I've lived in the Acropolis for about 4 years now, even when they were previously under another management company. Like the other reviewers, I agree that the old management company was terrible HOWEVER the building recently switched management and things are now DRASTICALLY IMPROVED (thank goodness)! The new management is highly responsive and I no longer have many of the issues others have pointed out. I have never had any mice, bedbugs, or roaches in my unit at 21-77 33rd street. I assume this is because my unit is gut renovated and I'm sure this varies building to building but that's been my experience. The location is great with tons of shops and restaurants. The apt is also conveniently located near the N/W train which makes getting to midtown Manhattan just a short 15-20 min subway ride. Significantly cheaper than living in Manhattan where I used to live and if you have good roommates and a good landlord, there's really nothing negative about living here! read more

I have owned here for over 14 yrs and admittedly it had gotten pretty bad with the old management company (Metropolitan Pacific). They are finally gone and we have a new board in place that is doing an AMAZING job getting the complex on the right track. While I love the apartment itself (layout, lots of light), management behave like slumlords. Mice, cockroaches, no heat or hot water at random points in time, and the only way to elicit a response is to call and harass, which I absolutely hate doing but in this case has proven necessary. The "emergency" contact number goes to voicemail, and they leave insane flyers around when there are repairs - most recently, promising to get hot water back with absolutely no timeline, and the management company's logo on the flyer said "impeccable service". I have filed more complaints with the city on this one complex than I have with anything in my entire life. read more

I've been a tenant at this place for many many years. It's true there has been some stormy weather but the last year has been like night and day to what it used to be. We are so close to the part, restaurants and subway. We have new management, we're getting new boilers, the original plumbing is being updated and security is tightening up. This apartment complex is close in distance to all major transportation and shopping. It's decent and it's in one of the fewer safer areas left in NYC and as far as rent, it's a good value. But it's lousy, as far as some of the addicts, crazy, shady and annoying neighbors. Basically, it's ghetto. The management group is consistently the worst. One has to wonder who has their backs to be getting away with everything wrong that they do. Remember though, it's NYC and an extremely corrupt city, most probably the result of its degenerate socialistic form of government. They "NYC" point at everyone like hypocrites, but have the most to hide, sadly so. In speaking of the building again, it's old management was indicted, but got away with their crimes of embezzlement. The new management sets crazy operational hours similar to our corrupt city cops, but I will excuse cops in this manner. My husband and I bought a 2 bedroom in here in January this year. We bought a totally gut renovated unit that needed no work from the sponsor. We love our unit. Yes, the management company is slow as molasses to respond to you if it's not urgent (and it may take an extra follow up to jog their memory), but along with other reviews that said the same thing about management, we were warned and came in with those expectations. There were no other 2 bedrooms For Sale apartments that even compare to this price point, unless you are searching in deep Brooklyn. In the Acropolis, you're incredibly close to the NW train, great food, great bars, 4-5 grocery stores and they're building a ton of new projects on 31st St (Marshalls, Target and a few other in-the-works commercial projects & residences that are slated to be done in 2020) which should increase demand for people moving into the area. There are 618 units in here. Some neighbors are better than others. Some people care for the property more than others. Some are owners. Some are renters. That's the nature of having a 600+ unit co-op. There was some stuff that went down with ConEd a couple of years ago (that seemed like a complete night mare) that people are still dwelling on in reviews but it hasn't affected anything with us as new owners/residents. read more

My husband and I rented a "totally renovated" new unit at 21-16 35th st and it was the worst NYC apartment experience of my life. As a born and raised Brooklyn-ite, it takes a lot to push me out of a place. Acropolis accomplished that very well. The unit was INFESTED, which the real estate agent and landlord hid very well when we previewed the place. Within the first two weeks of moving in we had two mice which after a week of back and forth between management and the exterminator, we found out was due to poor renovations in which entire HOLES were left. Add in the fact that we had to have exterminations every other week for roaches.. Finally, a unit in the adjacent building went up in flames due to a faulty stove that was neglected to be repaired in a unit. This place is dangerous, unsanitary and quite frankly, predatory. The best neighborhood and bars in the world could never convince me to live here again, and I've met plenty of local astorians in my field who all say the same. -Good Luck. read more

