I am former military, but terribly out of practice when it comes to weapons and took the opportunity to join my wife and daughter in a refresher course. The three of us took Firearms for Absolute Beginners with Alex and were incredibly pleased with the results. We spent four full hours combing through the basics. He walked us through how semi automatic pistols and revolvers work, showed us how bullets work, gave us a fantastic lesson on the different calibers and types, and we spent almost an hour, practicing loading and unloading weapons safely. My wife went from being a nervous wreck to being relaxed and comfortable around a handgun, and my daughters confidence grew tenfold. I picked up some terrific tips for proper stance and grip, which showed immediate results on the range. The following day I practiced with my 9mm and noticed a significant improve in my shot group. If you're new to handguns or just need a refresher course so that you can get comfortable with them again, I strongly recommend Jones firearm training. Alex was infinitely patient with our silly questions and helped foster a comfortable atmosphere where the entire family was able to learn.

Warning! Thieves!…read more Despite the same location, and same name of "Advanced Firearms Training" this is NOT the same gun store that had been in business for a long time. It's a completely different management, and crew from the friendly gun store that used to be here. I recently sold several unused stripped upper and lower recievers, and a box of unopened windowed PMags to this store and experienced what I can only describe at best as deceptive business practices, followed by true theft! When I brought in the items, the employee first attempted to lowball me by claiming he could get them for $6 each from wholesalers (which is obviously untrue for windowed PMags in current market conditions). He then offered $5 each, justifying this by dissing me by saying "You're just a guy who came in here, not a wholesaler" as if that made the product itself any different; they were unopened. Despite considering the low offer, I never actually agreed to it. Additionally, I explicitly told him not to combine the sale with the receivers, yet he took my magazines away after counting them. However, after completing the required paperwork and signing over the firearms, he used fast distraction techniques, and paid me hundreds of dollars less than the amount we had agreed upon. By the time I realized the discrepancy; the transfer was already complete, he had taken my magazines away, and there was nothing I could do about it. The entire interaction felt predatory, with the employee using his position to take advantage of someone who needed the money. His claims about wholesale pricing were blatant lies, and the failure to pay the agreed amount after the transfer was complete is unacceptable. Stealing my magazines was outright theft of over a thousand dollars worth of magazines. I would caution anyone doing business here to get all terms in writing before beginning any transaction and to count your money carefully before signing any paperwork. And anyone selling multiple guns here, to do it one gun at a time, to prevent being bamboozled and robbed. There are plenty of honest gun stores in the area, and this unfortunately wasn't one of them.

The company has a total of 7 instructors. It was a 2hr class that he graciously went over about 30 minutes to fully brief us on what he knows are important to know as our goal was basic handling and safety. James was very thorough, pleasant and direct with his intentions of what beginners with no formal experience should know. We didn't expect the level of knowledge and hands on that we got today. We even got to do a "fitting" to ensure which type of handgun would work best for us as individuals. We recommend this company for any beginners to take as their main concern is safety and to give you the tools necessary to safely operate a handgun. Or a novice trying to scale up. We also have two other scheduled classes with them in the next coming months and I am excited to be with professionals who are there to teach at your pace, correct where necessary and reinforce good practices.
