They found me a pretty good apartment, but maintenance hasn't been helpful. My apartment was renovated before I moved in. Unfortunately, the paint job was shoddy, there is hardly any pressure in the kitchen sink, and the shower often does not get hot. The buzzer in the entryway does not work, roof access was chained off (ugly), and there's broken dumbwaiters in the hallway. Every previous landlord I've had has been much more helpful. read more

Ask them, any history of bed bugs. Years ago I rent an apartment with my husband . In the beginning was so roaches in the kitchen cabinet. I never complained I tried to get rid of it. But the bed bugs were a nightmare. So many buildings in Astoria are infected, they can sent an exterminator. But , I think is better burn the whole building and start with new construction. After walking in, my boyfriend and I were given the immediate impression that they didn't want our business. It took about a minute or so before one of the employees noticed we were there. No biggie, but they weren't that busy. We set our budget high for the area because we wanted a nice apartment. The man speaking to us reacted nonchalantly, explaining that apartments in Astoria were under our budget; he was speaking to us as if we were children that knew nothing about the area. Furthermore, he launched into a rant about how we'd have to pay 6 months to a year of rent upfront despite having a guarantor (this was before we'd even viewed any apartments). He then offered to show us a cheap apartment next to the subway. Not what we wanted. Bottom line: VERY sales-y and off putting. Completely unhelpful. Never called us after that (despite exclaiming that they would do so). Prepare to be dicked around if you walk into Page Realty. read more

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS PEOPLE!!! They just don't care about you or your apartment once they have the broker's fee... They seemed nice, until problems started. I am going to keep it simple and make a list: - Bugs and Roaches in the apartment. DISGUSTING. At first they were little and I could handle. With the summer, the big ones arrived. They did not care, even to send the super to do simple extermination. Super would never answer the phone. I keep my apartment clean. I put traps... but it wasn't enough. The building was infected. The note on the wall saying extermination took place every third Friday of the month was a joke, i think. - Cleaning of building: DISGUSTING. One of the roaches somebody killed was sitting on the stairs for months. Floors. Dirty. - Hole in ceiling on top floor. With all sort of things falling from it. Even a xiriga... THEY WOULD NOT FIX NOR CLEAN. I called, went to their office, sent them pictures, told the super. Nothing. Everytime it rained, big mess on the stairs. Not safe, easy to fall down trying to avoid the mess. I have pictures. Hole getting bigger and bigger. The building was nice, and the apartment we rented partly renovated. But it was just the "outside". That is what they do. But they don't take care of important things like roofs etc. It's a real pity, because I loved my apartment very much. But it became a nightmare. I have lived in several old properties in Manhattan. Never seen a bug or had a real problem. They were taken good care of. This Page Realty People just don't have a clue of how to run a business. You just need to see the mess and dirt in their office. Do not trust them AT ALL. Oh one more detail. The free month of cable was a joke too. I was waiting for the sales person that they recommend to get the special offer for 3 WEEKS with NO CABLE. After calling a hundred times, i did it on my own, with no free month. First off let me say the personality of Michael Pagano is one in a million! Always smiling and eager to please. I was a tenant in one of his buildings a little over 2 years ago was 100% satisfied. Not that I needed much in the time that I was there but if I did he was on it immediately. I moved away for 18 months and had recently started my apartment search a little over a month ago and nothing. I saw places that I liked but being in a mostly cash business I had a huge problem getting approved because for the first time EVER everyone was asking for a tax return showing 40 times the rent. I have never had to show that once in my life. Anyway... Michael had his staff take me out and show me a handful of places and I was extremely happy with the location and price and not to mention the place is huge. The process was quick and painless and I have a place to call home next week! I highly recommend using Page Realty... your stress will come to an end. read more

