God, I am so torn here. I want to give the bagels a 5/5, a 10/10, and A+, etc. They are really fantastic. Perfect taste, fluffy on outside + crispy shell, cool types/flavors, great cream cheese, decent bacon/egg/cheese (albeit a little greasy). But for the LOVE OF GOD the worst service on planet earth. Makes it so maddeningly impossible to enjoy. If you order just a few bagels (plain, nothing on them) they write it down and stick it in a line of confused tickets (by the time they wrote it down they could just pull them and hand you a bag). Then each person needs to explain to the cashier what he/she had and this creates pandemonium levels of confusion, unnecessary conversation, and endless delay. And if you actually have them make something for you, just be prepared to wait then essentially have to re-order to actually get the food. UGH. read more

I use to work in Simsbury 20 years ago and always loved this bagel shop. Stopped by today after an early Dr appt and they are just as fabulous. I brought a baker's dozen and served them to the family when I got home. My son rated this is his top 3 bagel shops. Very impressive rating from this 10 year old! read more

Love Brookside Bagels. Their cheddar everything is my favorite bagel anywhere and the $5 breakfast special with two eggs, bacon or sausage, home fries, and a coffee can't be beat. They're always busy and manage to still serve you in a timely matter. If you haven't been I highly recommend trying them out. read more

Of course the bagels are fantastic, but the quality of service is sub par. I understand it's busy on a Sunday morning, but I at least expect my order to be correct. A poppy bagel not toasted with veggie cream cheese is not hard, especially when it's on the paper. But I get a bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. Just do the order correctly read more

This is a small tiny little place has the best bagels around. College and highschool kids work here so don't expect the most amazing service but they're friendly and quick. The breakfast sandwiches are perfect and this place is so inexpensive. You can't get better breakfast or bagels anywhere around. read more

Overhyped and overpriced. More like a greasy spoon of bagels than anything else. The bagels are average for a bagel shop, though they do have a wide variety. Get them with cream cheese and you need to scrape half of the cream cheese off to make it edible. The egg sandwiches are way too greasy, as in 'wash your hands after eating one because they are coated in grease' greasy. Waited over 20 minutes for an egg sandwich on a weekday morning, which is absurd given it should be a quick in-and-out item from a store known for them. Order set-up is inefficient in you place an order with one person and then have to repeat it to the person working the register right next to them. Iced coffee has an off taste, and one would think a 'Bagel Shop' would have good coffee. Prices are also high for quality of food. read more

While visiting Connecticut to see family I knew I had to find some great bagels while I was in the northeast. When asking around I heard about Brookside bagels. One morning my husband and I decided to go in and try some and as soon as we walked in the door we knew we found the right spot. The place was packed! You know you find somewhere with good food when you have to wait cause that not only means a ton of people enjoy it but the food is fresh!!! The smell alone made me hungry. My husband both got a bagel each which was to die for and totally worth the wait! The bagels were hot fresh and you could taste the quality with every bite. The staff was amazingly friendly and made us feel welcomed! All I can say is they were so good we brought some back home and everyone raved about them. Brookside will definitely be a regular stop for us every time we go back to Connecticut. read more

Wish they would rent out the old dunkin next to Antonio's to expand their capacity I often skip on weekends because they are soooo busy.

Brookside Bagels is nearly walking distance from where I live and it's a great little spot. Their breakfasts and lunches are always tastier than I expect and they sometimes have very nicely priced specials. The prices are decent (as one would expect) and I am always quite happy with the portion sizes. The staff was always been friendly when I'm there, as well. Whether grabbing a bagel and coffee on the go or sitting and enjoying a sandwich, Brookside is a place I would certainly recommend for a casual bite. read more

The best bagels in the valley, including West Hartford. The only thing preventing me from going full five stars on this is the their service structure is bizarre. They have no idea how to take an order and get it to you without making a mess of the situation. If want to phone in an order, that's a disaster too. I really think this is a very good bagel place. It is very popular and on weekends can get very busy especially for breakfast sandwiches. Bagels are always fresh and the cream cheese is tasty. A definite stop if you're looking for bagels in the Farmington River Valley area. The only potential downside is things are starting to get a bit pricey. read more

Stopped on my way to the airport. Ordered three bagels. Asked for one toasted with very little butter, one with cream cheese and one plain. Received one soaked in butter to a point it was dripping out of the bag and the bagel with cream cheese. Either the excess butter disolved the third bagel or they didnt include it in the bag. I like their bagels, but the instructions seem to be a waste of time as they are consistent in giving the bagels back with way too much butter. The missing bagel was for my dog...he is a little over weight, so it is probably a good thing they didnt give it to me. read more

I have visited Brookside twice since my 3/2019 review and an update is necessary. To begin with, the quality is still excellent and I have noticed the portions are more generous. On my last visit (sunday 7/28) I sat next to an older couple (and I'm in my mid-60's myself) the man was chatty and had a full plate of bagel, eggs, and homefries, he went on to say he lived in Enfield and didn't hesitate to frequent Brookside. Now what does that tell you. In any case, from the crew (Tiffany and Brenda) to the delicious bagels and cream cheese, and coffee. Brookside is certainly a step above the rest. On this very hot morning, it wasn't easy to find a seat and the place is pretty large indeed! read more

Great bagels. Can't go wrong with the egg and cheese sandwich on a toasted poppy bagel. Sometimes parking can be a squeeze but since they keep customers moving somewhat efficiently, it's usually not a problem. Extremely poor service. While the food is mediocre, the staff is very unhelpful. I would recommend not to get brookside delivered. They take too long and often mess up orders. Just called to order and the lady I spoke to on the phone displayed what was probably the most disrespectful service I have ever seen from a restaurant. They were extremely uncooperative and the lady on the phone gave me an unnecessary attitude for no reason. Because of this when she asked what I wanted to tip, I said one dollar to which she responded "Wow...one hole dollar, thanks" mocking me. The mockery was disgusting. We keep trying this place because of the reviews and recommendations, but no more! Cold coffee Bad iced coffee Super greasy, gross breakfast sandwiches Slow service (I get it--it's hard to make food to order at lunchtime. Maybe I shouldn't "take points off" for this) Every time I get a wrap they LOAD it with mayo...even when I ask them to keep it off. It actually turns my stomach how much mayo is in there. Blech.
