With all the terrible reviews about Brightview I don't even know why I'm bothering to leave another bad review. But I'm so upset I feel I should! We have finally made a tiny bit of headway with our front landscape in our HOA community and had rose bushes in our front and they cut them to NOTHING!!! Roses can go until December especially in So Cal!! Seriously! Why??? They over cut everything and then don't cut out dead plants when needed. BV your guys need to be trained. BV's service is horrible. Even when you meet with management and tell them they still don't do anything. And they say you need to replace irrigation that doesn't need replacing. 'Not good', is an understatement for my review of this business. Recently after escaping a forced Labor/slavery situation, in the Springs, I stopped at Memorial Park early one morning to reorganize the contents of my 2008 Chevy HHR. Shortly after my arrival, working from the hatch door in the back of my car, I noticed 2 Brightview Landscaping employees who were clearly STALLING, not doing any work whatsoever, for at least 30 mins. Rather, almost the entire time, they acted like CREEPS! And this is no exaggeration! I've never, in my 51 years of life, been made to feel so unbelievably UNCOMFORTABLE with the lingering, loitering, constant staring at me, it was freaking weird! This occurred during daylight hours, early morning, nothing weird it was clearly visible, what I was doing, and was outside of my car the entire time, not being CREEPY whatsoever! This continued, in spite of repeated requests to stop oggling me and my car, to keep their distance, and to mind their own business! I tell you, I was even fearful for a time that they would grab me for human trafficking or something similarly sinister! All kidding aside, it was past creepy, I was so concerned that I made sure I took pictures of their vehicle - That's when they started to stop encroaching in my space and do their landscaping jobs! NOt SECURITY, NOT POLICE, NOT ANYTHING, NOT ANYONE, but landscape crew, that is IT. LADIES, please use this as an awareness post - If you feel weird, uncomfortable, or fearful, of ANY SITUATION, ANYWHERE, AT ANYTIME, don't ignore your gut feeling or intuition, stay safe and aware of your surroundings, and especially the people you don't know, whether that are Gardner's, landscapers, plumbers, real estate agents, Whoever, you get the idea. Very poor and noticed decrease in quality since brighview landscaping contracted with our neighborhood. The grass is now 50% weeds and unevenly cut. Everything is dirty. This was all terms of the contract as well weeding, cleaning etc. read more

In short, Brightview failed to build the landscape plans it contracted to build; failed to provide the 90-day maintenance services specified in the Agreement's plans; and failed to correct the errors and omissions following notice of the deficiencies and problems. Our landscape architect's plans provided for installation of 18 valves and approximately 116 sprinler heads, plus more than 100 emitters. Brightview later charged us for an additional valve and about 20 more sprinkler heads that they said were needed. However, the final "as‐built" drawings prepared by Brightview showed installation of only 13 of 19 valves (or 68% of them) and only 42 of the 68 perimeter sprinkler heads, resulting in insufficient coverage of the grass. The irrigation controller apparently hadn't been ordered initially and arrived about 45 days following the trees and grass installation. Lastly, Brightview's maintenance crew was unaware and failed to follow‐up with the 90‐day maintenance period called for in the plans. Brightview had more than 100 days to remedy the improper installation and maintenance work required under the Agreement. Brightview failed to take steps to rectify its incomplete installation. As a result, we had no alternative but to hire another company and incur the additional expenses to correct Brightview's failures. read more

Our HOA just onboarded BrightView to maintain and service our community about 3-months ago. They continue to blow and leave grass and leaves on our driveway and don't cleanup after their maintenance. Attached pictures are examples of what they leave behind - and we cleanup ourselves EVERY SINGLE time. So here is an update on this business and sadly, it's worse than my initial review. So many complaints regarding the quality of work in our community have gone by without any clear improvement in service, that it's basically useless to try and get them to accept that their work is poor. Attention to quality is non-existent and willingness to improve is clearly not a priority. They just don't get it, or just don't care. It's hard to understand why our community contracted with them for mid-5 figure sums, and this is what our money gets us. Incredible and sad! Several of our community residents have resorted to mowing their properties themselves, while still paying for their services as part of our monthly association dues because the sporadic frequency and lack of quality of work. Our contract is up next year and that can't come soon enough! I believe they are a franchise operation so I am already researching getting in touch with their franchise parent company because local franchise communication attempts have basically fallen on deaf ears and have been met with a ban placed on calling them directly and to route all concerns through our property management provider who is as unresponsive as this service provider. They service the condo complex I live in, and they do the bare minimum, and the HOA and BOD do not hold them accountable. When they are all onsite, they mow the small grass play lot, trim the landscaping, but they do not pick up trash. As you can see from the attached picture, they lack skills in irrigation line repair, as well. Sadly, there are several broken lines repair like this. read more

