In the interest of full disclosure, I have to state upfront that I have never rented this space for any event of my own...nor would I, after seeing the way they recently treated a family member. * Thing is, this is not the first time I have witnessed others I know get screwed by this venue.* She did her wedding reception here, following the ceremony at a local church, and the faculty in charge of the space failed to remove all the decorations that had been set up for a previous event (which, according to the sign left on the ceiling, had been some sort of baby shower). Several people noticed it...and the professional videographers hired to cover the event ended up getting quite a bit of footage with these misplaced elements in the background, all of which can not be used for their wedding film now. When she attempted to talk to the owners of the establishment about getting a partial refund, they were INCREDIBLY rude about it, flat out refusing to accept responsibility for ruining a part of her big day. That has to be why they will ONLY accept cash payment - in advance - for the rental of their venue...they have probably made these kind of blunders in the past. Do yourself a favor: take your business to a venue with a better track record! read more

BEST. WEDDING. VENUE. EVER. The place is beautiful, you get it for 24 hours, and you can pretty much do anything with it (within reason and as long as your vendors can provide insurance, which is fair). We used some of their epic vendors and loved them! (JD musik, A MIHO experience, Barcon, VG donuts, Folklore rentals) Last year as I started wedding planning and searched for a venue, I just wasn't into places that had all inclusive packages because it just didn't feel like me - they were super formal with stiff fancy linens and things, with boring food (sorry not sorry). My friend at work mentioned she has recently attended a wedding at Brick and the couple had Phils BBQ at their reception - I was hooked. I quickly went on their website, sent an inquiry request, quickly got a reply, went in for a meeting, and BOOM! we booked our venue! Shout out to my friend for planting that seed! The fact that I could have my dog there was probably one of the biggest deciding factors. If you are lucky enough to book your event/wedding with Brick, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to hire BRICK COORDINATION. Ashleigh was nothing short of an angel sent from heaven to help make my wedding dreams come true and take my stress away. There are a million things that go into planning and coordinating one of the most important days of your life, and having a professional team execute that for you is worth every penny and more. I had my wedding at Brick May 28 of this year and I couldn't be happier. Keep in mind when looking at this venue it is completely DIY so it takes some planning and creativity but you can really make it your own. Pay the extra when booking for a month of coordinator. Ashleigh was my coordinator and I couldn't be happier or more thankful for everything she did for me! You can choose your own vendors or they have a list of preferred vendors that you can use. I mostly used people from their preferred list. The venue itself is a beautiful open building with brick walls and cafe lights hanging which makes it a very romantic space. You have the venue for 24 hours which made it easy to pick up our things the next morning which they had packed up perfectly for me in my car the night before. This venue is awesome as a blank canvas. If you'd like to make your wedding all your own, you can get really creative here. One thing you might take heed on is the amount of things you will need to fill the space. If undecorated "empty space" is not an issue then this can be very budget friendly. If you'd like to DIY a lot of bulky projects or have friends/relatives deliver things, there will be extra expenses for insurance if they do not already have a general liability of insurance. It makes sense, though I think their staff could have done a better job of informing us about the insurance before we booked. Friends and family helping out will need to get insurance for the day (we paid for the day's insurance, so our friends and family wouldn't have to). I borrowed a backdrop wall from a relative and also had our friends perform for our first dance; both entities required insurance (~$100 each). I also bought insurance for myself to cover friends and family moving a sectional couch and some tables. Collectively, these expenses add up. You can either rent from a vendor, which can be pricey, or bring stuff over yourself, which cost me more than I personally expected (from insurance costs). It can be done with a strong support group though! I was not particularly happy with my client concierge, Mallory. Generally speaking, I didn't feel she had my back during the process. It would've been a better experience with her had she been more personable and more understanding during the stressful time of planning a wedding. Several times that I emailed her, I listed out a few questions, only a few of which she'd answer in her replies so communication was not efficient. Even