Well this is the second visit that I've brought my wife too forgot to check in for the first consultation with Dr Witten. During the first visit he is very thorough in explaining how everything is done and if he thinks your a candidate for the procedure. Well the procedure took just over 22 min for both eyes longer for the right eye Dr W put in a different lens(they call it a rain drop don't know why it's not a drop it's a lens with your prescription in it) in this eye. She came home rested for a few hours eat dinner did her drops now back for some rest. She has to return tomorrow to have the contacts removed. I was able to watch ch the whole procedure being done they have a monitor hung up on the wall that is really to far away it needs to be moved closer to the door there is a small wall that the monitor will fit perfectly on for people to get a better view.

I have been a patient of Dr Whitten for many years. I first selected him to perform my Lasik based on his record of success. It didn't hurt that many famous sports celebrities and TV personalities also chose Dr Whitten. The process was efficient and mostly painless and the LASIK surgery was a success. Years later I came back for the Raindrop procedure to improve my reading vision. Again it was very successful and only required one later tweak to get me back to 20/20 vision. Dr Whitten obviously cares about his patients and likes his job. He also gives military discounts!

What's concerning is that this only happened after I specifically asked them to review my scans again. Had I not pushed for a second review, I genuinely worry they may have proceeded with surgery despite the risks. I also requested a direct explanation from the doctor and never received one. Instead, I had to repeatedly call the office just to get basic answers and speak with someone knowledgeable. My impression is that the process felt far more focused on moving patients through surgery than on patient safety and communication. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a procedure here to ask detailed questions, seek a second opinion, and carefully review whether they are truly a good candidate before moving forward. I also felt the recovery expectations were presented in a way that understated how difficult and lengthy recovery can actually be.

He lmk that a dry eye test isn't covered by ins (which is fine) and not to expect that I could do both in one visit (also fine). He then said, the appt will be 15 min tops, so it's not a time to ask questions. I said, of course I want to be able to ask a couple questions, espec bc of eye irritation lately. He said, "I see your insurance is (x) and that only pays us like $60 per visit. We can't give patients longer than 15, we'd go out of business" (!) I couldn't believe it. The rudeness and the gall of mentioning my coverage resulted in poor profit for them. I suggested he NOT say those things to new or returning patients and he said he was trying to manage expectations, that patients "always complain" they want to be seen longer but it's not doable. Talk about poor patient relations/ customer service. I realize what the medical system is up against w insurance is rough, but never has a public-facing clinic employee been so dissuading about the care their provider provides. I can't NOT recommend this place enough; take your business to an office that will value it.

Every staff member was sweet and I was confident that the surgery would go well. Unfortunately, there were a few red flags that I will list below. 1. The technicians there claimed that my prescription was stable when it wasn't and my vision quickly regressed after a year. Furthermore, I had prior dry eye disease and the technicians lied and stated that it wouldn't be an issue...now I have a severe case years out. 2. I didn't get to meet with my surgeon to discuss risk of complications, if I'm a true candidate or not etc. 3. The staff didn't explain other alternatives such as ICL and didn't give a solid recommendation on what path to take. If I was told to wait until my mid 20s I probably would've had a better outcome and less chance of regression. 4. TLC decided to change the location of the surgery from Tyson's Corner to Rockville last minute also modifying the laser as well which could have had an effect on my overall outcome. Suddenly, when I developed all these complications TLC offered little to no help in contrast to how I was assisted pre-op. I now have day-time starbursts, haloes and severe dry eye which induces irregular astigmatism...causing awful ghosting that can only be possibly fixed through scleral lenses or extensive dry eye treatment. I've had to quit many of my hobbies and it made my quality of life way worse for a while. They only offered "enhancement" surgeries to improve my vision which are not FDA approved and make complications worse for many patients. I'm still not comfortable with my vision at 23, a little over two years out and feel like I got scammed and betrayed by the center. They also didn't give me a refund as well despite my efforts to be polite and courteous about the situation. What makes the situation worse is that I had to go out of my way to see my original surgeon since he opened up his own company just to see what occurred. I was given pupil-shrinking drops and was shrugged off and told that everything was in my head, it was very disheartening. I've had to take so much initiative seeing all kinds of specialists just to get help, it's very draining for a young man to go through and I'm thoroughly disappointed with my experience here. I'll attach some photos below of my prescription before and after and various photos of symptoms that I suffer with to this day. This surgery has ruined my early 20s due to the complications that I face daily. I'm stuck with poor vision that does not hold a candle to how it was before surgery and I am stuck with fluctuating ghosting vision. The center asked that I provide a $200 payment to sign up for a "lifetime plan" to get a second surgery which is not FDA approved. They are a joke. The center only has one line of communication (patient care manager team) and have no ounce of empathy and compassion in their bodies whatsoever. If you develop complications and issues, expect to be on your own and not get any assistance at all from TLC. Whenever I would reach out for genuine help and the ability to obtain a refund or at least some compensation they couldn't do anything. It's hilarious because whenever I mention making a payment towards my surgery they are enthusiastic and respond quickly but other than that, crickets. Please do not get refractive surgery if it's not needed, my life is now ruined thanks to these people. I can't enjoy my hobbies 100% like I used to or start to drive. My vision is like this day in day out 24/7 to give you an idea - https://imgur.com/a/gZnTHj8 https://imgur.com/a/2swivr9 I'll be posting pictures below of how my vision was and my general interactions with both Dr. Holzman, his company and TLC.

They tell me a week prior that they called & someone confirmed the appointment time change. Mind you, I take care of all appointments & did not receive a phone call at all. So I ask the receptionist who she spoke with, she can't give me a name or anything. I ask to speak with the office manager, I tell the office manager my dilemma, she repeats saying they spoke with someone a week prior to confirm the appointment & reads back a phone number that isn't mine, a phone number that we haven't used in over 12 years & there's no way I ever wrote that phone number down for any of the new patient paperwork because that number was my father's that he got rid of like I said, over 12 years ago, so I have NO IDEA who they spoke to, to confirm my son's appointment because it wasn't me, his mother, nor his father. So now a STRANGER has my son's first & last name & the date & time of where he's going to be. The office manager keeps telling me that someone confirmed it, but couldn't tell me who. I'm standing there telling her that you spoke to a stranger about my son's personal information. All they could say was the appointment has been pushed back & I could keep it if I would like to. I don't care about the appointment, I care about the fact that this office has breached the safety of my child & his protected information. I asked the office manager for someone higher than her, she decides to give me the wrong number so I had to Google who oversees the facilities to call & make a complaint. I have escalated this issue as high as I could possibly take it. They need to fire everyone in that office because it's nothing, but the most incompetent people that don't understand HIPAA compliance. As someone who also works in healthcare, I'm disgusted with the way the office handled that situation. Luckily, I was able to get my children out of there & somewhere that actually cares about their safety. & what's even worse is that I have had so many people tell me like experiences. Awful, just awful.