I bought in Acropolis in July '18. So far the place is getting the repairs it needs and looks cleaner. I do hope the building is painted soon. It's fairly quiet ( I'm on 33rd st side towards end) except reg apt noise. During the first month I called maintenance and found Juan helpful and responsive. After exterminator services and upkeep we no longer have a pest problem. Response from the property management co has improved. Since the new board had taken effect the Acropolis is on an upswing. Transportation is around the corner and the neighborhood has everything I need plus it's an easy metro ride to Manhattan. read more

Consistently having issues with getting hot water and management just gives it the run around. They are useless and don't care for the people living in there buildings. Our landlord is great but the management is f*cking terrible and dont give a shit about the inconsistency in the hot water. Proximity to restaurants and public transit don't make up for the almost comical lack of communication from management and landlords. Steinway could be a dozen blocks filled with five star restaurants and it still wouldn't be worth your time or the security deposit you're never getting back. This place is horrible and disgusting. I brought here thinking it was a good investment. Worst decision of my life. There is constantly problems, the coop is in major debt and owes so much money (plus the building is falling apart, so the fees will be increasing by even more over the next 1-5 years). The management is horrible and adds to the dysfunction of the building. Additionally, the building is unsafe (people break in constantly) and the trash piles up, adding to the rat/cockroach problem. The positive reviews must be from the management company, or someone who is just clueless. There are a few things I need to share on Yelp. I'll start with the laundry fail room. There are two laundry rooms, and both are filthy!! There have been several times that I opened a machine and roaches crawled out. It's also smelly! The machines leak water. Pet owners wash their pets bed, blankets whatever and leave the hair in the machine. They don't bother to clean it out. Unfortunately, there are no more laundry rooms. One was closed down for repairs. That has been over a month, maybe 2 months. Absolutely no work has taken place on the first room. The second laundry room, machines fail constantly. Good luck on finding a machine that works. Now, that you found one, lets hope it does not eat up your money. The dryers that do work, don't actually dry your clothes. On April 29, there was a minor fire on the second laundry room. The same day, management had workers repairing the room, until The City of NY put a stop work order. NYC found violations. Moving on. There is a huuuuge bug problem, and a growing rodent population. Try walking in the garden during the summer. See how many bugs you swallow just from breathing air. Last Friday, I almost stepped on a glue mouse trap. Someone flung it out the window into the garden area. The glue trap had two mice still alive. AND! it was witnessed that a medium size rat was scrapping the garbage area for take a guess--GARBAGE. Where are all the cats?? Some person killed them off one by one with poison. The door buzzers do NOT WORK AT ALL. You can't buzz a person in, and the person cannot buzz you to alert you they are downstairs. This has been over a year now. Water pressure sucks. If you need hot water in the summer, don't count on it, if you need cold water in the winter don't count on it. It's either only cold,or only hot. You either burn your ass, or freeze. Before I forget to mention, there are loud guys that smoke pot and drink alcohol in the court yard, and in the outside area. Worst experience of my life. This was my first home in NY and the worst renting experience I've ever had. First we noticed huge roaches, and then found out we had mice. Before long we discovered we had bed bugs. Management did little to help. By that point I was too fed up to stay. B/t work, school, and non stop infestations of some sort this place had me on the verge of a breakdown. There are no pros to moving here. I don't care if it sounds like a decent deal it's not. That building literally needs to be destroyed, it's so run down and no matter how much you clean there is always a layer of dust on things. Seriously, what the heck is up with the dirty hallways?! I wish I would've moved in to a studio in Brooklyn alone upon moving to NY b/c I wasn't thrilled about moving here, should've trusted my gut. Just don't do it. Not until they get their shit together enough to take care of their bedbug problem. The Acropolis Gardens is a fantastic location. I admit. I myself almost moved there twice. The first time was in the first set of towers off of Ditmars. I paid my deposit, then went to clean the apt and found a note from the previous tenant that there was a bedbug problem that never got treated. Upon a conversation with the landlord, it was true. So I didnt move in. Got my money back. A few years later I moved into a completely different tower. I know dumb, right? But Im figuring its a huge complex and I know people that live there bedbug free. This was on the other side. I literally moved in on a friday only to find the baseboards and outlets caulked up. I called the landlord and he confessed that 6 months prior there was a bedbug infestation. Sure enough the next day a bedbug. on. my. daughter's. pillow. Thankfully I got my money back and moved back into my apartment but not before EVERYTHING was fumigated and washed and dryed. It was a nightmare and we lived 6 months being afraid we brought them with us. In short, the problem is the management who wont treat the ENTIRE tower. They are all privately owned. But the management should be extremely aggressive in treating this. If you guys are reading this, bedbugs are a HEALTHCODE VIOLATION and not being treated properly is AGAINST THE LAW and its illegal to not disclose this info. Check on the bedbug registry. They are ALL OVER that registry. Shame, because like I said the location is fab and the courtyards are awesome. read more

