All the way from America the Fitzpatrick Castle was a great stay!…read more I stayed at the castle for 3 nights and enjoyed all of them. The breakfast in the mornings was always plenty to eat. I used the gym and it was better than most hotel gyms back home! The best part of my stay was the unique feel that I would not get by staying in any regular hotel in Dublin! I tried the restaurant downstairs and the wings were some of the best I've ever had!

The interior remains unchanged--a time capsule of old-world luxury. Crystal chandeliers and centuries-old paintings adorn the many stairwells and lounges of the property. Everything here is impeccably maintained, especially considering its age. My guestroom comfortably slept four adults in four twin beds. (However, I would warn active sleepers against rolling onto the nightstand by accident.) The bathroom is roomy and offers a nice heated shower. Breakfast came included with my room and was quite delicious. I love the croissants, marmalade and tea available at 7:00am sharp every morning. (And my twin said the pancakes were delicious.) Parking presented the only difficulty of my stay. The parking lot is small; I pulled into the last space upon my arrival. I recommend taking public transportation when roaming around Dublin--or walking. Dublin is an extremely walkable city. In all, it felt special to stay at this extremely historic hotel. This place has character. I'm sad to be leaving Ireland, but my stay at the Castle Hotel was a fittingly marvelous conclusion to my trip.

Always welcome are the kettles for morning tea. The Vaults restaurant and the wonderful tea room are on property and offer both continental or full Irish brekkie. Loved the live music during evening meals, who doesn't love sipping a Bailey's on the rocks while listening to lovely Irish music? The hotel has undergone several retrofitting projects, and you can tell by the various levels just to get to your room. There's something nostalgic about that. And something to keep in mind if you must travel with more than one suitcase. The hotel was super accommodating to grant our wish to have a room near our traveling companions, suh-weet! Absolutely would stay here again, with a terrific location, wonderful staff, and a lovely hotel.

It was well-appointed with classic furnishings. The mixologists were at the top of their game. Our drinks rivaled what we've had at some of the best cocktail bars in NYC, London, Chicago, etc. The service we experienced was worldly as well. Coming here is a homage for any U2 fans because it was bought & renovated by Bono and The Edge back in '92. However, not long after our most recent visit it was sold to a hotel group. It's currently closed for expansion and remodel and I hope it maintains its historic charm and character and all things that are Ireland. Can't wait for our next trip back so we can check out the upgrades and book a few nights.

The Bathroom and Main room doors get stuck and don't close unless you slam them super hard which wakes up the entire hotel. 2. The hotel is loud, the hallways and streets in front near the river and back on the main thoroughfare are often days all days full of drunks lol. Irish people and tourists don't care. 3. Bars close at 1am! So early 4. Back door to the Main Street closes at 12am so you have to walk to the river side to knock on the main door for them to open anytime after 12am. Not safe if you split up with your crew. 5. Pay for the room with a stairstep and a little larger and better beds worth it 6. Room is modern. Flat TV on wall. Cozy twins beds. Gotta request them though and hopefully they have them. 7. Rooms are hot. They give you a fan and you can open windows but it is very loud. No AC not heater! 8. Hotel is super cute. 2 bars and 3 rooms to drink in. The restaurant is nice too. Also has an event venue on floor 1. 9. Super nice people! 10. D for is sexy trendy and modern upscale cute. Very creative vibes in lobby and bars. 11. No parking. Gotta park across the river. 12. Priced fair for location and what you get. 13. Close to everything! If you can walk a short or long ways you don't need an uber or taxi which is the same thing here. I'd come back 100%. Highly recommend this spot.

