This was my first visit to Brick & Brew. It was a Wednesday at 2:00pm. I was seated at a table since there is no bar that I know of. I ordered the stuffed filet of sole with crab meat stuffing in dill sauce over risotto. I enjoyed my meal while listening to country music and watching highway traffic. I also received 3 thin pieces of bread which really would had been one piece of bread somewhere else. The food was good but not exactly filing. I can remember coming to this building as a kid visiting my Grandparents Lake House back in the early 80's. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it was the coolest little pizza place. In the years,...and decades since I believe that this location has housed both a Mexican and Chinese place, but it is good to see that it is now been resurrected to a great little pizza and Italian dining business (though it seems that through some time warp that the music from back then remains playing in an infinite loop in the speakers,...Duran Duran, Culture Club, Bon Jovi,......YIKES!). Again visiting the lake, my wife and I were able to sneak away for a dinner alone and were not disappointed by what Brick and Brew had to offer. A small dining area, the menu is large with a great variety of pizza, pasta, burgers and steaks. We started with the Shrimp Stuffed with Crab meat. Very good. Both of us got a soup with our meals. I enjoyed French Onion while my wife had the Italian Wedding soup. My wife got the Chicken Madeira which was very good and was very similar to Chicken Masala. Great sauce and mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side. I had the Shrimp Parmesan, basically the same as Chicken Parm but with breaded shrimp covered with sauce and cheese over pasta. Very good. The late Anthony Bourdain had a couple shows and theories about New Jersey Italian food, and if you are aware of what he meant by that and what it is and enjoy that, Brick and Brew has it. Overall, extremely disappointed in the whole experience I had at this restaurant. Besides the food, and the very sweet bus boys, it was very unwelcoming. We had a large party and made a reservation but we had a friend who was unable to make it last minute due to an emergency and we were charged for their absence. The restaurant was not busy yet we still received poor service from our waitress. She was rude and not very attentive, forgot to bring us another pitcher of water and did not ask if wanted to split the checks. Following dinner, our group headed downstairs to watch the live music and a couple members of our group went to order drinks from the bar. While they were waiting, another bartender came up to the rest of our party and told us that if they got busy, we would not be allowed to stay there and take up a table without drinking. She knew that we had already eaten and given them business and that our friends were getting drinks from the bar and was still rude to us. Our son recommended the Brick & Brew since he and his wife enjoyed the food on several of their visits. My wife and I arrived on Friday at 5:30pm. There were plenty of tables and we were seated quickly. The server took our order and the food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. I always enjoy a beer with my meals so I request a listing of draught beers. After the usual litany of swill, BL, ML etc. I finally selected a beer called Brick And Brew. Well, that was not to my liking. It's a light colored brew with not much taste. For my second drink I selected Yuengling knowing well the quality. My food selection was a "build it yourself" pizza constructed with mushrooms and onions. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. My wife selected veal marsala with vegetables. The vegetables, presented as part of the entree, were onions and peppers. There was no indication of what the "vegetables" would be. Onions and peppers would not have been my wife's selection if she was given a choice. She left all of that uneaten. She will select something else the next time we visit this place. All in all, we thought the Brick & Brew was oh, hum. We wouldn't go out of our way to get there, but if we are in the neighborhood, we might consider it. read more

I thought my 21st birthday was ruined after the Irish Cottage had claimed that my ID was fake on my 21st birthday until I stepped foot into Brick and Brew Bar, where I was met with the bartender Sue who made me feel so special. She made sure I had the most pleasant experience and seriously just gave my friends and I the best experience ever. She took pictures of us, helped us chose drinks, and made sure we were good all night long. Sue even bought me a drink because she said everyone deserves to feel extra special on their birthday. ANDDDD she even let us order food until right up until 10 which we were ecstatic about because my friends and I wanted to make sure we were eating while drinking! Always satisfied when I order! I only order take out since I'm busy and I'll pick it up on my way home. I've ordered various entrees including the pork shank, short ribs, rosemary ribeye, and country pork chop. All were consistent, delicious, and well seasoned. Pizza is very good as well! I normally won't leave a review to a restaurant that I only visited once but since I know that I wont be going back, I decided to leave one. A friend and I stopped in for lunch after I found this new place on yelp. There was no specific lunch menu or lunch specials. The dinning room had a casual feel to it, it was open and clean. The waitress that served us was the star of the place, friendly, polite, helpful and accommodating. You can tell that she cares about her new job and is positive about the place, the food and the owner. You can not wish for a better employee then that. This place failed for me because of the food. We were planing to share two items off the menu and it was just hard to pick two items because nothing stood out and every thing looked a bit over priced for a new place that has no proven track record. We ordered a regular cheese pie which was small and cost $10 and one of their sandwiches. My friend started to eat the pie and wasn't happy, I grabbed a slice and it just tasted bland, it was just ordinary. Besides that the bottom crust was burnt with full black areas on it. Heard from local friends it was good. Went there with my dad and it was packed. The couple next to us said they waited almost 45 minutes for a pizza and chicken wings. We waited 20 minutes as the two bartenders consistently ignored us as if we were invisible even after waving at them. The table behind us had to go up to the bar to pay their bill. The woman said excuse me to allow her room to catch the bartender's attention. She said she never got deserts that they ordered and was given the bill with the deserts on it. She also said she waited 15 minutes after they gave them their bill and never came back. The young male bartender attended to the couple next to us 3 times and never even glanced in our direction. He kept itching himself and doing weird stretching and body movements as if he was on drugs. His eyes were like pinpoints, a direct sign of someone on heroin or painkillers. It seriously took him 8 minutes to make 2 Moscow Mules. He also had a hard time choosing glasses for drinks and kept squinting to see and kept having conversations with a drunk guy in the corner whom he kept serving when the guy was clearly wasted. After 20 minutes, my father and I got up and left. We were followed by the drunk guy who got in his truck and drove off. Hopefully he made it home ok. There really isn't a good restaurant in town for a sit down dinner so I guess that's why it's busy but with service like that, they won't be around for long. read more

