    House made jams at breakfast
    Tripp W.

Definitely a five star and worth more than what we paid! Upon arriving at 6 am we were offered coffee and free wifi in the living room until breakfast started at 7:30. They also ensured us that our room would be cleaned first upon check out of other guests! Back to breakfast - it was amazing. The butter tasted like ice cream, the homemade jams/marmalades were perfect complement to the fresh baked brown bread, and they knew how to cook farm fresh eggs to perfection! A "continental" buffet and full hot breakfast service set in a perfectly Irish sunroom was included in the value rate of the room! In terms of the room - it was huge (even by US standards). We had a spotless room that included multiple tv channels, queen sized bed, sitting area, expansive bath, and a wardrobe. It was a pleasure each afternoon to arrive back at Ariel House to fresh baked treats and tea in the living room. We walked everywhere, it was close enough for us. But if you prefer, the DART is less than 2 blocks from the front door right at Aviva Stadium! We felt as if the luck o' the Irish was on our side finding Ariel House and we look forward to returning!

Great location and excellent breakfast. We stayed at the Ariel House for 4 nights during our visit to Dublin. The location was great next to a Dart station but not in a crazy busy area. The room itself was a good size but it was not a modern hotel. It was more of an old charm type. The highlight of the hotel was definitely the breakfast. Service was great and breakfast was very good.

Very friendly staff, helpful and always smiling The breakfast was great Loved their poached eggs And the pancake was good And room was always clean The house is more than 100 years old, but I don't know how old is the hotel, I stayed there for a week Great stay Great staff The only thing I didn't like, the walls were thin I could hear what the people in the room above me are doing :-/

I cannot say enough good things about Ariel House. The best breakfast imaginable is served every morning at the ariel house. (make sure you choose the rate that has breakfast included, you won't regret it.) It was so beautiful and delicious and I miss it already. The hotel itself is quite beautiful and very close to the dart train line. Very easy to get to the heart of Dublin and a very quiet place to stay. Highly recommend!

    The "posh" Ariel House

Our family of four stayed in the "Oscar Wilde" room, #239. It was lovely, we really enjoyed it and the room was spacious enough for sure with huge windows that looked right out onto the garden. The service is amazing, the staff really is cheerful and wants to please, and the breakfast was the best bar none. This wasn't your usual continental breakfast like we get in the states, this was a full sit down, cloth napkins, anything you want, no charge breakfast. We stuffed ourselves each day and didn't need to eat again until dinner. The downsides, yes the carpets are a bit worn and the furniture looks like a mish mosh of things found at yard sales. For example, our headboard was for a bed bigger than the actual mattress so it stuck out on the sides, and the large framed mirror on a stand was broken and didn't stay upright, it kept swinging into a horizontal position so we would walk into it in the middle of the night. The water was warmish, and the hair dryer didn't work at all. But the tea and service made up for all of that. It is a bit out of the way from Dublin city centre and the sights - it took us 20+ to walk to catch the sightseeing hop-on hop-off bus, which wasn't bad on the way there but it was raining, wet, and we were exhausted on the way back. The taxi driver from the airport referred to it as a "posh" area, and I could definitely see that. We felt very safe. Be aware that there isn't much to eat in the area after 6. All the pubs close their kitchens by 4, and we finally ended up driving to Pembroke to find a fish and chips place open late. So eat before you come if you're arriving after lunch.

I have never stayed in Ariel House but I've been on three occasions for their wonderful afternoon tea. This is truly the best afternoon tea experience I've ever had. Many friends and family who have joined me or gone at other times, have come back with such high praise. The setting is beautiful in their pretty and bright dining room. We were served during my visits, beef sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, pavlova, coffee cake, melting moments, scones, individual banana breads, lemon drizzle, chocolate biscuit cake, chocolate dipped shortbread, chocolate covered strawberries and cherries...I could go on! It is an experience where you are truly spoiled and left feeling full and very happy. The price of the afternoon tea is comparatively very reasonable and the welcoming and friendly service is excellent. I can't wait to go again!

My partner and I stayed here for six nights. We had just spent a week in Killarney at an amazing…read morebed and breakfast and were hoping for another great experience here. We were blown away by how nice this place is! For reference, we stayed in a double room with en-suite. We arrived Wednesday afternoon after taking the train from Killarney to Dublin. We got a taxi to the bed and breakfast and walked in with four bags, two of which were massive. The manager got us checked in and offered a map, which we declined since we have everything planned out and we have maps saved on our phones. We were in room 18, nicknamed the Oscar Wilde room. It was on the third floor so we did have a bit of climbing to do (there is no lift in the building due to its age and how compact it is) but we didn't really mind it that much. If we had just come off a long overseas flight we might have been a bit more salty about it but we weren't so it's fine. When we walked in the room we were shocked by how nice it was. The wallpaper is gorgeous and the bathroom is stunning. The shower is incredibly nice and felt wonderful after a long day. The window we had opened up to other buildings so we didn't have a great view, but just being able to open the window for some fresh air was lovely. The bed is incredibly comfortable (and large!) and there is a bunch of storage along the wall so you can stow your luggage and jackets and shoes without any issue. We were here during a cold and rainy week so the room never got hot or stuffy. It was warm enough at night even after having the window open all day. The building has free WiFi, you just need to enter the password when you hit the login page. The password is taped to the back of the room door so it's easy to locate. The staff are all super friendly and help you out with whatever you need. It was pretty quiet at night even being in a louder part of Dublin, so the building has good insulation. We also hardly heard our neighbors thanks to the arrangement of the rooms - we only had one shared wall and it was bathroom to bathroom. The breakfast was great! I had the omelette and pancakes while we were here and they were both good. The banana with yogurt was also very tasty. The juice that they had was also good - I think it was a combination of orange and pineapple? Overall we really loved our stay here and we would definitely stay here again. It's close enough to walk to some attractions, and there is a hop-on hop-off stop that is close enough to walk to for others. There are groceries nearby and lots of food options to choose from. There are also laundry services nearby that you can either drop off your laundry at or have them pick up and deliver. That was crucial for us after arriving after already being on vacation for a week!

The bus stops outside the door, so if you don't mind a bus ride you should be fine. What makes this place great is the owners. It was sort of like staying with friends. The owner was always available with directions, recommendations. The owner also recommended the Hertz shop down the road (5 minute walk down circular) which was awesome way for us to leave and return to Dublin. When we returned "sure you can use my garage." Which was nice, the 16A bus might come to his doorstep, but it is a LONG bus ride (1hr30min) from the Airport. Breakfast was good. Our room had a bathroom (en suite as they say). Price was $40 Euro a person. The room was quiet, we were never disturbed! Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend it. As rick steve's might say 1/2 the price for 2x the cultural immersion. Too bad I didn't know yelp was in Dublin before I went (I would of found restaurants!)

It has been renovated / remodeled relatively recently. Although the front room could use a 'perk me up', the bedrooms were really nice! The rates are great and include a 'made to order' breakfast. My friends loved it and were grateful for the recommendation. The B&B is run by a husband and wife team. The husband is pretty talkative and volunteers recommendations freely. He immediately welcomed me into the space and offered a full tour. As for convenience, the bus stop is right outside the front door and is conveniently an hour or so from DUB airport. A walk to City Center is about 20 minutes and the canal is about five minutes. I recommend this spot for singles or couples. It's warm and welcoming and the rooms are really nice!
