What a great training session with Britta! From the initial email she was extremely thorough with her communication. She is extremely detailed in the information she gathers to get a precise description of what is transpiring in the home. She came prepared with a personalized book for our family. We read through the information, so my husband, and I could understand. She left a step-by-step guidelines for us and a plan of attack to integrate all of our cats. She will do follow up visits and genuinely cares about the welfare of the cats. We are extremely pleased with her and would recommend her to anybody who is looking to understand cats and how their minds work. She made lots of recommendations and gave us plenty to work with to have a peaceful coexistence in our home.

I booked Britta when I reached a point of desperation after adopting a young cat and attempting to integrate her into my home with a resident cat, Frida. I didn't know what to expect when I booked Britta, but I trusted that her knowledge and experience would be the magic touch that would solve the issues I was experiencing. Britta came to my home, made observations, educated me, and tasked me with changes I needed to make to ensure my cats were mentally stimulated and happy. I had been basing my knowledge of cats on my experience with Frida, not realizing that my new cat's needs were so much different. Even the first simple change of adding a tall cat tree improved my life in that I could sleep through the whole night simply because my new cat, Carmen, was now entertained on her new tree. Having Britta visit your home is much like going to therapy in that it is not the therapy alone that makes things better but rather the work you do after gaining insights in therapy. I have done the work and made many of the changes Britta recommended. To my amazement, there have been changes in my cats' behavior, and they are slowly beginning to cohabitate peacefully. For example, Carmen is doing less pouncing and less ambushing of Frida when she uses her litter box. It's almost like Carmen is now too entertained to be bothered by Frida's movements. Also, they have been passing each other with less fuss. And the past couple of days, I have noticed they do nose bumps, and Frida is not hissing. Working with cats requires a lot of patience, so there are still some improvements to be made. But thanks to Britta's advice and suggestions, I know what to expect and that I'm on the right track.

An outing in the park! Who knew we could just sit and enjoy nature calmly!

We adopted our precious pup Poppy from Alma Rescue and having never had a puppy of my own (our last rescue was over 1 year old) I was completely lost and stressed on how to handle her. I took to Yelp and starting going through all of the trainers I could find and sent out messages, interviewed, and even met with a few of them. Honestly none of them felt "right" or left me feeling comfortable with their methods - that and the prices left me discouraged. I came across Britta on Yelp and then I realized that the rescue had put one of her cards in my adoption packet - oh boy do I wish I had just started with her in the first place! She is amazing - Poppy is a Mexico rescue and has trust issues along with a fear of strangers (even though every one we meet means well she won't let anyone pet her). Due to this It took awhile for Poppy to let Britta actually work with her one-on-one, but we were still able to accomplish SO much through her expert explanations and working with her through me. She is so sweet and patient - I don't know she does it! She's done nothing but give us useful explanations and information and amazing suggestions as she thinks of things that can help us out. Utilizing clicker training (so fun!), settle on a mat/magic carpet, and amazing treat mixes to motivate Poppy we've been able to teach her so much! Although Poppy is still a work in progress (and a puppy - read: annoying puppy energy!) we have so many great tools to distract and entertain her away from the behaviors that are unwanted. She really takes the time to get to know her clients (both the furry and human type) to figure out the best methods and scenarios to help you achieve your goals. We completed the initial 6 sessions and then signed up for more knowing that there was still so much we wanted to work on together. Training is supposed to be fun (who knew?) and is actually an amazing bonding experience when you have the right (friendly, force-free, and positive) methods on hand. I now know how to handle situations that I previously would have avoided because I wasn't confident or sure how to handle them. I beyond highly recommend Britta if you need help training your furry companion to build a lifetime bond and have a long happy life together. Thanks Britta!

Today my cats all live together peacefully. This was impossible before Britta helped me! My cats were not getting along and had to be separated all the time. Britta helped me understand their behaviors and work with each of them individually and together. Now they all live together just fine now, no more fighting! Highly recommend Britta if you need help with any of your pet's issues. She's the best!

Britta has been SUCH a blessing to me and my horses and our relationships. I had been on the lookout for guidance and support with R+ training and was so happy to have found her! I have a 15hh palomino gelding who has a history of trauma and abuse and I was really struggling with aggressive and reactive behaviors from him, to the point that I was afraid of him at times. We have made huge strides not only in training behaviors, but he has become more relaxed, and more trusting of me in general. I know we are on the right path thanks to Britta. I also have a very young miniature mule that I recently adopted and he had very minimal exposure to people and is fearful of just about everyone and everything. Well needless to say that with Britta's help he follows me around like a puppy now and I am so pleased with the progress he's made!! Britta really took the time to explain how the training works and what will be most effective, and there was never a point where we got stumped in the training she always knew exactly what we needed to do. She made sure to give me the tools i needed to be successful in training when I didn't have her there, but always made herself available when i had any questions in between sessions. It really shows she cares about me and my horses living trusting, happy lives together. Her experience with so many species definitely translates through. I was feeling lost and stuck in my training and relationships with these two boys and now I know we would not be where we are today without Britta! Give her a call you won't regret it!!!

    I mean, he's so cute!

Our experience with Britta was wonderful. We were feeling a bit defeated with our 9 month old rescue. After just a couple of sessions, we were hopeful that all would be okay. She is all about the positive, no punishment, no shame or pain. In our 9 sessions, a few in our home, several out and about, we leaned how to distract our big puppy away from unwanted behavior to positive behavior. We learned how to read his body language. We learned how to help him. Best tip was teaching him the word, "Cookie"! Now, even when really engaged in unwanted behavior, like barking at the neighbors when they slam their doors, we will just say, "Stephen, cookie!" and he disengages and comes with us for a snack. Britta isn't about training your dog to be an obedient dog that will walk right beside you and do all you tell it to. She's about helping you have a family member with four legs that can just be a happy dog, taking walks, sniffing as they go. Our goals changed once we started with Britta and I'm happy they did. We don't need a "perfectly" behaved dog, we just need a perfectly happy dog.

