They then tried to cover it up and make excuses as to why they gave our keys to strangers. Lack if security. Major staff turnover in the past year. I'd pick another building to live in if you're going to move to LIC.

During the warmer weather the wait for an elevator is seriously a pain in the ... due to the roof deck being on the West side of the building and everyone and their random friends coming over, it's a nightmare. 2. The cost of living here. And the yearly price increase. Enough said. 3. Lack of a garage for guests when they come visit or some sort of relationship with a parking garage for tenants with cars. 4. Subways are packed to capacity and with increased number of mega buildings going up the subways will be strained even more. 5. The appliances in your unit - not brand new, all used, refurbished and frankly not in the best condition. 6. For what you are paying in rent the "social events" need a serious upgrade. 7. Tiny gym. One Peloton, not enough regular bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, etc. 8. On weekends, the elevators are an issue on both sides of the building - everyone getting brunch at the same time make for frustrating elevator wait times particularly in light of the pandemic. 9. If you have an apartment that faces the street (50th Ave) - the noise and light pollution from the street is intense at night - even if you want to sleep in and can usually sleep through jackhammering concrete this place will correct you of that gift. If facing either 50th or 51st the sunlight blasting in will wake you every morning. 10. The outside trash is picked up very loudly nightly from 10:40pm-1:40am; one trash company comes to pick up Urban Market's trash, another to pick up the apartment building's trash across the street, another to pick up this building's trash, suffice it to say, they are not quiet and the windows provide little sound insulation if you're a light sleeper. 11. The 7 train construction going on across the street if you live on the side facing 50th Ave. is very loud, noisy and while they are not supposed to start until 6 or 7am, there have been times at 5am they have had guys working. 12. Note the curtains provided by the building are not fully opaque, you've been warned. 13. The vents are connected so you can pretty much hear other units in your unit. 14. Walls are pretty thin. Every day I can hear the tenants above me putting on their tap shoes and dancing (mild exaggeration). And every night I hear more noise. 15. Vents between apartments appear connected either by ducts for washer or air ducts. 16. Insulation: in the winter you will need to use your thermostat often unless you can tolerate the cold, there is minimal insulation on the large windows so you can feel a draft even while the windows are shut tight coming in from below the glass. Additionally, if your apartment faces the Powerhouse (e.g. rear building), during the summer, the strength of the sun cooking your unit will be intense even with the see-through shades down; great for indoor gardening though! The Pros: 1. Really nice building staff wirh responsive Building Super, Concierge and Porters 2. It feels like a safe place to live. 3. Location is good 4. The waterfront is really great though it is severely crowded 5. Lots of decent nearby food and wine places to get delivery 6. Laundry room is large but some machines are better than others 7. The building is very well maintained by the porters and staff - everything is clean and orderly 8. CVS Pharmacy, Urban Market, and Black Star bakery all conveniently next door. While it's not yet a flagrant issue, there are a few homeless men in the area likely due to the Borden Avenue Veteran's Residence nearby. One man in particular is a screamer and acts wild and this was pre-COVID, but let it be noted. While there is a police station right by the subway entrance, you should still be alert at all times as they sometimes hang out in the subway landings panhandling etc. Overall this is a great place to live if you find the above "cons" tolerable. Admittedly this review is pointed about the cons as thorough due diligence beforehand will give you a better sense of what to expect. That said, it is by far one of the better "luxury" buildings in the area which is largely due to the fact that it is smaller than the others. Hope this helps you make your decision!

