When you try to call the Residential customer care number sends you to VM and managers are almost always unavailable or break or they just "stepped out". All the positive reviews are from those who have only came in contact with the leasing office, only had a viewing, or are new tenants who have not lived here long term to experience the terrible conditions before leaving a review. If you go to maintenance office to report an issue for repair, the Super's are very condescending, rude, and will pretend like they are writing it down on a RANDOM piece of paper (not even on a computer system) and tell you someone will come and fix it but nobody will ever show up, no matter how many times you go there to report it. They just lie, in order for you to leave their office. The countless times people have had to miss work because they expected maintenance to show up for repairs is ridiculous. Also, the other day, I was standing in front of the maintenance office to report an issue and nobody was in the office. All of a sudden, the Super walked past me, went in the office, and walked back out without even acknowledging me (keep in mind, I had to move out the way for him to even enter the office so he saw me standing right in front). I will say the maintenance guys who have been working here for over 10 years are very nice but the new Super's and the new maintenance guys are horrible. They need to hire more people in maintenance but also those who also have friendly, positive attitudes, and know what they're doing. In addition, Lefrak City has a roach and mice problem, packages are always getting stolen, the stairwells smell like pee, and to be honest, the apartments are slowly falling apart because something always needs to be repaired. Every new tenant on my floor leaves after their 1-year lease ends, because they cannot justify the expensive rent when there are so many shortcomings and no amenities of value. Lefrak City looks good on the outside but besides that, they just provide overpriced project buildings.

While the post-Sandy repairs continue, the place is actually starting to look like someone gives a damn. However, getting the super is still an exercise in patience, but when he or his team shows up, they fix shit and shit seems to stay fixed. The stealers of boxes left in mailrooms still live in the building, so if you're dumb enough to not have your packages rerouted to a UPS/FedEx pickup or to have USPS leave the package at your door instead of in the mailroom, then you're rich enough to replace the shit that WILL be stolen. Say, a pair of headphones. Or filter replacements. Or a corset. And don't expect help to get it back - it's your dumb-ass fault for not rerouting your package, as I've learned. Anyway, life is better than it was and at least repairs are being made more quickly. No mice so far, and since I spray the shit out of my floorboards with pesticides, no roaches, either.

What was so surprising is the amount of so many bad reviews about management and staff in other luxury buildings. I have never thought about that because in four years here in The Alexander we have never experienced anything negative!!! It is why I decided to write this review as they deserve good recognition for a great building which enhances our quality of life. The Alexander building is in great location surrounded with various type of restaurants and groceries. In its complex has Aldi, Costco, IKEA, At home, TJ-Max, Marshall's, Burlington, Bed Bath and Beyond and lots of others. It has s huge parking garage which offer residents a monthly discount. All that including s building is perfectly clean and Well managed. All of the staff Are more than friendly and helpful. They would 'jump' to help on any smallest demand. During this 4 years we had few small not important issues that were solved immediately when I reported them. It happened once I met one of the staff members in the elevator and saw A/C filters which he was changing in the apartments. I asked him if he can change them in my apartment and he came immediately. They clean and wash carpets in halls regularly, recycling room is perfectly clean all the time, gym and community rooms too. We have on the 7th floor outside deck with showers and sunning chairs and BBQ area. All that is in perfect shape and clean. There is also a nice library and children's room with toys for kids. It is more than home to us. What is also very important we feel safe here. When I talk with other tenants they share the same opinion. After 3 months of researching other luxury buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn this one stays No1. Many thanks to our resident building manager Danny F and his staff for truley making the Alexander at Rego Park our home! I highly recommended this luxury building to everyone. Lilana

Avoid renting or staying at this building at all costs!!!…read more You won't get back your security deposit in full amount!!! I regret moving in there without doing my due diligence of researching about the other tenants reviews and experiences! I just moved out a month ago and stayed there only a year because of many bad experiences with management! 1. Staffs are not professional including the executive manager. 2. The handyman has no manner or professionalism at all. He would bang on your door instead of ringing the bell. He won't let you talk but gave you choices this or that instead of trying to understand the situation and the tenant's availability. He is a handyman but he would act lIke's the owner. His behaviors are very rude and disrespectful. He needs to understand that he is getting paid with with the tenant's rent money. Tenants are his indirect bosses! 3. Even if you reported and complained to building manager, resident manager and executive, they won't even flinched and give a shit about it. Why? You're already tied to the lease and they won't let you break the lease, you still have to pay rent until lease is up. So they have nothing to lose. 4. I had issue with the apartment itself and they can't and won't help you with any issue. Said, It would be your responsibility. It's their building and they are the ones who's managing it and understand it's structures. If any issue with apartment, you'll be on your own

The Drake - Under the NYC, FDNY, Department of Buildings require that Grills are at least 15 feet from the building, this is not even 15 inches.

