Excellent wood fired pizza! We recently grabbed some takeout pies here and we were so pleased. Pies run $16-24 - the size is between an individual size and a medium pie. One will not feed two adults but one pie per person will leave some leftovers. We tried the standard NY style, the Sesame + Stracciatella (white pie with burrata and topped with sesame seeds), and the chicken vodka parm pie. All have a great crispy charcoal crust and taste super fresh. I love the sesame pie as it had a nice combo of flavors including some sweet from the sesame seeds. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was the literal drum of warm garlic knots just waiting to be eaten - I recommend you get at least a few. They are super doughy yet also very crunchy, and have a ton of garlic. Also, before you sit down, much like many restaurants in Montclair, it's BYOB, so don't forget to being something with you. We clearly forget this nugget of information more often than not when dining in the area. We had the meatballs, the arugula salad, and a Margherita. Meatballs can be hit or miss, but these are delicious and come drowned in some really excellent marinara. The Margherita was also delicious; plenty thin with a nice puffy crust that had excellent chew. The arugula salad simple and good was good, my only note was that the arugula was clearly on its last leg and had some yellow and wilted pieces. Not a dealbreaker but it would deter me from getting it again. All in, a great lunch for less than $50; sometimes I forget how much a few cocktails really adds to the bill. Montclair is close to me, but isn't a place I go that often. I am always nervous about parking since I am not the best parallel parker, but I was happy to find plenty of parking spaces available behind the restaurant. We had a 5:00 reservation and when we arrived the place wasn't that busy. However, when we left at 7ish, the place was slammed on a Wednesday night. It is BYOB which is great. We started with some garlic knots, and they were a great preview. The dough was outstanding and the sauce was tasty. We spit two pizzas, the chicken vodka parm (which was my favorite). You could really taste the vodka sauce. It was chicken thighs, which I normally don't like but they were so moist and tender. You wouldn't have known the difference. Then we had the margarita, which was really good. We also split the arugula salad, which I wouldn't get again because it was just dressing and arugula, nothing else in it. This place does not miss!!! I was introduced to them for the amazing pizza but the weekly Thursday sandwiches and Walnut Windough breakfast sandwiches on Saturday are also incredible. With a menu that caters to the picky eater classics or the adventurous foodies there is something for everyone. Everything is always cooked to perfection and packed with incredible flavor. The staff is always super friendly and service is quick and attentive. I highly recommend dining in, or taking your food to go to pair with beers at Montclair Brewery across the street. I love keeping up with their Instagram for the latest items and specials, and the dreaded alert that the Saturday breakfast sandwich has sold out. Great meal and overall time here! Our server was super nice and friendly/helpful he really guided us through the menu and gave some great suggestions. The restaurant itself is super nice and cozy while being spacious, but oh man the food is unreal. We had the meatballs (so big and flavorful and smothered in sauce), the mushroom pizza which was loaded with mushrooms, super flavorful and unique. Also got the vodka pizza which was really great, we got extra vodka sauce on the side so we could really drown it and loved it. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to make it a truly special day for my family and friends. Written about this restaurant before, but I had to do an update as I've eaten there multiple times since. My family loves it--both for eating in and taking out. Definitely one of the top contenders when we're considering Italian food. For appetizers, I highly recommend the garlic knots, cheesy breadsticks, and the bread + butter (this is so good we even asked for the butter to go). As for the pizza, we love the NY style, white, and vodka. I've heard the Buff Chick is good as well and the straciatella is next on my "to try" list. The restaurant interior has a nice ambiance, but the lighting can be a bit dim for those with vision issues. However, outdoor seating is an option in those cases. Made us feel a bit awkard since it was so quite, no even some background music playing or anything. For app, we got the garlic knots and the straciatella and wow, simply delicious. So fresh, so airy, absolute perfection. Get yourself at least two, you wont regret it. We then got the Chicken Vodka Parm and the Buffalo Chicken +Bacon Pizzas, and both were good. Service was great. the inside is large and spacious. they also have outdoor seating. i loved the housemade lemonade, but it needs vodka. the pizzas come in small, personal size, but can easily be shared. theyre close to $20. we ordered the chicken vodka parm, i loved this, but i will be honest..i dont think this tasted like vodka sauce. theres a little bit of flop on the crust, but it