When we moved to New York City, I knew I wanted to live in Astoria. The area had the vibe of a friendly neighborhood while being so close to the city. We walked around the neighborhood and couldn't find a single apartment that we liked. Finally I caved and called Page Realty after I saw the number on the side of a building. I got in touch with Ralph and he showed us a handful of great places that were two bedrooms that perfectly suited what we were looking for. We love the building we chose that is spacious and homey. Completely redone, Ralph was right on point with everything we needed and met those needs effortlessly. We went fill out the paperwork a few days later in the office and met by a group of people who were friendly and supportive just like the neighborhood they represented. If I can give a NEGATIVE 5 star rating, I will do it over and over again. This establishment is by far the worst Real Estate office in Astoria. I needed to obtain my DCHR registrations. This office was recommended to me so I decided to use their services. I had all my paper work in order when I dropped it off to their office. They informed me that the processing time will take 2-3 days. I actually gave them more than the completion time of their "2-3 days" when I followed up with them the following week, their response was "all good, almost done." Again I give them a couple of more days so they complete my paper work. I contact them for a status update, and I am told "by the end of the week." Once again I give them the benefit of the doubt. I call to follow up for the third time only to be told, that my paper work is being all "wrapped up, and it will be done in a few more days", but this time they actually thanked me for being so patient. After 3.5 weeks and 3 unproductive follow up calls later, I receive a call from "Mike the Owner". Mike the Owner proceeds to tell me that he is currently reviewing my paper work. He proceeds to tell me that he needs me come into the office in order to go over things. This coming after almost a month of his employees relaying to me with every follow up call that I made, that my paper work is in motion and everything is "all good, almost done and ready to go." When i expressed my confusion with Mike, regarding this mess that he and his staff have created, his actually response was "What do you want buddy? pick up the papers and do them yourself" The audacity of "Mike the Owner" to give a response like this, made all the sense of why my paper work was handled in this manner. He is the most unprofessional person running an establishment that mirrors him : unprofessional and completely unreliable. I hope that my message deters anyone from using this office ! read more

I know this is long, but do yourself a favor and read it! My gentleman and I found an apartment with Page that was being completely renovated. We had some reservations about signing a lease "as is", so we were told we could pay for the credit check and leave a deposit on the apartment, then sign a lease once construction had progressed enough that we were comfortable. Three weeks later, we were excited and ready to sign. While reviewing the lease for this rent stabilized unit, we noticed two things: one, we were not given the option of a two year lease - one year was already marked off, and two, the section explaining any rent increases since the previous tenant had been left blank. We thought this especially weird because we are aware that landlords can claim a certain percent of improvement costs in the rent, and there clearly was a lot of work being done on the apartment. Michael, the owner of Page Realty, tossed us out of his office to "go look at the apartment" while he filled in the blank section (he had the information on a separate paper that was not presented to us until we asked for it explicitly). When we returned to the office, we were told (by "told" I mean yelled at) that the apartment should really cost much, much more than we were told, and a new lease was being drawn up for us to sign next week. He yelled at us repeatedly that he would make the lease "all LEEEEEEEGAL" (which ummm, hi, if it's not legal, it is by definition ILLEGAL). After this exchange, the realtor that showed us the apartment initially told us that by asking for a completed contract, we were "ANTAGONIZING" this very well established businessman. After much back and forth the following Monday (in which we were told we were to apologize for asking for a legal contract), we were contacted by a "lawyer for the building owner" (Yanni Realty). This "lawyer", told us that there must have been some sort of misunderstanding, Michael did not want to deal with us any longer, but we could come in and sign an adjusted lease. Shortly after, an irate Michael called (from the same telephone number as the "lawyer") and told us we could not have the apartment. It took weeks to get our deposit refunded to us, and only did so after having a lawyer contact the business on our behalf. We were also refunded for our credit check which we had been charged $60 cash for and told we were approved, only to find out on later credit reports that they never ran it at all. read more

I really don't want to go through a broker for renting. I understand if you are buying, but it just seems like a middleman racket for renting. But, it seems that there is no way around it in Astoria. So, we walked into Page, which had at least four apartments that matched our needs advertised on their windows...it smelled like cat pee in the office and after initially being ignored, a receptionist had us fill out a small card. While we were filling out the card, we overheard a broker cussing out someone on the phone, then dramatically hanging up and announcing that person was 'An Idiot!' The receptionist then handed the man sitting in the next desk our card. He then told her, not us ( we were sitting right there) that they had nothing for us. I asked for my information card back and he wanted to keep it on file 'in case anything came in.'. I should have been stronger and said 'well, I don't like how I've been treated, so I actually don't want to work with you. I am the customer here!'. Why on earth wouldn't he greet us in a friendly way and at least start a conversation about what we are looking for? They are fools, because I am an excellent tenant. read more

Extremely disappointing experience! I called to discuss purchaseof a multi unit dwelling in Astoria. The admin told me they had one, what did I want to know. I asked a few questions, she put me on hold to ask a broker and answered less than half the questions. This repeated a couple of times and no option of speaking to a broker. When I said it was disappointing that I couldn't get to speak to a broker, the reply was ' we're busy on Saturdays', end of conversation. I would not be surprised if every positive review on this site was written by the business themselves, and not by a tenant of their properties. They are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. The people they appoint as "super" are entirely unreliable. The worst example: We had a significant emergency - 12 degree weather and the boiler burst, no heat or running water for showers or toilets - and NO NOTIFICATION. When I called Page, I was informed that it is not their job to "predict emergencies" which is of course rational and true. However, I was also informed that pipes burst, cracked through the basement wall, and were leaking into the basement for several days, causing the boiler to explode. Clearly, the building was structurally unsound - and that IS their responsibility. Also, this is 2013, not 1980 - the fact that they never contacted a single tenant to notify us of the emergency, the progress, the status, etc is disgustingly bad and irresponsible business. read more

