I have been to the Broadway Diner for lunch and found it satisfying. I recently went there for dinner with a friend and had a horrible dining experience. We both ordered the special beef short ribs. The meat was extremely fatty and we left most of it on our plate. The mashed potatoes what watery and probably out of a box. They were out of string beans so we opted for the spinach that was salad spinach that you could buy in a supermarket. All in all this was a terrible dining experience and I will never have dinner at this Diner again. read more

My husband treated me to lunch at Broadway Diner over the weekend. He'd been here a few months ago with friends, and wanted us to check it out together. We were seated at one of the booths inside. I ordered the ongo burger and he got the veggie panini. The knife was sticking out of my burger when it came to the table. I used it to cut the burger in half and then smaller pieces after realizing it'd be too messy to hold barehanded. I'm pretty sure it was a steamed cheeseburger; tasted good. My waffle fries were on point. My partner said he liked his veggie panini with regular fries, coleslaw, and pickle. He also ordered a coffee with his meal. When you order coffee, it comes out to the table in a metal carafe so you can refill on your own as needed. I thought that was cool. Two thumbs up for Broadway Diner :) read more

Does anybody take better food pics than me - the Rebel Chef? Not a chance. Not here. Not at Broadway. Broadway Diner has excellent breakfast and luncheon snack food. A friendly, airy atmosphere complements a nice drive-up and a tight parking area. Walking up you are welcomed by a gigantic awning and plenty of space inside to get any large-size eater-group settled down and situated. Broadway has infinitely better ambience and the lighting on the tables is pitch-perfect. At other places around the country you eat in the dark! My simple BLT and fantastic fries were insanely good: the bread was warm and charred, mayo of a higher quality, thick bacon and CRISP lettuce. For dessert somewhere in the middle I enjoyed an entire STACK of fluffy (and generous) pancakes. It was a VERY memorable pancake pile that I do not regret recommending for an instant. I would get them tomorrow morning! The food is solid. There are neat old time photos on the walls and out the back windows are views of intersections. I went into this diner because I was recommended to come the WORST mistake I ever made .The owner is extremely racist told me to turn down the volume of my phone , which I was sitting alone that is the reason why I was on my phone to begin with . I wasn't any louder than the other customers around me talking to their friends and family . He kept giving me dirty looks . I asked him what was the problem and he told me my phone was . Linda , (not sure who she is) approached me as well and told me to turn my phone down when I wasn't even using it in that moment . They also were being racist to an African American employee it is now 10:30 am and he's been here since 7am and they only gave him 2 tables to serve (heard him comparing about it). In addition the owner refused to give me his name (bald white guy sitting people) I asked my waitress which was friendly what was his name and another waitress interrupted and told her not to give it to me . & on top of all that the food was TRASH ! Such a terrible experience. I've never felt so humiliated in my life . read more

Ive seen a lot of bad reviews on this place, but honestly, me and my friends went here to eat and it's actually quite good, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger wrap and it was great, my family ordered other things like chocolate chip pancakes, burgers, avocado toast, etc. So if anyone gets a chance to eat here, do it, it's worth it! I always get My blue heaven tuna sandwich and it is amazing. Smoothies and juices are fresh. You can pick what fruits and vegetables you want in your juice. Pancakes are great. Service is friendly and attentive. Pleasant environment. Clean place. Will definitely come there again! read more

Atmosphere: The Broadway Diner looks like a typical diner. The outside has a large parking lot and sign that says: "world's best pancakes." I've found many diners have a sign that says: "world's best something" or the best diner in X country or even the best diner in the state.  I actually didn't see the sign outside until I took a photo afterward. Otherwise I would have gotten pancakes. The inside of the Broadway Diner has plenty of booths, tables, and a bar. When you arrive at the Broadway Diner, there are two different rooms, one with a seating area and one without. Coffee: The coffee at Broadway Diner was okay but not the best. Food: The Broadway Diner menu has everything you could imagine and more. There are plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.  The outside said "world's best pancakes," but I didn't see it until later. Since it was a Saturday, I decided to order the "Saturday Salad." The Saturday salad came with spinach leaves, pears, feta cheese, cranberries, and walnuts. I decided to order sliced steak.  I thought the salad itself was delicious, but the steak was rubbery and tough to eat. I was disappointed with the steak, but the salad itself was good. I would order it again but with a different meat topping. Service: The Broadway Diner was quiet when we went. There were only a few parties at the diner. Our food came out fast as well. Our waiter, himself, was very friendly.  In all, it was a great experience. Would I Come Back? I liked the Summit Diner and I would go one of their locations to try the "World's Best Pancakes." ‼I have tried this dinner three times. Every time they fail to do their job. The food has ZERO flavour. I tried their avocado stuffed shrimp salad. It was literally just that except the shrimp smutured in mayo rested on a few leaves of lettuce no dressing and I paid almost $20. Huge fan of the Broadway Diner in Bayonne, this diner is owned by the same family. The food was just as good, if not a little better, but the menu options were a lot smaller. The service was Superbad - the capitalization and spelling you will soon understand. When first seated, I noticed an abundance of spots on my silverware - not a good start. But they were replaced, so that was all good. There weren't many fellow diners, and the food came out a bit slow on that basis. Now here is where the story truly begins. Almost immediately after a runner brought our food, the server - whom I'll refer to hereafter as McLovin - asked how things were. Of course we hadn't had an opportunity to find out yet, and told him so. Right across the booth from me is one of those ubiquitous diner mirrors, this one giving a clear view of the beverage station behind me. And there leans McLovin, being positively McLovinly. A few minutes later, I'm out of coffee, and look up - he has vanished. So five minutes later he finally reappears, I summon him, and get a java refill. So far so mediocre. Then a few servers seat themselves in a booth just across the dining room. Cool, whatever, it's not that busy, why not take advantage and have a meal. Twenty minutes probably go by, as we are having a really awesome conversation at my table, when all of a sudden I realize: McLovin has vanished! It's a good fifteen minutes later that I notice, huddled in the booth of servers, was the one who actually had a table on which to wait: our own McLovin. While I was relieved that Seth Rogen and Bill Hader hadn't taken him on patrol, it was disappointing that he couldn't give us a little courtesy of checking on our table. So once I finally get his attention and ask for the check - expressing my relief that he had not, as I'd feared, vanished or taken ill - he immediately placed it on the table. McLovin had been sitting there all this time, oblivious in his McLovinverse, attentive enough to have a check but not motivated enough to deliver it or otherwise communicate with guests. The kicker: the last time the two of us dined here, guess who our semi-present server was? Yep. McLovin. And somehow this was a step down in his interactions. I tried to express my dissatisfaction while paying the check at the register, but got only an awkward smile, no eye contact, no thank you, no come again, anything. So in recap, this sequel to Superbad gets two emphatic, and unacknowledged, thumbs down. This review says to skip The McLovining. read more

