I have worn glasses and contacts for a very long time. In 2010 or 2011, I met someone who had lasik…read moresurgery and she was telling me it was the best decision she's ever made and her only regret is not doing it sooner. In 2021, I told my eye doctor I wanted lasik because wearing glasses and contacts just ain't it and I am tired. Lol. They recommended a place to me that they work with. I called them a couple of times, no call back. I did my own research and found some good reviews at Lasik eye institute. I got an appointment right away, went in for the consultation. Everyone was great, everything went fine. They explained everything in details to me. I was excited to do it but it took me a while to come up with a date because I was so nervous. I finally decided to do it last month and although I was still nervous, I knew it is the best decision. The staff, doctors, and surgeon makes everything easy and I wasn't as nervous. You meet with the surgeon before the surgery. He explains everything. The procedure was about 10-15 minutes long. I only felt pressure in my eyes. The surgeon talked to me throughout letting me know what was going on and assuring me that I was doing great. That was very comforting. Like I mentioned, so far my experience has been good but my only issue is that, it does take a while to get someone at the center to speak to. When you call you get the customer service people and they tell you they will put a note in so someone from this location can give you a call. It has been 3 times that I have waited 3 to 4 days before getting a call back. I went to see my eye doctor and I had some questions regarding my surgery and asked for someone to call me back but still haven't gotten a call back. This makes be nervous because you only get a postop visit the day after surgery and they tell you to call if there any issue. Overall, great experience. I should have done this sooner. I have recommended this place to a lot of people already. I am only giving them 4 stars because of the calling thing. But everything else was great.

He treated it w laser and has made the white floater now cover my vision at will. The laser did not correct the issues, I have to wait another month before he gets access to laser and can fix this issue. I told his nurse it is very difficult to see, especially drive w this white floater coming over my vision at will. They told me I hv to wait until he has access to laser!

When it was time for my appt, I didn't get the eye doc I requested -- got someone else instead. patel (not who I requested) rushed me through the exam. I filled the prescription ($600) and can't see at all through those glasses. I don't understand how my $10 off-the-shelf reading glasses work yet my $600 prescription glasses from VEI don't work AT ALL. My eyesight is so blurry with the VEI glasses, that I suspect patel made a mistake during the rushed exam... or wrote the RX incorrectly, or the glasses were built incorrectly. Nearly a year later, I decided to give VEI another chance. Again, I requested the same eye doc my wife had a good experience with. VEI didn't bother to call me back to make an appt. PROS: It's a nice facility It's conveniently located CONS: The eye doc I saw wasn't the eye doc I requested The eye doc I saw rushed me through the exam The $600 glasses I purchased as a result of the exam are unusable Lazy front desk staff When given a second chance, they blew it I made the mistake of trying VEI the first time without checking Yelp first. Had I checked Yelp, I would have seen all the 1-star and 2-star reviews and would gone elsewhere (and would have saved $600). Lesson learned: check Yelp first! I'm going elsewhere and telling my wife not to recommend or refer VEI to anyone.

Procedure performed on the wrong eye.I had my first LASIK procedure with Dr. Mark Whitten in 2005…read morefor vision correction. Naturally, about 15 years later, I needed another correction and returned to Dr. Whitten for a consultation. During that visit, he recommended monovision, given my age at the time (late 40s). He explained that this approach would allow me to balance both near- and far-sighted vision without needing reading glasses, which many people begin using in their 50s. However, after the procedure I immediately noticed difficulty seeing clearly. Over the following year, I continued to struggle with my vision--particularly problematic in my work as a professional photographer--and sought evaluations from multiple optometrists and ophthalmologists. I then discovered that the LASIK procedure had been performed on the wrong eye. When I returned to see Dr. Whitten, I learned that neither he nor his staff had ever determined my dominant eye prior to surgery. In fact, my old patient notes from 2020 confirm that no such test was performed. Despite this, no apology was offered for the mistake. During that visit, I was seen by John Rogers, a technician and former Senior Surgical Consultant at TLC Vision. His background includes attending Computer Tech of Pittsburgh, but he has no formal education or degree in optometry or ophthalmology. He suggested inappropriate options such as cataract surgery (for which I am not a candidate) and during the same visit Dr. Whitten suggested undergoing yet another LASIK procedure (a third) to correct the issue or resorting to contact lenses--the very reason I had LASIK in the first place. This experience left me with the strong impression that the practice prioritizes business and profit over genuine patient care and vision correction. I regret not doing more thorough research before returning for a second procedure, as I have since learned of multiple malpractice lawsuits filed against Dr. Whitten, including Jamie Domeier vs. Mark Whitten, David Cantalupo vs. Mark Whitten, and Liesl Nichols vs. Mark Whitten. I also couldn't help but notice the promotional posters displayed across his offices, highlighting his LASIK surgery on Tiger Woods in 1999 as a marketing tool to brand himself as a "celebrity" doctor. Unfortunately, beyond the image, his apparent lack of attention and care for patients has led to a troubling number of lawsuits.

My recent experience here was incredibly disappointing. I received Lasik surgery when I was an…read moreolder teenager (college age). At that time, my mom handled most of the paperwork/scheduling etc. The surgery went well, and 10 years later I started experienced some vision changes. I recalled that there was a "Lifetime Guarantee," so recently I followed up and requested a consultation for an enhancement. My mother recently passed away, and I haven't been able to find any paperwork for my procedure (which was 15 years ago). I called the office, and they were able to find my file. They asked me how long I'd been going to the eye doctor, and I said about 5 years (since I had a baby and my vision declined). I arrived at the consultation, and it went well. Friendly office staff, etc. I was excited to find out that I was eligible for an enhancement in both eyes. As I was about to leave the appointment, they sat me down with someone to "review paperwork," which is when she informed me that since I hadn't had a full vision evaluation annually since my surgery, I wasn't eligible for the "Lifetime Guarantee" and that I would be charged $3,000 for the enhancement. I asked why it was expected to go to vision appointments annually when you have perfect vision, and she said "company policy." I understand that they are legally in the right, and I'm sure I was informed of this as a teenager; however, I feel taken advantage of. It felt like an ethically ambiguous money-grabbing situation. The surgery went well and I'm sure Dr. Whitten is very skilled; however, the follow-up experience was poor. Be cautious.