I highly recommend this family run neighborhood business. I spent a month and a half looking for an apartment in Astoria via Craigs list. While there are some good agents out there, I also had several disappointing and bad experiences. I looked at many, many apartments that were not what I was looking for and a couple that were lost thanks to a crappy agent. I took off a weekday and I hit the streets (I highly recommend this over wasting time on Craigs list). The first place that I walked into was Page Realty. The apartment was renovated when I moved in and has been a dream to live in. I love coming home and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The team at Page helped me put down a deposit, application, and sign all within a week of seeing the apartment. I was in my home in the next few weeks and I never want to leave. I'm not sure why Page Realty has gotten such awful reviews. Perhaps they've really changed their ways since other reviews were left here. Or maybe I'm just living in one of their nicer buildings. I really don't know. Finding an apartment with them was as good of an experience as I can imagine finding an apartment in the city can be. They were very professional and friendly to me, and I've ended up very happy with the apartment they found me. The building is also owned by Page Realty, and it's right around the corner from the subway... Couldn't be happier with the location. The building is old and you can definitely tell, but overall they do a very good job upkeeping it. During the winter I've never had an issue with lack of heat like some other reviewers have-- in fact, the heat is so hot we've had to open windows... Something I've dealt with before in apartment buildings, and it's really no big deal. I'd take too much heat over not enough heat during the winter! Pluming is okay. Its as good as pluming gets in old buildings-- water pressure is a little low and inconsistant at times. You'll have a couple of problems here and there, but it works pretty well. Really-- the last apartment I lived in was exactly the same way. 95% of the time it's no problem. The super is extremely helpful and nice. He speaks very good English, is almost always around to fix something ASAP. He's usually available to fix something the day of or the next day. It's only taken longer if he needs to pick something up to fix or install something for me. Hands down the best super I've ever had. When I first moved in I had an issue where lights would flicker. I called the super, who asked that I call the landlord so he can get an electrician out here ASAP. I called him and literally the next day, someone came to fix the problem. I haven't had an issue with the lighting since. No real bug problems. I've been living here for almost a year, and that's better than most apartments in NYC. Seriously. I think they do a good job of keeping the general areas of the building clean. They've even repainted since I've moved in. The stairwells, ceilings, walls, etc. of the common areas are kept decently. No cracks, no holes, no nothing. The wood floors are beautiful. My guests always comment saying the apartment is so nice! The ceilings are very high and overall the place looks fantastic. There are only a couple of negative things I can think of, and all together I think they warrant the rating going down from a 5 to a 4. None of them are really that big of a deal. The touch-ups they did to the place are a little cheap. The paint is latex paint. The color is nice, but you can tell it's cheap stuff. Luckily the super has a lot of it around, so touch ups are no problem. The tiling in the bathroom and kitchen are the same, and it's a little cheap. Nothing awful though. The appliances are old. They're in ok condition and clean, but probably need to be replaced pretty soon. The landlord seems pretty responsive to fixing and replacing things, so I don't think this is going to be a problem. The lobby is a little unattractive. Its kept clean-- I see the super almost every weekend cleaning and tidying things up-- but I think its one of the least attractive areas of the building. Oh well. Really not a big deal. So that's my 100% honest take on Page Realty. Great company, got a solid apartment I'm very happy with. I plan on staying here for as long as I can. I really can't complain about much, and it sucks that other people have had bad experiences with the management company. I haven't. read more

I seriously could not ask for better realtors or landlords. We have rented from them for 3 years and never had a problem, and will keep doing so for as long as we want to live in Queens. They didn't hike up our rent when renewing the yearly lease - which I've heard tons of horror stories about from friends in otehr parts of the city- and they seriously could since the apts are gorgeous and in a great area. Kind people who will treat you well as a tenant. Maybe once or twice it took a couple days to get a hold of our Super to fix something small, but that's honestly perfectly reasonable (and not even really in their purview). I've lived in a page buildng for a few years and it has been terrible. Like the previous poster said, we had a leak and it was not fixed. We did not have heat for almost a week once in the dead of winter. There was a home invasion in my building and my neighbors were held up a gun point. They did not fix our front door (which does not lock) or tell the other tenant that there was a serious incident. My walls are cracking from water damage. I have black mold in my bathroom. They were great through the rental process but it has been 1000% down hilll since I signed my least. Oh, and once I told them I would report them to the city because of our broken front door and they threatened to sue me. read more

