I called around looking for a eye care center that I could get an appointment today. I lost my glasses and I needed to drive out of state this week. Everyone that I called had the earliest date would be May. I called West End Eye Center and talked to Katie. I explained of my emergency and she was able to squeeze me in for an exam with Dr Reiner. Not only was Katie the best, everyone was just as friendly and Dr Reiner was the best. The exam was quick and I learned more about my vision then any other eye visit I've ever had. I appreciate good customer/patient service and it's hard to find in this time of being considered a number and not an individual. This experience proves that great customer experiences still exist. Service from the moment I walked in until I left was outstanding. However, when I called weeks before my appointment to inquire the cost of a contact lense eye exam, I was not quoted the correct price so I did not budget for the extra. I only wish they would have been detailed with telling me the cost prior to my visit. Other than that, I was pleased. read more

I had to make an emergency eye appointment today and this was my first time going to this eye doctor but everything was great! They were able to quickly get my insurance and schedule me an appointment! The receptionist was extremely friendly and the whole environment was inviting. After just a few minutes I met with Dr. Rainer and he was amazing he was so friendly had good conversation and was able to depict the problems with my eye in no time. He then gave me the appropriate prescription, gave me easy instructions, and insured that I don't hesitate to contact him if I experience any issues! Dr Rainer and his staff are professional, polite, patient, and all around great! I've been going to see Dr Rainer for almost 15 years and this week took my 9 year old for her first formal eye exam. I went to Dr. Rainer to get my eyesight checked. I felt like he genuinely cares for all of his patients. He answered all of my questions and I felt like his exam was very thorough. I didn't feel rushed at all. I was seen right at my appointment time after filling out some paperwork. The practice is very up to date using top of the line, cutting edge technology diagnostic tools. I took my mother to see Dr. Rainer for a check up and glasses- she lose them a lot. I found the place to be very clean and neat, the staff is very professional and generally nice. Being that my mom is in a wheelchair I thought there would be some issues- NOT ONE. Dr. Rainer took his time with her and even stress the fact she's diabetic and must stay on top of things. I appreciate how he spoke to her in a clear soothing tone, not fast talking and using fancy words & they never pushed us to buy zillion dollars glasses. I'm bringing her husband next week. read more

The opticians appeared to be interested in fitting me with a pair of glasses that I would like. They made recommendations and suggestions. I thought the frames/lenses were a bit expensive. My wife and I were visiting Richmond last month, and my brand-new prescription sunglasses broke (from the hinge that I had tightened too much prior to leaving for our trip). Having only worn glasses for about eight months, I was in a panic. We stopped into West End Eye Care (after trying a Lens Crafter-like object who were of no help) to attempt a frame fix. The ladies there not only fixed my glasses and sold me an emergency pair of clip-ons, but they were kind, generous, and patient with a visiting from out of town customer. They knew I would have no chance at return business, but they treated me like a long time, long term customer. RVA Eye Care (new name) is a 5-star business in my book. I've been wearing glasses for decades, but have never actually enjoyed an eye exam or making a huge purchase for glasses. But these folks are terrific. There is NO hard sell; the doc is as sociable as they come; the wait time was pretty much nil, and the admin staff is efficient and personable. Came out with two pairs of glasses and an exam for 300 bucks. And a smile on my face. An incredibly run outfit--all the way around. read more

I purchased an expensive pair of eyeglasses at West End Eye Care in 2011. In less than 2 years, the finish on the frames wore off exposing rough metal that scratched my face. I now have a fingernail size sore on my face. I believe the frames were defective. I did nothing to cause the coating on the metal to wear off. I have had metal glasses for decades and never did they cause injury to my skin. The manager at West End Eye said the 1 year warranty had expired and the only thing they could do was give me a standard 20% off new eyeglasses. I am very disappointed in their response and lack of customer service. I do not recommend West End Eye Care and I will not be giving them my business in the future. read more