A big shout out to our neighborhood landscaping company--BrightView. Deseree Boyd and Eric Flores showed up with their wonderful landscape crew yesterday. They were to add "color" to our front yards. Instead of the usual vinca or dianthus--they brought in mid size bushes to fill vacant spots in front yards. They replaced "bushes" where the freeze had killed our rosemary--that was hiding the unsightly utility poles in the front yard. As they went through our subdivision -- Ventana -- in Santa Rita Ranch--they planted bushes in the backyards for some. Deseree and her team were so accommodating. I have lived in my Agoura home for 12 years.. it had beautiful landscape When I bought my home it was the landscaping thar truely caught my eye. 3 Beautiful full-grown hydrangeas, ground cover with purple flowers, green grass, and beautifully manicured trees lawns and bushes. I have been here since 2008, and part of a HOA w 52 townhomes. Five years ago, Brightview became the landscaping company to take care of all the landscaping needs of our neighborhood.. BAD CHOICE !!!!. Three full grown hydrangeas have been taken out, one huge agapanthus with beautiful purple flowers, and the groundcover cut so low it died..The two trees in my yard have NEVER been trimmed professionally ( just trip the bottom leaves) and I have paid my own gardeners to take trim back from the roof line.. The sprinklers are always breaking and the ground is as hard as rocks. ( i.e Dead hydrangea, Ground cover and grass) On a scale from 1 to 10, i give a 2, and that's just because ONE guy actually listened to me and made some changes to the best of his ability. I understand that part of this is the HOA responsibility however I would assume for what they are probably getting paid that they should have policy and procedure about fixing and clearing with out killing and making things pretty. There's an effort in my neighborhood to get rid of them but for anybody who is looking for a commercial or residential company, DO NOT HIRE All they do is Mow blow and butcher.... and sometimes don't even remove the debris. this company is bad news.!!! Brightview landscaping does the landscaping for the city of West Hollywood Kings Rd park. I am so disheartened in writing this because the gentleman who do the park are lovely guys. However, yesterday (6/11) one of Brightview landscaping contractor trucks reversed all the way back into my car parked on the street outside my building. I have direct window access and am able to check my car whether I want to or not, periodically, given my view and you can imagine my surprise to see Brightviews truck pulled all the way back, it looked as though it was touching my car and I prayed that the ball tow hitch in the back of the truck, hadn't hit my front bumper. Where the truck was parked was on a red and is the only car that parked in front of me through out the day. Unfortunately for me, my dash cam had not been in the parked setting so it did not pick the accident up but as you can see in the photo, the round ball of their tow hitch not only dinged me but the paint is completely scraped off and I will not be able to "buff" it out. With insurance premiums being what they are in Los Angeles these days, I am unable to file with my insurance and I literally just got my front bumper replaced, out of pocket, about three months ago and it was a brand new bumper... I actually am so disgusted at this level of negligence when there was plenty of parking and not only that but WHY, when you have contractor parking and are able to park ANYWHERE including the redlines AND THE PARK DRIVEWAY, why pull all the way back and hit someones car?!?! They have No customer service. Unfortunately they were hired by our HOA we are stuck with them. They have left gates open but did not even mow the yard. The common areas in the community look totally unkept They have torn up lawns while mowing in the rain, damaged sides of homes, damaged gates etc... I had to purchase my own mower and edger in order to do my backyard. I don't feel comfortable having them come in my backyard after they left my gate wide open. Please do yourself a favor never hire them. Have to let y'all know that the supposed owner asked to contact them to prov more information. I did and have never heard back from them. This company is upsetting I reached out to the Riverview location months ago about my broken decor their vendors broke of mines and plants. One minute my plants are growing so Beautifully in my yard the next minute these vendors who speak no English are spaying chemicals in my yard after I asked them not to and my plants are now destroyed even my toparies are dead I wish they'd not spray people's plants and hire more people who speak English and return calls. read more

I just moved into Sun River, on Monday 10/9/23. I swept the patio and set down a rug, table and chairs and a BBQ on the patio. We sat out there every morning and evening. On Fridays 10/13/23 only 4 days later I went to sit out there and it had been literally vandalized. My rug was tossed and had debri under and on it, my seat cushions were covered in debris, my BBQ was cover with debris.... Pine needles, pine cones, dirt and rocks were everywhere, I was so exhausted from moving I wanted to cry .. Don't use this company they have no respect for your personal property. And all the do is blow the debris up under the bushes, agents the wall and onto the neighbors yard. When I find out who vandalized my property I'm filing a police report against him. read more

They contract with HOA companies, because of a cheap price, and then do super subpar work for the homeowners, the homeowners can't reach out to this company to complain because they send you back to your HOA and the HOA can't do anything because this terrible company has a contract with the HOA to, I think, do horrible work. They use machinery that is way too big for the lawns and it just makes it look like they smash down the grass and then leave huge piles of grass all over your lawn. They blow grass all over your patio and all over your mulch. Basically, after this company is done mowing it looks worse than if they would not have mowed. They do the landscaping for our neighborhood and it looks absolutely terrible. Excuses instead of correction.