so, her replies were robotic and seemed to be derived from a script. My day of wedding coordinators told me about their interactions with her. In the morning she simply opened the doors without greeting them, set up the photo booth, and then closed the door behind her in the office. They weren't informed or welcomed to come inside. They spent a few minutes playing the guessing game. I heard she also gave them attitude when I missed the detail of bringing my own trash cans. People make mistakes and I wish she held a more professional and customer service oriented demeanor. Also, I wasn't impressed with BRICK's photo booth, even though it is a DSLR camera attached to a container with a printer. I suspect the DSLR camera didn't have the correct shutter speed bc most of the pictures were blurry. DSLRs have a shutter speed of at least 1/60. I'm sad I didn't go over there to test it out bc I could have adjusted the settings; now I have a stack-full of blurry, and dark pictures. Missed mementos :( Lastly, I'd like to make a side note that the west Lawn actually costs a couple hundred more to rent out. I feel this is something that should be said explicitly on their website since many pictures show this on their blog. It's an awesome place, but you have to do a lot more planning than an all-inclusive deal. read more

Not only do I already love the venue space at BRICK because of their open space that allows anyone to expand their creativity, but their staff are so incredible to work with making the entire event planning experience smooth and easy going. Ingrid especially is such a delight to work with. She goes out of her way to make sure my clients are more than satisfied. Not only did she take care of them, but she also took care of me. As an event planner not associated with BRICK, she made sure to check in with me throughout the entire day, everything went as planned, and kept in contact weeks after. I attended Camp Wild N Free here on May 4, 2017. Amazing does not even begin to cover it. The entire night from beginning to end was awesome. The glitter station was the perfect addition to my all white outfit. The bartenders who were hired provided great service that was more than tip worthy. We loved everything about the space, the venue is a beautiful blank palate and was exactly what we were looking for. I cannot express how happy I am with how our wedding at BRICK Liberty Station turned out! It took a lot of work with a lot of wonderful people, but the end result was beyond anything that I could have imagined. The venue is absolutely beautiful especially when the tables are set, the flowers and decor are out and the lighting is shining on the brick walls. Our 260 person wedding fit well within the space. We had room for a decent sized dance floor, 2 bars, photo booth and large buffet with carving station. What I love about BRICK is that whatever you imaging, you can make it happen! It is a life saver that they give you a 24 hour rental! You still need to have everything taken off the tables and take the time to tidy up at the end of the night, but you and your vendors don't have to load everything out until 10:00 am the next morning. That really helps when you have an open bar situation going on. Don't forget to designate a sober person for end of night duties. We are vendors who have delivered Farm Tables to BRICK many times for events and I cannot say enough good things about it! It is by far one of our favorite venues in San Diego. BRICK offers a spacious warehouse venue with gorgeous brick walls and high windows. They also give brides a 24 hour rental which allows some clean up to take place the morning after the event.This is a huge plus and relieves the stress of having to clean up quickly after your event. My husband and I got married at Brick on 10/6/18 and it was dreamy!! Anyone who complains about the planes overhead must not have been having a good time at the wedding/party they were at because we barely even noticed them once our ceremony got underway. We chose the space because of the flexibility to choose your own vendors, the fact that there is no curfew and lastly, the location. Liberty Station itself is such a great spot with all of the restaurants and retail plus the proximity to the San Diego airport for out of town guests is so convenient. My husband and I are both event planners so we opted not to do coordination through Brick, however we worked closely with our venue contact - Mallory - and she was wonderful. She was super responsive and very helpful. She had great tips and insight whenever we were unsure of something or wanted to know best practices. We worked with all of our vendors and sorted out the logistics and then handed it off to a day of coordinator (freelance) who made it all come to life. We hired Brick Beverage for the bar and I would highly recommend them. Ashleigh was phenomenal to work with. We purchased all of our alcohol through BevMo and they delivered it day of and chilled. We had one minor issue during the reception when our lighting went out and had to be re-calibrated, but other than that I have no complaints. I highly recommend this venue and this staff! read more

