I really enjoyed the time I spent here. This place was suggested by a friend we were visiting in Cortland. Being from Buffalo I am spoiled with many bars and restaurants. This place was no different. It was warm and inviting. The decor was nice and the alcohol selection was great. Brix must have had at least 30 different flavors of vodka to choose from! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and we found that they had decent drink specials. The bar was packed with Jets fans who had just come from the open practice. It was loud but you could still hold a conversation. I did not order any food so my ratings will strictly be based on location, drinks, and overall atmosphere. Was out here for snowboarding, the town has that "Night of the living dead" vibe, lol... (No dis)... So we found this place AFTER a few disasters eating elsewhere, so I was pretty Apprehensive about eating anywhere else but the hotel. Found this spot and read the reviews on yelp, they did not disappoint. The Atmosphere has young hip atmosphere. Afew old heads but mostly college kids, nice music, cold beer, good Pie. At 6:15pm I placed a delivery order for a 16inch caprese pizza, garlic honey mustard wings and a grilled vegetable salad. We were told it would a hour. At 7:40 I called to check on the order. I was told that the order was done and it would be to me within 10 minutes. At 8:30 the delivery guy arrived with the wings and salad. He forgot the pizza. He said he would have to go get it. I asked him if it would be possible to get a fresh pizza made. He said he didn't know. I told him that I didn't want a cold or dried out pizza. He said he would call and get a fresh one made. I called him 5 minutes later to confirm that he put the order in. He said no because he was put on hold. We then called Brix and said that we would come pick it up ourselves as long as a fresh pizza was made. They said that would be great and too Cooke in ten minutes. When we arrived I said my name to the cashier. He looked for the pizza and didn't see it. He then asked one of the chefs "wasn't their's supposed to be a fresh one made?" The chef said no and grabbed a pizza from the heat lamp. At this point I did not want anymore conflict, so I took the pizza. The pizza was cold and had way to much balsamic on it. Our salad didn't come with any dressing even though we ordered extra. The only redeeming part was the wings. They tasted great. I would not reccomend Brix to anyone. Returned to Brix with the fam: wife and my two boys, 8 and 6. Usually this is the guy place - get my biannual kitchen pass and come play darts and drink some beers with the doods! It's almost a different view to then bring your family into the same establishment, one might even think unorthodox. Buttttt, it's not! Brix is a great family atmosphere as well. My kids love it here. The food is super delicious as always. We always love the veggie fries. The salads were perfect! read more

My son and daughter-in-law are here visiting from SC. They enjoy watching football games and decided to order pizza from Brix to bring home. I was so disappointed! They brought home 2 different pizzas and both were overcooked and dry. I tried to get them to call and express their dissatisfaction but they declined. I however live here and just last Wed got a great pizza from there for lunch. I am just asking you to take a look before you bring it home. There is no excuse for this. We want visitors to love eating out in downtown Cortland. read more

Brix is definetly a great place to check out, my buddy Josh (who actually works there) and I went to watch the SU Duke game. Staff was good, the atmosphere is comforting live the chalk drawings guy is a pro. Meh, not the worst but nothing special. The fountain drinks tasted weird. I'm guessing it was "cola" like RC or something, and my unsweetened iced tea tasted terrible! My pizza was okay. Brix has a vegan menu that you can request. I got a vegan calzone and it was super. The vegan menu has lots of great options. Mostly vegan versions of the main menu... pizza, calzones, made with Dayia, vegan chicken (gardien I think) etc. I was very pleased with everything I ate. Service was good. No complaints. read more

