People who are easily triggered by rape scenes should absolutely tread this bar with caution. I had high hopes for Slashers. It was previously a horror-themed bar by a different name that was since shut down. A new owner bought it and renamed it Slashers and has fixed it up. When first entering, it has a dive bar kind of feeling. The tables all had horror icons on them, the drink menu was themed after different horror movies, and the tvs around were playing obscure horror movies that aren't necessarily considered "slashers". I was very pleased with the first room. Heading towards the back right of the bar is a hallway leading into what used to be an old barber shop. That is where this bar lost me. Along the walls were some cool art and an impressive collection of horror posters. Lined up in front of the walls were 3 black leather couches and 3 TVs. The room was empty when I entered and I had wondered why until I sat down and actually watched the movies playing above. 1987 Wicked City was playing on 2 screens (very graphic depiction of tentacle porn) and right in the middle screen was 1972 Last House on the Left (very graphic depiction of an endless night of rape). There were no warning signs about the explicit content in that back room, and the black leather couches, red lights, and doom-techno music added to all of the unsettling vibes of that back area. It was a very strange setup considering that the bar had been previously shut down due to the previous owner's unwelcome advances towards women. I left the bar feeling sick to my stomach (unfortunately not from the alcohol) and am not sure if I want to go back. Perhaps if the movies are different and more on the popular 80s slasher side of things like the name intends, it would be worth retrying. Or maybe even just some simple warning signs about the content of the films in that back room. The staff was kind and the front area was great! It just still had a horrific piece of history lingering in the back.

They got that spooky shit for all you libras! Horror films playing in the background, vampire drinks, and possibly a sacrifice all in one place. Pretty cool

Searched Metal Bars on a trip from Seattle, and loved this place and the bartender made the day with rad cocktails based on what we were feeling! Delicious!! And bad ass location in Denver!

Nice bar with with eclectic Halloween decor..

Vanessa and I were looking for a place to spend our Halloween night. They have a horror movie played every night. We had some really good cocktails, off the menu. Thanks to Don for customizing our drinks. We had a good time

Was excited because of the theme of the bar being horror but it was okay. The drinks were not good at all and too overpriced.

He loved the Mozart, along with its bartenders and friendly crowds. Mozart's feels like home. The bartenders are friendly and quick, the owners (or one of them) are usually around to shoot the **** with, and the drinks are cheap. Their "specialty" is a pickle shot (in the giant glass jug behind the bar) and if you throw in a few beers, your tab will be $10, and that includes a nice tip. Is the bar fancy? No. But that's part of the appeal. Go in on a weeknight evening and you're bound to walk in during darts league. Don't count on getting a seat or a table if darts is happening. And these guys are good! The crowd is friendly and you can sit at the bar alone without feeling creepy. Winners all around.

The bartender that night was absolutely great. The karaoke DJ (Sexy Jesus Karaoke) was friendly and fair, keeping repeat singers in the queue while adding in new singers as they arrived. Our group had a fantastic time and got to sing several times. The crowd was eclectic, supportive, and full of good singers. The one thing none of our group appreciated was that the front windows were wide open and people smoked outside the entire night. They literally had ashtrays on the windowsill. We all reeked of smoke by the end of the night. Kind of a bummer, and something to consider if you're thinking of going here when it's warm enough to have the windows open.

I grew up in this neighborhood and Christian took the reigns and turned it into a place that you can call "my bar." This is what happens when a dive bar hooks up with a neighborhood bar and has a kid that makes it a habit of being insolent. Bonus - it's a Philly Bar. Another bonus - the merch is HILARIOUS. Third bonus - there's a neon sign telling you to not do coke in the bathroom. Fourth bonus - Karaoke Fridays. Fifth bonus: Live and loud music on the patio when the weather is nice. I was sitting in the back corner of the room, the booth behind me had just vacated and the dishes had not yet been cleared. 2 women approached and I heard one wonder out loud to the other if they could sit there. I turned and let them know that the people had just left, so if they just scooted the dishes to the edge, I'm sure it was fine to sit. (and this was when I gestured in a "scoot the dishes forward" movement) At this time, a man (Brian, we now know) walked up and used the edge of his hand and smacked my arm down in a chopping motion. My partner notified the "door dude" and he immediately asked Brian to leave. Brain commented over his shoulder "oh, sorry if I offended you" to which I replied " you didn't offend me, you hit me" He then stood outside flipping off the place for a while before leaving. I appreciated the immediate action of the staff when I was intentionally hit by a man in their establishment.

A few moments later the door dude came to our table and told me to leave. I asked why. He said I laid hands on the woman. I asked if he wanted to hear my side of the story. He said no. We left and we left our drinks. Weird redneck good ol boy vibes. Avoid this toxic place. Go somewhere else. So many welcoming and inclusive bars on East Colfax. Gesture lady clearly the regular as I think back. As we left, a guy at her table waved "bye bye" and laughed with gesture lady. That's all I have to say about that. The Owl Saloon....hmmmmm? Colfax doesn't have the scenery of Ned, but it's a lot closer to home. Welcome to the neighborhood! My first visit will definitely not be the last. Marketed as a take on dive bars, this place feels much more open and well-lit than expected. Front windows have a full view of the action on Colfax, keeping it bright. The bar area offers plenty of seating on stools or at tables. Head back to find more seating, a few arcade games, and some pinball. Head outside for the patio, billiards room, and exit to the free parking, a major plus on Colfax even before the city decimates it. The vibe is comfortable and chill. Service was friendly and helpful. The tap list included several delicious IPAs, two lagers, a porter, and you know I would like to have some Thick Strawberry Goo. Knotted Root has always had good musical taste and they have decorated with some hilarious and interesting wall art/photos. Of course, new spots have kinks to work out. The TMNT pinball game says it's a quarter, but really costs a dollar. The other one just ate my quarter and didn't work. The staff kindly messaged someone off-site to find the wifi password, but then it wouldn't connect. None of this killed my buzz. Good times.