Convenience to the subway, the fact that it's dog-friendly, and SOME of the customer service (Sophia is wonderful, that about wraps that up) we got while living in this complex for almost a year and half are the only reason this place comes close to deserving any stars at all. Where to begin...where to begin... Ha. OK so we can start with the fact that the management company was atrocious. We bounced from super to super with no notice, leaving us contacting the wrong one for weeks at a time before ANYONE would pipe up to let us know there was someone else who could assist. One super cool thing was that the doorbell didn't work for the last 6 months we lived there. We were on the 5th floor of a walk up. Anytime a package came to be delivered, it couldn't be delivered. Had to go to the post office EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And we all know how that often ends up, with an MIA package. Anytime a friend or food delivery arrived, we had to walk down and manually let them in because we couldn't buzz them from our apartment. The thing is, we kept letting the management company know it was broken and they kept sending this one bonehead guy who put a whole new system in our unit but literally said it won't work with the old ass system they have in there. And he was right. And he couldn't fix it because he said the management company wasn't willing to pay to fix the whole thing just for one apartment. Super cool. Oh lets talk about the time a resident that shared a courtyard with us went absolutely apeshit on drugs one night in May of 2017 and in his fit of insanely loud rage where he was screaming bloody murder at 4AM in the middle of our quad, proceeded to tackle the sole lamp post which provided the only light and safety in our quad of the complex and also tackled AN ACTUAL TREE. A full grown, thick trunked cherry blossom. And knocked them both to their demise at 4am. Waking up us on the 5th floor. Literally called the cops thinking someone was SHOT and screaming at the top of their lungs for help as they bled out. Oh and the super comforting thing was that I had to leave the house at 6am that same morning and found a puddle of human drool at the base of the INSIDE of our tower. He was able to get his carcass into the "locked" tower and left a puddle of human drool at the base of the stairs. It just so happened we were leaving on a week long vacation the next day and I honestly couldn't wait to get the hell out of there after such a scary situation. LET'S NOT MISS THE FACT that Acropolis didn't replace this safety light for over 3 months. Joke. They acted surprised that we reported it over and over, said they didn't hear a thing about it. It was a warm May night...everyone had their windows open. Everyone saw the broken lamppost that someone threw into the flowerbed IN the courtyard. If no one else thought to clue the company in, maybe this isn't an isolated incident...which makes me more than happy to be the hell out of there. And if other people did report it and Acropolis was BS-ing, I'm not surprised. The roach and mouse infestation was just awful no matter how clean we kept our place. We almost always found roaches once they were dead and belly up on our wood floors. The occasional monster crawling up the walls. But we were assured there was never an issue in the past when we moved in. We may have been idiot, first time NYC-ers, but damn. The mice we could keep under control to some degree if we wanted to find carcasses in any one of the 5 traps we had in the kitchen when they were roaming free. Any issues we reported...like, you know, when we had multiple leaks from the roof into multiple rooms looming over our electronics and stuff...were "addressed" as we informed them, but were never worked on let alone fixed. Ceilings were white when we moved in (could FOR SURE have been paint) and had major brown water marks by the time we moved out. It was a joke. We called on this many times. Ended up not even fully using our space for fear of water damage and electrocution when our electronics were plugged in. Really comforting stuff. I may add to this later. There was just so many things that I now see as almost comical about living here. I literally couldn't wait to get out. Never felt like home. But it was close to the subway and close to more and more cool stuff to do. I'd strongly advise you to look elsewhere. read more

