We ordered split pea soup,shrimp,deep fried cheese calzone, cheesesteak hero with peppers, onions and mushrooms.. we had a few beers and cocktails. Everything was great! We had to ask twice for napkins , and we had to ask for a soda refill. We were only a table of four and had simple straight forward orders. Once again this place is a big disappointment. Last time I tried the fried calzone and it was greasy and lacked any flavor. Two bites and it went to the dog who then got sick and threw up. We've been going to this establishment for more than 25 years (even before it changed owners and names) for the fried calzones. Although we no longer live nearby we are in the area often to visit family and we try to go there for dinner when we can. We visited for dinner at 5:00 in early July and had a bad experience: Although there was only 1 other table of guests eating food, it took more than 45 minutes to get our food and the waitress was not very helpful. The microbrew beer I ordered had a "use by" date that was several weeks past and when I politely pointed it out (just to let her know) she argued that she "just ordered it" and walked away. She didn't even offer to reduce the cost or give me an alternate! It was obvious that the waitress is well known and liked by the locals and has a very different attitude to people she considers "non-locals". Obviously she failed to realize that our $$ is the same as theirs and we've been patrons longer than some locals have been alive! The bottom line is: the food is very good and we will likely return but this establishment's staff needs to be more considerate to ALL patrons. read more

This place is about as "local" as you can get. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just clean with good comfort food. Most of it you can tell is homemade and there is care with using quality ingredients. You're not going to find a veggie burger, vegan options or anything considered "healthy", but it will taste good! After a day of hiking, I'd say you earned it! The regular bartender/waitress is friendly, will remember you and will greet customers in a genuine, friendly way. Decent beer selection which include the standard staples and some IPA's. Mixed drinks are good too....they come in huge glasses as does the wine.
