She was so kind and explained the break down so well in helping me get set up as a beginner even knowing I was going to buy up in Seattle she was just genuine and kind in assisting me as I accessorized and learning the world of archery. Their prices were really good for the Easton bag I purchased. I was at archery world a few days prior and the prices were higher customer service was like night and day! Jennifer assisted me in measuring my draw weight and gave me some solid recommendations for my size (I'm 4'10 so not a usual size for most people). A good place to have your bow fitted. I went in there to have my very first bow set up for me and to get some arrows. Jared is a competent bow tech, and was quite helpful with all my questions. You can really tell these guys spend a lot of time in this shop, the vibe that it's like their second home is quite eminent. I've read some of the other Yelp reviews and the complaints about them not always noticing when a customer needs attention are indeed true. While I was having my bow worked on in their shop today I noticed two instances a customer standing like a wallflower or a deer in the headlights. I have a simple solution for this: Speak up. It's not hard to say "Whenever you have a minute I'd like some assistance" It's really no different then the experience I get from a Home Depot. I'd much rather be in a store where I have to assert my need acknowledgement then the places where I have three employees fighting like dogs over a bone to be the one to pester me endlessly. "No pressure, take your time" every 15 seconds like that scene in Aggretsuko parodying Gap stores. None of that here. read more

Really cool shop. Huge selection for Compound Bows and archery accessories. Everything from hats to targets. Not so much for Re curve Bows. They even have an indoor range. Having said all that. The customer service sucks! I walked around the store looking very interested in a purchase. There were two guys talking about a past adventure while i walked around. Come to find out, one was an employee (a lazy one at the least). I walked over and watched people on the range twice before even asked by a second employee if i needed any help. At that point, I had already decided to check out some other places. I guess $180.00 sale was less important than talking while on the clock. I would have been an easy sell but noooo. read more

This is a fun little shop located on the outer south side of downtown Milwaukie, in the same building as the post office. The store is surprisingly bigger than you would expect, walking though the doors you see how deep the building is. One side is all inventory, and they have a ton of it! The selection of various bows and accessories as pretty broad at this location. Children's bows, adult bows, compound bows and more, you cannot go wrong shopping here. The other side of the building is a shooting range and a little shop where they will work on your equipment or cut you some arrows. The Range is fantastic, wide and deep allowing multiple people of varying skill to shoot at the same time. The staff has always been helpful every time I have been into the store. I have yet to buy a bow - but have been in with my brother several times and he has purchased a few. For me, you cannot do better than these guys. read more

Seeing as all the reviews before this one are years old, you can ignore everything older than this. As of 8/2021, the knowledge base of the personnel here is wonderful. Chuck, Dana, Memo, and Jared have been patient, understanding and sooo helpful as I have reintroduced to archery. I went all the time as a kid back in Utah. During COVID, I got so bored at home, as we all did, so I figured I could break out my mom's left handed bow and tune it up. Mom's old Browning is a dinosaur, but it still works great and the guys have helped me update the accessories and hone my skills. Mom will be pleased when she gets her compound back, and in the meantime I've been practicing both left and right handed archery with a horse bow that Memo helped me choose (I'm ambidextrous), as well as my partner's new recurve that Dana pointed out as a great starting place. $7-$40/person, depending on what you're doing on the range. Sales begin at around $120, but go up to $1300 for high-end/ experienced hunter items. read more

This review is only reflecting the limited traditional archery inventory. It's a small corner in the back of the shop. They had probably 4 different brands and only a hand full of options. Better than minimum in the selection of finger taps and gloves. Decent amount of hip quivers. 2 back quivers, one a furry camo. Two long bows, one for kids and one for adults. I don't count fiberglass bows...sorry not sorry. The staff seemed nice. I didn't get to talk with them, they said hi and asked if I needed help. I was just browsing, seeing what they had. If you re wanting to learn compound/hunting style archery. This is your place. If you want traditional/Olympic style, not so much. They may be able to order what ever you ask for, but they don't have much in stock. read more

Was there 5/27/22 afternoon. Not a big shop but had a lot of bows and accessories and everything. Mostly just a shop it seems, range is not set up for enough people to do much other than try out something you're looking at or test your own after service or something. But the guy working there was a huge unhelpful jerk. Maybe understaffed, but he wasn't like overwhelmed and just busy, he was proactively rude and unhelpful. Sorry, but no way would I go back there to shop. read more

Address should read Milwaukie. I hate this place. Ordered my bow here and they gave me lame excuses as to why it was taking 3months longer than expected. I don't know much about bows yet and they seem to be respondent to this in a negative way. Instead of giving me good information they do as little for me as possible since I don't know the difference. I picked up a long bow string and they didn't even offer to put a nock on it. I suppose I could go back and complain(like I usually do) but I'm so sick of the people I deal with here that I'd rather not bother. read more

