They don't have a lot of good brands in there, Rayban and Tomis the only professional optical brand they carry. I bought a pair of Korean glasses which I later found out was waaaay over priced. They told me it's a famous Korean BRAND and charged me $198. But, later I couldn't find any information about the so called brand... When I asked them about this, they told me it's a famous Korean FACTORY... Well, I'm not someone who cares so much for a named brand, but I do understand, a brand name and design add a lot of money on the price tag. And with something that came straight out of a factory, $198 is definitely waaaay over priced. It is more expensive then well known brands like warby Parker, Mikita or Moscot. Than have good low price set and petty good at the higher price range as well. When i went in i was able get my eye test and one better glass frame for 230 or so with uv filter anti relective and scratch resistant.the sale person very helpful and at most i liker save 20-30 buck online to buy it read more

I had bad experience from this dishonest optical company, will not come back again. I have VSP and looking for an in-network optical company, so I can use my in-network benefit for a pair of glasses. When I am on the phone and this guy told me they are in-network. So I stopped by the store to pick the frame and lenses that I want. The total amount I paid out of my pocket for a pair of glasses was over $500. Then the guy told me "out of network benefit was better than in-network benefit because I will get more reimbursement and I believed in him. Few weeks later, I received a $70 check from VSP, the amount is way less than a frame covered by (in-network). VSP benefits for within network. Frame coverage (copay is $0) $ 140 +$20 (for brand frame)=$160 (20% off any amount over your allowance) read more

Before I went to this optical store, I didn't hope I can get what I want, but this place surprises me. When I came in the store, I saw lots of good brands, because there were too much choices, I didn't know how to start. The store owner is very helpful and patient, after listening what I want, the owner helped me picked several pairs of glasses, I tried them on。(actually, I am kind of sorry to the owner because I used for a long time to try them, but the owner is very patient and warm, I really appreciate it.）From those pairs of glasses, I got what I really want. I called them about insurance coverage, they told me it's covered, but when I got there, they said is outside the network and make me prepaid for it, the glasses cost $200, super expensive!!! Also, they gave me a bad quality case. They said they run out of the regular cases, I have to wait for it. I went back 3 months later for the case, they still claim NO STOCK. What a cheater!!! After resisting wearing glasses for so long, and, let's face it, being a little vain, I wasn't a good candidate for progressives despite the practical and economic considerations. Trying to wrap my head around an expanding universe of frames and lenses in every shape and price range after being so resistant for so long was overwhelming. I'd gone to all the usual suspect shops in Old Town Pasadena, where parking is always a challenge, as is finding a knowledgeable and caring employee working on an hourly wage, without coming close to making a purchase. One day I was driving down Colorado Boulevard, stopped at a light, when I spied Brighter Optical and its spacious, free parking lot. I'd never heard of the shop, but thought why not, I might as well give it a shot. I was warmly greeted by owner Raymond Yu himself. I immediately felt comfortable in his small but well-stocked shop. Then I was immersed in a lengthy consultation with someone who had unlimited patience for my long list of questions, who spoke in soothing tones that put me even more at ease. It was so much better talking to an owner with a lifetime of experience and the ability to negotiate multiple purchases than an hourly employee with no real stake in the outcome. Not only did Raymond know everything there was to know about frames and lenses, he knew how to break it all down into easily digestible concepts that I could grasp even though English is just one of the languages he speaks fluently. Better yet, he filtered all that knowledge into personalized recommendations which rang so true I had no qualms about pulling the trigger on the sale. When the dust settled, Brighter Optical had a customer for life, while I came away with four pairs of flattering glasses for every purpose that exceeded the most fervent hope I had for my budget--and a new friend.

I was visiting the city and unfortunately lost my glasses in the hotel nearby. I came here because I remember passing by this place after getting The Alley milk tea. I needed the glasses quick and Tom helped me get my new Zeiss glasses ready in an hour! The Zeiss glasses price is much lower than China by the way.