There's something basically wrong with this place. I ordered the "world's best pancakes" and was able to recall several other places that have much better pancakes. The service is fine if you don't mind waiters standing around at the back of the restaurant staring at you through your entire meal. My husband ordered fish and chips that tasted like it had been thrown in a pot of boiling water - do not recommend! There is a large selection of candy and sweets at the front counter, as if to make up for the lackluster food and random people lurking in shadows through the diner. read more

So the last time I was here, had to be at least 30 years ago. The menu is definitely not your typical diner menu. It's a bit confusing. So I opted to get the pumpkin pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. I got coffee and cranberry juice. Instead of getting cranberry juice in a glass the waitress brought out a bottle of ocean spray cranberry juice with a glass of ice. The pumpkin pancakes were very good. The eggs were also very good and not greasy. The bacon serving was huge but kinda too greasy. The coffee was good and when the waitress asked if I wanted more, she brought a small carafe. The service was excellent. The food was consistent with what it was 30 years ago but the price of my meal is not consistent with other diners. It cost me almost $30 where this same in another diner should've cost around $20-$25. That being said, I probably won't be back for that reason, unless I have no other choices. read more

This place really hits the spot if you're a family. They really understand what it means to have young kids at a restaurant. In all honesty I never expect much from a diner but their food was better than what I expected. We arrived with our 3 year old who's unfortunately at the penultimate tantrum time and also our 2 month old dtr. We were greeted and seated immediately, and the waitress knew to bring our son's food first-and she brought it fast! My son had the French toast with fruit which was very good. I got the tuna sandwich which had a lot of tuna, just wish there was less mayonnaise. My husband got the grilled chicken panini which was very good- they didn't skimp on the avocado like most places do. We were doing what we could to manage our baby who needed a diaper change and our hyperactive son, and they were very accommodating. They also have a changing table in the upstairs and downstairs bathroom. The stalls in the downstairs bathroom are very tiny so it was hard to be in there with my son and also shut the stall door. On our way out, we were again treated very nicely as we paid for our meal at the checkout counter. We had always talked about coming here and I'm glad we did! read more

I have lunch with a group here often and am usually satisfied with food and service so my wife and I decided to try it for breakfast. Abominable! Waitress served coffee (good) and then says, "I'll be right back to take your order. " Why not right now? I am wondering. While the paint dries, she chats with other customers, then in about 5 minutes--no less, she returns and thanks us for our patience. My wife advised her that we hadn't been patient. She took our order and after a long wait, we were served. Poached eggs with burnt toast and home fries that were hash browns with, literally, no taste at all. We complained and the owner gave us a discount somewhat grudgingly. I left a small tip for the waitress but she deserved 0. Breakfast took nearly 50 minutes. We can be in and out of the Kenilworth Diner in 20 minutes if we need to be. One half star. read more

Was really disappointed. Easy order. Tuna on rye with a side of fries to pick up. The bread was stale. So stale it crumbled and broke apart. The lettuce was the core of iceberg - you know, the all white rib of the lettuce. The tomato was completely unripe and hard. The fries were sweet potato fries. Not what I was expecting and soggy. I'm writing this review with mixed feelings. As a long time Summit resident, I have absolutely loved this place, especially since it's convenient at lunch time. However, for the last few months, it has either been a hit or a miss. My last visit... total miss. I got to the diner at about 2:30pm and there were four other vehicles in the parking lot, so they seemed to be slow. I went to my usual right side of the building and sat at the counter. Normally, within five minutes, I would have been greeted by Cherish or Nick, but neither were working that day. It took 12 minutes for someone to even come over. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea, the mini dip lunch special and the tomato barley soup. After waiting about 15 minutes, my soup still hadn't arrived, which I normally get five minutes after the order gets sent in. Someone who wasn't originally waiting on me had to bring it. A minute after the soup came out, the meal came out. By the time I finished the soup, the sandwich and fries were cold. Not only were they cold, but the sandwich was nowhere near the size it used to be and no dipping sauce was provided. I didn't leave until 3:50pm. Way too long for one of their lunch specials. I sure hope that their new staff start getting trained a little better and the kitchen can get their act together. read more