Read a lot of negative reviews, but I personally think this is a great are: close to subways, restaurants, supermarkets and it's only a 15 minute jog to Astoria Park. Its New York City, so don't expect roach-less apartments, but its never unbearable to the point where some Raid or Combat can't solve. My Landlord's pretty cool, always available when I need something fixed or replaced. Overall, its not a castle, but it's not as bad as other people say it is. If I could give this 0 stars I would. This was the WORST living experience in NYC. To begin: the management company is the main problem. They are so unprofessional and never respond to anything you ask them. If it wasn't for the monthly bill they send, which is often incorrect, I'd think they didn't exist. The amount of problems this apartment complex has is so high, I don't know how they are not shut down by the city. When I moved here in the summer, there was no heat or gas turned on due to a work order by the city of NY. Apparently this had been going on for months and months. I immediately discovered we had a SERIOUS roach problem, they came out of our kitchen sink and through the walls and pipes. It was disgusting. The "trash" of this apartment is literally thrown on trash cans and in the street. There is a growing rodent problem. I definitely think i had beg bugs at one point. No matter how much you clean, there will always be dust. The utilities are very far behind and at one point my electricity went out because it was blown from plugging one thing in. As for the grounds themselves, I found them disgusting. Astoria is an expensive and nice area. It's close to the city. THAT IS THE ONLY BENEFIT BUT NOT WORTH IT. I also did not find these apartments overly cheap - I am paying $200 less than what I was paying per month, and i have a beautiful apartment/building/location in Brooklyn. The buzzers did not work. Mail delivery? Forget it. I would never get my mail, or it would be heavily delayed, and forget about any type of package. Since the building has 2 gates (the outside one is never locked, so any passerby can just walk in), and the one to your building specifically has a code, some delivery people cannot get in. There are no elevators, which I get it, NYC, but for those who are elderly this is a major problem. The top floor is very high, with two staircases per floor. I never ventured into the laundry rooms and after reading reviews do not want to. This place had me on the verge of a total mental breakdown. The best thing I ever did was move out. My new place has every amenity & more, an elevator, an in-building laundry room, is always clean and no bug/rodent problems (this building is 200 years old by the way). DO NOT MOVE HERE. read more

