Kristen's Puppy Social hour on Saturdays has been one of the best investments we've made for our rescue puppy, Frankie. After Frankie wasn't quite ready for daycare because she needed more positive socialization with other puppies, Paw Commons recommended Kristen's puppy social sessions. It turned out to be exactly what she needed. Like many rescue puppies, we don't know what Frankie's early life was like. Watching her gradually come out of her shell over the past several weeks has been incredibly rewarding. Kristen creates a safe, structured environment where puppies build confidence, learn appropriate social skills, enjoy enrichment activities and simply get to be puppies. Her years of experience are evident in the way she understands puppy behavior and thoughtfully guides each session. Seeing Frankie's confidence grow week after week has brought us so much joy. NEW UPDATE PER KARLY'S REPLY: To clarify a few things: the meet and greet fee was not communicated to me at booking, and the fact that it was waived due to "confusion at pickup" speaks for itself. Transparency means the total cost is clear upfront, not discovered at checkout. Regarding outreach, one person called and one person emailed. The email from Karly was not an attempt to resolve the situation but rather an argument defending your pricing practices. That is not the same as making things right. No actual remedy was ever offered. Asking what would make it right without putting anything on the table is not a resolution. A gesture like a partial or full refund or a complimentary future stay would have gone a long way. Most concerning was the bath being performed after I explicitly declined it. That is not a communication issue, that is a matter of respecting a customer's wishes regarding their pet. I see from other reviews that pricing surprises are a recurring concern. I hope this feedback is taken seriously rather than attributed to customers not reading thoroughly enough. I also want to note that reading through their response, the pattern is clear: every concern I raised was met with an explanation of why I was wrong or hadn't read carefully enough. That is not accountability. The only thing they genuinely owned was the bath, and even that was buried at the end after multiple paragraphs defending themselves. A business that truly takes responsibility doesn't spend most of its response telling the customer they should have known better. -------------------------- I want to share my experience so other pet owners know what to expect before booking. When I called to make a Memorial Weekend reservation for my puppy, I was given a total price and told the first night would be free. At no point was I informed about a mandatory daily insurance fee ($5-$6/day). I only discovered it while signing paperwork at drop-off. When I called to raise this concern, Michael told me it is not their job to disclose additional charges over the phone - that it is meant to be mentioned at drop-off. So by their own admission, they intentionally withhold fee information until you are already there signing paperwork with your dog in tow. When I followed up via email, Karly shifted the explanation, saying the fee is listed on their website under "add-ons", a label that implies optional, not mandatory. At pickup, they also attempted to charge an undisclosed meet-and-greet fee. They waived it, but it was yet another surprise charge. Most frustratingly, I explicitly declined a bath since my puppy had just been groomed. They bathed her anyway, and I had to take her home wet. California's SB 478 Honest Pricing Law exists for exactly this reason. Required fees must be disclosed upfront, not revealed at drop-off when you are least likely to walk away. The facility seemed fine, but the pattern of hidden fees, contradictory explanations, and disregarded instructions means I will not be returning. To Paw Commons management: before attempting to negate this review, please know I have email receipts documenting everything stated here. A good business responds to legitimate feedback with accountability and an apology, not by attacking the reviewer. UPDATE: After posting my review, I was contacted by Ben (manager/owner). He did apologize, which I appreciated, but the call was otherwise unproductive -- no real remedy was offered, just justifications for how they run their business. He defended burying mandatory fees under the "Add Ons" section by saying they "assume" customers read through the entire site, and that having two insurance coverage options makes it too complicated to list fees upfront. That's not a valid excuse. There are plenty of ways to present two options clearly while still showing customers what they'll actually owe per night. Additionally, a meet and greet fee was charged that is nowhere on their website and was never mentioned at check-in. Surprise fees should not be how customers find out what they owe. An apology without a willingness to fix these issues doesn't change my experience. read more

We left our poodle as a trial run in doggie day care. Our little prince has extreme separation anxiety and has never been alone. The staff were amazing giving him extra cuddles and assurance! We appreciated being able to call and get updates, which lessened our separation anxiety. We faced a toxic and abusive situation with unprofessional, immature and inappropriate management after discussing our dog's traumatic experience. Took my two dogs for a single day while my wife and I were out of town. They told us because we were new they needed to do a 4 hour review. They did work with us due to our conflicting schedules which was great. However, their "review" isn't as transparent as you would hope. They proceeded to tell me that one of my dogs was not compatible with the other dogs and therefore would need to pay extra to have him away from the rest of the dogs. When I asked for some sort of explanation, their responses were vague and when I questioned that there was a dog that look near identical on their webcam, they said they were for sure it was my dog. Even though on their webcam i would see my dog away from the rest of the dogs. When i asked if it would be possible to try another day since i feel that their type of review doesn't seem like a firm way to decide on how dogs should be cared for they said no. Please be aware. Take your dogs to Animal Commons. They are way more appealing and to this day i have not heard anything about either of my dogs not playing well with others. read more

Brought my dog in for his usual grooming. He's a goldendoodle and i have been bring him here for years. They always have given him great care. Close shave with hair left on head and tail. (Basic doodle cut). This time I pick my dog up and his is completely bald. No hair at all. On top of this she has cut both his ears and they are bleeding. When I call the manager, Alicia and asked why I didn't get a call to tell me thwy were doing something so extreme she said she didn't know and I should take my dog to the vet for his ears My poor baby is still having pain. I am rewriting my review that I left last week. I boarded my two frenchies over Easter weekend. There was a lack of communication and a large discrepancy on my final billing. I left the review because the few staff members I spoke to disregarded my claim that I was over billed. A Paw Commons staff member contacted me and admitted that they made a mistake. They immediately refunded me the money that was overcharged. They also offered me a complimentary boarding for my pups for the error that was made. Because Paw Commons was willing to take responsibility and make it right. I feel that it was the right thing to change my review to a positive experience. My pups were happy at pick up. My fur baby enjoys her Daycare visits. The staff is the best...they get to know you when you drop off and pick up. I've been taking my sweet Stella here for daycare regularly over the past few months and she absolutely loves it! Elisha and the entire team are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I was able to drop my elder Golden off with just a days notice and while it was short notice, they were very thorough with his health records, etc. The groomer is a master with dogs who are not fond of having their fur/nails clipped. My dog was so pretty when I picked him up and very happy. They sent me a report card on how he was doing and I checked the webcam as well. I live in Oceanside and have boarded my dog here 5-6 times. Yesterday I came to pick up my dog at the time we scheduled with the front desk the day before (10am). Apparently we were let in by mistake, and the staff told us that we couldn't pick up our dog until noon because they weren't open for pickup and "the system wouldn't allow them to check the dog out." After telling them that we scheduled the pickup time with another staff member the day before and that we lived 25 mins away in Oceanside, they still wouldn't let us take our dog. It was a huge inconvenience to drive home and come back 2 hours later. Why not just give us our dog and figure out the admin later on their side?! What if someone had an emergency and needed to pick up their dog sooner than noon? I won't be boarding my dog again at this location, or any Paw Commons for that matter. read more

Brought our pup here for his first day, and met Taylor who did the temperament test. She was super nice got on the floor with the pup, and answered all our questions so that we felt super comfortable. She sent us a text reportcard with photos as well as gave us a call halfway through letting us know how he was doing and who he played with.
