Cocktails were creative and delicious although erred on the sweet side (but bar very accommodating to dial back sweetness when able). Fun mocktails. Food was delicious and flavorful. Highlight was the pork chop. Yes, we had the same hesitation since it's typically dry at most places. But this was tender, moist, and so flavorful. Calamari and linguini, Brigade salad also delicious. Steelhead dish was dry, some good flavors but missed the mark a bit. Overall a hit for our very picky foodie crew. read more

Their food not only tastes mediocre but the presentation of it all looks disgusting. Don't get the French dip sandwich unless you want to throw up at the sight of it. I know I'm being mean, but it's true. They also up charge you for the use of a martini glass in addition to the drink. Amazing mixed drink menu. We got the chef's Board, which is basically a charcuterie that's extra. It comes with this amazing baguette. We also got a NY Strip that was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome, it has very cheery vibe. The attentiveness of the waitstaff is why this is 4 rather than 5 stars. I had the bison rib, highly suggested. Melt in your mouth, cut with a fork, savory goodness. The mashies were very nice, I would have preferred brussel sprouts to the carrots, but I didnae ask, so I ate what I got. The peach panacotta finished the meal perfectly. Then they finally seated us and it took forever for the waitress to visit our table. She got our order wrong and again it took forever for both food and drinks to arrive. The restaurant itself appears modern and elegant upon arrival. One can instantly feel the vibe they're going for. The bourbon rum cocktail was delicious. Then the appetizer arrived: Mountina Raclette. Someone from the kitchen set it down saying, "There's that for ya." The appetizer quickly became a congealed oily lump of cheese that migrated to the edge of the dish like a cooled down escapee from a lava lamp. Two miniature gherkins and four tiny fingerlings retired to the edges, no harmony. Abandoned pickle in the middle wondered, "Was it something I said?"Now we could see why the kitchen refrained from fully describing the dish earlier. The short ribs, however, were prepared to perfection. The fish special needed a sauce because it was dry. The vegan pasta with mushrooms was good. Not great, but good. Then a young staff member came out to sit at the bar next to our table. Her shift was over. She proceeded to pull her sweatshirt up and off over her head to reveal her sports bra. She apparently felt too warm. She was glad to be done with work. She needed a drink. How nice for her! The after dinner coffee was weak to the point of being undrinkable. In summation, I would suggest Brigade management needs to care more. Care more about quality. Care more about consistency. Care more about service. Care more about execution. Care enough to check a dish before it goes to table. We need an adult in house who cares more. read more

My wife and I sat at the bar counter Sunday night for dinner..we were served by Mitch and Jack. They were very attentive to us and gave us great recommendations for drinks wine and food. Mitch recommend beef carpaccio burrata cheese appetizers..we had steak and frites medium rare great sauce for steak..we finished with peanut butter pie excellent roasted marshmallow ice cream the Best. I've always believed that if you really want to understand the quality of a place, you should come in as a party of one. I came to Bozeman for work and figured I'd make a reservation for a good dinner. I read the reviews for Brigade and they seemed mostly positive so I figured I'd give it a try. I had a decent gin martini and a really nice crab risotto (although I did have to pick out a couple of shells). Still, all the food and cocktails were good enough that I would have recommended the place. The problem was the service. Because I was travelling alone for work, I was sitting alone at a two-top in the bar area which I've done in a dozen other cities (and at least three or four other places in Bozeman). But I sat there for a good 15 minutes before the bar manager - not my server - finally came by and asked "has so-and-so come by to take your order?" When I said no - with no complaint - she took my drink order and eventually so-and-so showed up. No introduction. No comments about the menu. "You want anything to eat?" I asked about their catch of the day. "It's an ocean-caught salmon." That's literally all the information he felt like sharing. So I ordered my risotto. Ordered a glass of wine. For dessert, I ordered one of their cocktails (which the bartender dropped off without a word or even making eye contact). A little while later so-and-so came by with my check without ever asking if I was done. Incidentally, a table of four sat down next to me while I was finishing my dinner. "My name is so-and-so. How are you doing tonight?" I get that a bigger table means a bigger tip, which is why you kiss their butts. But if you can't treat every customer like they matter, then you're in the wrong business. I don't expect to be treated like a king. I've been to plenty of places with mediocre service and just shrugged it off. I've never been in a restaurant where I felt like all they wanted was to get rid of me. And I've never had such a terrible service experience that I felt the need to come gripe about it on Yelp. But here we are. If I had just had minimally respectful service, this probably would have been a 4-star review. But I've literally never felt so disrespected as a customer as I did walking out of this place. read more

This was a huge disappointment for my son's 40 th Birthday dinner. His Bison Rib Eye was so tough it was almost inedible. However, the most disappointing thing about this dining experience was the service. Our waitress was not only uninterested in us, but was actually rude in her indifference....wasn't sure if they had any coffee but never came back to tell us or ask if we would like anything else ...tea? an after dinner drink ?? She Simply disappeared (well, not completely..she just sashayed around the restaurant ) and 25 minutes later dropped off the check without a word . Overall, overpriced, over rated, over hyped . We came in for happy hour. The food was very good! I recommend the crispy pork ribs! But... The low rating is because of the service. The hostess was nice, but everyone else seemed to not want to be there. Our server wouldn't look us in the eye and seemed generally disinterested in engaging with her section. I felt like a burden to the staff for simply asking for my check. A smile goes a long way, folks. read more

Had a very bad experience here. Ordered an aperol spritz and it was terrible. I love aperol spritz and this one was not made correctly. I'm not a bartender so I'm not sure what they did wrong but it tasted awful. I had to send it back. Next, my shrimp pasta came out raw and undercooked. The shrimp was translucent. I couldn't believe it. I never send food back as I've been a server before. I was so embarrassed to send it back but I did not want to risk getting sick. Really upsetting that they put me in that position. They offered to remake it and take 50 percent off the bill. By that point I had lost my appetite and confidence in the kitchen to cook it properly so I left the food there and I did not eat it. Still had to pay for it. Added one star because it was a nice atmosphere and decorated nicely but don't waste your time. Much better restaurant offerings in Bozeman with no food cooking issues. read more

We continue to give these folks a chance. It proves to be hit or miss. Consistently over-cooked meat is expected. Even when returning food, the re-cook is over-cooked. The service is great but in some instances undertrained. I like the management and staff so maybe give them another chance, but definitely not when friends are visiting. Let me start with happy hour... Beer is cheap, cocktails are cheap, but I am a wine drinker, the only wine discount is on a full bottle. As a result I ordered a glass of wine at regular price, the pour was so slight, my guest and I looked at each other like, really! Just left me feeling disappointed. Another occasion I ordered a $22 hamburger, that and itself was hard to swallow, but another thing that was disappointing was the single wilted piece of lettuce the size of a baby spinach leaf left my hamburger feeling lonely, no tomato, no onions, wow, just wow!
