I went to Brothers on Cleveland Ave this morning on my break first time there, it used to be another restaurant before brothers it even has a drive thru. The inside was nice interior plenty of tables 2 tv . Service was friendly and fast I tried the biscuits and gravy the mushroom gravy with biscuits it was a vegetarian dish plus I had the Angus rib hash with poached eggs and avocado.The biscuits and gravy was not so great the gravy was kinda runny not thick bland in flavor and the biscuit was dry I was not impressed. The angus rib hash with poached egg with avocado was also disappointing the meat was kinda dry again bland in flavor and again the biscuits was dry. A jewel-what a wonderful find!! This place is worth a commute from Petaluma or anywhere in santa Rosa or for that matter from anywhere! We stumbled in hungry one afternoon and had amazingly delicious and hamburgers! Mine was fresh Bison. I had avocado, bacon and all kinds of great things on it. Most things are homemade , today we're having breakfast and trying out there pancakes and French toast, although it was a difficult decision because they have an apple Dutch baby on the menu!!! I went to this cafe yesterday and the food was delicious. My only complaint is they were wiping down silverware during the lunch rush and the cafe is already loud with chatter and the banging of the silverware made it impossible to talk to who I was with. I understand the need to wrap the silverware and buff them but tossing them back in to the containers as they crash makes eating there unpleasant. I don't want to sound like a "Karen" but I'd like to go back but not with that level of noise. The chatter I can deal with. The crashing of silverware the entire time was too much. read more

Unlike others we weren't as impressed unfortunately. It started off well except that it was a hot day and even hotter inside. The service all around is terrific and very friendly. The salad was just right. I judge cafes and diners on their French Dips and that started off well. The bun was toasted just right and the au jus looked thick and hearty unlike others that are all watery but there were 3 problems. The au jus was far too reduced and very salty but worse was the roast beef that I'd guess they get pre-sliced as the slices weren't separated -- so it was just a glob of chewy roast beef. On top of that were oyster mushrooms which were also very chewy. And it was missing horseradish imo. The fries were alright but I'd have liked a seasoning. My husband got the coconut curry but he didn't like it saying it tasted fine but the mix of ingredients including penne pasta just didn't work for him. We're almost tempted to give them another try as it was quite busy - mostly elderly folks - it sounded like the steak was most folk's order. Anyway 5 stars for the staff but 2 stars for the food. That chewy almost gummy roast beef and oyster mushroom combo ruined it. read more

The biscuits and sausage gravy were very bland, biscuits were more like shortbread cookies - not sure why, but they served half a biscuit on the plate, then sliced the other half up in slices and crumbles spread all over the plate. Presentation was terrible, flavor was nonexistent. My 3-year old daughter spit out a piece of plastic wrapping from her eggs. It was transparent with blue ink. We let the server know, who came back and claimed that it was egg - he even bit on it to test. This was 100% plastic. Also noteworthy, the party next to us sent back their Dutch Baby for being undercooked. 2 stars because I feel like we ordered the wrong food at a decent place. I had fish and chips and my husband had the steak filet on a salad, however he asked if they could put it on a Ceasar salad instead of the regular salad and they were very accommodating. I unexpectedly popped in here after a long morning and just needed the basics for breakfast. It's kinda an odd place. Think 1990s McDonald's with the good ol' land lord make over treatment. The staff all wore trucker headsets for their drive through (?) even while waiting tables and on their breaks; and the dining room had thick white paint, and a few inexpensive cosmetic upgrades. I was one of five tables on a Wednesday, mid-morning for breakfast. I ordered biscuits and gravy with potatoes and eggs, a fruit cup and coffee. The food came out fast, but it lacked flavor and felt designed to just crank it out, The bland gravy flooded the plate so much so that it was ready to drip off the rim, and the biscuits were dense with almost cornbread-like or even unsalted under mixed bread consistency- which was really a let down. The potatoes, while fried, had a nice firm texture and the eggs (poached) were also nicely done. The prices seemed reasonable, the service was prompt. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I feel like they could definitely do better. read more