A great selection with an area for practice....however they lack in customer service. Well not just lack...they don't have any service. None the less being 6 months preggo and moved out of the way by an employee. If the boyfriend actually takes up archery its a good place for selection but I don't recommend spending money on a place with no ability to help you while you wander for 30+ minutes. read more

I am a novice traditional archer. When I needed a few accessories and had a bunch of archery questions, the young fellow at the counter immediately had another more experienced staffer with a traditional archery background assist me. I then received quite a few helpful tips and found what I needed by way of traditional accessories. Throughout, I was treated with respect and courtesy. (Seems like they got the message re customer service from the earlier Yelp reviews). I plan to return to shop and to try out their well-lit archery range. Although like most local archery shops, it is bow-hunting-oriented, nonetheless it is one of the better local options for those interested in traditional archery equipment. Over many years of occasionally visiting this establishment, I have only ever had poor experiences here. When I go into their shop, I feel like I am mostly ignored or dismissed. The last two times I was trying to acquire arrows- the first time, the owner was out, and the staff didn't know which arrows would work best, he took my number, and told me he'd have my boss call- two weeks later, no call. I decided to try again, and the person I talked to at that time said he would put in an order for my arrows- but nearly three weeks later, I'm going to Hood River to pick up arrows. read more

Went here for the first time to shoot arrows with three of my friends. (3-1-14). We were new so we didn't know how it works, but it turns out all we had to do was simply go up to the counter and rent a bow and they give you 4 arrows and you're ready to go! We didn't have to pay until after we finished. Everyone there was really friendly, the customers, and the employees. Since my friend and I were new we shot really bad (like hitting the wood or arrows sliding on ground) we thought someone was going to come and yell at us, but my two more experienced friends were like "don't worry about it." They allow a lot of freedom, while at the same time making sure safety is a top priority. I am pretty sure I'll come back, because I had a lot of fun. I needed a cam replaced for my PSE. These guys were great. I have a custom bow that needed some extra diagnosing and configuring. They took care of everything, provided quality work, and great communication. When I came to pick up the bow, they spent at least a half hour to make sure everything was kosher and gave also some good advice on bow maintenance. I didn't spend any time on the range or bought any bows so I can't comment on those, but as far as service is concerned, these gents have been top notch the couple of times I was there. Lastly, I almost didn't check these guys out because of some of the negative comments here. I don't know wth people are talking about because I didn't see any of that. I like this place because of the patience of the employees and the availability of the virtual reality hunting. I've never been to archery before and they were very kind and gave me a couple tips. I took some time warming my arm up with some of my friends before we went into the hunting room. It's just a small, long room that is dark with a screen and projector. I went there for the first time to try out my new recurve bow. The staff is very pleasant. They helped me get the right kind of arrows for my bow. The staff also offered tips on improving my shooting. The range is very clean and having a rain coat hanger is always helpful in Portland! Today after not having fired a bow in ten years I wound up with a 1000$ Hoyt by chance. It didn't come with sights or arrows, so I got the sights on my own and took it in. They gave me the screws I was missing for the sights and installed it for free and then tested my draw length, and gave me it of info on my bow. I bought some arrows and had some time on the range and had a blast. The regulars were friendly and all had good advice. I was hitting a bullseye about every 4 shots or so. Very happy with this place, excellent customer service. I will be back on a regular basis without a doubt. read more

Good bow shop if you know exactly what you want and are just going in to purchase it and leave. If you want any information about getting into the sport, or if you are wanting to try something new and are not an expert this is NOT the place. Their customer service is VERY poor for the beginner archer. I spent a good deal of money here getting my bow set up and was mocked by employees for my inexperience. They are not helpful at all and act like helping you and answering your questions is not their job. I would highly suggest finding another bow shop to do business with. read more

I stopped by because I would like to learn to be an archer but know nothing at this point about the sport. The first young man wasn't helpful at all. I asked if they had classes and he said that if I buy a bow, they will teach me how to shoot it. I asked how I was supposed to know what bow to buy, if I don't know anything about them. He said he wasn't sure. The second young man working there was more helpful and did answer some of my questions. However, without at least a beginners class, how am I supposed to make a purchase? They did let me walk around and play with the bows they had. Come to find out after watching some You Tube videos, this is NOT a good idea. From what I have now learned, you never want to dry fire a compound bow. It can cause major damage and possible injury to yourself. Luckily, while I did pull back the string on a few bows to see if I could do it, I didn't dry fire them. If you are already an experienced archer and just want to buy things, it did look like they had a lot of stuff. However, if you are a beginner, would like to learn but don't know what you are doing yet, I would stay far away from this place! read more

Went in to buy new arrows for my daughter's bow because I was pretty sure the ones we had were over-spined. They were busy when we got there and we had to wait our turn but the guy who helped took a good look at her bow, made some adjustments, and shot on paper a bit to get it shooting right with the arrows we had. I ended up spending much, much, less than I had planned. I know other reviewers have been critical of their customer service. As they helped us and as we waited I noticed they made a great effort to contact each customer as they came through the door and let them know what they were working on and how long it would be before they could get to them. In this world of immediate satisfaction I'm sure there's folks that won't be any happy with any wait at all but I can honestly say they were trying their best. Bottom line, the customer service was great, despite a short wait. read more