holds the weight of the chicken. they have a set menu of their regular pizzas, but also have specials. we tried one of the specials - the garlic pesto sauce with mushrooms. We walked in and literally no one helped us for a good 5 mins, finally the girl from behind the counter yelled to us if we had a reservation. I said no but she was still able to seat us right away. Idk if this place is newly renovated and they are still decorating but something is definitely missing. The one wall in the main dining room is all black, there's low lighting so it looks very unfinished and bare. Our server was very sweet and helpful with our questions. We started with the poutine and Caesar salad. The salad had zero flavor...good Caesar should have a strong flavor and this tasted like nothing. On the other hand, the poutine was delicious. Warm, comforting, definitely a must order. For pizzas we decided on the chicken vodka - this can be skipped, again not much flavor. We preferred the meatball ricotta. However the dough on both pizzas were cooked nicely and that's a plus. We saved room for dessert and so glad we did! We got the lemon poppyseed olive oil cake, I was not expecting it to be warm but it was (a good thing) . Staff was very nice and checked in on us in a timely fashion. I loved the idea of their homemade Sodas very unique. I'd been to the old location before and liked the pizza there. This location is even better because the local traffic isn't as crazy and also there seems to be more parking. Ordered 3 pizzas to share between 4 people: Buff chicken Pepperoni Ny style (cheese) All were tasty with generous amount of toppings. The crust was really good and chewy. The pepp crust was a little burned but not too bad. I still think that this is some of the best pizza in nj and fairly in line with my favorite spots in Manhattan. I first tried Brick + Dough over the summer in 2021 and after sinking my teeth into my first slice, I was hooked! They specialize in coal fired pizza which is the best way to have pizza in my opinion. Their dough is light, slightly chewy with a solid crisp around the crust. The pies are personal sized so it's definitely enough for one person and it can also be a treat for later if you have any leftovers. About 8 months after having it for the first time, I returned to Brick + Dough over the weekend. Why I stayed away for so long? I have no idea. My boyfriend and I escaped the cold and sat inside and ordered garlic knots with a side of homemade marinara sauce to start. The sauce was light and not too acidic which is a plus for me. The knots were packed with flavor and the perfect texture. They're only $1 each so there's no shame in loading up! For the main dish, of course I ordered the pepperoni pie with a Boylan. It was just as good as I remembered. My boyfriend ordered their special -- a cheeseburger pizza. It was AMAZING! Decided to try this place for our Friday night date night after seeing somebody post about it on Instagram. It is located on a main corner in Montclair, where there are a lot of restaurants and people out and about. Parking is not the greatest, but that is to be expected of Montclair. Upon walking in, it was a little confusing as to whether or not this was a sit down restaurant, or an order your food and bring it to your table yourself kind of place. The man that was standing in front of me even asked if I knew whether or not we just sit down or order at the counter. Luckily, we had made a reservation and it was an actual sit down and be waited on kind of place. We were sat promptly. We noticed the place kind of lacked some decor. It really has a lot of potential, but the walls were very bare, and it kind of gave it an echo-y warehouse feel. The wait staff was not bad and promptly came over to ask us what we wanted to eat and to open our wine bottle (it is BYOB). We ordered immediately because we were starving and our food came out in a decent amount of time. We started with the Ceaser salad which was amazing and actually a really large portion for the price. We were able to split it amongst the two of us. We both then ordered regular, NY Style pies and I added hot honey on mine. The pizza was absolutely out of this world. Not too thick, not too thin, just perfect. I was actually quite blown away. For desert, we had the panna cotta which also blew me away. So we decided to try this out again, and I am so happy that we did. The cheese stick was just as good as the last time. Instead of both getting sandwiches, we went with the meatballs ($15) and the turkey sandwich special( $20). The meatball were 1000% my favorite and I would return for it anyday. My friend and I came here a year ago before they started redecorating. The food was absolutely amazing, we loved the esthetic and how clean the establishment was. We came back with my sister, the food was still amazing. Except one of the specials was an acquired taste, however, we ate it. We got truffle fries and a variety of different pizzas. They do get busy as of recently and during specific times, reservations are recommended. Went with the crispy pepperoni pizza which was pretty good. Needed more sauce and the edges took up too much of the pizza surface - wanted less puffy edge and more sauced cheesy pizza.