I was browsing through towns near me to visit and ended up choosing Santa Rosa. A site that allegedly showed best breakfast places there mentioned this place first so here I was. I like that they have an awesome big view (depending on where you're sitting), cheerful/great staff, classic coffee, and of course a pretty good breakfast. I usually don't go for french toasts but went for it this time. Glad I did! They have strawberries and pecans on it so it didn't seem like any typical french toast (ones I have had before anyway). The service was quick and very friendly. The menu is incredibly interesting, with all different types of food. We had the salmon piccata with mashed potatoes and veggies and it was delicious. All I can say is this place is the bomb I had the appetizer plate of a trio of tacos I had the chicken, shrimp, and short rib, my partner in crime, had the crab salad and a prickly pear Margarita. Wow. We stopped by here on a late rainy Saturday afternoon. We had read the reviews and were eager to find a new delicious diner. Well we have found it. Now the 5 stars are for our first visit and we had breakfast. We will be back to try the other menu items which covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ordered the huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. Really well prepared. Excellent and perfect seasoning. We used no extra salt, pepper or hot sauce. Both dishes were hot and darn near perfect in taste. We also ordered the Dutch Baby because how often do you see that on a menu? It's about a 15" wait and it is incredibly good. It must be baked in a cast iron pan because of the carmelization. Service was friendly, sweet and attentive. Place is bright and clean and the staff seem happy. Prices are very very good. I can highly recommend Brothers Cafe. read more

We saw this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try. It did not disappoint. First off the service was top notch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Now for the food. The short ribs and hash was so good. The tenderness of the the ribs with the perfectly cooked potatoes were a delight. My wife had the pancakes which light fluffy and delicious. We also tried the Dutch baby and it was sweet, sticky and the perfect dessert. Will definitely be coming back again. read more

Came in from Nevada and stopped to eat. Best decision of the trip so far. Service was excellent and the food exceptional. The chef not only cooked everything to perfection but the visual presentation was perfect. The prices were reasonable and worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and try it at least once, you won't be disappointed. I plan on going again on our way back to Nevada and will make it the place to eat whenever I'm within 50 miles of the café. I am still thinking about the food we ordered and can't wait to go back. I think it will probable be today before we continue on our trip...lol. Each time they ordered a country breakfast and biscuits and gravy etc. The visits were about a month apart. Both times the gravy was bland and the biscuit was bland as well as as hard as a rock. If you didn't have gravy on it. It was like trying to eat you through a brick made of flour and water. The presentation was also, a bit questionable. There were about four pieces of potato almost burnt on the plate. The bacon was extra crispy and I think the only thing was that was edible were the eggs. Perhaps they have a new chef or cook. We were a bit disappointed that despite mimosas being listed ion their menu they don't have their license yet. The menu has a really big variety of all the normal things but also things like crepes, borscht, and more. My husband opted for the veggie Fun Guy omelette and I got the French dip. The food was pretty good. The fries and potatoes were under seasoned. We also weren't super fond of the mushrooms and we love mushrooms! There was a variety of different types of mushrooms which was fine, but some weren't cut down and others were super thick which wasn't appealing. Easy fixes though for a newer place. If Jessica takes your order, you're good Last two visits, the young dude* who waited on me got it wrong in so many ways. His aloofness and near disinterest was off-putting. He didn't ask about my preference (for a dish I favor, but with substitutions) so I forgot to mention them. I couldn't see him, as he was leaning against the booth behind me! The dish was not how I wanted it (how it usually comes from the kitchen). To his credit, the manager (I think he is) made it things right, bringing me a few tortillas. Last visit, today: same waiter; this time he leaned against the counter behind me. I wasn't having it. I made my objections know to Jessica. Then I left *I wouldn't call him a waiter.
