    They have name brand stuff

This is a pretty cool spot to buy local gear in a very central location. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. There is no dedicated parking, so finding a spot to park can be challenging at times. There are also a lot of unhoused people in the adjacent neighborhood. There is a lot of stuff here! It's actually a little overwhelming to try to navigate the store because there are literally racks and shelves of stuff everywhere. So Probably not the best place if you get claustrophobic easily. My favorite part about this place is definitely the bargain basement. You can sell your stuff, find good deals, and even rent ski and snowboard equipment! This place is basically a local REI with the chance to sell used equipment and score a good deal in in their bargain area. Check it out if you have a chance.

    Big sale

I thought the sale would be huge, with discounts up to 75% on everything. However, it turned out that most of all the items were only 20% off, with a few at 30%. I didn't see any items 75% discounts. Some people were confused about the pricing; they mentioned a red dot on the Snow Peak items, but we were told not to look for a red spot and to instead check for a green marker on the price tags. It felt like a big letdown because I expected a significant sale, but there really wasn't anything that impressive. I'm super disappointed and feel like everyone else is thinking, "Oh, you thought it was a big sale? Pfft!" Just to clarify: - Green means 20% off. - Red means 75% off.

Tag says, "Used Gear: perfect for those of you that are new to a sport, only get out a few times a year, are thrifty..."

Looking for outdoor gear? Here's my recommendation: go to the basement at Next Adventure. While a certain outdoor gear mega corporation has their "garage sale" every so often, Next Adventure has their basement sale constantly. Also unlike that mega corporation, the staff here is actually knowledgeable and helpful. On my last visit, a staff member came over and helped me look through all the used sleeping bags to help determine which one is best for me (material, temperature, size, etc). The one we settled on was marked $49 which was an okay deal but not exciting... then she goes "oh that should be $15, let me give you a new price tag for it." Mind blown! My friend who recommended the basement to me got a fancy down jacket that costs $400 new for $30 here. And while some things in the basement are a little worse for wear, most of them don't have major imperfections either - no tears, rips, holes, stains, smells, or other defects that might lead to the low costs. They're just great deals.

I just got a new paddle board and decided to get a life vest, so I can hit the water tomorrow. They have all kinds of stuffs for water adventures, kayaking, rafting, paddling, etc. I am a newbie and overwhelmed with all things they offered. Staffs were helpful to decide what I needed, tried on a couple of vests would fit my size and budget (lol), got my vest with satisfaction (and it was closed-out sale, yay!) I would recommend checking out your new gears with them before you make a decision.

I have been in here a few times this year for various goods and services, so here goes:…read more Mazamas BCEP Gear Night - this was excellent all the way around. To be fair, we were a pretty easy audience and they had a few well-qualified individuals helping us, but they certainly went above and beyond to explain function, form, fit, and cost for our helmets and climbing harnesses, as well as carabiners and tethers. Renting Mountaineering Boots, crampons and ice axe - this was also deceptively easy the first two times, so I was a bit surprised the third time, when they had boots and cramps, but didn't have a rental ice axe on a Thursday. As a nube, I didn't know we were right in the middle of climbing season. I spent about 15 minutes at the climbing desk with Sven(?) and purchased the correct axe for the climb. Sven was super knowledgeable and listened well, which bodes well when safety and efficiency are such a big deal on the mountain. Shopping for a belay parka - I want to sneak up on this, because it may well be a $500 purchase, if and when I pull the trigger. The associate was willing to spend concerted time with me, even when I admitted I was just looking for information. He explained the different fabrics and fills and construction, and talked through the options. Layers, a puffy, and a rain coat have been sufficient so far for me, and he affirmed the belay parka was for specific usage. Still, I will likely purchase it here as opposed to on-line if/when the time comes. I have needed extra carabiners, waterproofing spray, and a sit pad, and the staff has always been knowledgeable and attentive. Good job, Mountain Shop!

This review covers two different services at Mountains Shop, both proved to be excellent…read more 1st. We came in before winter and took advantage of their season long ski rentals for my two 7 y/o daughters. Service was prompt, and they had everything we needed, boots, skis, poles for a very affordable early bird value. I'm going to say it was no more than $175 per girl. 2nd. Had the privilege of working with Rob in the ski boots department and he was amazing. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and took his time explaining the process along with any potential costs along the way to avoid any potential surprises. I'd hands down recommend checking out mountain shop in both of these areas. You won't be disappointed.
