changed. Nope. Still the same. Service is great, they change up the tea offerings and we got an amazing peach white tea. I took my mom and 3 year old and we all behaved nicely and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. They served jam in a tiny personal jar but it was a nice quality jam and we enjoyed it all. They brought us another plate of sandwiches complimentary (they don't always do that though, not sure what provokes it hehe). We left a generous tip and looked around the hotel before leaving. If you want to have a nice high tea experience in a historic hotel in Denver Colorado, listening to a skilled piano player offering up a selection of tunes to accompany the elegant surroundings and delicious assortment of elegant high tea delicacies.... The do NOT go to The Brown Palace. First of all, we were greeted by their hostess Lynn. A sarcastically and supremely rude woman who seemed to make it the business of her afternoon to ensure that we either had an unpleasant experience at that establishment OR that we left without even having so much as a sip of water. We opted for the latter. We quickly decided that there was no way we would spend our honest American dollars at such a place that would treat us so poorly. So I'll back track and explain what happened. We had reservations for noon but were running about 30 minutes late. We called ahead to see if they still held our reservations and were prepared to go elsewhere if they didn't since it was our fault that we were running late. The person who we spoke to said that it was okay that we're 30 minutes late because they "hold reservations for four (4) hours". She assured us that it was okay and encouraged us to still come because we would still be seated. Upon arrival at circa 12:35pm, we were greeted by the hostess Lynn and she proceeded to seat us at a table in an aisle with heavy foot traffic near the entrance of the atrium squeezed between a table on one side that had loud cackling guests and another that had two guests enjoying their meal. Our server came and welcomed us and we asked her if we could move to a table we saw that was across the room in a quieter, less crowded section of the dining area and she said that we certainly could. Soon after we sat down, Lynn came over and told us that we couldn't sit there. We asked her why and she said that the table was reserved for other guests who had reservations but hadn't yet arrived. We asked her why we, who also had reservations AND had arrived, should be made to sit at a less desirable table in lieu of Lynn's "yet-to-arrive" guests. She had no response to that except to say that it wasn't fair for us to take the table of guests who were keeping to their time (again, said alleged guests were nowhere in sight), so we could only sit at that table for 45 minutes. We politely expressed to Lynn that we also were guests with reservations, we had called ahead and been encouraged to still come and could see no reason why those of us who were there in the flesh had to leave a perfectly good table for Lynn's preferred customers. At this point we expressed our displeasure directly to Lynn herself who immediately followed up with a patronizing "well I'm sorry YOU feel offended". None of us needed Lynn's fake sympathy because we ourselves were not sorry for ourselves that we were offended. Lynn's micro aggression and subtle, yet not subtle, rudeness coupled with her fake air of superiority was all the reason we needed to decide that this establishment will never, repeat, NEVER, get our support or our dollars. People like Lynn should not be the hostess or act as the face of the establishment. It's a very bad look in more ways than one and horrible user experience. Perhaps my friends and I don't look like the sort of guests people like Lynn want at The Brown Palace Coffee & Tea... We will never know. I do NOT recommend at all. read more

What can I say? You have to at least have tea here during the Christmas season once in your life. It is just so beautiful, historic, and inviting. We generally do this once and year and my favorite tea to order is the masala chai! The service is generally really good; we are pretty patient because it is always packed . The snacks are good and there is a cranberry white chocolate scone (I think that's the flavor) that is so delicious with the cream and jam. I also love the sandwiches except for the cucumber one. To me it is bland and not as tasty as the others, but hey they can't all be winners. I took a star only because the snacks have either been hit or miss depending, and I think it's pretty expensive for what you get. We've been coming here for many years. It's become a family girls' tradition for the holiday season. Today we arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservation, but that was fine. They got our table ready and we were sat pretty much right away. Service was prompt and friendly. We chose the earl grey with lavender and oolong with coconut teas. We should have told them we wanted vegetarian, since one of the offerings this year is beef Wellington sandwiches. It was quickly remedied with more of the egg salad and cucumber, which were very good. At the beginning of our visit, the piano guy was playing seasonal music which was beautiful, and really adds to the atmosphere. However, maybe he took a break since he wasn't there for the rest of the time. No one's fault, really, but it took away from the experience. Just unfortunate timing. The food was....somewhat disappointing. We've come to love and appreciate the quality and selection, but it was not the case today. All but one scone was over baked and...crunchy. There was a lot of ginger represented for some reason: in a cupcake, candied in one of the types of scones (it was a chocolate one...yuck) and in a macaron which had a weird texture. Overall the food was just not as spectacular as we had grown so used to over the years. We opted for the Royal Palace tea service which includes a dark chocolate truffle and glass of champagne for $5 on top of the standard tea service.