We had our wedding here in October and it was fantastic! Our coordinator Victoria is THE BEST. She is insanely knowledgeable and skilled at what she does. We had a LOT of do-it-yourself elements and she not only set them all up for us, but the room looked BETTER than I could have ever imagined. She was professional, crazy fast at responding to all of my emails, and just an overall kind and sweet person. Everything went so smoothly!! We didn't have ANY issues on the day. Who can say that?! Ashleigh is incredibly sweet and helpful as well! Her and Victoria went above and beyond working with our vendors. Victoria even reached out to some vendors after the wedding to follow-up on things. We picked the venue based on the BYO Vendors idea and it completely paid off. We got to build a wedding that fit us perfectly! Friends of ours are recently engaged and we have already recommended the BRICK. If you're looking for a space that will make all your wedding dreams come true (as cheesy as it sounds), this is the place! One thing I would recommend to BRICK as a venue, is to do away with the electronic contracts in their current form. It's great that we can update things as the year goes on, but not having the original contracts (since they update digitally instead of creating a new one) caused some issues and confusion later on. It seems like an easy fix! Or even just saving a version of the originals and edits along the way would probably help both the brides/grooms as well as the coordinators. I've done around 5 weddings at the Brick and I always have the best experience working there. I love everything about the staff. Ingrid and Victoria are so amazing, and they will make sure your special day is perfect. They help make my job at ease because they are so efficient and get back to me with any questions or concerns, in a timely manner. On top of the staff being amazing, the venue itself is perfect. You can mold it to however you envision it and make it your own. I love seeing how each wedding I work at the Brick; look different to match each of my clients' individual feel but ALWAYS looks amazing. I am having my wedding here in a week, but let me tell you how much of a nightmare it has been working with them. First of all, we went to the open house and spoke to Alejandra, where she spoke to us in person about the venue after having a few words by email in our interest in having our wedding held here. However, it is important to us to have alcohol on the tables for our guests as it's a custom for Asian weddings, Alejandra said that we could do that in our meeting. Of course, after purchasing the venue, we were told by the previous beverage coordinator that they cannot do that. That's the first strike. Second, we were a assigned a concierge coordinator(CC), Amelia, who was great! She was warm and bubbly in person and by email. However, 2-3 months ago, she quit her job suddenly. Of course, no one said anything to me, I emailed her over a week with no reply to then be told I was assigned a new CC, Mallory. And let jus say, Mallory did not even apologize for any inconvenience or the lack of communication. She simply said I am your new CC and will be your direct contact from here on out. Third, I contacted Mallory about walk thru since it was already December, she told me they will only have 1 this month and it was the following week. I would have like some notification especially if it's the only walk thru they are gonna have in December and my wedding is beginning of January! I mean they advertise on their website that "save over 100 hours of planning and thousands of dollars by using 828 coordination...we make sure you remember what you're forgetting, get the things you want and need, and leaving the fluff out". Which they have not done so I guess that's false advertising, isn't it?! Fourth, we went to that walk thru with my caterer and wedding planner, and I was standing by the door inside with my caterer for a good 5-10 mins, and all the coordinators are jus sitting there, Mallory is present, not saying a word to me. As if I jus invited myself in. So the whole time I was there, I was going over everything with just my caterer and planner with no one from the venue to confirm anything with me. At the end of our meeting, I HAD TO walk over to Mallory and say hello myself. It was embarrassing to say the least. I paid for this venue and to feel like I was a nuisance is disgusting. Fifth strike, when I was speaking with Amelia, I was told I had to have a barrier for the west lawn, I had asked and sent her photo of examples of these 4 ft balloon letters that I will stake to the ground, as barriers instead. Amelia, CONFIRMED, that I could. Fast forward to today, exactly a week before my wedding, I was told I cannot and I need to purchase what is approved. Of course, I showed Mallory the email proof and that I have already purchased everything. She replied "thank you for understanding". WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I am not understanding, Mallory. The fact that you didn't check in on me at all, these are the details you should have seen through the conversation with Amelia. You