    Simulator

The simulator was so fun and we learned so much from the instructor. It was a little spendy but it was so worth it.

Had a weird experience at threat I talked with Ryan I'm pretty sure that was his name a few weeks ago. I came just to shoot my gun with my friend and he was very pushy on training and told me about the VR that isn't working so why even waste my time. The rest of the staff was very nice to us but I didn't need to feel like I had to buy a package or what felt like a credit card being shoved down my throat. I don't understand why being a girl makes others feel like they can't cheat us out of our time.

To start of, guns are dangerous and one must take great care in participating in in the activities here. Having said that, there are basically two parts to the TD. The first is a standard 20 yard range (8 or 9 lanes) and a VR simulation room. You can bring your own gun or rent the guns onsite. Ammunition is available for purchase and they are careful with how much ammunition is sold or brought in. Unfortunately, I was with a party of 18 guys. Half wanted to use the range and the other half wanted to use the VR. I am not too sure about the process for handling such a large party but they missed giving a safety protocols while at the live firing range. I did notice that they had some kind of Valentines Day special for couples where they provided everything necessary for using the range including a safety instruction for those who needed it. The instructors are really friendly and everyone had a great time.

This is a broken auto turret display at the range. This was the third broken one in a row, the first two stopped moving the target.

Edit: I changed the star from 1 to 2. I think the employees were trying their best, if I come back and the targets are operational I'll make sure to update the post. There were safety and operational problems today when I went to Threat Dynamics. First off, the automatic return machine in the lane I was on broke and stopped moving. I had to go to the counter and ask for help. They said use another one, and that one broke minutes later! So I went up there and immediately asked for an RSO. A Safety Officer, to make sure I wasn't breaking these machines or perhaps I hadn't figured out how to make them work. Generally when you ask for an RSO at any range that cares about safety they immediately pay attention to you. After all, RSOs are responsible for the safety of the range and the people using them. The staff called to a man working the counter who said he would get to me in a minute, then nonchalantly finished the transaction with small talk, then turned around to get his drink, then he mozied over to the other counter to ask the boss if he was going to get "30 minutes RSO time" because he has been asked to help me! Threat Dynamics, this is NOT ok. What if I was trying to report a dangerous thing going on at the range? What if there was a fire? I'm having trouble understanding how this isn't a huge red flag for anyone who wants to shoot there. Nobody knew I was asking for help with the return machines, I could have been up there asking for a safety officer for any reason. So when the RSO had time to approach me, I asked if he would try these machines out for me to make sure they were actually broken. The look on his face told me that he already knew they were broken and that I wasn't the only person who has brought it up. So, we head back to the range. He presses the buttons, shrugs and says that we should take this next lane... while saying this he leans his head over to see downrange at that lane and he realizes that there's no autotarget on that lane. It's out for repairs. He then points to the one after that. I ask if I should put my AK in my case to transport it to the new lane and he said that's not necessary, it's safe just to move it. Without checking my chamber or verifying if the weapon was flagged he then picked it up and moved it. An innocent, honest mistake made by someone who may have had other things on his mind as we all do from time to time but a dangerous and pointlessly risky move to assume someone else's gun is unloaded and safe. This man was not present and paying attention when he did that and it was another red flag that this company isn't operating proper safety procedures. OK. Back to shooting. I begin at the 3rd lane of the day and I notice that the digital number pad that shows the distance of your target is broken on this machine, so now I'm sighting in my optic by assuming the target is far enough away. Proof is shown in the picture I posted below. So after shooting I go out and ask to talk to a manager, which I then explain everything that is going on. She's very apologetic and friendly about the whole ordeal and comps the range time. Since I lost 4 targets to auto return machines that are broken, she kindly comps the cost of those as well. That made shooting two boxes of ammo $30. She also explained that they are working with a skeleton crew at the moment, one of the machines are out for repairs, and when another employee asked if it was a specific one they said "no, it's not that one... that ones been out forever." I got a card that is offering me a free loaner gun. But to get that according to their documentation, I have to pay for an RSO to be present, bring one of my guns, and bring a friend along as well on top of not being able to bring any of my ammo. It's not quite a concession, it's more of a money making proposition. This was upsetting to me because this place is very expensive compared to the competitors in the surrounding area, but they make up for it by being known as having a high quality establishment. I ask you, does this sound like a high quality establishment? TD, you are welcome to check the camera footage. It occurred today Jan 31st between 1:44pm to 2:44pm.

Well run shooting range. Helpful staff. Reasonable prices! If it wasn't so far from Rockaway Beach I would go more.

Most impressive they created a serious, safe, and careful environment while maintaining a light, positive, and engaging experience. We were a group of 4 and all 4 of us had never handled a gun so we were as fresh as could be but Woody and Jason had us shooting, and handling the guns like pros by the end. Woody's confidence, and deep knowledge in his field is felt throughout the lesson and it allows even the most nervous and hesitant students (like myself) feel at ease. If you are considering a lesson in firearms I HIGHLY recommend Active Problem Solutions. I believe even an experienced gun owner could benefit from a few hours with Woody.

My…read morewife has held a weapon once in her life, and my daughter had only fired a few rifles 2 to 3 times with friends. I am former military, but terribly out of practice when it comes to weapons and took the opportunity to join my wife and daughter in a refresher course. The three of us took Firearms for Absolute Beginners with Alex and were incredibly pleased with the results. We spent four full hours combing through the basics. He walked us through how semi automatic pistols and revolvers work, showed us how bullets work, gave us a fantastic lesson on the different calibers and types, and we spent almost an hour, practicing loading and unloading weapons safely. My wife went from being a nervous wreck to being relaxed and comfortable around a handgun, and my daughters confidence grew tenfold. I picked up some terrific tips for proper stance and grip, which showed immediate results on the range. The following day I practiced with my 9mm and noticed a significant improve in my shot group. If you're new to handguns or just need a refresher course so that you can get comfortable with them again, I strongly recommend Jones firearm training. Alex was infinitely patient with our silly questions and helped foster a comfortable atmosphere where the entire family was able to learn.
