It's ridiculous that this opened right next to a Home Goods and a Marshalls since they're all owned by the same people, but this location is awesome! It has pretty much the same stuff Home Goods has, but it's a much nicer and bigger layout. We usually start at HomeSense now before going over to HomeSense because it's a nicer store and while I'm not sure it has more selection, it is in a bigger space so it feels like it. We have regularly walked from each one of these stores to the other and we see a lot of duplicate products, but if you only have time for one make it HomeSense! read more

Bottom Line: A nice store for discounted furniture, home furnishings and home decor but lots of overlap with HomeGoods. Ahh, I love America. An entire, booming industry centered around decorative, dust-collecting stuff you can purchase so that your home looks like it was ripped from the pages of the Pottery Barn catalog and rivals any space on HGTV. And I mean that in the best way possible! Admittedly, I was kinda hoping that the old hh gregg would become a roller skating rink but I won't complain about another spot in Annapolis to shop for discounted homey stuff. HomeSense is owned by the TJX Companies, it started in Canada and it is purportedly nicer than HomeGoods. But even knowing that going in, I wasn't really sure what to expect. For some reason, I was visualizing the super voluminous size of an "At Home" store but HomeSense is pretty normal sized - lots of inventory but not overwhelming. However, I will say that the Annapolis size is considerably larger than the Columbia location. The Patch (an online local news outlet) noted that Cosmopolitan described HomeSense like "HomeGoods on Steriods" but I didn't feel that way. It had more of some things and less, or none, of other things. What surprised me about HomeSense is how much overlap there is with HomeGoods, which is just a few steps away, also located in Annapolis Plaza. Unlike HomeGoods, HomeSense carries more large pieces of furniture, has more rugs, has hard wired chandeliers and does not carry linens except throw pillows. Regarding the rugs, they have a ton of them at this location. If you need a couch, or a set of easy chairs or a grouping of dining chairs, I think there are some really decent finds here. I saw a chadelier that I liked but it was still around $600 so perhaps it is higher end than HomeGoods. Both HomeGoods and HomeSense have home decor, kitchen items, gift wrap and bags, framed art, mirrors and lamps. HomeSense has a "General Store" section that kinda sucked me in but it was really just organizational stuff and cleaning stuff. I think it's weird that the checkout is mid-store rather than near the door. I bought a big piece of art and it felt odd to carry it such a distance before getting to the exit. I must say, I don't think I ever recall seeing the parking lot at Annapolis Plaza so full! read more

Yes, a nice store and very welcoming to shop in - from a non-shopper-guy. I generally do not like places with "knick-knacks" and decorations for rooms I don't have. But the new HomeSense store is wide open, airy and welcoming. Housed in the old HR Gregg building near Trader Joes it has been completely redone with bright lighting and more windows in the front. I dreaded going in there because HR Gregg was so depressing to visit. But they did this right. The cashiers are on the right - which is different than most stores today. The main takeaway form this place is they have a huge selection of: LAMPS MIRRORS - Huge mirrors! Floor to ceiling framed mirrors - every type you would ever need. Don't shop these aisles if you don't want to look at yourself. CARPETS - RUGS COUCHES, dressers and chairs. Even headboards. And a generous collection of other household goods. The prices on some of the kitchen and bar items is so cheap, I don't want to tell you about them so there will be more for me! I got an amazing price on two different things, more than $20 less than Amazon offers! It's like a Home Goods on steroids or a mini-iKea. The parking used to be so easy on that side of the parking lot by Trader Joes, but now it's quite busy! Worth a visit when you're nearby. read more

I've been to this store twice already and they literally have everything you can think of for your home. Each aisle is filled with different little gems. Be sure to check the shelves from floor to ceiling because they seem to be that high. The only draw back is that I wish the aisles were wider because it can be pretty tight with the people and carts around at the same time. Great store, will visit again and again... read more

When I walked into Home Sense for the first time, I heard a gospel choir singing, "Hallelujah....Hallelujah....Hallelujaaaaahhhh!!!" This store is a home decorators dream come true! They offer furniture, cookware, cards/gift bags, Oriental rugs, lamps, and SO MUCH MORE!!! The store itself is HUGE! It's occupying the space where Circuit City was housed and it's now jam packed with any and everything you could imagine for your home. The best way to describe it is, Home Goods on steroids! I wandered around aimlessly for a good 45 minutes looking at all of the merchandise. It must be how children feel in a candy store, because I was overjoyed! From what I gather, they're under the Home Goods umbrella, but they carry big ticket items. More furniture options, chandeliers, etc. Everything is reasonably priced, and nicely organized in sections that makes sense for the shopper. The store itself can be a bit overwhelming with so many items all in one location, but it's a perfect one stop shop for the home. Home Sense is definitely a new store for me to check-out from time-to-time, but Home Goods is where my heart is. Luckily, one is in the same shopping center. read more

