We came in before winter and took advantage of their season long ski rentals for my two 7 y/o daughters. Service was prompt, and they had everything we needed, boots, skis, poles for a very affordable early bird value. I'm going to say it was no more than $175 per girl. 2nd. Had the privilege of working with Rob in the ski boots department and he was amazing. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and took his time explaining the process along with any potential costs along the way to avoid any potential surprises. I'd hands down recommend checking out mountain shop in both of these areas. You won't be disappointed.

To be fair, we were a pretty easy audience and they had a few well-qualified individuals helping us, but they certainly went above and beyond to explain function, form, fit, and cost for our helmets and climbing harnesses, as well as carabiners and tethers. Renting Mountaineering Boots, crampons and ice axe - this was also deceptively easy the first two times, so I was a bit surprised the third time, when they had boots and cramps, but didn't have a rental ice axe on a Thursday. As a nube, I didn't know we were right in the middle of climbing season. I spent about 15 minutes at the climbing desk with Sven(?) and purchased the correct axe for the climb. Sven was super knowledgeable and listened well, which bodes well when safety and efficiency are such a big deal on the mountain. Shopping for a belay parka - I want to sneak up on this, because it may well be a $500 purchase, if and when I pull the trigger. The associate was willing to spend concerted time with me, even when I admitted I was just looking for information. He explained the different fabrics and fills and construction, and talked through the options. Layers, a puffy, and a rain coat have been sufficient so far for me, and he affirmed the belay parka was for specific usage. Still, I will likely purchase it here as opposed to on-line if/when the time comes. I have needed extra carabiners, waterproofing spray, and a sit pad, and the staff has always been knowledgeable and attentive. Good job, Mountain Shop!

Once upon a bargain dream, you shined so bright and kind,…read moreBut your basement full of goodwill finds feels lost in dusty time. Those shelves once held the magic where the cheap and quirky gleamed, Now the prices sit there towering far higher than I dreamed. I wandered through the upper floor, all pristine, neat, and new, But the true delight was down below, where hidden treasures grew. Now the swell of cost has smothered that old familiar spark, And taking all the kiddos' toys? That's what really hit the mark. Sure, I found a gem or two that made my heartbeat skip, But joy can turn to sorrow with a single tightened grip. So hear my plea and soften don't make thrifters pay in gold; Bring back the charm, the deals, the warmth, the stories once foretold. Let kindness guide your pricing, let nostalgia ring its chime For something dear has vanished here, A bargain lost in time .

There is no dedicated parking, so finding a spot to park can be challenging at times. There are also a lot of unhoused people in the adjacent neighborhood. There is a lot of stuff here! It's actually a little overwhelming to try to navigate the store because there are literally racks and shelves of stuff everywhere. So Probably not the best place if you get claustrophobic easily. My favorite part about this place is definitely the bargain basement. You can sell your stuff, find good deals, and even rent ski and snowboard equipment! So cute and fashionable, can wear with track pants, jeans or a dress. Definitely a score! The store is large and rows and rows of sneakers, shoes, sandals, boots of every designer and style. It can be overwhelming especially when you need to try on a different size and can't find your way back to the right aisle. Some sections are marked, but others, like sketchers, are located in several different places. They carry all the usual suspects - Sketchers, Nike, Reebok, New Balance, Birkenstock, Fry, Uggs, Ryka, Clarks, White Mountain, Puma, Adidas and more. Prices are good, but I always do a search online to make sure it's the best price available. Many times it is, but sometimes the same shoe can be bought online for less so if it fits and I like it, I order it online. I come to the physical store because I need to try on shoes. I need arch support and a wide toe bed so I can't take a chance of buying shoes or sandals without testing them out. Famous Footware also sells online and since I loved the sneakers so much, and knew they fit well after wearing a few weeks, I bought another pair online in white and silver. If you sign up for their rewards program, they ship to your house for free and you can return at the store for free if it doesn't work out. There were a few people working but they don't offer help. Assuming it's because their business model is more of a do it yourself model . They put all the shoes and sizes out in the floor and you find and try on what you like. It got tiring because I tried on so many and was conscientious and pout everything back that didn't work out.

We got in line and my husband took a picture of our original receipt before we did the return for details on the garments that we purchased. A man in line behind us said something to my husband about why aren't you moving (in the line) and my husband turned around and said I'm taking a a picture and calm down we'll move in a second. The gentleman said oh sorry I didn't know. Well little did we know that a sales associate behind the counter that saw the interaction from a different perspective, thought that we were being rude to the gentleman behind us. So lo and behold we get up to her counter and she cops an attitude from the get go. My husband, who is the nicest person in the world, tries to make conversation with her at which point she turns to us and says I thought you were rude to the gentleman behind you. Mind you the whole time, she is giving us attitude and throwing our garments on the counter. That is when I stepped in and said oh no Liz, you don't get to say that. So here's the reason for my review. As a sales person I get it. You get good and bad customers. By all means Liz, talk to your coworkers after we leave if you think we were that rude to the gentleman behind us. The gentleman and myself and my husband had moved on from the incident, but you decided to make a bigger issue out of it. That is not customer service! That is rude on your end. Your job is to help the customer. Whatever you think of the customer in that setting, you keep it to yourself. Share with your coworkers after we leave. Share with your family when you get home from a long day. But do not tell the customer that they were rude when you did not read the situation correctly! At this point, it will be a very long time before I step back into a Nordstrom rack.