I'm just about to complete the end of my 2 year lease in The Acropolis other wise know as The ACRAPolis to people who live here. I lived in the 21-06 C section of this complex. If you are thinking about moving into this building I would advise you to look else where. This building is old, run down and not properly taken care of. We have had extensive problems with heat and hot water. For starters there is NO FUNCTIONING heat in either of the bedrooms. The heat in the living room does work but very poorly. Unless you like heating you apartment with space heaters this is not the place for you. We were also without hot water a lot, an average of 1-2 times a week and that's being generous. our average electric bill in the winter was approx. 150$/month which is even more expensive than the summer using our air conditioners. If you do decide to make this horror your life I would suggest telling you landlord you want them to pay a portion of your electric bill in the winter time since you will be using heaters every day. Best of all is when you try to contact management, it is like pulling teeth for them to advise what is going on with the heating/hot water problems. Once I got my landlord involved and she called management, they surprisingly have no records of any heat or hot water complaints. SHOCKER they are covering their asses saying no one had called. I know this is a lie as I called the office and 311 multiple times to report these issues. I walk my dog and would frequently see other tenants of our building and would ask them about their heat/hot water and they had the same complaints. Poor heating if any, horrible hot water problems and dealing with a management company that doesn't respond. The grounds of this apartment complex are not up kept. Broken glass through out the ground, piles of trash, piles of dog and or cat shit, buzzers and gates that don't function properly, dirty stairwells and entry ways. And the spaces between the buildings is disgusting, garbage every where, I'm not surprised some people have complained about rodent issues. There has also been complaints of bed bugs. We luckily did not experience this and cannot leave this place soon enough. We did however have some roaches here and there. I spoke with real estate agents, some won't even deal with this complex because of such bad reviews. The real-estate agent we spoke with said for us to pay the raised rent of 2000$ is crazy for that building and we could find newer places with heat and hot water that functions.This place is a piece of sheeet, look else where as you will find a better deal. read more

My husband and I bought within the Acropolis almost two years ago, and we have loved it here so far. We did a lot of renovations on our place, which was so easy because the Acropolis management was very flexible with allowing us to do so. We were able to make it exactly what we wanted in an apartment! I see a lot of reviews on here about how "awful" the management is, which I honestly think is reflective of renting from an awful landlord WITHIN the complex, not the complex itself as a whole... our apartment is a clear testimony to the fact that if you maintain your space and keep up with renovating appropriately (we filled some holes when we first moved in for example), this is a great place to own. When we have had a few issues here and there, the management company was very responsive (Dawn is the secretary at the management company, she is very helpful); the super Juan is always around if we need him, and will even answer even a quick question by text! We absolutely love the neighborhood, it is super close to the N/W trains which is convenient for us. We love the courtyard, how well maintained the trees are; it is gorgeous when the trees blossom their pink flowers twice a year :) We feel like we found our diamond in the rough, in being able to own in the neighborhood we love, in exactly the apartment we wanted- where else in NYC can you say that? read more

I lived there for the longest year of my life. Pros: - Great location - No fee apartment - Laundry in the complex - but the exterminator suggested that we shouldn't use it due to the bed bug problem in the building Cons: - BED BUGS - After my first inspection from the exterminator, he said that they were coming from the surrounding apartments. He said that on that day, he had appointments in almost every building in the complex. We scheduled a monthly appointment to treat the apartment so the bed bugs would die if they came through the outlets/floorboards. Which they did. I didn't sleep well for a year. - insane amounts of dust. No matter how much we cleaned, it wouldn't get rid of the dust. I know that is standard in NYC, but I've never seen dust like this in my eight years of living in this city. - roaches. There is an overall problem with roaches in the complex, but I think my neighbors had a particularly bad infestation, which of course, carried over to our place. - minimal security. My boyfriend's car was damaged multiple times (always on the driver's side facing the sidewalk) whenever he parked next to the building. - our buzzer failed to work the entire year we were there, even though they claimed that it would be fixed the first week that we moved in. - dirty stairwells and courtyards. They rarely, if ever, cleaned. - safety. During a "water issue" in the building resulting in no hot water (no notice given), they managed to dig a fairly deep 4x4 hole in the building's entrance, only being covered with a flimsy piece of plywood. Scary. - management. While I know that many units are owned instead of rented, our landlord was ridiculous. After finally moving out, the landlord claimed to have put our security deposit in the mail, but after quite a while of not receiving it, I started calling their office to follow up. Turns out, no check was ever put in the mail. Shocking. After a tremendous amount of back and forth, they deducted $400 from our deposit due to tiny, insignificant damages on the wall. Fine. At that point, I was just ready to be done with this place for good. Only after I uttered the word "litigation" regarding returning our deposit did they actually get their act together. If you are not 100% willing to track their process along the way, don't expect to ever get your deposit back. The long and short is this: the Acropolis is in a great location, but the numerous headaches brought on by poor management and lack of sleep due to a tremendous bed bug problem make any other place in Astoria a better place to live. I owned an apt. here for five years. Pros: it's a good location near the train and some good food. Cons: the building is over 80 years old and is falling apart. Every apt. either has a roach problem or a bedbug problem. The maintenance is over $650 or/month and it all goes to paying off the enormous financial problems they have. The building is rarely cleaned and the "security" is non-existent. The cameras and the locks on all the gates are broken. The hot water would go out twice a month--always on the weekends. It is filthy; the courtyard and garbage areas are horribly maintained. The heat (when it is working) blasts constantly in the winter so you have to open windows. Most owners claim the units are 600+ sq. ft. This is a lie. They are approx. 460 sq. ft. The management is a huge scam: their office is maintained immaculately (paid for by the owners maintenance fees) as an illusion to he the complex is kept. They should be thrown in jail. Banks do not want to give mortgages because they are co-ops and because of the horrible financials. Stay away from this albatross; don't get fooled into buying here as I did. read more

