Great venue for music. Cervantes "The Other Side" is a smaller stage venue with a bar. The Ballroom side attracts trending artists and national touring groups. Recycable plastic bar cups are used for the conscious minded. Normally a pretty hip crowd. No food unless you go next door to "The Masterpiece Ballroom" side. Parking is street side or in the surrounding neighborhood. Located in 5 points on Welton street. My favorite local band "Float like a Buffalo" performs there often along with other must see artists. Last week I checked out the "other side" and it was so great! Even though it's a smaller venue it packs a big sound and lots of fun! Great lighting and sound and brings in some great people. I had a lot of fun here with my friend Heather and she showed me around the place and the little area in the back/ outside which I had never seen before. The people here were so cool too very friendly and helpful. I also love that they are great about free water and ear plugs and really taking care of their people here. Love this venue, perfect size for a good sized crowd but still feels intimate. The bar staff keeps the pace moving even at sold out shows. Price of shows is always super reasonable. Tip: Get on their mailing list for chance at discounted tickets. read more

The security line was quick and efficient. The staff were friendly. The ambiance of the show was fun, and I felt safe. People were pleasant and having a good time. I didn't order any food or drinks, so I can't speak to that, but the concert was great. No issues with sound, lighting, cleanliness, safety, or anything like that. read more

Cool music venue, good bar staff, small outside patio area for another band to play. They will reserve a seat for those needing accessibility accommodations if you contact them in advance. They've got a small area with bar stools & tables - they're first come if no one else has reserved them. It seems strange that the men's bathroom just has saloon doors on it and that there's a urinal right there as the doors are swinging...There is a little snack bar called Cosmic Snacks but we weren't super impressed. They were out of quite a few things we wanted. The crispy spring rolls I got were basically what I would've made out of my air fryer. I think it was just one guy back there doing all of it. Maybe don't come here hungry - just thirsty & ready to hear good music. read more

I bought tickets for a show that was promoted as having aerialists, acrobatics, etc. When we arrived it was a DJ playing while an art market was going on. An hour in and it was still just a DJ so we left. I know this is about a performance rather than the venue, but they're the ones who promoted it. The people were so absurdly rude, and physically pushed me to get past. The lady behind the ticket counter ignored me because she was watching Netflix! The food looks and tastes like it's 3 days old, absolutely disgusting. Everything was so terrible that I left the show before they started. Saw Oteil & Friends for both the Halloween 2024 nights this weekend. Fantastic shows, night two better in my opinion. The venue is solid. All GA with just a few first come, first served barstools in the balcony. Ticketing and security was easy and the staff were polite. There is a coat room that works for tips only and it was great. Bar was easily accessible and not too expensive. Sound quality was excellent in the GA floor but a little weak up in the balcony. This venue is typical for concerts like this so if you go you should expect it to be crowded and to get pretty warm once it's full. You'll need to be prepared to get to know your neighbor and to roll with it if you get bumped a bit. I don't recommend the balcony. Very hot up there and a lot of traffic moving back and forth. After many, many years in Denver, I went to Cervantes' for the first time on Friday night. A friend's son was playing. I bought VIP tickets, which turned out to be a good plan. The main floor is open, with no seating. The VIP balcony is cozy and has seats, plus a great view of the stage. And a very small bar. The check-in process was easy. I bought my ticket online, so just went to the "Will Call" desk to pick it up. All the employees I encountered, from the bouncer to the ticket person to the security guard who checked my purse, and the people who directed me to the VIP area, were friendly and pleasant. VIP tickets come with two drink tickets. The upstairs bartender was cheerful and efficient, but alas the "CBD Mule" was one of the weakest drinks that I have ever had :( I haven't been drinking because it's "bikini season diet time," plus BF dropped me off and would be picking me up, so I was looking forward to a mild buzz. That was not attainable, given the lack of tequila in the Mule. I went downstairs to use the ladies' room, and wandered over to the downstairs bar. Decided to try their Ranch Water special. Brie ("like the cheese") made an AWESOME drink that actually contained detectable tequila. Plus, it was yummy. This is an interesting and unique space. It's basically a concert hall, where people on the main floor stand, dance, and sing along. It's a mostly young crowd, but there were people of all ages and manner of dress. My friend told me it was a flannel-shirt kind of place. I don't own any flannel shirts, so went with something else. She wore a sparkly top. There were women in sequins, crop tops, a gold spandex jumpsuit, and lace. Men wore mostly flannel shirts or tee shirts. The sound was wonderful. Not too loud, so that you couldn't talk, but loud enough to get people dancing. The lights were also really well done. The VIP tickets were fairly expensive, so it might be better to buy them at the door if possible and avoid the service charge. But I think the number of tickets is limited, because the space is small. read more

