If you don't find what you are looking for here, be sure to grab someone to help you because they may be able to point to your desired item in one of their catalogs. Also, the sales staff can help find lighting options for a wide range of budgets from high-end to wallet-friendly. It can get busy in here on the weekends so if you are needing some hands on help I recommend coming right when they open; otherwise, you could find yourself waiting a long time for a sales person to become available. These guys are pretty cool. They offer Keurig coffee and snacks like pretzels to get you to light shop longer. You got my attention. Now just have a big pointy sign to the bathrooms. I was amazed by all the chandeliers and huge light fixtures. You need a really big room or lobby to hang them. There are several options for light bulbs and they even stock the old fashioned decorative ones (cheaper at Home Depot). One day I'm going to buy a water fountain for my living room - they also have those. A good light makes all the difference and it should make a statement. read more

I took an old lamp to be rewired and was told it needed an intermediate base socket. I was then told I had to order it myself which I did. I returned with the socket and dropped off the lamp for repair. I was told it could take up to six weeks. After 12 weeks I did not receive a message about the status so I Visited the store to find out what was going on. After some time they were able to locate the lamp I had dropped off months ago and there was absolutely no work done. Instead I waited while the repair man came out to tell me that he couldn't do the repair. Absolutely incompetent! And the sales person who was managing the front desk could not understand why I was upset. Total idiots! NI will never return to this establishment again read more

The sales staff is incredibly helpful, answering all of your lighting questions, and if you come in and describe what you need, they'll give you the perfect light. The week of 4th of July I came in to purchased some lamps. As I waited in line a customer try to butt in line and try to go in the back causing havoc. The salesperson (Kim) explained to the customer that she be right with her after she is done with the customers. The customer con't to scream on the top of her lungs that she has her son in the car and she can not wait... Kim con't to be professional even after the customer son came in causing havoc as well. Once I got to the counter Bonnie & Clyde (Mon &Son) finally left and Kim went above & beyond and went outside to even try to assist these crazy customer.. Kim is the best salesperson that I'd ever interact with from this store.. She is very knowledge of the products in the store and is helpful of assisting me in my vision of designing my new home!! read more

Interesting selection but the service left much to be desired. I visited looking for 2 table lamps, something contemporary, modern style made up of crystal and nickel and showed the salesman Joe pictures I took of a single Ralph Lauren contemporary crystal Table lamp I found at home goods. I didn't know the style number or name but had the picture and I just wanted to order the lamp. He said oh I know exactly what you're thinking of... but those are really expensive. Told him that's what I wanted--but I really needed two. I asked can I look a book of RL lighting but they could not find the book. I was given another book of outtermost lamp styles but nothing to mark my choices and no answers. I waited over an hour. Joe told me if I'm really interested I can go to their website and look for styles. In that time, I watched the staff assist several other customers-some who even arrived after me. Finally Joe provided a printout of an Daniella crystal lamp and told me I can call him back if I really want it. Ok-evidently Joe wasn't listening to a word I said or even looked at the picture of the modern, contemporary crystal lamp I produced. But he was very focused on how expensive the lamp was because he said he had loved it himself but it was too expensive. The Daniella lamp he printed out was ugly-very traditional old fashioned princess-y styled and girl-y. Nothing like my picture so he wasn't listening. Ultimately, I observed other customers receive patient and thorough service, get their questions answered and watched as the salespeople asked questions and showed pictures or displays to figure out what the customer was thinking of. I did not receive that level of service--all I got was a huge waste of my time, excuses that a customer must have taken their only RL Catalog do maybe I should look at the Ralph Lauren website (don't you have a computer Annapolis lighting?), a suggestion that I check out the store website and call to place an order (as I'm actually sitting inside the store) and several comments on how expensive those lights can be. (Seriously, if I drive specifically to your store specifically to buy and I've already researched the product-I know what I want-just help me get it ordered) I received Really poor service at the store.... but I'm sure all of the other customers who had questions about LED Pendant lights for their kitchen islands were satisfied and will come back after they've finished measuring. As for me....well I found my two RL Brookings 29" (RL3920CG-WP) lamps at Lighting Commerce. It's a NY store that I found while trying to navigate the ANNAPOLIS Lighting website from another customer that mentioned where they found their lamp. Lighting Commerce was very responsive through their website, answered my questions on the phone and finalized my order within 20 minutes. read more