Went for dinner and we were told it was a 30-40 minute wait. We requested an outdoor table. Inside the noise was so loud it was deafening. We waited on a bench across the street and watched how the tables were emptying and not being bussed. After 40 minutes we requested to make sure we will still on the list. We were the next ones up. They told us that the kitchen was slammed due to online ordering and could we wait another 15 minutes. Personally I think actual people in person should be prioritized over online. If you can't handle both choose one or the other or hire more staff. The hostess didn't really seem to care that we left. The town was pretty empty. ThIs place ok. It's not awful. It's not great. Stopped in on Tuesday night while driving out of state. The place is clean, service was fine, food was ok. Their wings are breaded which isn't what I usually expect for buffalo wings. We also had an order of Garlic parm wings which tasted primarily of butter rather than garlic or parm. I have two kids with food allergies, one cannot have gluten, and the other cannot have dairy and certain vegetables (corn, black beans, peppers, onions). Finding a place to eat in Cortland that can offer a selection for both is hard. I thought we had found that at Brix; I was wrong. We placed an order tonight, and we again received the wrong order. This is the 5th time in a row that our order was wrong; I am unsure why I gave them another chance, but I will not ever again. We supported your restaurant during the pandemic; tonight is not the first time I have called to complain about our wrong order. I really like a lot of the food here but every single time I go here there's an issue. It's so annoying because this place has so much potential to be amazing but you can just tell it's just a hot mess behind the scenes. The decor is nice, love the artwork and the look of the place. Prices are decent as well. Every time I come here it literally takes for-evvvvvver. Like so bad to the point that we think that someone quit mid shift and left without telling anyone they had a table. Either no one comes to the table at all.....or literally half an hour later when they do come to the table you have to wait another 45 mins to get your food or even a soda. Once for breakfast we ended up just walking out after ordering and almost 50 mins later no one even came to check on us and let us know the hold up. We visited Brix after a while away and had terrible, super slow service and over-salted food. So disappointing. We will stay away until we hear they've improved. The first restauraunt every Freshman takes her/his family to on move-in weekend. A local Cortland staple. Excellent pizza (Long Islanders may disagree), exceptional service and a diverse, interesting menu. I've ordered multiple pizzas but would definitely recommend the buffalo chicken option. Brix also makes it easy to build your own pasta with whatever you want to have in it, and their burgers are surprisingly good. They'll cook them rare if you ask nicely! At night, this place becomes more of a bar/pubaria. The "T-shirt"s here are absolutely KILLER. Strong mixed drinks that will knock your socks off. Be wary. Their t-shirt designs aren't stellar, but hey, there are pizza slices conveniently available ten feet away. If you're looking to avoid the college crowd, this might not be the place for you. The place also seems to attract some pretty odd Cortland townies late at night, as I realized one summer when I stayed in town for a job I was working. Service is the best part of Brix. I've had nothing but A+ bartenders, waiters and waitresses here. Prices aren't cheap, but they're well worth it. And they have slices all day, I believe! Not sure about late at night though, for the after-bars-close 2am crowd. read more

