An entire, booming industry centered around decorative, dust-collecting stuff you can purchase so that your home looks like it was ripped from the pages of the Pottery Barn catalog and rivals any space on HGTV. And I mean that in the best way possible! Admittedly, I was kinda hoping that the old hh gregg would become a roller skating rink but I won't complain about another spot in Annapolis to shop for discounted homey stuff. HomeSense is owned by the TJX Companies, it started in Canada and it is purportedly nicer than HomeGoods. But even knowing that going in, I wasn't really sure what to expect. For some reason, I was visualizing the super voluminous size of an "At Home" store but HomeSense is pretty normal sized - lots of inventory but not overwhelming. However, I will say that the Annapolis size is considerably larger than the Columbia location. The Patch (an online local news outlet) noted that Cosmopolitan described HomeSense like "HomeGoods on Steriods" but I didn't feel that way. It had more of some things and less, or none, of other things. What surprised me about HomeSense is how much overlap there is with HomeGoods, which is just a few steps away, also located in Annapolis Plaza. Unlike HomeGoods, HomeSense carries more large pieces of furniture, has more rugs, has hard wired chandeliers and does not carry linens except throw pillows. Regarding the rugs, they have a ton of them at this location. If you need a couch, or a set of easy chairs or a grouping of dining chairs, I think there are some really decent finds here. I saw a chadelier that I liked but it was still around $600 so perhaps it is higher end than HomeGoods. Both HomeGoods and HomeSense have home decor, kitchen items, gift wrap and bags, framed art, mirrors and lamps. HomeSense has a "General Store" section that kinda sucked me in but it was really just organizational stuff and cleaning stuff. I think it's weird that the checkout is mid-store rather than near the door. I bought a big piece of art and it felt odd to carry it such a distance before getting to the exit. I must say, I don't think I ever recall seeing the parking lot at Annapolis Plaza so full!

It was barely used and was in excellent condition, but for some odd reason the cushion was sinking. I figured, if I got it reupholstered to the color of my choice and had the cushion replaced, it would be good as new. I took to my handy dandy Yelp app and did a search and Mill End popped up. I'm familiar with the shop, since a family member worked there years ago, but I had no clue they did this type of work. I gave them a call and was told to bring in a picture to evaluate the chair because they didn't want me to be without my chair for a long time. Well, I thought bringing in the chair itself would be easier, since I wasn't in a hurry for it. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable staff member who gushed about how beautiful the chair was. She did an evaluation of what would be needed to repair and reupholster it and then showed me the fabrics that were available in the color I selected. They have a large variety of fabrics on-sight in the store, but they do have options that can be ordered. The one I selected was on-sight. We agreed upon the estimated price, I filled out some paperwork and I was out the door. It was literally that quick and simple. Since they have a pretty extensive client list waiting for their projects before me, my estimated date for the chair to be completed was about 2 months or so. To my surprise, I was called about a month later informing me that my chair was ready. I arrived and was extremely pleased with my brand new chair. The workmanship was beautifully done and the cushion they replaced was perfectly placed. They did such a phenomenal job, my parents wanted their chair back. Lol! Not on my watch! Yes, Mill End is a bit pricey, but so worth it! They're truly professionals. I'm planning to get my dinning room chairs reupholstered in the near future, so I made sure to get an estimate while I was there. I'll absolutely be back in the near future.

If you've been avoiding Country Curtains to curtail any country décor in your home, I welcome you to take a gander through the beautiful Annapolis showroom. Although many of their styles are country, you will find plenty of basic solids and some items with modern flair. No matter your style, you will get quality curtains here at a fair price. In addition to the curtains displayed, you can also get semi-custom curtains (ex. modifying a production curtain to add grommets) and custom curtains (whatever you can dream). But Country Curtains is more than just curtains; they also have lots of home décor including from pillows, throw blankets, rugs, Christmas ornaments. Despite the store being partitioned by faux windows, the staff is great about walking through the nooks and crannies of the store and seeing who needs help. The staff can hook you up with swatches and might even have what you are looking for in stock in the back room. What I like most about their product is the quality of the product. The drapes are always true to size so you don't have to worry about an 84" curtain being too short for the 84" rod. Also, I believe all of their drapes are lined and in some cases you have a choice of just a cotton lining or a blackout lining. If you find yourself chilly in the winter, you could even consider their insulating drapes. Finally, I'd like to note that I think the pricing here is fair. Semi-custom drapes here were less expensive than off-the-self drapes from Pottery Barn that were on sale.

We paid in full for a custom vanity in late August after being assured that our project would be prioritized and completed quickly. Over the next several months, we repeatedly requested the progress updates and photos we were told we would receive. Instead, we were given multiple estimated completion dates that came and went without any product, updates, or supporting information. By mid-November--after more than two months of delays and asking for realistic timelines so we could coordinate with other contractors--we were informed that the business would not complete the project. The owner cancelled our order outright and issued a full refund. While we do appreciate that the refund was processed promptly, the cancellation caused a significant setback to our bathroom renovation, especially after we had already structured our broader project timeline around the commitments made earlier. We made a deliberate effort to support a local Annapolis business, but our experience was disappointing and disruptive. Customers considering custom work here should be aware of the repeated delays, lack of communication, and ultimate cancellation we encountered. This review reflects our direct experience and the impact it had on our project and schedule.

The art here ranges from super subtle, traditional and classic to zany, wild and fun. I enjoyed all of it! Even if you aren't shopping for something on your walls, there is plenty of other great stuff here for the home, for yourself and for gifts. Also, this store offers a little snapshot into the cultural icons of Annapolis and the surrounding area - USNA, sailing, steamed crabs alongside National Bohemian beer, oysters, blue herons, anchors, etc. The Annapolis Mall location doesn't have the charm of the downtown Annapolis store but parking certainly is easier! Park near Nordstrom or Pottery Barn for the shortest walk to this upscale store located in J. Crew's former space.