After Frankie wasn't quite ready for daycare because she needed more positive socialization with other puppies, Paw Commons recommended Kristen's puppy social sessions. It turned out to be exactly what she needed. Like many rescue puppies, we don't know what Frankie's early life was like. Watching her gradually come out of her shell over the past several weeks has been incredibly rewarding. Kristen creates a safe, structured environment where puppies build confidence, learn appropriate social skills, enjoy enrichment activities and simply get to be puppies. Her years of experience are evident in the way she understands puppy behavior and thoughtfully guides each session. Seeing Frankie's confidence grow week after week has brought us so much joy. She now looks forward to Saturdays, and so do we. I especially recommend Puppy Social hour for rescue puppies. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, patient facilitator who truly understands puppy development, Kristen is exceptional. Thank you for giving Frankie such a positive start.

NEW UPDATE PER KARLY'S REPLY:…read more To clarify a few things: the meet and greet fee was not communicated to me at booking, and the fact that it was waived due to "confusion at pickup" speaks for itself. Transparency means the total cost is clear upfront, not discovered at checkout. Regarding outreach, one person called and one person emailed. The email from Karly was not an attempt to resolve the situation but rather an argument defending your pricing practices. That is not the same as making things right. No actual remedy was ever offered. Asking what would make it right without putting anything on the table is not a resolution. A gesture like a partial or full refund or a complimentary future stay would have gone a long way. Most concerning was the bath being performed after I explicitly declined it. That is not a communication issue, that is a matter of respecting a customer's wishes regarding their pet. I see from other reviews that pricing surprises are a recurring concern. I hope this feedback is taken seriously rather than attributed to customers not reading thoroughly enough. I also want to note that reading through their response, the pattern is clear: every concern I raised was met with an explanation of why I was wrong or hadn't read carefully enough. That is not accountability. The only thing they genuinely owned was the bath, and even that was buried at the end after multiple paragraphs defending themselves. A business that truly takes responsibility doesn't spend most of its response telling the customer they should have known better. -------------------------- I want to share my experience so other pet owners know what to expect before booking. When I called to make a Memorial Weekend reservation for my puppy, I was given a total price and told the first night would be free. At no point was I informed about a mandatory daily insurance fee ($5-$6/day). I only discovered it while signing paperwork at drop-off. When I called to raise this concern, Michael told me it is not their job to disclose additional charges over the phone - that it is meant to be mentioned at drop-off. So by their own admission, they intentionally withhold fee information until you are already there signing paperwork with your dog in tow. When I followed up via email, Karly shifted the explanation, saying the fee is listed on their website under "add-ons", a label that implies optional, not mandatory. At pickup, they also attempted to charge an undisclosed meet-and-greet fee. They waived it, but it was yet another surprise charge. Most frustratingly, I explicitly declined a bath since my puppy had just been groomed. They bathed her anyway, and I had to take her home wet. California's SB 478 Honest Pricing Law exists for exactly this reason. Required fees must be disclosed upfront, not revealed at drop-off when you are least likely to walk away. The facility seemed fine, but the pattern of hidden fees, contradictory explanations, and disregarded instructions means I will not be returning. To Paw Commons management: before attempting to negate this review, please know I have email receipts documenting everything stated here. A good business responds to legitimate feedback with accountability and an apology, not by attacking the reviewer. UPDATE: After posting my review, I was contacted by Ben (manager/owner). He did apologize, which I appreciated, but the call was otherwise unproductive -- no real remedy was offered, just justifications for how they run their business. He defended burying mandatory fees under the "Add Ons" section by saying they "assume" customers read through the entire site, and that having two insurance coverage options makes it too complicated to list fees upfront. That's not a valid excuse. There are plenty of ways to present two options clearly while still showing customers what they'll actually owe per night. Additionally, a meet and greet fee was charged that is nowhere on their website and was never mentioned at check-in. Surprise fees should not be how customers find out what they owe. An apology without a willingness to fix these issues doesn't change my experience.

He says his passion is helping people and their dogs, and I have no doubt about that. A month after separating from my partner and moving out to my own place, my leash aggressive, two year-old cane corso, Zeke, lunged at another dog in my apartment complex and took me with him. Fortunately, aside from a few cuts and bruises I sustained, everyone was OK. But the anxiety and emotional trauma that was left behind made me avoid taking Zeke out for walks all together and when I did my hands would start shaking. Thinking that I would be able to do it in my own, I watched hours and hours of dog training videos and even tried using an E collar, none of it helped. Not only were things stressful outside of the house, but inside of it too. My 14 year-old cocker spaniel and poodle mix, Lexi, is very reactive towards Zeke. Because her senses are not what they used to be. She has even mistaken me for Zeke and has snapped at me. The thought of me potentially losing my apartment, having to give up Zeke, and the fear that Lexi may accidentally bite one of my children caused even more stress on top of what I was already going through from the separation, so I knew I needed to get professional help. After just one phone call with Justin I already felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. We have only been working together for two weeks and have already seen improvement, not only with Zeke's responsiveness to corrections while on walks but with my confidence in leading my pups to a calm and happy life. Justin really set me up for success by giving me tools, demo videos, and tips - making me confident in my ability to correct Zeke's leash reactivity. Walks with Zeke are so much more calm for us both! So grateful for what Justin does and how he does it. He is so responsive and genuine, really making us a team with the same goals!
