The apartment we ended up going for was actually unlisted; we were the first ones to see it, which allowed us to apply on the spot. What's more, Taso advocated on our behalf to the landlord for our approval and even got us a discount on the monthly rent! Taso is professional, thorough, and fun. We don't think we'll be moving anytime soon, but we'll certainly be calling Taso again when we do.

Like the other reviewers said he rushes the process and he lied. The basement apartment has a closet with meters. We asked if the meters were active because we don't want people coming into our space repeatedly. He said no they are not active we have nothing to worry about. Two months into living in my apartment I check my security cameras inside. Three men I don't recognize are inside my apartment and I call the police. It turns out it was my landlord with con Edison. My landlord did not ask me for access to my apartment and we had no idea the meters were active. These workers dirtied my carpets threw my belongings around and left the door open to the gas closet. Fast forward to now we had to let in workers again to access the meters and there was a gas leak! He lied to us about the closet to get us to sign some papers and get his check he's despicable. And he also sold me an apartment to a SLUMLORD. My apartment has rats. My apartment flooded and it had a gas leak. I will attach pictures. This man sold me an apartment with RATS AND IS A LIAR!! We found him in Craigslist. You have been warned. GO TO ANYONE ELSE BUT HIM!!! DO NOT TRUST HIM WITH YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! GO ELSEWHERE. He will move you into a slumlords place for a quick buck and lie to your face and take your money.

We were in dire need of a new property manager for our building and boy did we make a huge mistake in hiring Metropolitan Pacific Properties. They were horrible! They were not accountable for any mistakes made on their end such as incorrect monthly financial statements, missed building tax filings, ignoring tenant inquires or issues, and overall a horrible company to work with. If you're looking to screw up your building with state penalties for missed filings, unanswered questions, and just an overall headache feel free to hire MetPac as your property manager. Otherwise do yourself a favor and stay far far far away from this company.

I don't really leave bad reviews, but oh boy. There is not a single review above one star here, and…read morethis review is no outlier. I've lived in MetPac managed properties from my birth, and 20 years of cold water, ironic absences of heat during cold winter days, coupled with administration that lacks professionalism; make this review. The grounds-keep staff are terrific. If you have any qualms and politely bring it up with them, they address it efficiently. Security is also great, definitely has improved within the past year. In contrast, the staff inside the administrative building (21-77, are also are the ones that handle more serious concerns: no heat, hot water, leaks, etcetera) are argumentative and do not attempt to help whatsoever. If you're looking to rent property from a MetPac managed homeowner, do not. If you're a company looking for multi-unit management from them, do not. I would advise everyone I know to avoid MetPac, cut and dry. To avoid any legitimate concern of bias, a quick google search of "The Acropolis" can show numerous news articles and videos of the company and their illegal construction habits (brought to light when Con Edison shut them off, leading to residents not having heat or hot water for months, consequently leading to news organizations covering the story) to further highlight their poor public reception as a company, and what they entail when being associated to you: the potential customer. Until MetPac can have administrative employees that take accountability for the business they represent, or the property in question has homeowners that combine to take action (strength in numbers!) definitely avoid. 0/5 if possible.

Jenny is the best!…read more The most important thing to me in this type of interaction is communication. Of the FIVE Astoria realtors I called, emailed, and filled out forms for, Jenny is the only one who reached out to me. I know the dead of winter isn't the best time to look for a place but... She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. We met the building owner that day. I signed a lease soon after, and she was there helping throughout the entire process! Highly recommended!

I met with Jenny during a recent apartment search, which was in the first week of the month (specifically, we met on the 3rd). I was seeking an apartment for the following month. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.

Best realtor I have ever worked with in NYC…read more Was moving back to New York after living abroad, came with paperwork and were intent on applying to at least 3 places in 2 days. We had found 10 apartments that fit our criteria. We only managed to schedule 2 (most realtors did not reply). One "scheduled" an appointment, and when I text to double-confirm the day before showing they ghosted me. It was a breath of fresh air when we met Carmela. She was prompt and responsive. We applied to the first apartment we saw; it was very nice. However, when we met one of the owners, we decided it maybe wasn't a good fit, they were afraid of pet noise and we have a cat, but we had already given our documents (relevant later). Later that day, when we followed up with Carmela, she understood. She showed us two additional places that day, each getting closer to our ideal space. She even preemptively negotiated the rent down on one place on our behalf and picked us up where we had a tight window to see something. She went above and beyond at every stage. The cherry on top, when we applied to our second and final apartment, she had retrieved our initial application documents (without us having asked her to). She was an advocate for us at every step of the way. I will recommend her to everyone I know. An anecdote about dealing with most NYC realtors - an associate of a realtor we messaged text me out of blue without identifying themselves. When I simply asked their name and agency, they didn't respond. You would think it's a scam, but we found out they were real days later I saw a poster with their face and number outside their agency office. They don't have to give you any shred of common courtesy or respect, and most of them won't. They will just show you a place and collect the thousands of dollars in realtor fees. Carmela and her team were different, it felt like this is how it should be. A person who is an expert on their city, helping you find a place that is home for you.

I'm a current resident…read more The location is great. It's a nice building, modern, good aesthetics, the interior is well taken care of. Nice communal spaces. There are a few things that aren't great about the apartment itself and somethings that can be maddening to deal with as a resident. Regarding the apartment, my real only complaint is that the walls appear to be thin. I can hear my neighbors television, I can hear my neighbor when he sneezes, I will know if they are home or not because I can hear their forks against the plate when they're eating. Another thing that isn't the worst, but also isn't the best, is that I smell pot smoke in the hallway and in my apartment on a regular basis. Biggest issue I have is that the (outside of the) windows are FILTHY and management just completely neglects them, refusing to clean them despite multiple requests and complaints. You can't clean them yourself. The windows were filthy when I moved in a year ago, and I have consistently emailed management to ask when they were going to be cleaned, and every time they were cagey about it, which is really annoying: never giving a straight answer or providing any information. I have found out that the windows have not been cleaned since 3 years ago, right after the building was completed. So, you're paying high rent for a "luxury" building, but you're looking out of windows covered in grime. Another issue, is that management is basically absent (this ties in to the window issue). I've never met anyone who manages the building, or seen them around the building. They also seem unaccommodating - if you have any special requests or asks, in my experience, they won't be accommodated. In the last "luxury" building I lived in, management was more attentive and tried to work with you - in addition they arranged for bagel brunches once a month, and wine get togethers so everyone could meet each other, etc. That doesn't happen in this building. The building advertises over 40,000 square feet of amenity space but then they took away all of the chairs and seat cushions in the outdoor lounging area in the beginning of September - when there was still at least a month and a half of gorgeous weather when residents could have been using the space. There is room for improvement...
