Milk Bar... it's a 3.5 star rating, I suppose. Ok, will round up…read more The best thing about it is they don't hassle you as bad at the door. They have multiple rooms to explore. The music is good, mostly. But you may need to hop around as it can change so much. So, wander around, you might get lost, but you'll find you way again! (or just ask! ha) Not as great, the drinks are SO weak. It's a little ridic. If I'm paying $15 or whatever for one shot and soda, please let me taste the alcohol? Like, come on! I can buy a bottle for that. Just let me taste it. Bartenders can be hit or miss. I've had some totally cool ones and some really strange ones that seem to have personality issues. Not as much lately, though, just overall in the times I've come here over a few years. Maybe the current bar manager (who introduces themselves as such when you walk in) has got it whipped more into shape. Can you just tell them to include booze in drinks?! Lol Entrance is in the back alley.

The edge is gone folks, but more so, the heart, the soul, and the authenticity of a real…read moreunderground scene. Now the life of the party is lost like a chicken McNugget dropped in the ball pit of a McDonald's play place. What's left is a random collection of half-baked ideas by management with no understanding of a music scene whose ever-changing themes seem copied from the websites of clubs in Europe, or maybe, Alabama, who knows? Go upstairs and things are worse with a Janky wanna-be suburban gangsta DJ playing pre-recorded mixes from songs that were obviously ripped from YouTube, and shooting monopoly money from toy guns like an anamatronic rat at Chick E. Cheezy's. Anything that was truly edgy and cool has now been thrown out and replaced by pure neglect, promos slapped together by some AI they didn't even bother buying a subscription to--you know, the basic version which is completely on brand--reduced to a desperate cash grab. This is apparent as soon as you step over puddles of urine and walk in the door, and through the fake metal detector (and oh yeah, then over sand bags and puddles from sewer pipes that overflow because the owner is too cheap to invest in repairs or ensure customer safety), finally into a building that is in disrepair. Yeah, it's a vibe from a backwater dancehall in Khazakhstan but unintentionally, not so much as a place of entertainment. Almost everything, and I mean everything in the venue is old, outdated, or broken, from the ATM (you'd be crazy to trust that anyway) and arcade games, to the club rooms with broken, non-working club lights, and again pipes that drip and leak (you'll literally see buckets on the middle of the dance floor, and garbage bags draped over the DJ booths and the bar--and no, they don't sanitize after these accidents, evveeeer. The place is in disrepair and what used to be rooms with cool decor are now just generic and dirty looking as basic cleanliness is non-existent--the whole venue reeks the moment you walk in. Most worrisome is the lack of security (good luck finding anyone if you need help after you get past the door person) making the disorganized chaos feel unsafe and gross and anything but exciting. While Milk was once a cool and celebrated part of the Denver club scene up until a few years before the pandemic, the owner has obviously lost touch with reality and has no sense of loyalty to a clientele and commujity who made his clubs successful. But this has been a long time coming as Milk has been on the slow and steady decline for years. Over the last year the place has spiraled into a complete free fall with the last regular DJs pushed out and replaced by amateurs like the dude who needs a platform to stand on whose sets sound like a complication of greatest hits CDs played on random, with no theme or identity. The events and nights seem thrown together at the last minute, like you know splattered against the wall to see what will stick, but it's stinking instead. Its consistency, its soul, its relevance is gone. Most damning and reflective is the point several other reviewers have made about the vibe of sexism that exudes like the toxic masculinity that produces it from those who run this place as it's almost all male managers, DJs and bartenders, with a few women in the lowest, menial positions. And that obvious bias and grossness speaks volumes! My humble advice: save your night, your money, your self-respect and conscience choosing instead to support venues and spaces that actually know something about loyalty and principles other than greed and pettiness, which actually cares about and respects its patrons and customers.

Initial Reaction: Mockingbird was ridiculously good. I enjoyed this amazingly with my wife and…read morefriends, whom we were visiting while in Denver. Our friend took us to this place, and it is clear this would be a regular spot for us if we lived here. You enter from the northeast end of the building, go through security, and pay your entry fee (which I think was $15 on a Friday night). We wound through the main dance hall that had some dark, artsy vibe before going through the T-shaped hallway that revealed some private group rooms with red lighting, before a large birdcage space appeared before us that you enter through the other bar area -- which I didn't realize until I made it to the other bar area to see the doorway. I thought there was a lock with a large key that I was missing. But I digress. The Negronis were on point, and I enjoyed them outside as the weather was fine and not freezing or hot. The service was fast, but it wasn't packed yet at 10 PM local time, so maybe give it an hour or two; then it may be a different story. There are two bar areas for the record, with the first one by the entrance where you arrived. The Mockingbird is definitely a lot of fun to enjoy.

The girls totally enjoyed the music and all aside from the Edgar creepers who try to no avail but then absorb the hint.. bumpings or a slight unintended push is a given in a packed place of young edgars..a fight was inevitable amongst all the broccoli haircut Edgar's as per usual in these settings. But other than that when girls say they're here for the music.. they're here for The 90's 2000's throwback mixes blended with reggaeton. Prolly return.. hopefully with less wannabe EDGARS everywhere

When I see one of my fav dj's is booked here, I cringe a lot but I'm loyal to my fav artists. Regardless of there being a specific headliner, something about the crowd brings such a whack vibe. The moment you get there you're treated like a criminal by the security at the door. I was questioned heavily about the lack of contents in my bag and the ticket I bought ahead of time. The bar has earplugs at least. You're going to want to watch your back the whole time you're here, especially your drink. This place is notorious for getting drugged. I've never bought drinks here bc that's the word of mouth. When I go with other femme presenting people, we get harassed. When I go with a man and he leaves my side, I become a target. If you go with a group it's a bit safer but it's still an on-edge experience. There are different rooms decorated very well, the sound bleeds and the speakers aren't the best for anything other than remixes.

Street parking and a cover fee at $15.00 for 1 hour dance lesson, a dress code requirement and an entry to dance the entire night! The people are alive and very friendly and super comfortable being okay with two left feet. These dance lessons have some wonderful dance instructors and they make the two left feet in me want to come out and find my rhythm. La Rumba is 21+ with a full bar with dance floor. The restrooms and dance hall are super clean-- they have a VIP dancing area! The lights, the music make me escape from the every day 9-5 day job! I love the fun, the rebellious dance lessons and sexy swaying in all of us! The best part is being yourself. This isn't like Dancing With The Stars!! Everyone is here to learn, from all different ages, backgrounds of dancing, no dancing at all-- you name it! Everyone is here with a purpose. The goal is to keep coming! Don't give up!

Listen, let me tell you what your *job* is: 1) to make sure lethal weapons don't make it inside 2) to make sure drugs *in distribution quantities* don't make it inside What the hell do you think I'm going to do with a cuticle trimmer? Go around and trim everyone's cuticles inside the club? Manicures for all? It sure ain't a lethal weapon, you fools. There are security people at the doors of some of these sad little clubs in Denver who literally think their lives are made worthwhile if they are intrusive with customers and make unfair demands on them, touch all their stuff like they own it, and then act like they can take it from you without even so much as ASKING PERMISSION OR CONSENT. Trust me, all that does is make you people look very small and extremely pathetic. You are NOT helping anyone in the slightest or creating any value, not to mention you are not doing your actual *job* by being this way. It's not what you're there for and it's sad you aren't properly trained. May you all be cursed with thick, painful cuticles.