We manage HOA's and Brightview was working on a project for one of them and it was originally going well so we asked for a proposal for another HOA to upgrade all the irrigation. We always get 3 bids and both properties chose Brightview. The properties quickly turned into disasters. our 3 week project turned into almost 10 months. Still having issues with both of them over a year later. Do not even contact them for a proposal. They do not follow through, they use substandard parts, there is little communication, very difficult to get any one to respond, and we just found out that they jimmy-rigged the backflow they replaced but since it's been over a year, they refuse to do anything about it. To go to court would be too expensive. They should not be in business. read more

Our HOA recently contracted with Brightview for both common and private elements. In eight (8) weeks of "service" our back area has been visited only once, and that was after I filed a written complaint. A Manager from Brightview visited our community yesterday. His joke about weeds being ready for transplant fell on unappreciative ears. My first interaction with a Brightview crew member ended with him giving me a business card for HIS landscaping company. I'm guessing he knew I'd be dissatisfied. He was correct. read more

I live in a very large HOA near the Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada. We got rid of our former landscape company because they did not do as the Board requested and, unfortunately, we hired BrightView. BrightView is the absolute worst, NO exageration. We hired them for both landscaping and snow removal; they are horrible at both. Landscaping: They mow and trim the lawns and do nothing else. NOTHING. They will not even cut off the lower dead branches of pine trees much less prune the schrubs or bushes. They will not even rake the decomposed granite (DG) that surrounds the plants. They charged more than our prior landscaper and do much less: they mow the laws and trim the lawns, period. They do not even mow the lawns correctly: they mow when the lawns are totally wet (because they have overwatered them) and then power their large mowers throught the wet, muddy sod which rips up he grass. As to snow removal, they do just as poorly. They rip out the concrete curbs or leave divots on almost ever curb. The concrete fixes are truly expensive! As to snow melt, they over-apply it which causes spalling to the concrete and kills the plants by the the dozens. They do not apply it as recommended which has injured owners' pets. Here is their method of operation: they will promise you the moon and when asked to do something they SAY that they will do it but never will, even if asked again. Honest to goodness that is what they do and it is outright fraud and breech of contract. (In fact, our Board is considering suing them for such). Phillip is their ring leader and Brian is his head "yes man." They are a national firm but even requests to their corporate headquaters go unanswered. In short, do NOT hire this group: they talk a great show but will do nothing for you even if you repeatedly ask. read more

Terrible service for our resort in Webster, FL. They didn't show up for weeks at a time, and when they did it was a roll of the dice if they mowed, edged, trimmed, or none of the above. When I did see them mow, they were going at such high speeds there was no way they could miss sprinkler heads or do a good job. Our properties look terrible; looking forward to getting a new service in to catch up with the work BrightView left undone. read more

Really deserves 0 rating. My HOA in Elk Grove CA recently selected BrightView Landscaping for the community. I had planted seven years ago 2 cypress evergreens ($50 each at the time) to flank the garage door. I wanted my house to standout amongst the cheap privet shrubs the majority of the homes used for landscaping. Today the lead gardener came and proceed to turn what we're beautidyl conical shaped cypress into rectangular boxes. I asked him how he had improved the esthetics of my house. We use them for our HOA. They do a terrible job. At the start there were a lot of issues and they came out and said it was due to transition, lack of employees, etc. Now 2 years later the lawns look terrible (dead spots, weed), no mulch, bushes are misshapen, dead trees, etc. Someone posted a video from their Ring doorbell showing one of the guys damaging the car in the drive with the lawnmower, looking at it, then walking away. I have started paying the landscaper I use (the HOA only does the front yards) to fix their issues just so the house keeps up the curb appeal. No idea why the HOA doesn't replace them. I will say they have the cleanest trucks of any landscaping company I have ever seen. read more

My review is for the crews that did all the street trees trimming April 15-24 in Washington Park neighborhood between W Iowa and W Olive in Sunnyvale. They did a fabulous job, even tackling the very large Cork Oaks that were so heavy/overgrown (city should never have planted these in the narrow street meridian!). I love my Australian Willow that must be 40-50 yrs old; dead branches and weight gone. Friends and neighbors here I have spoken with are just as thrilled. Thank you BV street crews! read more

They use leaf blowers on wet lawns. Thet also deliberately kill nestling birds by taking nests they can reach and throwing them to the ground. 5 gas blowers running right now - they blow back and forth, but never actually remove any debris. They mow wet grass. In case you miss the point, everything they do on a commercial property is so they need to come back more often. Contract is up soon and will never renew. High school kids would be a better, more professional option. read more

My HOA hired Brightview to maintain our community landscaping. They were a complete and total disaster - if I could give them a zero star rating, I would. We fired them after their one-year contract was up. Our community looks horrible. Where we once had lawns, we now have moss. They killed off many of our trees and plants because they don't seem to understand the role water plays in landscaping. The worst part was the lying and dishonesty. They would tell us that work had been completed when it hadn't been touched. We are now in a position of having to spend a large amount of money just to restore our landscaping to something close to where it was before they started. Save your money and frustration, and don't even think about hiring these guys. read more