I'm giving 5 stars because the food here is exceptional. We got the ravioli in vodka sauce and a ribeye steak. Both my wife and I were very happy with the food. Should have taken off a star because the appetizer, salad, and main course all came out together. However, we have a serious lack of good restaurants here and the food and prices are great. $21 for a ribeye that was prepared great and good quality meat. The service is good, especially the hostess she kept checking on us every 3 minutes during our 15 minute wait for a table. The waitress was very busy and came to check on us every few minutes and was very friendly. As I write this review, the waitress just came over and said the manager insists we order a dessert on the house for the mistake of our food all coming out together. What a cute quite place. Amy was magnificent very attentive. The hostess sat us just in the perfect spot. I highly recommend the Garlic Clams. I could get enough of them. I ordered two meals and was told 25 minutes. When my husband got there to pick it up at exactly 25 minutes later, he was told it was not ready. Apparently, the order had not even been put into their queue due to "a new system". My husband had to wait there for exactly 40 minutes until the order was ready. He was not offered anything at all for the inconvenience. I called for an explanation while he waited and again was not offered anything at all. Only given an "I'm sorry". The selection is really great - American, brick oven pizzas, Italian, etc. I shared some garlic parmesan wings, a chicken parmesan, and a Brooklyn pizza. All were incredible (seriously, try the wings) and reasonably priced. Our server was really attentive without being in our faces the whole time, and atmosphere was very comfortably casual. We arrived for an early dinner to avoid a rush between 4 and 4:30. We both ordered the New York strip steak which is referred to as "Sssssseriously" on the menu. It was delicious. Perfectly cooked and great flavor. My husband who uses ketchup on all his steaks didn't even bother to use any because the steak tasted so good. Considering the size of our steaks the price was very fair. We didn't order any drinks or appetizers... But I have heard that the Brick & Brew shrimp is an awesome choice for appetizer. First time stopping for lunch as we swung through the area. They advertise as "brew" but they only offer roughly 10 taps of domestic stereotypical beer. Nothing craft. Their "brick" oven is nothing more than a commercial pizza oven plastered with brick. Guess that's where the brick comes from in the name. Our waitress stood behind the counter taking selfies on her cell phone. The one pizza cook came out to the pizza oven to make two pizzas while sucking on a pop ice pop (the green ones in the long sleeves). The ribeye sandwich was 30% fat and gristle. Very disappointing. There was no beer menu (which I found strange since it's Brick and Brew) when the waitress came back to take our order after about 10 minutes of talking casually with another table, I ordered wine and we both ordered a pizza. After about 15 minutes the waitress said she lost her paper and asked us what we ordered again. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. It took about 20 minutes for our pizza to come out. I never received the wine I ordered and was annoyed at this point so I didn't bother to ask. I had the white cauliflower pie. It was loaded with garlic and the cauliflower was hard (it said it was supposed to be roasted, which it didn't taste like it was) my husband got the madz about you. His came out warm and soggy, whereas mine was hot and had a crispy crust. His pizza had a lot of crust and one slice was a bubble. He thought the arugula was going to be fresh on top with a balsamic glaze, instead of wilted and cooked with the pizza. There was minimal arugula on the pie as well. The conversation I heard was the staff (unsure who, since my back was to them) speaking negatively about their jobs, which is a red flag for me since they just opened. Yay! Finally a new restaurant in Franklin that isn't fast food, in the most convenient location. The place was booming when I got there on a Monday evening. Parking lot completely full with cars (I eventually found parking adjacent on the street.) walked in with high expectations, which were fulfilled. I enjoyed the atmosphere which was very modern looking. The waitress was incredibly nice (Susan) and made us feel welcome. Nice bar area downstairs, but there is a smaller bar upstairs where it's more family style dining. I ordered the salmon teriyaki and my husband ordered the stuffed pork chop. Tons of flavor but simple enough. We also had cocktails which were great. Bill was cheap enough where we can make this a regular option when we are looking for an accessible restaurant after work. read more

First off, I would like to say that this is my absolute favorite local restaurant. I have been here with family and friends, upstairs in the dining room and also in the bar. I have tried many of the pizzas and entrees and I can safely say I have never once had a bad meal or experience. I was in town visiting my father and he suggested Brick & Brew for dinner. I am from the South Jersey/Philly area so the stakes are VERY high for pizza. I ordered a margherita and my father got some meaty one. The girl that took my order on the phone was super nice. Really awkward entrance in the front and wasn't really sure where to pick up my pizza. My dad really liked his pizza. They smelled delicious, but mine was really bland. I honestly think they forgot the slices of mozzarella because I couldn't taste it. The crust was really good but the ingredients really didn't taste the freshest. Next time I am up in the area I will probably opt for a more traditional pizzeria. read more