I have patronized this business many times over the years. We've purchased lighting and ceiling fans. Even though I don't live in Annapolis any more, I drove out there to have some 4 ft tall vintage Christmas candles rewired. I took them in six weeks ago to get an estimate. Six. Weeks. Ago. I was told it would be a couple of days because "he" was off for the weekend. I called a week later and was told that "he is on vacation this week". Then another week went by and "he" was still on vacation. I've never gotten a single call from them. It's now New Year's Eve and I still don't know what's going on. I've stopped by there twice and they weren't open on a weekday. They had already stopped opening on Saturdays, which is crazy. But now they're not open on some weekdays. There is no message on their answering message, on their Facebook page, or their website when they aren't open. You have to drive there and read a note left on the door. I am worried at this point that I might not be able to retrieve our 90-year-old porch Christmas candles. This used to be a reliable, conscientious business. I don't know what has happened to them. Stopped at this mall to eat at Jalapeños, which was great saw the lighting store and we decided to take a look. We had no intention of making a purchase. However, the salesperson Kim was fantastic, full of information about the fans we were interested in gave us a catalog to look through as we knew we wanted Casablanca products. We had them for 30 years in our other home and never had any problem. So we walked out having purchased two fans. I think Kim has been GREAT. I see that on Saturdays they are super-super busy, with customers waiting for a free salesperson to help them. But I have had wonderful customer service from Kim. She finds exactly the fixture I'm looking for, even shows me similar things from the many catalogs they have there, and gives me a really good deal. I've been here three times at the suggestion of my electrician. Each time I go, I am sorry that I did. I've got to preface this review by saying that yes, I am fussy about what I choose to put in my house, and I like fancy things. I have renovated before and done some of my own electrical work. I shop for home decor and fixtures in different cities when I have the chance. I have a degree in astrophysics and another one in photography, so I know a couple of things about lighting, electricity and signal transmission. I am probably not their average customer, I admit, and as I said, I am fussy, but I admit it and I try to be nice about it. I still need some help and I still would like to take the time to make an informed purchase. I prefer to trust salespeople if they know what they are doing - I learn stuff and I get a better solution. Unfortunately, none of that has happened for me at Annapolis Lighting. The Good (and why they get two stars from me instead of one): --They have a large selection of lighting and ceiling fans, probably the largest in the Annapolis area, and the quality is okay. It's not what you would find in the best shops in a larger city, but it's good, and the inventory works well with the styles of homes in the area. --Displays for different kinds of lighting help with decision making. --The repair and parts center seems to have most of what you need and they have a nice selection of lampshades. I must have missed the coffee and snacks referenced by Yelper Nina. The Bad: --Some staff attitude is off the charts with self-importance. I have not spoken to every person there, but the three I have spoken to so far seem to think that they are right about everything, know all there is to know (even when they are wrong, they stick to it), and are affronted if you correct them or suggest that they might not have it quite right. --If you ask for something outside their floor selection, it's apparently offensive and annoying. --They are *always* super busy. Even on a Tuesday morning, they were busy, let alone a Saturday afternoon. When I was there last weekend, there must have been 20 people standing around the desk waiting for service and all the employees were hopping busy. There is usually a long wait to speak with anyone. Problem is, when you do get someone to help you, you get the attitude mentioned above. Last time I was there, I went to buy some recessed lighting. I hadn't bought recessed lighting since 2010 and I knew a few things had changed. Now there are more LED fixtures available, and I hoped maybe they'd been coming out with more color temperature choices. After waiting around for about 30 or 40 minutes, I finally got someone's attention but he was helping someone else. I said that I needed to talk to someone about the recessed lighting and it might take a few minutes since I was concerned about color temperature and fussy about it. He said "well, you've got the warm color at 2700K and daylight at 3000". I said "No - it's not 3000" (it's 5000, for the record, feel free to Google) and he was offended, looked at me like I was a idiot and in a condescending tone said he was certain it was. I shrugged, said "hmm - perhaps I ought to wait until someone's free." and he was further insulted. I made what graceful exit I could and left. I mean, hey, what do I know? I only work in rocket science. Maybe because I am a middle aged woman you think I'm uneducated? If you want to talk down to me, I guess that's your business decision, but I'm not going to give you my money after that. Other visits went just as badly. The first time, I went for a bathroom vent fan that was better looking than the standard on the market and asked if they had anything like that. The woman who "helped" me seemed too busy and annoyed and said it was unlikely I'd find anything. I did find something, online and elsewhere. Same with the ceiling fixture I needed for the same bathroom. I also shopped this fixture at Fergusons, but they were super nice and seemed to understand what I was looking for, even though they didn't have something to fit the bill. Maybe when you're the only game in town, you start believing that you don't have to question your own thinking, your stock, or your attitude. I don't know. It's upsetting because as I said, they have a good selection, and I would have happily bought my recessed lighting there if only someone could have taken the time to really help me or even be concerned about selling me what I wanted. There are some ceiling fans there I'd like to know more about but I don't want to go back because they are so consistently unavailable and full of attitude. read more