I really, deeply disliked this place. The parking in Five Points is atrocious. The second you get off Welton to park, you need armed security. There were men begging for money, using IV drugs and sleeping on the sidewalks. This venue allows the homeless to stand right at the front doors and work the line of people for money. It's extremely uncomfortable. I would deeply recommend unaccompanied women not make the trek to this establishment. The security was spotty with a metal detector that picked up nothing I was carrying. Then, when you get inside, you're trapped. Even with the wrist band they give you, you can't leave and come back in. I absolutely despise "no re-entry" policies. Stay safe and avoid this place. The band, Direville, was fantastic though. read more

BEWARE! I came here with my sister to see Sublime in July and had not been to this venue before. Upon arriving on a 100 degree day, I realized the temperature wasn't much better in there. The LARGE crowd and the multiple types of smoke inside the venue didn't help the air quality much either. I personally witnessed 3 people pass out inside due to the poor conditions. I was unfortunately another "casualty" before the main act even started having 2 drinks in the hour and a half I was there. I passed out at the bar as I was trying to get water and next thing I knew I was being escorted outside by someone on staff. He sat me next to another patron who had just passed out and told me I was #7 of the night ALREADY. The staff member did ask if I was ok and gave me water and ice for my head, which was bleeding from me passing out. I also ended up with a ginormous bruise on my arm, which I'm guessing is from me sliding down the bar as I passed out. I was then told the venue has a new "policy" surrounding people passing out, which is you are NOT allowed back in the venue because you would be a "liability." I was told they used to let people back in and they would pass out again and it became a "problem." IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE A POLICY SURROUNDING PEOPLE PASSING OUT BECAUSE IT'S SO HOT AND SMOKY, THAT'S A VENUE PROBLEM. Also, since it's such a problem, wouldn't having medical on staff probably be a reasonable idea? My sister who I was with, thought I was at the bar, as I told her I was getting water because I was starting to feel really hot. I attempted to text her letting her know I was outside and not allowed back in, but there was no reception and my messages weren't going through. I asked the staff member if he could at least "escort" me in to find her letting her know what happened and that I was not able to stay for the concert and I was told, "NO." So I, a female bleeding from her head who had just passed out was left alone outside the venue with no way of contacting my sister. I am lucky in the sense that I was sober and somewhat coherent after my fall that I didn't wander around lost or get picked up by some weirdo. I went to the box office to ask if I could at least get a refund and was told to "Call back on Monday." This place is an embarrassment that in run poorly and has absolutely no consideration for their patrons well being and safety. Reading other reviews the temperature, smoke and over capacity isn't anything new. I am contacting Denver health and making sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. What a fantastic venue! During these times of Live Nation owning everything and ruining the live music scene, I am glad that there are venues like Cervantes. I can't really think of any negative things to write about regarding this venue. The sound system was great. The drinks were surprisingly affordable. Bathrooms were as clean as you can expect from a music venue. The venue is pretty spacious. They have a lot of less known artists play. What else can you ask for? read more

I came here to watch Lawrence one night with my partner. During the day, it can be difficult to find parking in Curtis Park, but it seemed pretty empty as we walked around. Fortunately we were nearby and *could* just walk. Small venue with a dingy dive bar feel. Didn't seem particularly organized or clean, but all the staff members we encountered were friendly. Easy to roam around the venue with ease. My partner and I ended up standing next to the restrooms because there was space. The rest of the floor was packed, and we couldn't secure a good vantage point from the balcony. Didn't grab a drink at the bar, so I can't speak to that. Overall it's an okay venue I'm not excited about but would come back just for a band I like! read more

Hands down one of the best independently owned and operated live entertainment venues in the country in my opinion! For the last 13 years I've always felt welcomed and safe at this establishment. The staff turnover is very low, which means you're always met with a lot of the same awesome staff they've employed over the years. The drink prices have always been super fair. I've seen many iconic artists and shows at this venue from morning radio shows to intimate acoustic sessions to silent discos. Cervantes does a damn good job of curating a well rounded schedule of genres and artists that will definitely get you to come back. I feel safe here, I feel respected here and most of all I feel valued as a patron. read more

This was pleasant. It's a small music venue for small musicians trying to make a name for themselves. Security and IDing in the front is standard, and the stage is very small, but with lots of space and distance from one another. The corners are filled with local artists sharing their art and handing out business cards. There is rhythmic dancing in the back and a totally separate stage in the back, which was nice. I actually see myself returning again, because I do support local artists and this was it. Parking was actually doable and reasonable, as it's in the neighborhood. I made lots of friends and spoke to many kinds of artists and different people to my taste. Definitely an urban taste in music and if you're open minded on different genres and artists, I think it can leave you a positive experience. read more