I lived there several years ago, and moved out after 3 months. It's true, there are many different towers, entrances, and the grounds were actually pretty nice back then, however the apartment I lived in was a dump. Our landlord lived in Florida, and we would have to mail our rent there. When I moved in, it was a converted 2 bedroom into a 3 bedroom. The apartment was literally falling apart. The floor boards were loose, and you would watch all of the cockroaches come crawling out between the floor boards. Everyday, I would have to check my bed for bugs. The neighbors had no respect or etiquette. It was extremely loud, and uncleaned. When I called management to take care of the bug situation, I would have to take a day off of work for them to come. However, they usually never showed up. When called, they would say I would need to reschedule for several weeks. The day that I moved out, the entire kitchen cabinet fell off the wall. We discovered, it was barely even attached. It was only attached to the wall using wood glue and some sort of tape. They are constantly advertising on Craigslist. I only see this because I am trying to move back to the Ditmars area. Not worth the money or frustration. read more

Fantastic location, friendly neighbors, beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring! I have owned here for 5+ years and have enjoyed watching property values increase even through the downturn! 20 mins to Manhattan, amazing restaurants (authentic ramen, family style greek and INCREDIBLE bagels!) a nice garden to walk through in the evenings. There is a community here which is missing from many buildings in NYC. Neighbors who say hi and offer a hand when needed. I have been an owner for 10 years. My pros and cons. The Acropolis is a very bit (620?) unit complex. What happens at one end of the block may not happen at the other. What happens in one building (each building has 10 units, so this is a lot of buildings) may not happen in others. Are there bugs. Yes. It is nyc. There are people who culturally/religiously do not believe in killing things. Are there TONS of bugs -no. Is there an exterminator on call. Yes. Are the apartments huge. No. It is NYC. But, they are decent for their price range. Locks and security working . No. The outside heavy gate doors haven't worked in (5?) years. The door buzzers (at the bottom of the stairwells, outside of the fire doors) on my building now work. There was an issue, now fixed. I can hear the person and buzz him up. The video component no longer works. However - I have never felt unsafe here. The neighborhood is very safe day and night. Heat - toooo much. Most of the winter my 5th floor, top floor, apartment is too hot. The windows are open all winter. I can't speak for other units, of course. Mine has heat. I know it is not easy with older buildings (1920?) regulating to everyone's perfect temperature. Hot water. We have had fine water up to about 1 (2?) years ago when our boiler started failing. We had an oily residue come in the apartment when the fix was going on (this was really annoying and responsibility denied/not taken by management). the water was then too hot. A phone call had it fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Now, however, we have not had hot water (well, we have had low trickle warm water after a five min wait) for two months. After the awful east village explosion, our recent boiler fix was inspected and con ed said various things had to be tweaked. Of course they (con ed) are super sensitive right now - but - i would rather have things fixed to a higher standard than not. Next con ed said we had to have new meters. This has added WEEKs to the water situation. It isn't just water - it is GAS. So - if you want to cook, bake on a gas stove you are sol. What else. The people who live in my area are very very very nice. Very mixed, culturally. The courtyard area is always maintained very well. I have never seen a rat (we do have cats all over taking care of things). The train is very close. The neighborhood is clean and safe. The restaurants are plentiful and varied. Is the acropolis itself GREAT no. Is it ok. Absolutely. Is the neighborhood Great. Pretty much! Is the N/Q perfect Nope. BUT as a last stop, you always get a seat. Is the management efficient - not always. I frequently work with them. There is one guy who is really rude all the time - but another who is always really great. Is maintenance perfect. No. But they are friendly and for me - generally come to see my situation right away and i have reasonable response/fix most of the time. Could the stair wells be cleaner - absolutely. Is my apartment falling apart....no more than I would expect for an almost 100 year old apartment (some cracks, some creeks, some calls - to maintenance). Do I want to move - well - I wish I wasn't on the 5thfloor every time I start to climb. BUT on balance: I really like it here and I am willing to work with what is available/people/management to reasonably make things better. This is my 25cents worth. read more

