I found myself disappointed at this place. The food just wasn't that good I can't figure out why. It looked great but the flavors were just over the top. They have a large space indoor and outside patio and the staff were friendly. Prices were good but service was on the slower side for whatever reason. Everyone finally got there and we were ready to leave when the front door opened , it was 3:20pm. The food was delicious. We could have eaten a gallon of the banana pepper dip. The "pita" that came with it was buttered pizza crust. So good. Our entrees were also amazing. The chicken and biscuits were savory and full of flavor. I would eat that again and again. The short rib pasta was creamy and super meaty. The noodles seemed like they were home made. Love this place. Any place I can take my parents where everyone can get something they like is a plus. Great wings and other appetizers. Side salad even had a little bit of flair with the peeled carrots. Brick Mac and steak in the grass pizzas are fantastic but if it looks good, get it! Huge beer selection and a nice little bar area. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap. It was delicious. The wrap was generously packed with bite-sized pieces of white meat chicken, chopped romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing. The wrap is served with potato chips. (French fries are $2.00 extra.) I came here yesterday for lunch. Indoor dining is allowed again in Erie County and I wanted to catch up with a friend. I had a Michelob Ultra. They have many kinds of beer on tap and many kinds of wine. Unfortunately, they don't serve mixed drinks. I'm not sure if that's a new thing or if that's how they've always been. We came after their brunch time so we couldn't order brunch. We came before dinner time so we were told, except for the steak sandwich, that we couldn't order from the entree menu. That left us with soup and salads, appetizers, and brick oven pizzas. My friend and I split stuffed banana peppers and a Reuben pizza. The stuffed banana peppers were great. It came with more than enough mozzarella sauce to dip it in. There were only two peppers and two small garlic toast points. The Reuben pizza was fantastic. This review is five stars for the pizza alone. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten. It had a thin crispy crust with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on it. Order it!!! You'll love it!!! The service was okay. I came here about two months ago, the night before the last restaurant shutdown period. I treated two friends who helped me move. My one friend ordered the Reuben pizza. He loved it. My other friend ordered the chicken parmesan. She loved it. I had a dark beer, french onion soup and barbecue meatballs. Their barbecue meatballs were fantastic. They had a lot of flavoring and were so delicious. Their French onion soup is the best I've ever had. I was so glad that I ordered it. We had really great service. It was a young(er) server. She was enthusiastic, kind and efficient. I came here either last summer or the prior summer with a friend. We sat on the patio and had drinks and shared food. I can't recall what we had. The service was great though. I came here during lunch about 2/3 years ago. I met up with some former coworkers. There were 10 of us. They had us in a small side room for our bookclub meeting. I had a Guinness, the French onion soup and a Reuben sandwich. The soup was fantastic and the sandwich was great. I can't recall if the sandwich came with fries or chips but I really enjoyed it. We had a great server too. I came here with the family for lunch, and it was perfect. Delicious pizzas, sandwiches, soups, and beer! We started with French onion soups, it wasn't show-stoppingly amazing, but it was good! We also got the chicken wing soup which was amazing. It wasn't too spicy, the chicken wasn't tough, it was absolutely perfect. The beer list they have is very impressive, some of the more niche/hard to find stuff is there which was a pleasant surprise! We decided to split a couple pizzas and the steak sandwich. The sandwich was a bit spicy with the peppers, but I love spice so I wasn't concerned. The PIZZA though! We got the bistro white, mushroom, and margherita pizzas. The white was my personal favorite. It had the crunchy arugula, crispy and salty prosciutto, and the crust was perfect. The mushroom tasted more like French onion pizza with some mushrooms on it, but the goat cheese went so well with it I found myself loving that one too. The margherita pizza wasn't amazing... I thought the sauce tasted more like tomato soup than pizza sauce but it was still okay. All in all, the service was fast, attentive, and friendly and the food was pretty amazing. read more

We came here about six weeks ago for a Saturday afternoon retirement party, and it was wonderful. We simply loved the food and staff. However, last Friday proved to be an entirely different scenario. The waitress was ridiculously curt and could have cared less about serving our needs. We were seated at an uncomfortable booth that had no cushion or padding. My husband, who has Parkinson's, was uncomfortable and asked to be moved to a table with padded seats. The waitress replied, no saying the adjacent empty table was reserved, and the customers were simply late. She said if they don't show, I'll move you. They arrived about 20 minutes later. It's notable that there were other empty tables available at the time, and we were never moved. Our dinners, subsequent to a substantial wait, were served by someone else and admittedly simply delicious. Did we enjoy them, NO because we were just so darned aggravated. Mid-meal the waitress finally returned and asked if we needed anything else. She returned with the extra sauce requested well after we had finished eating. As we exited this establishment, it's notable that all tables at the front of the restaurant, with the exception of one, was vacant. Ordered curbside pickup during the Covid 19 crisis on a Saturday evening, order took about a half hour to prepare, we were instructed to park in their side parking lot and wait for them to bring the food out. I ordered a Beef Sort Rib dinner over wide pasta with peas and a Margarita pizza, both were excellent. The order took a few minutes longer than expected as they had a steady flow of vehicles picking up orders. Happy they are open for orders, one of our favorites. Will certainly return. read more

