I chose a pair of Costas. They were very expensive, but I was excited to invest in a nice pair of sunglasses. After I was fitted for them, I went back several weeks later to pick them up. I had ordered progressive lenses so that I could read and see far away. The transition of closer to far away was not good, and I could not see to read at all with them. The tech was very nice and said that she would order a new pair and have the lenses adjusted. When I went back the second time, then I could see to read, but could not see far away. The tech became very frustrated and walked away when I told her that I still could not see. She sent a different tech over to help me who said they would refund me for my glasses. I told her that I didn't want to be refunded, I just wanted to be able to see clearly out of the glasses that I was paying so much money for. She escorted me to the front, and I asked her why she was not offering me other alternatives for glasses that might work better with progressive lenses. She was dismissive and told me that she could not help me. If there are certain styles of glasses that do not work with progressive lenses, I should've been told that up front. I also expected a much higher level of customer service to try and find a pair that would work for me. I felt blamed, dismissed, and disrespected. I will not be going back. I called a few days later to speak to the office manager to share my experience and no one returned my call.

The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and showed zero compassion toward patients. What made it worse was the blatant racism. Staff members were visibly unwelcoming toward Asian and Muslim patients, and I personally witnessed them mocking ethnic names -- laughing among themselves in a way that was humiliating and completely unprofessional. This is a medical office, not a place where patients should have to tolerate discrimination. On top of that, their appointment policy is absurd. If you are even five minutes late -- despite traffic, parking, or any other reasonable circumstance -- they will cancel your appointment on the spot and move on without any grace or understanding. No call, no warning, no flexibility whatsoever. This place is not a welcoming environment. The behavior of the staff is harassing, disrespectful, and frankly unacceptable for any business -- let alone a healthcare provider. I urge anyone from a diverse background to look elsewhere for eye care where you will actually be treated with dignity.

The staff was friendly and Dr. Aslop was awesome and very competent, but even after purchasing the $55 Groupon I was out $284 for a total of $339. It was supposed to include an eye exam and $125 toward a pair of frames. Okay, I can pay for the lenses. Those normally aren't too bad. I was charged $50/lense then $75 for anti-glare and another $25 for installation. I was given a $125 credit for a pair of $209 frames. That's where the $84 came from. My recommendation would be go to Sam's or Walmart then send your prescription to Warby Parker. You can get frames and lenses for $95 from Warby Parker which includes anti-reflective prescription lenses, anti-scratch, free shipping and 30-day return. You should be able to get an eye exam and stylish glasses for about $200. Lesson learned.

It's always very easy to schedule appointments and you can literally take a visit on a lunch break, as she is efficient and honors appointment times. So much respect for doctors and practices that try their best to stay on time and respect your time as well. All of the staff are friendly, they do a great job explaining what to expect, and it's no frills billing that you pay during your appointment time. Aside from my routine eye exams, Dr. Fripps has excellent chair side manner and holds space for you to address any questions or concerns you may have with your eyes. Then not only does she make recommendations, but also tries to give 2-3 recommendations in varying price points and locations (online vs retail) for whatever budget you may be hoping to stay within. This is one of those places you almost wish you visit more than once a year or so, but it's a welcoming practice and she remembers little details about you even though visits are infrequent. Eye doctors used to be that for me, but after my experience with Grove Eye Care, I feel much more confident and relaxed. I had my first visit back in 2023. I was looking to start wearing contacts and to get a new glasses prescription. Booking an appointment was easy. My first visit is a bit of a blur since it's been over a year, but I did have main takeaways. Whoever it was that guided me in how to put on contacts was the kindest and most encouraging person I've met. In my experience, a lot of eye doctor visits have involved inpatient people (I can understand because I would feel inpatient hearing the same six letters over and over again). I did not feel this way with my contact teacher. She was there to support me and made me feel welcome. I highly recommend getting contacts here. The contact experience involves getting the right prescription for you with a doctor, learning how to put them on, getting trials for a week, then returning to see if you'd like to order them. I have VSP which helped with the cost and have enjoyed the Bausch and Lomb Infuse 1-Day contacts. As for eye exams themselves, on an annual check-up this week, I did have a more impatient examiner, who didn't really explain all the machines to me which I didn't mind as much because I felt more confident, but had wished she told me when bright lights were flashing. They have a machine you can pay extra for so you don't need to get your eyes dilated which is nice. My first examiner in 2023 did explain everything. I think you just need to ask. My doctor is Dr. Schwartz. She helped me with my contact journey as well as treating headaches and dry eyes. She's very direct and to the point and can answer any questions you may have. I've enjoyed having her as my doctor. During my visit this week, I explored possibly purchasing new glasses/lenses at the shop section. It was a bit out of my price range, but do know you can get your prescription for free and if you need the distance of your eyes it's a $10 charge. If you're feeling uneasy about eye doctors, this is a great place to feel more confident and comfortable with them. The parking is easy here with a lot out front. It's near Carytown. And there is a gender neutral single stall for bathrooms. I highly recommend.

My eyes get blurry, I lose my balance because of my sight being awful and it has destroyed my quality of life as an artist. I feel lost, hopeless and wish i never allowed them to bully me into this surgery. I could see well enough before this. WISH I NEVER WENT TO THIS PLACE. Went back here recently and the thing I loved most about my first experience there is, sadly…read moreenough, no longer a defining feature of the Nina Cox experience. Specifically: Dr Cox has turned to the dark side, having become yet another commercialized ophthalmologist, pushing and pushing and pushing (oh my!) me to buy high tech (read: most expensive) lenses and frames from her office. I get it: it's a business. You gotta stay afloat somehow. And I know, I know: our whole healthcare system is a straight up mess, with more and more doctors turning into used-car-salesmen types. But what I loved about this office in the past was that my money was buying me a low-pressure medical experience where I felt at ease knowing that the only thing that my doctor prioritized was my health--not how much more she could squeeze out of my pocketbook. I hope that one day, her other patients who know what I'm talking about (ie, those who've had this same change in their patient experience as I have) will report that she's dropped the car salesman shtick and is back to being trustworthy ol' Dr Cox again. May that day come sooner rather than later.