While the location is convenient, they have a good selection of merchandise, and have a decent shooting range, I won't be returning due to lack of any customer service. The first time I visited it was just before hunting season and it was really crowded, so I understand the long wait times. But after returning three more times to use the range, and having nobody available talk to about availability or to pay, I'm done. My son and I went to shoot (we have our own equipment), and the range was mostly empty, but arrows were in all the stand-up quivers for each lane. Any employees were well camouflaged and nobody came to the front desk in the 15 minutes we stood there, although several people passed behind the counter, glancing at us as they cruised past. The business doesn't seem to want my money, so I'll oblige them by taking my business across the river. read more

Best archery shop around! I ordered a custom bow and after waiting a few short weeks, was shooting a whole new setup that was tuned perfectly. I've never had a problem with the staff not helping me unlike the other reviews, I find it hard to believe that there's so many negatives on the service. The staff actually knows what they're talking about unlike other shops I've been to. The range is very nice and clean with fantastic bales to shoot at. They cater to practical minded people. I purchased a bow here for my son Christmas before last ( 2011 ). Since it was a gift I was torn between the bow I purchased and one in a similar price range but did not have features that allow a bow to be adjusted for a growing archer. With there experience they educated me with little to no pressure. He is still shooting that bow though he has grown 4-5 inches. After a half year of use the sight that was included in the package broke because the bow was dropped during archery season. Bad landing. I went in for advice and they put another on it for the cost of shipping. I did not know it was under warranty. Included in the purchase was multiple free visits to the range and use of video shoot. One time we forgot the punch card and they allowed us to shoot on the honor system. If you are patient they will get to you. I find them a bit laid back and not pushy. I have purchased a bow at another archery shop in the area and find myself returning here for help. On the other hand I have been surprised that they charged me for little things on one trip and not on another. Depends which employee you talk to I guess. read more

I went in last week to confirm all the reviews I have read myself. After spending 30 minutes being completely ignored by one employee working the whole store I confirmed all the reviews. He just continued to talk to his friend at the counter like I wasn;t even there. Keep in mind there was all of 4 people in the store. I gave it 1 star because the store was clean and organized with a nice selection of equipment to choose from. The owner needs to clean house on employees now. Wow. When I, a seriously novice archer, know more about archery than the guy helping me at Broken Arrow, I know I should just shop at Cabela's online or drive to Tigard for Archer's Afield. I wanted to give my money to a local place, but the apathy and ignorance at BA are a powerful combo. Responses to my questions included. "I don't know" and "Oh, that number on the arrow shaft doesn't mean anything." Take some pride in your job! I'll be sure to shop elsewhere in the future. Huge bummer. read more

He seems quite put out by having to make sales or answer any of your questions if your not one the the good ol' boys. This place has a nice indoor range and a few nice employees. Unfortunately because one kid has to look down his nose at anyone new to the sport I will NOT be purchasing anything else here. Learn to treat people with kindess and respect. The good things about this store is the amount of inventory and they have a nice range. So if you want to shoot or pick up something quick, it's not a bad choice BUT if you want to buy a bow and get it setup, you should look elsewhere. We purchased a brand new Hoyt Powermax from here and went back to get it setup. We had to wait quite a bit but that's not the reason for the low star rating. The setup felt rushed, the bow didn't feel right but they assured me everything was properly done ( this is my first bow ). I shot it for a week or so and it just didn't feel right. Ended up going to Precision Archery which is a GREAT place and they found all sorts of issues. My draw length was an inch short, my rest wasn't properly configured and the cams were off by 1/2 an inch. The cams were also not set identical, so even though they were off, they also didn't match on each end of the bow which creates an un even bow when pulling back. All of this MATTERS when shooting a bow. After they adjusted everything correctly the bow felt a lot more comfortable and was shooting like a Hoyt should. So if you want to buy a bow and have it setup properly, Precision Archery is where you should go. read more

This place is awesome. A nice quiet sanctuary for all types of archers. I have been coming for for about a year & have grown greatly as an archer since then. Like many new to the obsession, I had many questions/ issues with my bow & was met with excellent info as well as suggestions by the knowledgeable staff. Ill admit that it can be a bit busy during certain times of the year, but I can see now that each question & problem can involve more than a quick solution. I remember dry firing my bow one day & rushed over to them like a panicked parent with a sick child. They looked it over, fixed it up & made everything right again. Also since then i've made many great friends from different fields that have provided invaluable insight on techniques & equipment. So thank you to Dana, Eddie, Carl, Jared & the rest of the staff for helping me out. Broken arrow archery provided me with excellent service and objective viewpoints on my gear as well as upgrades. I first came in with a crummy bow and they shot me straight and told me my options, after when I upgraded from a private party I was able to bring my new bow in and have them install new hardware and strings and cables.