Great addition to Annapolis Plaza! I'm overjoyed that they've opened and expanded the brand offerings to anchor this side of the plaza, it makes sense! Fret not, for those unaware, Home sense is not the competition to HGoods they are part of TJX holdings, so if anything be ready for clearance and overflow- in other words it's a plus! Home Sense is the mothership, well stocked with everything from rugs, to chandeliers, to pillows, to decorative items, frames, mirrors, holiday tchotchke's, organizational and kitchen goods. It was well staffed on opening day and "Grip" (an associate from the Home goods in Waugh Chapel,) was wonderful helping me with my purchases, as always! ( I am a regular at all the locations--Waugh Chapel, as well as the Annapolis HG, so needless to say I know the stores like I'm the buyer. LOL) The skinny: I combed the entire store, two days in a row, and it does have some repeat items that are also at Home goods, and so much more; however, by way of furniture (headboards, screens, chairs, credenzas, books, decorative) so it's worth it to go to both- depending on your needs. While spacious, the only gripe I had is the rows can be tight in the middle kitchen sections, and by farmhouse, office, bath making it hard to pass comfortably--perhaps they'll widen them to accommodate customers to navigate without a hitch. They have the space to do it, so fingers crossed. Its grand opening was just this week, so people are out in droves and the parking a challenge. Be advised: don't take any chances parking by the adjacent bank, they tow... otherwise; shop till you drop, and pick up your big ticket purchases out front, by the tent. Can't help but wondering if HG will house most of their clearance... we shall see! read more

HomeSense, where you can come to get some HomeThangs. And yes, there is definitely an abundance of things to purchase. Let's start off with the good. It's designed like a warehouse with wide aisles that your cart can easily maneuver without accidentally knocking things over. This is a plus. Particularly in the glassware aisle because I'm clumsy. The selection of items is decent. In comparison to HomeGoods a few doors down, you are more likely to find more big pieces of furniture here. It's a good place to find accent chairs, dining room chairs, and desk chairs. Additionally, there are a lot of rugs as some other posters have mentioned. I don't see what the big hoopla was about the cash register location. You have eyes, look and move toward it. It's still maneuverable with wide lanes and lined with small items to steal more of your money. Now onto the less than stellar. Price points here don't seem like much of a discount particularly when lighting fixtures are still a good grand even with missing bulbs and cracks. Additionally, if you're looking for organization and storage items or bed linens, none shall come to pass here. Overall: a good place to take a look in if you're shopping for a bargain on chairs or a sofa. For other household decorative items, stick to HomeGoods. read more

Needed new table lamps for the bedroom. 15-year-old ones there now were getting glitchy. Trips to Marshall's and Home Goods with no luck. Annapolis needed to fill the gaping hole in Annapolis Plaza left by HH Gregg and Circuit City before that. A Homesense makes sense. And just in time for the holidays. Grand opening today was crazy! Massive amount of floor space. Has a warehouse vibe. Needs a commercial interior designer to give it a more homey feel. Checkout was not intuitively placed near front of the store. The line snaked and doubled back on itself. Shoppers joining the line were unsure where it started. Still, with 8 registers, things moved very fast. And, we scored a pair a nightstand lamps. Just what we had come for! I can see frequent forays to Homesense just to see what we didn't know we needed. read more

I am about to move and am looking for some chic items to decorate my new place! Don't get me wrong,HomeGood is my ish, but you really have to have time to go there to look for all the deals! Home sense is a home furnishing and decorations store much like home goods, which is convenient considering the two stores are located right next to one another in the shopping center by the mall where Trader Joe's is. The only difference is that the store itself is much larger and feels more open than home goods does. Not terrible, but also not worth all the "hype" it has been getting. The place is set up similar to a TJ Max/ Marshall's with a hodge podge of stuff in most aisles, and then a few organized sections for lamps, rugs, and furniture. But quite honestly, the items were way pricier than what they seemed to be worth, and far less cute or unique than what I typically find at Hobby Lobby. After we left here, we ended up walking over to the Homegoods that was next door and literally found the same exact items we had just bought, but for cheaper... super annoying. Overall, Not a bad place to stop in and peruse around if you're bored, but I wasn't impressed or feeling inclined to ever go back. Had A BAD-TASTE-IN-THE-MOUTH EXPERIENCE at this store today. Found some coffee cups in the Clearance section. Liked them; picked two types; noticed that identical items had different clearance price stickers on them. Brought my selections to the checkout counter and asked about the differing price labels. Usual experience at practically every other retailer, discount or otherwise: all items sell at the lowest sticker price. Even Walmart cashiers and first-line supervisors are authorized to do this. Not here! The best anyone could do? Parrot some company jargon about the prices being set at some higher level, and not to be deviated from. Bought the ten cups anyway. Came home and checked the merchandise against the receipt. Here's what I found: PRODUCTS: 3 cups - $2.00 each 4 cups - $3.00 each 3 cups - $3.50 each RECEIPT: 3 items - $2.00 each 3 items - $3.00 each 3 items - $3.50 each 1 item - $4.99 (NOT A SINGLE STICKER has the $4.99 price.) Further, there are only two item types/codes in the receipt: Five items are listed identically, as "31-DINNERWARE/CER 364611" - Price range: $2.00 to $4.99 Other five are also identically described: "31-DINNERWARE/CER 280041" - Prices: $2.00 & $3.50 With the staff utterly lacking initiative and responsiveness -- and error-ridden point-of-sale systems -- this store sends out one unmistakable message for the customer: BEWARE! YOU COULD GET RIPPED OFF HERE. My final decision? Everything goes back to this racket of a store as soon as I can get there. read more