Do not take fixtures to Annapolis Lighting to be repaired. They butchered my 1960's MCM pendant light that needed simple rewiring, permanently gluing a "Nautical" pendant holder to it and then wanting me to pay more $$ to fix it. The repair was super expensive and customer service non existent. Very disappointed with my experience and will not return. read more

I've been hunting for a modern fan recently - been to Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. - Annapolis Lighting also did not really have what I wanted in their show room. But, when I told the very friendly and helpful salesperson what I was looking for - she pulled out several catalogs and spent the time until we found what I was looking for- ordered it and I picked up today - a week later. Went there looking for a touch lamp. They explained that what was needed was a plug-in adapter which they no longer stocked. We went next door to Home Depot and bought one, took it back to the store, purchased the lamp we wanted. They tried it out on the lamp to make sure it worked. Thank you Joseph S. and the lady behind the desk. These people were so kind and helpful. Even if you don't purchase anything you'll walk out with a smile on your face. I would rate the store and choices of lighting fixtures much higher than the customer service. I bought a chandelier, and consulted with the salesperson regarding what type/wattage bulb I should use. The advice he gave was incorrect and I will need to return the bulbs. The chandelier I chose and purchased was removed from the ceiling and packaged for me. However, one of the glass sconces was not included so I had to make another trip to the store to pick it up. No big deal on the inconvenience, but my experience with an extremely rude woman named Kim prompted this review. She was condescending and curt even as I explained someone from the store called that day to inform me that the sconce would be ready and waiting. My negative review is more reflective of the horrid customer service I received, than the actual lighting selection. Perhaps the store owners should provide more training on customer service. Horrible customer service. I ordered a light fixture from the Annapolis store on May 2, 2015. Upon placing the order I was informed it would be delivered to the store in two weeks. Three weeks later I call back to find out it has been backordered until late June. Fine, I'll roll with it. At the end of June I am told the fixture would be backordered until sometime in August, at which point I decide to cancel the order. When the credit did not appear in a reasonable amount of time, the Annapolis store told me I had to call the billing department. Twice over a months time I spoke with a representative there who assured me it would be taken care of. Again, no credit appears so I call today, August 24, and another gentleman tells me nothing has been initiated so I have to call the Annapolis store to follow-up. So I call the person who sold the fixture and she assures me I was credited the charged amount on July 8; I tell her, however, that none of my credit card statements reflects a credit. After some investigating, she tells me they have not received the credit on the light fixture and, therefore, I have not been credited. I cancelled the order because of terrible customer service, and my interactions with everyone involved merely confirms that point. read more

I had a bad experience with this store. I ordered two bathroom lights and paid for them. I got home and was showing my daughter the picture of the lights on the internet and they were 30% less expensive on the web site. I called the store and expressed this and the person was going to "look into this for me". Anyway, they cancelled my order and did not even call me back. I found this out by calling the store later to check on my order and was told my order was cancelled. They did refund the amount I paid for the lights but only after I requested it. They not only canceled my order without my request or telling me but they held up my bathroom remodel project over a week since I had to order the lights through another vendor. read more

Horrible customer service. I did have a good interaction initially with salesperson about a light repair, but then was referred to the "designer" Linda for my questions about which recessed lighting and placement would work in my bath. She called me back, but when I tried to explain why I wanted an appointment, that I was referred by my electrician, etc. She was very snobby-- did not offer a consultation and said that "appointments were reserved for customers who were intending to purchase at Annapolis". I explained that I was paying for a lighting repair or redo, shopping for mirrors, recessed lights, etc. She still didn't offer an appt. and insinuated that my electrician was sending people there to "shop products", but buy elsewhere! She was going to call him and have a "conversation" with him. Based on this interaction and that I got no help at all or even an offer of an appt. I will never purchase from Annapolis. Going elsewhere tomorrow to spend my hard earned money. read more