should have done your job or what is promised by the company in the website! Ever since I booked this venue 6 months ago, they had 2 people leave their company with no notification to me. I was a sitting duck until they decide to let me know who will I have the luck to work with next. The only two good employees that I worked with is Amelia and the new beverage coordinator, Miranda. Do yourself a favor, if you want to have a good wedding don't have it here. 24 hour rental claim is not even true! You literally have to provide everything if you want to book this venue. You do not get any coordination help, except for people telling you what you need to provide them. Don't make a mistake like I did! Gotta give this place the full 5 stars as our wedding went exactly how we hoped it would. You seriously could put pillows on the floor and have an amazing looking wedding. This venue has all of the vibe built right in so there is very little that has to be done to make it look amazing. The staff was helpful in keeping us on track with our timelines and with really good vendor suggestions when we needed a couple. Speaking of vendors, the flexibility with who you bring here is one of the main selling points in my opinion. Knowing that we weren't limited to just a few options and could hire a few friend's businesses (with proper paper work) was a real plus. I can't imagine trying to pull off what we did in any other space. If you need an indoor venue, this is your place. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I was at this venue for a wedding and this is how the night panned out. Arriving there, parking is horrible! We noticed that the venue blocks off about 4 or 5 parking spaces, 1 space for a port a potty on wheels, the other spaces for where they prepared the event's dinner for guests. It is a busy area and understand the parking situation but it states they have "private parking" Very misleading! Bc we came to find that for a venue that can hold more than 200 guests, has limited private parking and parking could be found in other nearby lots (can be quite a walk for some). Going into the venue, 2 restrooms and then the port a potty outside, so uncomfortable using the port a potty when you're dressed in heels and in a very small space. The wedding ceremony was set as we entered, all chairs in their rows etc. I noticed during the ceremony, there is a glass door behind the officiant who is marrying the couple. It was distracting to see all the passers by and you can even see the staff setting up the bar as the ceremony proceeded. On top of that, you can hear all the airplanes passing overhead (which went on thru out the entire night) which made it difficult to understand at times what was being said. Next, cocktail hr. They had all guests leave the building for cocktail hr. It was freezing outside and we weren't allowed to go inside because they had to move tables to set up for dinner. When we were finally allowed to go back in, the setup was beautiful. But tables were long & rectangular so it was hard to walk in between tables to either get up to use the bathroom or go to the bar or just mingle with friends and family at other tables. When asking any of the staff for extra utensils because I had dropped mine, they said sure but they never came back. I had to ask someone else and even that took forever. It was buffet style and it seemed like they barely had enough food. Our table was one of the last to get up to get our food and there was no more salad and barely enough pasta. But the food that they did have left was not bad. Some of the staff were friendly others had scowls on their faces, 1 staff member was just utterly rude. She seemed like she was either the event coordinator or assisting the coordinator as I saw her moving tables and helping to set up things earlier. Another staff member had spilled water and made a trail of water from one end of a guest table to the other. Tables seemed about 12 ft long. But no one came to wipe it up despite many staff walking over it. Over all, my impression of this venue is disappointing. I'm very surprised at the 5 star ratings. I'd like a venue that was a little more private (this venue seemed to have many tourists peeking thru the windows during the ceremony and throughout the reception). Parking wouldn't be easy for guests, esp. if you have disabled guests who would need a closer parking space. Even just dropping someone off at the front door could be difficult because it is a high vehicle traffic area. Staff looked annoyed and were rude, last but not least, you can barely get any cell phone reception in this place. read more