WOW!! Everything you love about HomeGoods only more and (in many cases) higher quality! Found an amazing rug for an even more amazing price! So disappointed the wait to check out was 20 minutes and the cashier was sarcastic and rude. Polar opposite to my experience earlier in the year. I love shopping here. I hate that they lie and say that they can't take returns from Home Goods claiming the barcode scanners don't work on HG merchandise. Many of the workers here seem unhappy and aren't nice or customer service oriented. Good thing that they have good prices to keep their customers coming back. read more

Really upset to write a bad review since I love this store. My boyfriend and I came in here to find my grandmother a present. We came in 30 minutes before closing which I understand can be annoying to the workers however I work in the industry so I know how it is. With that said, I would never come in 10 minutes before closing. One of the workers followed my boyfriend around the store counting down how many minutes left until the store was closed. Maybe if they were going to close in 10 minutes it would be mildly rude, but half an hour before closing is just unacceptable. I noticed there were several other people in the store who were not being followed around. I also was not being followed and bombarded with questions. Whenever my boyfriend picked up something, the lady harshly asked if he was going to purchase it or he would have to put it down. My question is why was nobody following me around? Was it because I am a white girl and not wearing a jacket. Why were no other customers being followed? Was it because they were all dressed like hipsters looking at carpet? Why was my boyfriend the only non-white person being followed around bombarded with questions and a countdown until closing?! Safe to say we left with nothing. I will never shop here again, I will take my business to home goods next door instead! read more

I was delighted that there would be another home decor store for me to explore. I loved Homegoods before it "went to the dogs", meaning that they've decided to stock row after row of items for pets where there use to be HOME GOODS". HomeSense is no better. The decorative items take up just two aisles and part of a back wall. It's very disappointing. I have gone every week since I found HomeSense (Annapolis) and there are only a few new pieces of decor items each time. I hardly ever go to Homegoods anymore. It is junky and full of holiday and pet stuff and toys (OK. I know it's Christmas time.) There used to be a fine balance of everything for decorating, furnishing and entertaining. Now it is TARGET. What a loss. HomeSense, though it has a little more furniture, is not much better. No more weekly visits. If you are a decorator, it is a waste of time. Maybe it will get better after Christmas. read more

If there was a rating option lower than a 1, I would give it. I purchased a piece of furniture on Friday and the arrangement was to pick it up on Saturday as it was too large to fit into my vehicle. I had my poor daughter drive an hour after work to come and help me pick it up. After waiting an hour, we were told that the item could not be located. While waiting, multiple staff (who were all very nice and seemingly concerned about our customer service experience) commented that they were not a fan of the store manager. That didn't instill a great deal of confidence in me. The assistant store manager Anne was very nice but very new and all she could do was to give me a 10% off coupon (like I'm ever going back there...yea right!), to tell me they were going to see if they could find another piece and to give me the name of the store manager Steve Lopatin (who if he was smart would have come out to talk to me directly). I called an hour or so after I left the store and asked to speak to Steve. He'd gone for the day. I asked that he call me today which he did. I asked him what happened. He said that they SOLD MY FURNITURE TO SOMEONE ELSE! He offered his apology and said that he'd sent a request to other stores in the district and the buyers to see if they could locate another piece. I asked what the likelihood of finding it would be, he offered me nothing other than, I don't know. Now meanwhile, he told me that they don't use SKU numbers and can't tell what actual inventory they have in their store at any given time so I'm guessing that without that kind of system in place company wide, the likelihood of FINDING another piece is slim to none. When asked what would happen if they cannot locate this piece, I was told that I would get a refund. UMMMM...SERIOUSLY??? That's the BEST thing they can do for totally screwing me over!!!??? The conversation was much longer than what I'm relaying here but throughout the ordeal, I would say that Steve's customer service skills were significantly lacking. While he offered an apology, that apology came with the but, but but excuses which are of no use to a customer who came into their store in good faith and TRUSTED that their purchase would be protected until such time as it could be retrieved. SERIOUS FAIL!!!!!!!!! FURIOUS AND DISGUSTED DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER IT!!! read more