We had limited time to find a place that fits our budget but also accommodates our little Boston Terrier. We were already in Astoria to meet with a realtor who ended up flaking on us after promising 5-6 apts in our budget and dog friendly (the temptation to slam him is great, but i will not, yet...). Desperate, we just walked into Page's office and said "here's what we need, here's what we got, can you help us?". Not fifteen minutes later they were showing us what would become our new home. Michael and Ralph are truly professional, friendly, accommoddating and trust worthy individuals who helped us and made the entire process so easily manageable. I've had nightmares experiences in the past with the whole application process once you've even decided you want a certain place, but there was none of that here. We have found our dream apartment thanks to Mihaela and Page Realty. After having worked with multiple brokers, who brought us to apartments that were "good enough", my boyfriend and I went to Page. Mihaela showed us two amazing apartments, both of which we liked a lot. All through the approval and lease signing process, she was incredibly responsive and helpful. I never waited more than an hour to get a response to my texts and she answered all of my questions patiently and completely. These people are utter bloodsucking parasites, and incredibly rude and condescending to boot. I found an apartment on Streeteasy, and the broker, Anthony Vaccaro, would often just ignore emails when I was trying to set up a viewing. Once I saw an apartment and said I was interested he kept trying to play me off against someone else who was supposedly interested, and then when I filled out the application, kept demanding documents (for example, tax statements) and doubted the authenticity of paystubs and generally acted like a complete schmuck. They did not provide answers to very basic questions and generally were arrogant and aloof throughout. Stay away! read more

Page Realty is the best! I cannot say enough good things about them. I walked in without an appointment and met Vincent. I told him exactly what I was looking for, and he told me to give him half an hour to find apartments which matched my description. About 15-20 minutes later, he called me back and patiently showed me several apartments that all fit the criteria I gave him. From beginning to end, he was friendly, helpful, and never had that "rushed" attitude that so many brokers have. I was most impressed with his candor. It's common to feel like brokers are in it for their own gain, and he was genuinely upfront about everything and never made it seem like he was 'pulling one over on me.' He was punctual, professional, organized, and always crystal clear from the beginning if he wanted to show me an apartment outside of my price range, outside of the neighborhood I was looking at, etc. In fact, it was evident he had my personal interests at heart when he would show me something I wasn't originally looking for, because he listened to what I wanted and why, and took the time to think outside the box to find something that I would like. I was just moving from abroad, and not only did he engage in conversation about it, relating to his own experience, he also understood that I was in the process of wiring over the money from my account and was very understanding/empathetic about delays I was facing with the international wire. I was significantly stressed out about how long it was taking, but he never added any pressure. I dealt with 5 or 6 brokers during the process, and there was a HUGE difference in the way I was treated at Page Realty (one broker actually got out of the car she was driving me in to scream at the lady behind her who was honking her horn, but I digress). They really stepped up their game and stood out from the others. In the end, I wound up with the perfect apartment (and a great deal on my cable to boot) and am so happy I went through them. They provide an outstanding service (thank you in particular, Vincent!), and I will never use anyone but them in the future. read more

I lived in a Page Realty managed building in Astoria for several years and they are absolute sleaziest management company I've ever experienced. To get things fixed i would have to call again and again and when they did "fix" stuff it would always be the cheapest and easiest way possible. For example, it took them forever to repair my stove and after it kept breaking they replaced it with an dirty, used stove that didn't work well either. Michael would promise things all the time (a cleaning service before I moved in, screens for the windows, cutting back bushes where there were rats living, fixing a leak in my bathroom, etc.) and never come through.I would go for long periods without heat too and they'd be super unhelpful when I would call. The thing that really did me in though was when my building got bedbugs and they refused to hire an exterminator, they sent a handy man to spray some stuff that he had bought a Home Depot, and if anyone knows about bedbugs that's not the way to get rid of them! After over two years in one of their buildings it was apparent that they cared very little about their tenants and the buildings that they manage. read more

I lived in one of their apartments on 34th street back in 2009-2012 and it was a nightmare. We had no heat and hot water on daily basis and nobody cared. Whenever we complained we got humiliated, yelled at, and they made us fell like it was our fault. Further, the superintendent was extremely lazy not capable of doing anything.