Ordered here a few months ago for my husband to Pick up some vegan food on the way home from Work. Person on phone was very nice. I ordered everything vegan. And confirmed on the phone everything vegan to the server. Husband got the food, checked receipt which everything was correct and headed home. When I opened the fried green tomatoes they gave us the non vegan ones with pork on it :( I am very allergic to dairy and do not eat meat. Normally I wouldn't care but 10$ for 4 ( maybe it was 5) soggy toms is highway robbery. But we've never eaten here before and have heard wonderful things so we wanted to Give it a try. I contacted via FB and after I was told I was mistaken I ordered the non vegan because they serve both I sent an image of the receipt that said "vegan" on it and was told they would follow up with me. Didn't hear back for 4 days. Contacted again and was given owners number and was told I would be mailed a gift card to come out and try again. It's been maybe two months and I still haven't received anything in the mail. Contacted the owner again and ghosted. I assume this place is good if you don't have any dietary restrictions. Plus at least that long to get their check. While waiting, after placing food order, another couple sat down. They have now left without ordering. We are still waiting for food. Cortland is a strange town. There is not much here besides SUNY-Cortland. The rest of the town is quite "depressed". The school has a very nice if hilly campus and the football facilities are top notch for a level 3 school, and the Jets conduct their summer training camp there. There are a lot of strange people wandering around downtown though, as I guess there's a few "homes" or something here. It's actually pretty creepy sometimes. The "locals" look like either hillbillies or welfare recipients or both. You see a lot of sleeveless button down shirts with mullets on the guys and girls with purple or bright orange hair, (all tastefully done). So location for Brix is what it is, smack in the middle of this downtown mess. The restaurant was nice enough inside , but we were told on a recent visit that there would be a 15 minute wait so we opted for immediate seating outside. That's how Debbi Faye, Melissa Leigh and I got to witness the aforementioned parade of zombies strolling the downtown sidewalks. The food was OK, I had some wings that were supposed to be Habenero HOT but maybe I've burned out my taste buds because I've had much hotter. Debbi had a salad that was OK and Melissa opted for some boneless wings that she ordered Hot, but again, kind of mild. I had a Labatt Blue Lite draft that I really like. My "go to" light beer when in "upstate" NY. The drink menu was interesting. They had a "607" that the menu said included 6 types of flavored Vodka, a splash of Orange Juice and a splash of 7-Up. We were wondering how much of each Vodka they included, when the waitress told us that they actually include a full shot of each flavor of Vodka in a pint glass. Then add the splashes. Even the waitress had to admit that the bar was essentially promoting binge drinking with that one and other similar concoctions. Of course I made a mental note that I would have to try one on my next swing thru town. Service was spotty, as our waitress deserted us for long stretches, leaving me thirsty for more ice cold beer on a very warm August day. Another looooooong wait to pay for our meal. I was tempted to just leave the money on the table but with the zombies ambling by just the other side of a railing this did not seem to be a good idea. She finally came for our dough just as the number of Yellow Jackets swarming our table was beginning to get alarming. Melissa is allergic. Food was really reallllyyy good! I got an alfredo sauce with mozzarella, garlic, and spinach pizza (custom order). And my boyfriend got the BBQ chicken pizza. They had great flavor! However, it was SO loud in there. The music was blasting, therefore people were yelling trying to talk over it. Also the waitress took forever to do things like get change, and boxes. This may be due to the fact that it was a Friday night, and there are a lot of people in town for an event. We traveled up to Greek Peak and the Lodge for a weekend getaway and decided to forgo the terrible restaurant located on site and try this place out in nearby Cortland based on the reviews posted here. Overall is was just OK. French onion soup was decent but nothing special. The pizza was disappointing (pizza snob here). I think the only thing that saved it was a dousing of olive oil on top and on the crust. The chicken fingers portion for the kids was a good size, enough for the two munchkins, but pretty standard (frozen type). The bar and atmosphere was really good though. Felt like the college town it is, on the inside. Go outside and it's like a ghost town. When we go back to visit probably won't eat here again, sorry to say. Perhaps a larger sampling of the menu would be prudent to get a better taste of the food. read more

I attended the Brix friends & family event before the restaurant opened and have nothing but AMAZING things to say about the place. This is exactly what Cortland needs -- great bar, great food, great atmosphere! Lots of TVs, music, and overall space -- the renovation is great! I highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls (I'm pretty sure they're homemade!) and the pizza. Brix Express is connected to the restaurant which services the take-out crowd. My family and I ordered a DIY Pizza, Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls, Mild Wings, Crown City Chicken Riggz, Chicken Parm, and an Anchor Wrap. All in all my family enjoyed this meal other than the Pizza in which case all of us felt there wasn't enough flavor for all that was put in it. (I remember toppings like peppers, onions, sauce, can't remember the rest, but it was loaded). The Chicken Parm was ok. The Riggz was spicy. The wings were ok. Beautiful place inside! Was not expecting how large it is, the beautiful open bar and the exposed brick. We Ordered the arugula salad, caprese pizza and veg pizza. The arugula salad was very good and had lots of toppings: asparagus, strawberries, avocado and nuts. It was the perfect size to split with 4 people to each have a small app size plate before our pizza. We loveddd the caprese pizza. It was perfect and the balsamic glaze on top gave it the perfect zing! I can see why it is marked as the favorite. I would def order this again. The veg pizza was ok, but there wasn't much flavor. More garlic and or a stronger cheese like feta or goat cheese would have made all the difference. Not my fave. The crust was good, but got very hard towards the top. The pizzas were much larger than expected! Also the service was spectacular! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. She didn't miss a beat. We came from out of town to play in soccer tournament. This was good food and a nice pub atmoaphere. Very good bartender and Bloody Mary was really great! I had a spinach calzone that was little underdone and the sauce was meh. The salads are very tasty. Calamari rings were good with sweet chili coating. Waitress was very sweet and tried her best keeping up with our table of 8. Kitchen was not putting orders out in good time. Things came out sporadically so we all were not served together.