The venue is too close to an airport so the wedding literally had to be stopped at times because of the air traffic. March 2020, Right before Covid hit my husband and I booked this venue, with being told we should be fine come march 2021 we were blissfully excited booking all venders and paying for what we needed to. In the middle there was some speculation on if we were going to have a wedding or not with the lock down. We were never told we weren't ever able to have our wedding on the date we reserved just that we were in a waiting game of the lockdown and we're told to look at other dates just in case. A month before our wedding the day of coordinator called to confirm plan and was told our wedding had been moved to June or July, something we didn't pick nor actually was informed of. Of course we're scrambling a month before the wedding had to book a new venue thankfully and when we have asked for refunds because of Covid stipulations we're met with no leniency, no heart, just straight legal stuff which is why I would not recommend this place to anyone. You want a venue who is on your side and is understanding. read more

I got married here at the end of May (Memorial Day weekend). We were coming from out of state, so we'd booked it during our last trip about a year and a half before the wedding (Dec 2015). The staff at Brick was great to work with during the whole planning process, even while trying to figure things out from a distance. They were very up front with their policies and expectations and what would be included with the rental fees. We always had a designated client concierge. Even though that person changed a few times, it seems like they were great about transferring our information between people so we didn't have to "start over" with someone new. Some of their policies changed between booking and day-of, but we were able to work with our concierge to make sure everything went smoothly and we were all on the same page. Ingrid (our final concierge) starting emailing us about a month before our wedding to let us know what documentation we still needed, what insurance was still required, etc. She was super quick on emails, also, which was great when we're making last-minute decisions. Prior to the wedding, I was concerned about being in the flight path of the airport. Although that means we didn't have noise restrictions, I was concerned about the noise of planes overhead during the reception (especially the first dance, toasts, cake cutting, etc). But honestly, I don't remember hearing them at all. When you're inside (especially with the roll-up door closed, like we had later at night), you don't hear as much as you think you will! The only "surprise" on the day-of was that we had to have barriers around the North lawn, since we had cornhole set up and people could take alcohol outside. Our coordinator used our Shepherd's hooks and bought some ribbon to solve the problem. This may have been something that we just missed in our contract, but just something for future brides/event planners to be aware of. Other than that, everything was very smooth--we were able to get in right at 10 am, and we were packed up by about 9 the next day while their staff cleaned the floors, etc. We were able to stay as late as we wanted that night, which was great for so many friends and family who hadn't seen each other in years. We ended up staying until about 2 am, and it was great to not have any pressure to pack up or end our wedding day just because of the time of night. Shoutout to Kenny as the chillest security guard ever! I would definitely book with Brick again. They are VERY easy to work with, and you know exactly what you're getting. I'm writing regarding my experience with a tour of the Brick venue. Let me start by saying I absolutely loved the venue. It was beautifully simple and exactly what I was looking for. Based off the 2 quotes I got via email, the in person quote at the time of the tour, and the actual proposal from the venue after the tour (to continue to booking), we were set on booking. However, shortly after receiving the proposal, I received an additional email saying Colleen had misquoted me all 4 of those times. Being that this venue brags on no hidden fees or charges, I didn't expect the quote to change significantly. I was wrong. My original quote was for $3500, but it was then changed to $10,000. A difference of $6,500...WOW. I understand people make mistakes, but this mistake was at the cost of the company so there was no way they would honor their 4 (not 1, but FOUR) quotes just days and hours prior. I'm leaving this review not to tarnish their reputation, but to really help other future brides avoid the heartbreak of this huge mistake. In addition, they made no attempt to correct this situation except to say they MIGHT be able to take off $500 if I booked. Be cautious when booking with them. Even though I have all the screenshots of the initial proposal and price, I referred back to my emails and they have removed the original link. It's a shame to experience this with them. read more

