I sipped my beer, enjoyed watching the activity behind the bar, and occasionally looked up at the hunting show playing on tv. We were staying at a hotel and didn't have a steak knife with us, so they were nice enough to slice up the steak so it'd be easy to eat. We enjoyed our dinner and then enjoyed the final few slices of steak for breakfast. It's obvious the building and equipment have seen many years, but that fits with my expectation for a saloon in a small town in Montana. It could have been nice to find a shiny and updated space, but it wouldn't have felt quite right. I think they'll be happy to make some upgrades at some point, though. The only downside was that they forgot about me when it was time to pay. One of the bartenders (owners?) gave me my food bag but didn't have the card reader with him, so he said he'd deliver some food to a table and be right back. I then watched him take other orders, teach another bartender how to make a drink, etc. At one point the man who grabbed the seat next to me got a menu so I tried to get their attention, but they walked away without checking on me. Eventually (10+ minutes later?) I got a different bartender's attention and was able to pay. Lesson learned? Unless I'm in no hurry, don't keep the tab open (even if I am considering ordering a second beer) and just pay early.

So here us a case where it was good to be thorough and proved not to be a waste of time in doing. The beer that I had with Steve was the Headwaters Hazy which was a New England IPA which was a good one! I haven't had one of these IPA's for a while and it was pleasant to have one again. Flavor features with this beer are hoppy with subtle hints of orange and berries. The beer definitely lives up to the "hazy" in it's name as it is most certainly that in appearance. The beer that I had (and Steve enjoyed too) was the Salmon Fly Honey Rye. Rye beers is a type of beer that I don't come across very often and when I finally do it's a refreshing experience as is the case with this Rye beer. Flavor features to find with this beer are honey, a natural sweetness and rye. The beer is light bodied and has a smooth body to it. A nice change of pace from what you typically come across with beer selections.

Best food I've had at a wedding ever! At our venue he set up the main dinner food like a buffet instead of having the truck, which worked wonderfully. We had sausages, brisket, ribs, and a variety of sides. We had a charcuterie table, and two passed appetizers for our cocktail hour and it was beautiful and delicious. We also had late night pulled pork tacos and those were a hit as well. He can make basically anything you would want. I'm so glad we went with blue smoke! The price was very reasonable, nothing like what you would expect for wedding catering, yet they went above and beyond to make it easy for us! We provided our own plates and silverware/napkins but they had everything else. We actually bought metal bbq trays and had deli paper printed with photos of us and everyone thought that was super cute and a unique touch so I loved that we got to choose our own for that. They also helped facilitate serving our cake and desserts from another vendor. They were very accommodating with our venue coordinator as well, and I'm so thankful everything went so smoothly! There was plenty of food for everyone including all our vendors. We also brought ziplock baggies to send food with guests and ourselves so nothing went to waste. The whole planning process was also great because Justin was so responsive and answered so many questions for me in the months leading up to the wedding. Thanks so much Justin and team!
