The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and showed zero compassion toward patients. What made it worse was the blatant racism. Staff members were visibly unwelcoming toward Asian and Muslim patients, and I personally witnessed them mocking ethnic names -- laughing among themselves in a way that was humiliating and completely unprofessional. This is a medical office, not a place where patients should have to tolerate discrimination. On top of that, their appointment policy is absurd. If you are even five minutes late -- despite traffic, parking, or any other reasonable circumstance -- they will cancel your appointment on the spot and move on without any grace or understanding. No call, no warning, no flexibility whatsoever. This place is not a welcoming environment. The behavior of the staff is harassing, disrespectful, and frankly unacceptable for any business -- let alone a healthcare provider. I urge anyone from a diverse background to look elsewhere for eye care where you will actually be treated with dignity.

It's always very easy to schedule appointments and you can literally take a visit on a lunch break, as she is efficient and honors appointment times. So much respect for doctors and practices that try their best to stay on time and respect your time as well. All of the staff are friendly, they do a great job explaining what to expect, and it's no frills billing that you pay during your appointment time. Aside from my routine eye exams, Dr. Fripps has excellent chair side manner and holds space for you to address any questions or concerns you may have with your eyes. Then not only does she make recommendations, but also tries to give 2-3 recommendations in varying price points and locations (online vs retail) for whatever budget you may be hoping to stay within. This is one of those places you almost wish you visit more than once a year or so, but it's a welcoming practice and she remembers little details about you even though visits are infrequent. I believe there were some Kate Spade, Gucci, and Banana Republic frames. I'm sure there's more but while I was looking those are the brands I noticed. I was told my glasses would be ready in a week. My appointment was on a Monday and they called me that Friday afternoon saying my glasses were ready for pickup. Also, they want you to pay half of your frame bill at the day of service and once you come back to pick up your glasses you pay the other half. I can't remember the females name that help me pick out my frames but she was friendly informative and very helpful. I definitely will be back in a year. If not sooner to get me another pair of frames so I can switch up. Great experience.

She gets you checked in and you wait in the "front parlor", for them to call you back. When I was taken back to the office, I was reminded why I love coming here. We are here to stay! The office is conveniently located near Willow Lawn, but they also have other locations in RVA. This space is clean, sleek and comfortable. The front desk assistants are always pleasant and helpful. Your eye exam at RVA Eye Care will be flawless. The assistant takes you into the pristine exam room and gives you a series of eye tests to aid Dr. Rainer in evaluating your vision. The technicians are thorough and well trained. I love the new glaucoma testing machine, I didn't feel a thing! The instruments are always sanitary being cleaned after each patient. Then Dr. Rainer, who is always so personable and professional, goes over all your results and explains your tests and charts in detail. You never feel rushed when he is reviewing your images, history and prescription. His expertise is superb and you will have peace of mind (and eye) when he's finished with your examination. Your eyeglass fitting will be efficient, relaxing, and precise. I sat with Rian, who was patient and extremely attentive as I made my choice. She even told me they painstakingly sanitized their entire collection of glasses during the Covid crisis. They wear the appropriate PPE and disinfect every pair of glasses (including tables and chairs) after the customers try them on! The selection is extensive, and they carry brands not found at those "chain" stores, so your fashion eyeglasses are will be unique. They are always willing to clean, tighten and adjust my eyeglasses and sunglasses with pleasure! And I have quite a collection! I returned to have both pair of glasses rechecked and adjusted many times to no avail. Finally I asked to be refunded, but instead they " pleaded" to let them remake one set of lenses, which they did. This week I noticed a crack in the right lense near the hinge area. I visited today to inquire about thei manufacturer's warranty. I was told if could happen if I wore them outside in the sunlight. That's completely unacceptable! I have been wearing corrective lenses for 50+ years and I've never heard that one before. I was told they wouldn't do anything for me. I suggest you try shopping somewhere else for your eye care products.