I lived on the 10th floor and walking down the stairs was not a question as I am 8 months pregnant. The doormen are pretty nice besides one who is a complete jerk. The people who live there are so rude always picking an argument. My neighbors were terrible which made me want to leave even sooner. My apartment always smelled like cigarettes because one of them would smoke inside their home while having an accessible balcony. The other neighbor would knock on my wall if my tv was "too loud". Would "shhh" my fiancé & I if we hung out on OUR balcony to talk. Also knocked on my door saying i was laughing too loud. The cherry on top was when I did my laundry in the basement and people would take my wet clothes out of the dryer to put theirs. I'm only rating this building two stars because the location is golden it's close to EVERYTHING!

My husband and I have been active cooperative tenants in this apartment building for 4 years without any landlord complaints or any issues. We pay our rent on time and don't give anyone any issues. I'm currently 40 weeks pregnant, there was an apartment listed on the internet in the same building but bigger on another floor. We acted quickly called the realtor checked out the apartment and submitted all our paperwork we even had a letter of recommendation from our current landlord in the same building. Both landlords approved us and all we needed was approval from the building manager. The building manager spoke to both landlords and told them he wouldn't approve us because I wrote a yelp review on him a year ago based on another horrible experience I had with him on another occasion. We tried to paint our apartment a year ago because it was filthy and he gave me hell for it because he only wanted me to use his contractors so we never painted it and I reviewed my experience that I had with him and then deleted it a month later. Because of that he wouldn't approve us. There was a separate occasion where I was being harassed by one of the security guards in the building and told my husband. Which I still have text messages of the harassment on my phone. My husband called the management office only to be waved off and disrespected by the building manager as usual, they told him to write a hand written letter, and he did so following all the requests made by the management office. We've been very patient and civil with everything we've been going through with the building manager. This morning my Husband went to the building management to speak to them about trying to get approved for the apartment to be disrespected once again, Mr. Chandra Jain waved off my husband telling him he's busy and he can't speak now said to leave his number on a piece of paper and he will get back to him later, acting extremely unprofessional. My husband walked away, after not being contacted at the end of the day my husband proceeded to go back because we needed to know if we should proceed with our move or not. As my husband returned to the management office Mr. Chandra Jain got extremely loud and volatile with him slamming the table with the piece of paper with his number on it saying "I told you I will get back to you at the end of the day" throwing the piece of paper at him. My husband replied saying it is the end of the day you have not gotten back to me please give us an answer, he yelled at my husband saying "YOU WILL NEVER BE APPROVED IN THIS LIFETIME". So after trying several times to speak to him cordially he threatened my husband to call the police on him for "harassing him" without any reasoning and valid terms he's discriminating against us and causing me horrible emotional distress for no reason at 40 weeks pregnant. This is what we've been dealing with, with this building manager. He's a horrible person and has no way of kicking us out of the building because we're not violating any laws and his only way to hurt us is by denying us approval into the apartment we want upstairs. It makes no sense to me because we're still living in the building. This calls for a lawsuit, I've never dealt with such disrespect in my life especially in my current state.

Great front desk staff, but terrible living conditions and predatory corporate billing…read more The on site building staff at Parker Towers, especially the doormen and leasing agents, are fantastic, professional, and courteous every single day. Unfortunately, the corporate office managing the property, Beam Living, completely ruins the community with neglected living conditions and predatory move out practices. During my stay, habitability was a constant problem. I had to deal with persistent marijuana smoke entering directly through the vents into my apartment, along with an ongoing roach infestation. For a building marketed as a luxury residence, corporate showed zero regard for tenant health and basic maintenance. To make matters worse, Beam Living engages in bad faith billing designed to steal security deposits. Before vacating, I asked for exact move out expectations and received written confirmation from management stating: "you would have to patch up the holes done. It does not need to be perfect, but if we don't cover, it can result in 'damage fees'." I followed every instruction precisely: I patched and spackled every wall hole throughout the entire apartment. The apartment, including the balcony, was completely cleared and left broom swept. The refrigerator and kitchen were wiped clean, with only a fresh carton of eggs left behind for the maintenance crew. Despite enduring persistent pests and smoke while living there, corporate manufactured fake cleaning and repair charges once I left to wipe out my deposit. Under New York law, routine turnover and repainting between leases are the landlord's operating expenses, not costs to dump onto departing tenants. Because Beam Living refuses to honor their own written standards and New York tenant laws, I am taking formal legal action to recover my deposit through the New York State Attorney General Consumer Frauds Bureau and Queens Small Claims Court. If you consider renting here, look past the lobby aesthetics, be prepared for unresolved building issues, document every inch of your space with video, and expect to fight corporate in court for your deposit. PS: I've included a screenshot, confirmation email from Management on what needs to be done to ensure security deposit return.