The BRICK venue and team were incredible for our wedding! The venue is stunning, its perfectly located in Liberty Station and the interior has such a rustic feel that was perfect for our event. First impressions make a huge difference, good... and definitely bad. My fiance and I are in the midst of searching for wedding venues and were touring different locations in Liberty Station. We received a great tour from a very gracious young lady at Stone Brewery and while we were impressed we were still looking around considering other options and vendors. Along with my fiance and I, my family decided to join us for the tours. My fiance saw that Brick was right outside, had great reviews, and beautiful pictures. All of us saw the brick building across the street and started walking towards the open door. We noticed people walking in and out of a door that was wide open with items that must have been for the event that evening. We walked past and saw the absolutely beautiful set up and decided to walk in and just grab a card from the event company. I walked in by myself at first and was really impressed by the interior decorations. My sister who has worked in hotel management and hospitality for over 8 years then walked in after me and approached a woman standing near the open door and said, "I have a couple here that is engaged and viewing locations for their wedding". The woman then walked over to another woman who seemed to be coordinating everyone and pointed to us. My sister then said to the second woman, "I have a couple here that was just engaged, do you have a business card." This woman, Christina, gave us a cold look and said "Bricksd.com" and then looked away cutting all eye contact and proceeded to do what she was doing. It seemed very clear that we were bothering her and she had no interest in speaking. I, who work in sales and marketing and my sister were immediately taken aback. This was enough for me to simply turn around and start walking out. The attitude and rudeness was so apparent I had no choice but to leave as I lost complete interest in the venue. As I was walking out I heard Christina say to me, "Are you going to remember that?" and then pulled out a sheet of paper and started writing down the website. I responded with, "Yes, but if you want to write it down...?". My fiance who is one of the warmest most optimistic and forgiving human beings I have ever met went up to her and introduced herself and started to banter. I again had lost complete interest at the first sign of outright rudeness. Christina asked to see her engagement ring and asked what day we'd like to have the wedding and explained that all of her Saturdays are booked far into 2017 and then explained that Fridays are an option and said, "I had a Friday wedding." Again, the tepid attempt to make up for her initial response was wasted on me. I have to admit the interior was beautifully decorated which is such a waste because we were so impressed. But my fiance and I will not be spending $30,000 with Brick if there's even the slightest chance of having to deal with the attitude we witnessed. Perhaps Christina was having a bad day or maybe she was stressed because she was in the middle of coordinating an event. But both my sister and I know it takes the same amount of effort to be polite to someone as it does to be rude, but as a business selling a service there is no excuse for being rude to potential customers. read more

This venue was nothing but headaches. They are unreasonable and horrible to work with during this pandemic. During the whole shut down, they let me know the month of that I'd have to postpone with no option of a refund even though they could not fulfill the even on their end. I had to reschedule for the following year. We waited until February and felt that we had to postpone because things were still not looking good. As is we had been hit hard with the loss of family members. They were giving us a hassle to not only choose a new date within a few weeks but pay additional for 24 hours when it's supposed to be included. Life happens and we've been through so much these past 2 years that Brick was only concerned about closing our contract and us clients losing out on everything we had already paid for. It's unfortunate that they were so focused on only giving us a short amount of time to either get more money out of us or make a decision under a short amount of time. This venue is extremely greedy for what they offer and their main point of contact and venue manager is the worst. Everyone has had a hard time during this pandemic and Brick had no empathy what so ever. Be aware of what your getting out of this place when you pay for an empty building of brick and concrete, included with the loud noises of the airplanes above. There are way better venues than this place with more to offer in all honesty. read more

It was the PERFECT wedding venue and our coordinators, Ashleigh and Victoria, made it the best day ever. - Definitely recommend hiring coordinators for a wedding. They are so organized and will make the month of so much less stressful. Ashleigh is very responsive and has lots of experience and connections with vendors, so things happened much more efficiently than if I were to plan alone. - Beautiful, large space so you can get creative! And if you're not creative, the coordinators have lots of ideas so it'll be beautiful no matter what. - Loved the freedom we had to book any vendor! This is a huge deal... other locations give you a list of 3-5 caterers you must go through and they are usually overpriced. We went with Phil's BBQ and paid about $10,000 less for food! - No curfew! Yay! - Guests raved about what a cool place it is! Beautiful yet different from a traditional wedding venue. read more
