Almost want to gate-keep this place, but I really don't think I could. This is the CUTEST cafe right on Queens Blvd. By day, is a great place to work, but by night it turns into the cutest wine bar. I needed a spot to work in the area and this was the first spot that came up on my Yelp search. Way to hit the nail on the head algorithms. This place is rustic and cute with a great amount of seating inside. What I didn't realize until I was leaving was that there is a whole courtyard in the back. On a nice day you can sit out there and use their free WiFi, which happened to be stable and strong. The staff were super sweet and friendly. It just felt so comfy cozy there. I got the most delicious turkey sandwich and cherry chai. It's cherry season so I thought I would give it a try. I'm so glad I did because it was so great and not to sweet with a great kick of chai spice. What I also saw was they switch over to dinner and booze at night. This would be such a cute date night spot especially on a nice night, where you can sit in the back, or even with some friends to catch up. I loved this spot and can't wait to go back! read more

Cafe by day, wine bar by night. Nice atmosphere. There's a full menu but just wanted a small bite/dessert so went for an affogato and Brookside's affogato (with coffee liquer) and these were ok. Got the Bistro Nachos and noticed no prosciutto. Had kettle chips, with cheese, olives and pepper so not much without the prosciutto or something. I had to ask and was later told it's because they ran out, so got the option for salami instead. I didn't appreciate that if I didn't ask, wouldn't have been told. Got meter parking on Queens Blvd- up to 10pm in this area so please check signs. read more

For Sunnyside, this is peak! I moved here recently and it seems like this is one of the few coffee shops where you can get decent coffee and a relaxing spot to hang out. The food is enjoyable abd filling. It's a calm laud back atmosphere. The decor is simple. They have a lovely outdoor area. It's small but quaint. Our waiter was fine. He was very chill. We had to ask for salt and pepper and serving utensils. He also didn't warn us about the peppers that came with the chicken. They were extremely spicy. The whipped ricotta was creamy with a light sweetness. It came with the slices of warm bread. The mac and cheese felt very homemade. It had good quality cheeses and lots of black pepper. I liked it especially when I heated it up the next day. The salad was refreshing. The chicken dish was juicy and cooked well. It was tasty. However the peppers around it were inedible to my sister and I due to their spice level. They looked beautiful though. read more

Came here after work for some chill vibes since I always wanted to visit and was surprised by Brookside's night time ambiance - I loved it. He devoured the potatoes (that garlic aioli deserves its own standing ovation), and I'm already dreaming about the rosemary whipped ricotta. The meatballs? Packed with flavor. The bucatini? One of the cutest cafes I have ever been to. Just look at all the holiday decorations! The cafe is so warm and cozy, and it's filled with local families and friends. It has the ambiance of a cafe where regulars go rather than just a pick up and go coffee shop, which is hard to find in NYC. The staff is also super nice and friendly. You can even see one of the baristas smiling in the back of my picture which I didn't even realize until after! Unfortunately I'm boring and I got a cold brew, but they have a lot of seasonal lattes that looked really good. Definitely worth a visit! read more

First time here, and I always pass by this spot as it's on queens blvd where I run my errands. They are having restaurant week, so I decided to try this place out as they're taking part in it. Came during dinner time and did the $35 deal. I decided to try the bread with whipped ricotta, honey, and rosemary. It was really good! For my main entree, I got the broccoli rabe & sausage. It was good, but I didn't really see a lot of sausages more of the broccoli rabe, so that's my complaint. (All you see is the broccoli, and it would've been better if it was called a lot of veggies and some protein on the side. Jk) I wasn't satisfied with the entree. For dessert, I chose the keylime pie, and it was alright. There is nothing amazing here that would make me want to go back. read more

I've been here for an iced coffee to go a few times, it's not bad. Customer service has always been fine. However, today I went in just after 4pm for a "to go" iced coffee. The door's not locked and there are three other people (customers) sitting at separate tables. Some fellow comes out and I say, "Hi, I'd like an iced coffee please." He says, "Oh, we're not serving dinner until five." I replied, "Okay...this prohibits you from serving me an iced coffee to go?" He says, "Yeah." So I left and I won't be going back. I get you may be switching out your menu for dinner and whatnot, but stating you can't serve me an iced coffee (the dispenser is half full behind him, the plastic cups are just below and I know there's ice) all because you're "not serving dinner until five" is a little ridiculous. You're a boutique restaurant on Queen's Boulevard, stop behaving like you're Jean-Georges or Daniel. read more

Wine Bar Review - I can't believe I've been sleeping on this spot! I finally went to try the wine bar this evening and couldn't believe I've been missing out on amazing food and wine. I'm not a big wine person but I do appreciate a good glass of wine, so this is more of a review on their food. This is the only place I know of in Sunnyside that serves oysters on a daily basis, so I was already sold. Then the grilled prawns came out and holy molyyyyy! The best grilled prawns I've had in a while! Really great flavor and wish they served it with some bread to sop up all the sauce. The meatball sliders were juicy and flavorful. I also appreciated the side of extra sauce. The beets, using an old family recipe, were delicious and I'm not even a beet person. The steak and fries were cooked to perfection, including meat temps and fry crispiness. While the prices are a little high though comparable to other casual dining spots nearby, the quality of the food, the flavor, wine options and ambiance were worth it. What a treat! I stumbled upon this lovely place; it reminds me a bit of a beach house ambience with a touch of jovial vibe. Super clean, by the way. I ordered the Wagyu Burger and, oh boy!!! It was delicious. I learned that this has been a coffee shop for a few years now and that they recently expanded to full dining services. I'm glad they did. Having a place where you can grab a coffee & bagel in the morning and return at night to wind down and eat delicious food with a glass of wine, cocktail, or an iced cold beer, is just what every neighborhood needs. The place is really cute, but everything is way over priced. We had gotten basically two bacon egg and cheeses. A medium ice coffee and an iced matcha. All of which came to $35, which is ridiculous for what it was... the iced matcha was good, but the coffee was terrible. The food was decent as well, although nothing special. The portion sizes were super small. For what we had gotten, it should have been less than half the price... I stopped in here last week for a quick coffee and pastry. The line was decently long for an early Sunday morning but moved quickly. I got an iced caramel latte and a plain croissant. I was a little worried since I didn't ask for an extra shot as lattes are super milky, but it definitely didn't need it. The drink was nice and strong and did not have a shortage of caramel. What really blew me away was the croissant! I think it really might be the best one I've had in my life so far. I read later that Brookside Market gets their pastries delivered from Balthazar Bakery, so although it's not their own product, I'm very glad that they still carry it. Usually will order a matcha (just iced water, nothing else) -- they've been slacking with the whisking part a little, but could just be because of business at certain times. The sandwiches and mini breadsticks with butter are good, too. Wine bar is peaceful; good selections. Even the cheapest glasses of red, white, and rosé/orange are good. I'll usually go with my partner and get the fresh bread with whipped ricotta to munch on. Once got the white cheese cubes and they tasted fantastic with the red I had. Wine bar food could be cheaper. Either lower the prices or increase the amount of food slightly. read more