The Merrion Hotel is one of them…read more We spent three unforgettable nights here in late July, and from the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our stay was flawless. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between historic grandeur and contemporary luxury, delivering an experience that feels both elegant and genuinely welcoming. The staff were exceptional. Every interaction was warm, polished, and effortless, but Robert, the doorman, deserves special recognition. His professionalism, kindness, and sincere hospitality set the tone each time we entered or left the hotel. He embodies the remarkable standard of service that defines The Merrion. Breakfast each morning in the Garden Room was a highlight of our stay. Designed with a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the hotel's formal Georgian drawing rooms, it offers one of the finest breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. The buffet showcases exceptional Irish produce, including a wonderful selection of regional honeys, artisanal yogurts, and kefirs sourced from counties across Ireland. The freshly prepared Full Irish Breakfast was, without question, the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked and featuring outstanding local ingredients. The hotel's wellness facilities are equally impressive. The indoor swimming pool is one of the most beautiful hotel pools I've encountered, complemented by an excellent sauna, steam room, fitness center, and luxurious spa that provide a tranquil retreat after a day exploring Dublin. The Merrion's setting is spectacular. Occupying four meticulously restored Georgian townhouses alongside a contemporary Garden Wing, it combines architectural beauty with every modern comfort. Yet what truly distinguishes the property is its extraordinary art collection. Housing Ireland's largest private collection of 19th- and 20th-century Irish art, the hotel feels as much like a museum as it does a luxury hotel. Among my favorite pieces were Sean Scully's striking Vertical Stripes, Jack B. Yeats' magnificent The Hour of Sleep, Louis le Brocquy's haunting Woman in White, and works by Paul Henry, Roderic O'Conor, Mainie Jellett, and William Scott. In the courtyard garden, Rowan Gillespie's bronze sculpture of James Joyce provides a fitting tribute to one of Ireland's literary giants. Wandering the corridors and elegant reception rooms became an experience in itself. What impressed me most, however, was the service. The staff possess an extraordinary ability to anticipate guests' needs without ever being intrusive. Our room was impeccably maintained each day, with thoughtful evening turndown service, replenished water, perfectly arranged slippers, and countless small touches that elevated our stay. One moment particularly stood out. An elderly family member who uses a wheelchair came to visit us during our stay. The compassion, patience, and professionalism shown by every member of the staff made what could have been a challenging visit completely effortless. Their commitment to accessibility and genuine care was deeply appreciated and reflected the hotel's philosophy that true luxury lies in making every guest feel welcome. The Merrion is more than simply Dublin's premier luxury hotel--it is a destination in its own right. With world-class dining, outstanding wellness facilities, museum-quality art, impeccable accommodations, and service that consistently exceeds expectations, it represents Irish hospitality at its absolute finest. I would return without hesitation, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Lured in by photos of the Leisure centre I paid €100 (excluding breakfast!) for a midweek stay in their double room. First disappointment was the parking. The charge is €5 per night and we had to pay cash on the spot. Considering it is straight adjacent to the hotel it is safe to blame the hotel as I never had to pay for a hotel car park (or it was a budget hotel when it could be justified). Plus when I went to get something from my car in the middle of the night the car park was very dark and the little hut was closed down. It took me a while to find my car and it went totally unnoticed. The room was equipped very modestly and felt quite "worn". Without the heavy curtains there was a cold draft coming through the ancient-looking windows. The bed was clean but looked very old. Underneath the duvet was only a thin sheet and under that a very old mattress protector. That, although having no visible stains, looked like it has been originally white but turned light beige over the years and many washes. Even mattress wasn't exactly recent. To be fair, we had an OK night but definitely not a night worth €100. The bathroom had a very noisy fan and no hot water. All we could get was lukewarm/cold...even after we ran the tap for a few minutes (no water cuts that night, so no idea why couldn't they heat it up). And now to the leisure centre... First problem. It was publicly accessible so we got a bunch of local senior citizens coming in just around 10am and making any use of this facility (which was the original reason for us to stay here) quite unusable. The sauna could fit comfortably maybe 2-3 people. The place looked clean and obviously the only recent addition to this old crap. The only thing that was outstanding was the staff. Everyone was very helpful and nice. But one thing is for sure... I am never coming back as this overpriced nonsense was a waste of money.. AND THE FUNNIEST THING? Before we ran out of the lukewarm water in the bathroom it was enough to fog up the mirror and a very clear text has appeared on it....Saying: U R GOING TO DIE! I swear to God I am not making this up......so all I can say is: They didn't even shine the mirrors! ...can't really blame them for lying as we are all going to die..eventually.... Stay away...

The interior is beautifully designed with a modern, luxurious feel throughout the hotel. We especially enjoyed the hotel bar -- great drinks, lively yet refined atmosphere, and friendly service. It was a perfect place to relax in the evenings. Our only disappointment was around early check-in. We paid for an extra night so we could access our room early, but due to a flight delay, we ended up arriving around standard check-in time. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't offer any grace, credit, or goodwill gesture, which felt a bit rigid given the premium price point. Still, the stay was comfortable and the service was strong overall. We'd stay again for the location, design, and bar -- and hope for a bit more flexibility next time.