We bought our apartment in the Acropolis Gardens two years ago, when we wanted to find somewhere more affordable to live (we were renting in Williamsburg); we saw the negative reviews of the Acropolis but decided to take the plunge anyways. We are so glad that we did! Our block is 2116 35th Street, and we have had no problems as listed in other reviews- maybe some of these other reviews are in other buildings, or from people who rent from awful landlords? We were able to get the apartment with the space that we wanted, and renovated it easily; the maintenance guy Juan (who we see all the time in the complex, he's very accessible, even just by text) helped us find a great contractor who redid our apartment for a very reasonable price. It's like a whole new place! The courtyard is well kept, dog friendly, and our neighbors are great. The complex is super close to everything we enjoy- the train, the park, a lot of great restaurants and bars, as well as Singlecut Brewery. We love this complex, and how its grown/improved even in the few years we have lived here. read more

I bought a two bedroom apartment in the Acropolis last Summer with my husband and toddler daughter. I too was afraid of this Coop with all the scary reviews. However we are very happy our apartment was renovated before we moved in. We live on the fifth floor and love the views, neighborhood,high ceilings, and privacy. Yes the management can be challenging at times but we are up for the challenge and they have worked with us whenever we have an issue. Let's be honest folks this is the best deal in town. Since we have moved in our apartment has gone up in value very quickly. Many new professionals and families are moving in. Apartments are being renovated and times are changing due to the popularity of Astoria. Keep an open mind and ignore the propaganda. Compare the listings to other apartments in this neighborhood and you will see awesome deals. read more

I was once a coop owner here so here is my two cents. If you are thinking about moving here, do yourself a favor and do a little dd. Just walk around the block and through its courtyyard and perhaps two things will come to your mind 1. it's dirty and 2. the security doors are opened. Talk to the residents and you will hear about bug and maintenance issues. Further because of the security gaps, on numerous occasions when I came home late at night, there were ppl hanging out smoking in my building entry way nook. Please be diligent If you are thinking of buying a coop here. Please take a moment to review its financials and chat with the residents and you may uncover some very alarming facts that may dissuade you from further considering the purchase. For example you may quickly notice outlier ratios in the financials and the mounting fines. Hopefully this would save you some money and heartache in the future... read more

I have lived here for a year and I really have no major complaints about this complex. The apartment is spacious, with amazing lighting (not just for NY apartment but for any apt), heat and electricity has always worked, no bed bugs ever, really quiet neighbors, close to the train and great restaurants/nightlife just around the corner. It seems like all of these negative reviews are from like years ago and the area in general seems to have definitely improved because I am not having any of the issues that have been listed. read more

Great location! Close to trains, restaurants, grocery stores. Nice apartment, clean and reasonably priced. Never have any issues with neighbors, and really convenient that there is laundry on site. read more