We found this place by walking by. We moved in here with a…read moremove in special. We lived here for a little over a year. There are about a thousand units here. So, keep that in mind. Move in was easy because I didn't have much when I moved in. Lol. We lived in a studio. They have a super efficient front desk that processes packages. If you need something ASAP, you may have to talk to them. But, ours were processed same day. Sign and get it. The front desk overall were nice. They deal with a lot. So, if you have a bad experience, just consider it a one off. Overall, hard working and efficient. After a few months the front staff knew our names. I found that impressive considering there's so many people in the building. You can pay the rent via internet with no service charge. The electric was under a hundred every month. Even less on those months you don't need heat or cold. We used RCN for cable and internet. The box is built into the wall. It's in the closet. They had a promo and we got hbo and showtime. The reception in the building is really bad. You'll need WiFi in the building. We lived on the east wing. I'd recommend that because of the elevator. I rarely waited. The elevator is fast. They have a outgoing mailbox slot for the mailroom. The amenities are nice. The rooftop when we moved in had a mostly unobstructed view of the skyline, but at the end of the lease there was a taller building going up. It's still a sight to see. Try it around sunset the colors and the skyline are amazing. We didn't utilize the grills. But, saw them being used occasionally. A lot of the amenities we not used. The basketball court is a nice touch. Be careful. The gym is nice. A lot of treadmills and weights. Most of the stuff, I didn't know how to use. 90% of the time I got a treadmill. Occasionally had to settle for bike. But. Bikes are always open. When we put requests for maintenance. It was addressed swiftly. The AC/heater is a bit loud, we bought a space heater and cycled the AC. The closets hold more than you think. The studio we had was spacious. Big open space with large windows and views. The kitchen has nice granite countertops. The dishwasher. We used it to hold the dishes to dry, it might have been better to put it on the far side versus near side. The wood flooring is a lighter shade. Not creaky. The washer/dryer combo is nice. It is a Bosch and there is a self-cleaning function. Which we liked. The bathroom has built in shelves and a cabinet. Shower pressure is good. Drain had occasional issues where we probably requested 4 times in our stay there. They use an app called BuildingLink. They cleaned it out every time. Moving out: it was super efficient. There's a lot of families going in and out. But, we got a moving service and they took care of the heavy lifting. We got the first date and time requested. We did the final check out and it went well. They gave us our full deposits back. They also tack on interest. I think the rate is less than 0.01% Overall, I'd recommend the place. It is pricey. We come for one particular doctor out of many in this building, but essentially any of the providers in this building would be the best because they have organized themselves into this top end building. That makes finding a provider easy because all you have to do is check their addresses is in this building to give a vote of confidence. The front security desk is properly staffed even if foot traffic / volume is significant. It is difficult to park nearby, as is always challenging in downtown Flushing. They have more than 20 people working for this building. They have private gym, spa, tv room, conference room, pool ... You name it they have it. So many activities around the year. Sylvan has a garage attached to the building and residents can call for their car using the intercom system in each apartment. The Pinnacle is staffed by wonderful, helpful people who take pride in their jobs and workplace- from the concierge and doormen to the porters and garage valets. I'm a current resident…read more The location is great. It's a nice building, modern, good aesthetics, the interior is well taken care of. Nice communal spaces. There are a few things that aren't great about the apartment itself and somethings that can be maddening to deal with as a resident. Regarding the apartment, my real only complaint is that the walls appear to be thin. I can hear my neighbors television, I can hear my neighbor when he sneezes, I will know if they are home or not because I can hear their forks against the plate when they're eating. Another thing that isn't the worst, but also isn't the best, is that I smell pot smoke in the hallway and in my apartment on a regular basis. Biggest issue I have is that the (outside of the) windows are FILTHY and management just completely neglects them, refusing to clean them despite multiple requests and complaints. You can't clean them yourself. The windows were filthy when I moved in a year ago, and I have consistently emailed management to ask when they were going to be cleaned, and every time they were cagey about it, which is really annoying: never giving a straight answer or providing any information. I have found out that the windows have not been cleaned since 3 years ago, right after the building was completed. So, you're paying high rent for a "luxury" building, but you're looking out of windows covered in grime. Another issue, is that management is basically absent (this ties in to the window issue). I've never met anyone who manages the building, or seen them around the building. They also seem unaccommodating - if you have any special requests or asks, in my experience, they won't be accommodated. In the last "luxury" building I lived in, management was more attentive and tried to work with you - in addition they arranged for bagel brunches once a month, and wine get togethers so everyone could meet each other, etc. That doesn't happen in this building. The building advertises over 40,000 square feet of amenity space but then they took away all of the chairs and seat cushions in the outdoor lounging area in the beginning of September - when there was still at least a month and a half of gorgeous weather when residents could have been using the space. OMG! This place is beyond amazing. This is high class living all the way. The building is super…read moreposh. The materials are high quality. The windows are soundproof. I never heard a train go by whatsoever. Plus, the subways are outdoors and just up the block. No one wants to deal with subway noise. No one will have to in this building. People would be surprised how many luxury high rises in LIC don't have soundproof windows, yet the train is right in front of them as soon as they open their curtains. This place has so many amenities. It includes conference rooms, a tenant lounge, gyms (Yes! Plural. A gym inside and outdoors), a movie theater for movie night, laundry room, and even a pet grooming station. Everything is 24 hours. The décor and ambiance of this place is very industrial, but in a good way. Not an abandoned warehouse kinda way. Tenants are given the option to rent a washer / dryer if they don't want to use the laundry room. There is a concierge / 24 hour doorman service. It is central AC. As of this review date, one can actually score themselves a semi deal during a pandemic. 2 bedrooms have dropped under 3K. That is truly unheard of for this area, and in a luxury high ride condo no less. Every place in the area was charging 3K plus for a 1bedroom pre-pandemic. Best part is, it is rent stabilized. Nothing but a positive experience.
