We were blown away by how nice this place is! For reference, we stayed in a double room with en-suite. We arrived Wednesday afternoon after taking the train from Killarney to Dublin. We got a taxi to the bed and breakfast and walked in with four bags, two of which were massive. The manager got us checked in and offered a map, which we declined since we have everything planned out and we have maps saved on our phones. We were in room 18, nicknamed the Oscar Wilde room. It was on the third floor so we did have a bit of climbing to do (there is no lift in the building due to its age and how compact it is) but we didn't really mind it that much. If we had just come off a long overseas flight we might have been a bit more salty about it but we weren't so it's fine. When we walked in the room we were shocked by how nice it was. The wallpaper is gorgeous and the bathroom is stunning. The shower is incredibly nice and felt wonderful after a long day. The window we had opened up to other buildings so we didn't have a great view, but just being able to open the window for some fresh air was lovely. The bed is incredibly comfortable (and large!) and there is a bunch of storage along the wall so you can stow your luggage and jackets and shoes without any issue. We were here during a cold and rainy week so the room never got hot or stuffy. It was warm enough at night even after having the window open all day. The building has free WiFi, you just need to enter the password when you hit the login page. The password is taped to the back of the room door so it's easy to locate. The staff are all super friendly and help you out with whatever you need. It was pretty quiet at night even being in a louder part of Dublin, so the building has good insulation. We also hardly heard our neighbors thanks to the arrangement of the rooms - we only had one shared wall and it was bathroom to bathroom. The breakfast was great! I had the omelette and pancakes while we were here and they were both good. The banana with yogurt was also very tasty. The juice that they had was also good - I think it was a combination of orange and pineapple? Overall we really loved our stay here and we would definitely stay here again. It's close enough to walk to some attractions, and there is a hop-on hop-off stop that is close enough to walk to for others. There are groceries nearby and lots of food options to choose from. There are also laundry services nearby that you can either drop off your laundry at or have them pick up and deliver. That was crucial for us after arriving after already being on vacation for a week!

The stay was very enjoyable and there's parking for your car which we were very grateful for. There's breakfast included and it was delicious. The dining room was cute and the windows were large, creating a nice atmosphere. They also serve tea/coffee and treats in their waiting room for free as well. Overall, a really great experience. The hotel is a bit far from the center of Dublin, but the dart is only 2 mins down the street and very easy to take into town.

We definitely missed the anticipated view and the anticipated relaxing tub bath after a long day of travel. We like to play table games in the evening but without a table this was not possible. Also, no heating for the room, and no exhaust or window in the bathroom to vent steam after shower. We had to leave the window open for fresh air but this made the room too cold. Let me preface this by saying that I had an extremely early flight and I really just needed a room…read morefor a 24-hour period before I took another (extremely early) flight. There are a few choices for hotels near the airport, including a Radisson Blu that you can apparently walk to, but Holiday Inn has a better price point than most, provides a shuttle (currently limited because of covid--check with hotel for exact hours), and provides several amenities such as a Starbucks, same-day dry cleaning, and a 24-hour To Go cafe. I called the 800 number to make a reservation and told them I was an IHG member seeking a day use room. Unfortunately day use rooms are subject to availability and they didn't have any available, but the agent noted that I'd like an early check in on my reservation. My flight arrived at 5:40 am. The walk to the shuttle bus area was long and cold. I would strongly suggest contacting the hotel before you leave to find out where exactly to meet the bus. I winged it based on the info on their website (rookie mistake!) and I'm still not sure I was in the right area because the helpful bus driver saw me and asked if I needed the Holiday Inn Express. I was so thankful to actually receive an early check in! I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait until 3:00...probably pass out on the sofas in the lobby. The front desk people were efficient but very busy. The same story goes for the bar area and 24-hour cafe staff. This must have also been true for the cleaning staff as the floor in the bathroom needed a good scrubbing and there was a fine layer of dust on everything from the Kleenex box to the telephone. And for the first time I didn't care. All I cared about was getting over my jet lag! Food from the bar for dinner was okay for filling the tummy after a day of sightseeing. You are encouraged to go to your room after ordering and pick up your tray when they call you. Even though the hotel is fairly new, the rugs are showing signs of wear. Nothing felt super clean, but then again, I am a huge, OCD stickler about that. Service was great if not sometimes frazzled with how busy it could be. Front desk was helpful. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Food was average--not terrible and not Michelin (but I was pleasantly surprised by their brown bread and the Coronation Chicken sandwich!). Shuttle driver was stellar and explained everything we needed to know about the shuttle, meals, amenities, etc on the way over. Location just a few minutes from the airport is ideal for layovers. But in-room cleanliness didn't live up to their "Clean Promise." I would have given a solid three stars without an early check in. But I'm adding a star for being able to check in early!

The lights in the stairways flickered like a murder scene in a cheap horror movie, the room smelled horribly of mildew, and the curtains had many holes. Additionally the bathroom was in quite a state of disrepair with a leaking faucet, a handicap shower with a false floor that looked and smelled as if no one ever took it out to clean and a hole the size of a large grapefruit in the wall. The room was obviously designed for someone in a wheelchair. The mirrors, sink and shower head had me, a man of 6'7" on my knees while attempting to use them.

The room was clean and the beds weren't too bad. The bathroom had a shower/bath and some bar soap. The WiFi was free and worked good. You can get breakfast for a price, but there are so many food places nearby, there really is not need to have the hotel breakfast (try Flanagans on O'Connell). I would definitely stay here again, the location really is excellent and the price is right.

The hotel was clean. A snack area have an electric kettle with tea/instant coffee and cookies. The bathroom was a good size. It has a rain head shower that was amazing. The hotel is in the Liberties section, an up-and-coming area. It was about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the main area around Grafton Street and Temple bar. The Dublin express airport shuttle stops a few feet away from the hotel. I would definitely stay here again or also at another Maldron property.