My friends in South Buffalo recommended Brick Oven Bistro as their favorite casual lunch location without hesitation! I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. My family and I split three pizzas: Margherita Pizza with prosciutto, Reuben Pizza (Sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island Dressing), and The Mushroom Pizza with white sauce and goat cheese. Each pizza was delicious in its own way, but my favorite was the Reuben Pizza. I had never had Thousand Island Dressing on pizza and I really liked it! The corned beef was also perfectly flavored. In addition to the delicious toppings, all of the pizza crusts were cooked perfectly in the brick ovens. The buttery crust was thin and crispy, but not burnt. I will absolutely be returning to Brick Oven Bistro the next time I am in South Buffalo. It's a great place to go with your family or with a group of friends for food and craft beer! Based on pics and reviews, it's one of those places that looks good, sounds good, probably is good.. but, for what we paid (avg. $14 for a 10" pizza) it was very underwhelming. I've had plenty of brick oven style pizza in my day. We had the pepperoni and margarita pizzas and they look great to the eye, but the crust was not that desirable buttery crispy type, kind of dry, undercooked, and cardboard-ish.. and on a personal note, red sauce had sizable onions through out.. hard no go for me, not into sauce with chunks of tomato or onions in it, keep it smooth please. Again, probably going for their own thing here, with plenty of people liking that sort of thing. Don't get freaked out here, this is prob a one-off review. read more

Today we came in for lunch, we were not really sure if it was open since the front of the restaurant had no lights on. We walked in to a very dimly lit dining room, with a few people at the bar which looked nice. We were seated right away, got our drinks and food. The server was nice. The white pizza we got was alright for a brick oven pizza and my steak sub (sandwich) was pretty good. Everything was good quality and decent overall. Not too blown away by the quality, price, etc but it is definitely a safe bet you won't get a bad plate of food. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place. Sadly... We will not be returning anytime soon. The good: good service, lots of craft beers and bottled beers available. The salad was very tasty although a little too much dressing for my liking, and they added coarse sea salt to it which kind of made it worse. Ok now the bad... The banana pepper dip had NO banana peppers in it whatsoever. It looked like artificially flavored and colored cream cheese that was simply heated up and sprinkled with some scallions on top. We ordered the white pizza - which was supposedly baked in a brick oven, but it didn't have the flavor or aroma of other brick oven pizza places we frequent. The dough tasted more like a flat bread, and again coarse sea salt was added... Which IMO was unnecessary. I like a thin crust pizza but this was TOO thin and the cheese/crust ratio in each bite was very disproportionate. The thinly sliced prosciutto topping was very good, so was the shaved Parmesan. To me though, the crust is what makes a good pizza - and this was simply NOT a good pizza. The dough is far from any decent pizza joint in Buffalo. I would highly recommend them renaming all of their pizzas to simply "flatbreads". I saw many other dishes that other patrons ordered and they did look delicious. Perhaps I wouldn't be opposed to returning to try some of their other dishes in the future, because I'm sure they didn't get all these raving reviews and high ratings for no reason... But for now it's a 2 star experience for me! PS. It's hit or miss with this place. Sometimes I go and the food is phenomenal. And sometimes I go and the food is lackluster at best. And it's the same menu item both times. I don't know why that is. Perhaps just lack of consistency in the kitchen? I don't know. I wouldn't NOT recommend here but I feel there are more spot on places around the area where you could go. Also, bar only serves beer and wine so if you are looking for a cocktail, it won't be here. Overall, I would give it a go at least once. Hopefully, you come on the "good" day. read more

I had the chopped salad and added salmon it was so fresh, had the perfect amount of dressing on it, and my salmon was cooked to perfection. I can't even give this place one star. Walking in on a Saturday at 7:30 pm with only three other tables with people eating should have been a turn around for us. The soda was flat, the chicken and biscuits were the worst food I have eaten, a whole bag of frozen peas with 2 burnt I guess called biscuits with no chicken, it truly was terrible! My husbands steak sandwich had so much garlic aoli on it to try and cover up the so called "tips" steak, fries were soaked in bad grease hours before she brought them out! Finally once we sat there the waitress came over and asked if we wanted boxes, we said no and then she asked if everything was ok, I never ever say anything but I had to, she acted like we should be appalled to even say what I did. $70.00 what a joke read more

We were a party of 11. First, we were seated promptly and our server came to get drink orders. (They do not offer pitchers of beer.. that was disappointing). Because a few of us have food issues, we each explained our allergies. Our server gave those people options which would work for each with no attitude... only helpfulness....that is a rarity! I had the Buffalo Chicken pizza(gluten-free) and it was delicious. It was a little too spicy for me but I overlooked this point due to how good the pizza was. Visited Brick Oven Bistro for the first time recently. My husband and I ordered 1 French onion soup, 1 house salad, and 1 pizza special to share for dinner. We enjoyed our food a lot but we thought the atmosphere could use some improvement. The French onion soup was classic and very good, and we loved the white balsamic dressing on the house salad (it had hints of garlic). The pizza special (chicken fajita) was flavorful and we liked the medium-thin crust. However, we were seated towards the back of the restaurant near the side-door (close to the bar) and our meal was continuously disrupted by the freezing winter air that blew in as guests entered/exited the restaurant. This occurred nearly every 10 minutes and was very uncomfortable. Also, our server did not stop over to ask how we liked our meals and it was tough to get our waters refilled. This section of the restaurant seemed too dimly-lit compared to the front half of the restaurant. Overall I would return for the food and reasonable prices, but I would not have high expectations in regards to service/atmosphere. read more
