As it was already pretty late in the evening and we were both pretty full, neither of us was in the mood for coffee and just wanted a small snack. There weren't that many options left, of course, as it was late, so, along with a 3.95 CAD Heartwood Farm & Cidery organic sour cherry drink, I ordered a Banana Caramel Cookie, and the friendly cashier there added a second one for free. Aside from being a very kind gesture, I presume the place was closing soon. The cookie was maybe 2.50 CAD, if I recall correctly, and it was good. I was slightly worried that it would be too sweet, but the caramel flavor wasn't super strong, and there was a good mixture of that and a light banana flavor. It was also surprisingly not too dry for how late it was. Overall, it was tasty, and the drink was also good.

It was okay. Tried three items:…read more Matcha Lava Tart - The staff said this had the strongest matcha flavour among their matcha items. But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

The cake features delicious ube flavour, a soft and airy whipped cream layer, a fluffy cake layer, and a unique sticky rice base infused with ube. The sticky rice is the best part! I also tried their matcha pandan cake, but it wasn't my favourite. The bitter matcha powder on top was overwhelming and took away from the overall experience, so I'll be sticking to my favourite ube cake from now on. One thing I've noticed is that the box cakes have gotten smaller, but thankfully, the price was adjusted to match the size reduction.

When you walk in the door, if the case full of French-patisserie-class pastries, scones and things that you've never seen but you know on an existential level they are going to be amazing doesn't get your attention, then the massive crystal chandelier will. Okay, if you're not impressed by those, then how about the glass wall behind which a baker is preparing something that requires a massive amount of butter (there had to be 20 to 25 pounds sitting there)? The place is small and adorable. The staff is friendly, the coffee is fresh ground and brewed, and while a lot of people glide in, purchase, and leave there is some seating along the front wall. A great spot to get a scone, a coffee or tea, and watch Toronto go by. Marvelous indeed!
