An entire, booming industry centered around decorative, dust-collecting stuff you can purchase so that your home looks like it was ripped from the pages of the Pottery Barn catalog and rivals any space on HGTV. And I mean that in the best way possible! Admittedly, I was kinda hoping that the old hh gregg would become a roller skating rink but I won't complain about another spot in Annapolis to shop for discounted homey stuff. HomeSense is owned by the TJX Companies, it started in Canada and it is purportedly nicer than HomeGoods. But even knowing that going in, I wasn't really sure what to expect. For some reason, I was visualizing the super voluminous size of an "At Home" store but HomeSense is pretty normal sized - lots of inventory but not overwhelming. However, I will say that the Annapolis size is considerably larger than the Columbia location. The Patch (an online local news outlet) noted that Cosmopolitan described HomeSense like "HomeGoods on Steriods" but I didn't feel that way. It had more of some things and less, or none, of other things. What surprised me about HomeSense is how much overlap there is with HomeGoods, which is just a few steps away, also located in Annapolis Plaza. Unlike HomeGoods, HomeSense carries more large pieces of furniture, has more rugs, has hard wired chandeliers and does not carry linens except throw pillows. Regarding the rugs, they have a ton of them at this location. If you need a couch, or a set of easy chairs or a grouping of dining chairs, I think there are some really decent finds here. I saw a chadelier that I liked but it was still around $600 so perhaps it is higher end than HomeGoods. Both HomeGoods and HomeSense have home decor, kitchen items, gift wrap and bags, framed art, mirrors and lamps. HomeSense has a "General Store" section that kinda sucked me in but it was really just organizational stuff and cleaning stuff. I think it's weird that the checkout is mid-store rather than near the door. I bought a big piece of art and it felt odd to carry it such a distance before getting to the exit. I must say, I don't think I ever recall seeing the parking lot at Annapolis Plaza so full!

They sold me a memory foam bed that is sunken ( not filling out) on either end. Understanding that this is a discount furniture spot, we figured they'd have a decent selection on hand. Was right about that! Messaged the owner Josh and he seemed like an involved owner. I inquired about the hours since it was a holiday and he confirmed they were open. Found a bunk we liked and it was in stock. Got the price to a great point and decided to add on mattresses. That's where the issues came.. after a lot of back and forth we settled on two (what we though) pillow top mattresses, one of which was on display and was the floor model. They then mentioned they had it in stock and we even ended up paying $80 more because they said they'd lose money on the deal... I get it... offset costs from the actual furniture we bought. Loaded the car up? Confirmed that the colors were right.. mattresses were in boxes and vacuum sealed.. didn't think I'd have to open on the spot to confirm, SHOULD HAVE! Got the furniture home, put together the bed, very happy with it. Opened the mattresses and they were two different mattresses and neither one was what we "thought" we were getting. Messaged Josh through FB politely explained the mishap, confirmed we were happy with the furniture, even gave the sales person a nod of approval... his response (see screenshot below). After following the owners advice and messaging the sales guy.. he was short with me and ultimately stopped responding. I'd say, come here as they have a nice selection... if you buy a mattress in particular... OPEN BEFORE YOU PAY as they have an "all sales are final" stamped on the receipt! That seems to be where they're not as transparent (or aware) of their inventory. The bunk bed we purchased was very nice. Looking up the manufacture and this model, great reviews and we got an excellent price. Because there was some deception with what we received (mattresses) , we may escalate and file a BBB complaint.

Poor Customer Service They no longer have a dedicated…read moretelephone number for customer service repairs etc. You have to call the store if purchase and hope someone calls you back. Then be prepared to take lots of photos to justify the service request and hope they agree .. and approve the next step. They really need to streamline the process. Funny thing... paying for this expensive furniture was handled quickly.

The space is historic and quaint and it's full of high end maritime themed antiques. I was surprised to find an entire century old dive suit in the backroom. We had a great visit as she showed me around the store then left me to wander on my own. She also told me about the nearby snall beach and other areas of interest. She said the owner was a retired Coastie. I served in the USCG as did my son and his father and grandfather and uncles and cousins. If I were to ever own a home in that area, I would call them to decorate it and give them a blank check. Beautiful selection of art, sculpture, furniture, and all things maritime. I highly recommend them for home as well as gift items. A 10+ Hope to return on my next trip to Annapolis for some serious shopping!