Last Saturday was my first visit to this venue to see Keller Williams. The venue was FREEZING cold. The sound was good and service was good. The floor is tricky. There is short, poorly marked (faded white stripe painted) from the main floor to the bathrooms. Probably 2" or less. Almost impossible to see in the dark and crowded with people unless you look straight down while walking. There are no signs telling you to watch your step. I rolled my ankle on it because I didn't see it and ended up with an ankle fracture. And, no, I was not intoxicated. Freak displacement of a step on a poorly marked step/ uneven surface. The place is OK, but not sure I'd go back unless they improved the safely of that step area. It's very dangerous. read more

Best venue in Denver hands down. Sure the neighborhood looks a bit grimmey, but it is safe to street park and there's always people walking around the area. It's a room meant for 1000+ people shows so if it's sold out it might feel a bit crammed towards the front...But that's your choice to go up there in the first place.... I like the masterpiece a bit better than the other side but both have great decorations and provides more value than any other venue I've been to. read more

Went for a show during COVID and it was just what we needed! The venue was well spaced out, drink service at the table, and amazing sound throughout the venue. I haven't been to a normal show here but I definitely approve of how they are handling the times! Will definitely come back. read more

Cervantes is great. Nice people willing to help. Concerned about their patrons having a excellent experience. I have, out of dozens of shows here, never had a bad one. The box office is always willing to help you if youre having ticketing issues. Bartenders a nice. Security is concerned with safety and wants to see people having fun, and not power hungry d bags. Show up and pay $20 instead of going to the bars. Great music and fairly priced drinks make it worth it. Anyone giving this place a bad review is a fluke or uptight. came here for a show on the "other side" this week and the venue admitted to not having the AC on AT ALL. show was sold out and people were packed in for hours sweating in super close quarters. i witnessed several people pass out. i even felt sick after being there. So bad that the bar was giving out bottles of water for free because the environment was nearly intolerable. Another amazing night at COS. That Damn Sasquatch: pickin on Talking Heads, and Katharsis w/ Marcus,Todd, Chuck, and Dave Watts, one word: Unfingbelievable!! And Dave played entire set with Sasquatch too!! He was the backbone of the evening. One of the best shows of the summer - and I've seen an awful lot. And Pass The Peas, the venue food window continues to impress. The tacos were exceptional!! Never had a bad meal from them yet... Nice folks, and great food. Thanks! read more

Was here for a concert on a friday - the best thing about this location was the positive graffiti in the bathroom, love it. Otherwise they allow quite a bit of smoking in here and we had to take turns going outside to breath. Couldnt actually see the stage very well from the sound booth because it was straight up just smoke clouds. We're in no-way prudes but dddaaannngggggg. They didnt have the bartenders staffed well enough - so we ended up getting 2 or 3 drinks at a time because we'd be in line forever waiting on another. read more

Badass joint! I had high expectations and they were met. This place has everything a live music venue should, except for functioning ATMs. There was helpful friendly staff everywhere, there is a gigantic disco ball that makes the scene ethereal (see pics), a kitchen on the 'other side', tables and seats in back of the other side, a balcony for those who want to change their perspective, and some amazing local crafts. You could fart in there all night an no one would be the wiser as others were adding to the aroma with herbal essence and incense. The box office even gave us some incense to burn inside the venue when we picked up our tickets! The girl's bathroom was excellent, fun weird art, and clean enough that I didn't feel too bad about our friend who spent the night in the stall hovering around the toilet. Plus, I am a sucker for a checkerboard floor! I can't believe how good the acoustics are in each space, no noise spilled between sides. The ballroom had a large bar where we got great service until it got crazy crowded. $4 for a PBR tallboy is decent concert fare. But charging for water is lame. I was easily able to glide right up to the stage and back. Plus the people watching was great! I love how the space is divided and you could easily go outside, back and forth and up to the balcony for a great view since the tickets were a twofer - what a deal! I had friends who wanted to sit, some who wanted to dance, some who smoked and all were accommodated nicely. They even had the Broncos game on! Catching a cab from there was a challenge, but the secret is to just jump right in front of traffic or wear a super short skirt. I can't wait for my next experience there! read more

Went to this place early April of 2021...........still covid. We had a table top for 4 with about a 15'x15' square. There were only about 120 people in the sold out place. You texted your drink order and they were at your table in less than 5 mins EVERY TIME and reasonably priced. Staff was awesome, polite and helpful. Seeing the Rocky Mtn Grateful Dead reunion was priceless. The BEST $125 ticket i've ever bought. Hope they good more DEAD music going there soon.............................(p.s.
