We ordered split pea soup,shrimp,deep fried cheese calzone, cheesesteak hero with peppers, onions and mushrooms.. we had a few beers and cocktails. Everything was great! The food here is good but I'm disappointed in the service here. I know it's a small area but there was ample amounts of staff and even some empty tables. We had to ask twice for napkins , and we had to ask for a soda refill. We were only a table of four and had simple straight forward orders. On the up side the food was good and everything came out expected. The table across from us got a pizza pie and a personal pie and they looked just as delicious . If your going to get the calzone get it deep fried! It's like a faint empanada. The garlic bed is to die for. The meatball parm meatball is huge !!! And the buffalo chicken sandwich is spicy. Once again this place is a big disappointment. Last time I tried the fried calzone and it was greasy and lacked any flavor. Two bites and it went to the dog who then got sick and threw up. I didn't blame her. This stuff is bad news. Well, I got talked into going back and this time I tried the baked calzone. Just as bad, maybe worse. It was totally flat, no flavor, meat and cheese in the middle but just grease and dough around the rest of it. NO RICOTTA AT ALL.They told me calzones just have meat and mozzarella. BS. Every calzone I have ever eaten has ricotta, except this one. And for all this misery they charge 11.25 for a small calzone. If you like bland, chewy, greasy, overpriced stuff this place is for you. Normally, if I find a menu item that is phenomenal I'll stick with it, but EVERYthing I've eaten there is great. From the pizza to the wings to the cheesesteak to the calzones etc.. Seating is somewhat limited and takeout is not the same. You really need to eat in-house to appreciate the quality of the ingredients. Several people at the next table over got the fried calzones and while they looked amazing, there was no way either one of us could take one of them on so we went with regular calzones each, which we wound up having ample left overs for the next day. We've been going to this establishment for more than 25 years (even before it changed owners and names) for the fried calzones. Although we no longer live nearby we are in the area often to visit family and we try to go there for dinner when we can. We visited for dinner at 5:00 in early July and had a bad experience: Although there was only 1 other table of guests eating food, it took more than 45 minutes to get our food and the waitress was not very helpful. The microbrew beer I ordered had a "use by" date that was several weeks past and when I politely pointed it out (just to let her know) she argued that she "just ordered it" and walked away. She didn't even offer to reduce the cost or give me an alternate! It was obvious that the waitress is well known and liked by the locals and has a very different attitude to people she considers "non-locals". Obviously she failed to realize that our $$ is the same as theirs and we've been patrons longer than some locals have been alive! The bottom line is: the food is very good and we will likely return but this establishment's staff needs to be more considerate to ALL patrons. read more

The real kicker was when she went to the bar 4 feet away to poor it out, we heard her chuckle to the beer drinkers as they sang "Tiny Bubbles" it's a bar that serves food, I get it However IF they had treated us right and been friendly, our party of 3 would have turned into 50 or more, because the people I talk to follow me back to restaurants My Calzone was either Not Fried at the correct temperature or it was not allowed to drain because it was beyond greasy. If the service was better that night, I would have returned with friends to see how things were on another night I don't doubt for a moment that the regulars love this place. This place is about as "local" as you can get. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just clean with good comfort food. Most of it you can tell is homemade and there is care with using quality ingredients. You're not going to find a veggie burger, vegan options or anything considered "healthy", but it will taste good! After a day of hiking, I'd say you earned it! The regular bartender/waitress is friendly, will remember you and will greet customers in a genuine, friendly way. Decent beer selection which include the standard staples and some IPA's. Mixed drinks are good too....they come in huge glasses as does the wine. The service is a little slow, but the food is well worth the wait. Went here with my brother on a Wednesday night. We seated ourselves and despite being some of the only people at the restaurant, the waitress paid us no attention. We waited a while for our food (about 30 minutes) but the wings were SO good that we honestly didn't mind. They were delicious, the perfect temperature, and fell off the bone in our mouths.
